Book was a freebie on Amazon. Was an okay read, however it was short. It was only 50% of the Kindle book. The other half is another book of the author's. Therefore, the story is rushed and not as fleshed out as it could have been to make it better.

The information about this book is a little deceiving. It gives a page count of 436 but neglects to mention that this is two separate books. Fixation: A Stepbrother Romance, and Protect & Serve, are both complete stories, and really pretty good.
In Fixation, the main characters are Maddy and Preston. They both have very unlikable parents who are about to be married to each other. After Maddy loses her job, she runs into Preston, who up until now she has had some misconceptions about. She happily discovers he is not the spoiled brat she thought, but is a caring individual. They begin a business relationship as well as personal and their attraction for each other grows but his interfering father is about to ruin their happiness. The sex scenes are steamy and the story is good but seemed to wrap up rather quickly.
Protect & Serve is the story of Detective Sandra Williams and billionaire Nathan Hale. As a young rookie, Sandra arrives to check on a noise complaint, but Nathan mistakenly thinks she is the prostitute he was expecting. He stirs feelings in her she has never experienced before and so begins their relationship of sorts. I don't recall if any time frame was actually given but eventually she breaks it off. Now a detective, she is on a case where he is a reluctant witness. Assigned to protect him, old feelings spring to life again. They might have a chance for a real relationship this time, if they survive. This story also has some steamy sex scenes.

This does have two stories in one and the original story ends at 43% into it. Fixation has great potential, with all the drama, blackmail, lies, sex and so much more but to me it build up to a great story and them its crashed with a speedy ending. I would have loved to read more of what really happened and how or what Preston do to get what he wanted to frame his father and ex.
