Second-read: 13.07.2021
I wish we had found out the names of the babies. That said, I do love Daniil. I want more of his badass alpha male personality. Three books aren't enough really.

Re-read: 30.01.2020
The last re-read of the series wasn't so bad. I actually like this series and I truly want more. Sure, it hadn't been as good as I had hoped, but that doesn't mean it's a bust. The story is still good and you get a conclusion. You get to see a development in Beth that I liked and you see Beth and Daniil getting closer. Of course, there are things I didn't like, but I'm not getting into that as I'm way too tired and need to hit the hay (is that what they say?). Same rating as before - Enjoyable read, but far from great. Now I kinda want to re-read Forever Evermore series though... That being said, I do actually think it was better this time around. Perhaps I was just more prepared...

First read review:
The final book for press/reporter at the Brick Foundation’s event, Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Forter (28) and the head of the Russia mafia, Daniil Kozar (49). In the end of second book, shit hit the fan. This book picks up right where it ended; Beth gets kidnapped - her kidnappers want her babies and ones they are born, they'll kill her. Beth won't let anyone touch her kids, so she plans her escape. That doesn't mean that her life - and her - isn't changed; she becomes ready to do anything for her kids (does that make sense?). Overall, I wasn't overall happy with this book. Specially not the ending. It felt too rushed and it made me want more; a better one. I wished we had gotten one more book.
No one would ever try to take my babies from me again. If they did, I no longer had any such compunction about killing the bastards. It would be their funeral."

Other characters:
Grigori ‘Jake Donnally’ Kozar (33), son of Daniil. And is together with Ember.
Eva Kozar, daughter of Daniil.
Roman Kozar, son of Daniil.
Artur Kozar, son of Daniil.
Zane Harris, one of the owners of their company, Lion Security (the top security company in the United States)
Stash Bailey, a co-owner of Lion Security.
Ember Lerrus (34?), a co-owner of Lion Security. Has twin daughters; Nikki and Beth.
↦ Beth's parents, James Forter, the preacher and Franke Forter, a director for one of the largest anti-gun coalition companies in the United States. Later get's fired after the news of her daughter and the mafia boss went public.
Mary (19, turns 20), Beth's cousin (aunt Susan's daughter).
Katie, Beth's cousin (aunt Ella’s daughter) and runs/owns an escort business.
Kirill, a Russian friend of the Kozar’s.
Chloe, an employee of Lion Security and Kirill’s girlfriend.
Cole Donovan and Brent Terrance, was in a relationship with Ember. Are also dads to Ember's twins.
Trofim ‘Least Ugly’, bodyguard.
Bas, Peter (don't remember who they are), and married couple, Carl and Anna; friends of the family Kozar?
Merc, deaf and friends of Beth and her family.
“You are so wrong and so right for me.”
“Always, my sweet.”

Quick basic facts:

When I read the first book in this series I never expected it to take the route book 2 and 3 did. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting but it wasn't a story focused more on family than the main couple. So, whether it was because my expectations were off the mark or because of my issues with book 2, and now this one, I am slightly disappointed with how things went.

Anyway, obviously we start after Beth is kidnapped. The start of this was intense and I loved it! The rest, hmm, I could give or take it honestly.

In my review for book 2 I mentioned the sex (or lack of). So, again I'm going to bring up the fact that there was NO sex between Beth and Daniil. Yes yes, I know sex isn't everything blah blah. I can go without sex in my books, but the first book was heavy with sexual tension and had some pretty hot poking going on. The next book had more scenes with other couples getting it on than it did the main couple and again this book had Beth watching someone else have sex. It was frustrating. They were hot together and I really missed their lack of poking. I kinda resent those babies for getting in the way of Daniil's massive trouser snake!

I think my biggest problem overall was that too many other people and their stories/relationships were packed in along with Beth and Daniil's. If the focus had been directed towards them more and not spread out this would have worked a lot better for me. After the first book it just seemed to lose its way and sizzled out for me.

I'm not sorry I read this series and the first one is still a favorite of mine, but I am left a bit disappointed.

You know the feeling, one of your favorite authors puts out another book, you sweat as you open to page one. The anticipation is killing you. You think you KNOW what will happen and what to expect and BAM! Said author gives you something totally different and you find you LOVE it!

Scarlett Dawn is back with Obsidian Music and trust me, she never hit a bad note, nailed every crescendo and played right on through the interludes with her powerful writing.

After her brutal imprisonment where only the life of her babies mattered, a battered Beth is now safe at home, or perhaps saying she is home is safer to say. Surrounded by those she loves, those badass warriors of the Russian Mafia and in the arms of Daniil, she should be safe, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Guns will blaze, the body count will grow and a new heroine proves her meddle as the bad guys toss their own brand of a welcome home party.

Never underestimate the power of versatile writing, rapid-fire action and some of the strangest interludes of humor, ever! Scarlett Dawn has packed it all into the pages of this fascinating read!

Ok. So damn.
This started off really rough, and I had a hard time reading it on account of all my tears blurring my damn vision. This is absolutely the best way this could’ve possibly ended. In blood shed, and vengeance, and then absolute acceptance and deep rooted love.
This isn’t your everyday romance. It’s dark. It violent. It’s ruthless. Beth becomes much harder the longer she’s around the Kozar family and it kind of made me second hand proud of her for taking care of what needed taking care of at every turn without completely losing her entire self in the process.
There’s no sex in this book between Daniil and Beth, though others characters definitely have some filthy moments. Beth really has a knack for being in the wrong place at the right time.
It’s a beautiful ending to a long, harried love story that started with an over abundance of vodka. Some how she still managed to bring in that same humor from the first and second books, but make no mistake, this is definitely the darkest of the trilogy. I’m giving it a 4.5 star like the last one. This one also because of the ending.
I’m a greedy bitch and I could’ve used one more epilogue maybe 6 months to a year down the road, with a little of that hot filthy sex thrown in to end it the happiest way they are together, and to show them completely out of the woods and actually enjoying their life together after all the shit they went through.
I’ll definitely be checking out some of Scarlett’s other series here soon. I loved this one so much.

Re-Read: 04/18/22
4.6 stars.
I cried like a baby. I laughed. I still felt that second hand pride for Beth (the fictional character, yes I know).
I still really, really wish we got another epilogue. To find out what they named their babies. To see them in a happy, healed moment again.
To give me more time with these characters that I love.
I just really wish there was more.

Re-Read: 05/22/23
4.7 stars.
Still wish there was a second epilogue a few years later.
I want names.
I want one more sexy scene.
I want to see them all together and happy and healthy.
Really, I just don’t want that to be the end.

Glut clenching action followed by glut clenching laughter, Dawn, once again, weaves a tale that enthralls you from start to finish.

Obsidian Music leads off where Obsidian Maskended. Beth has been taken, leaving her in the hands with Daniil’s enemies. Chained, demoralized and battered, Beth circumstances are beyond torturous. Holding on to Daniil’s command to survive, Beth does everything in her power to save herself and her babies.

What happens when you take the love of the Russian mafia’s life? All hell is going to break loose…and a blood bath of survival ensues.

I never thought with a high body count, I could find myself laughing and developing a complete investment in characters; but Scarlett Dawn somehow brings the bond of undiluted love, 100% the real deal for both a couple and a family, that will do anything not just to survive but thrive, shining through.

I loved the first two books in this series and was greatly looking forward to book 3 but sadly, Obsidian Music was a disappointment. It wasn't a horrible book as Ms. Dawn is hugely talented but it definitely paled in comparison to book 1 and 2. Book 3 started off with a bang and then began to falter. The action sequences were just too much, one on top of the other, soooo unrealistic and the lack of romance here was glaring. Let me explain :

I desperately wanted the action to slow down and have the story focus on the awesome H and h that Ms. Dawn created for us in this series. I wanted more time spent with Daniil and Beth; more time spent on her recovery from her ordeal; & for heavens sake, I wanted some romance. Notice I didn't say more? In order to have more, you have to have some and there wasn't any romance here. There was zero sex between Daniil and Beth, very little kissing and a let-down of a marriage proposal. So while Ms. Dawn's writing is superb, the story fell far short and was disappointing.

Well, when Scarlett Dawn ends a series...

The only thing that comes to mind is the meme where Oprah gives gifts to everyone but the wording is obviously different: "You die! You die! Everybody dies!"

This book was a complete blood bath but in the very best, badass way. I found myself completely engrossed in the story, as gory as it sounds, and reveling in the awesomeness Dawn portrays her female characters.

This installment (the last one, right?) picks up right where Obsidian Mask leaves off. Even though it's been a minute since I've last read, I was able to jump right back into the story and it felt as if I'd never left.

I needed to know what would happen with Daniil and Elizabeth. Along with a few other couples, (which I won't mention because...spoiler alert!) there were definite questions that needed answering. And obviously people needed to die too.

In this book we learn just how deep family ties run, and how easily they can be broken when matters of the heart come into play. I loved how fiercely protective and possessive Elizabeth became, as well as her new-found coldness. She embraced her new lifestyle easier than one would've thought, but considering the situation, it was a perfect integration into the FAMILY.

If you want a series that will keep you guessing, make you swoon, sweat, and get your adrenaline pumping...this is it. Dawn delivers mobsters in a way that is unique to her style of writing and doesn't disappoint with how things roll.

4.5 out of 5

I received a copy of this story for an honest review.

The Lion Security Series is a rare gem of a series, where just trying to label it as one genre would do it a complete and total disservice. There's steamy sex, political intrigue, organized crime, layered mystery, familial drama and heart touching romance. Between hitting the sheets and hitting each other, the extensive cast of characters has kept me guessing and each installment has only stoked my fervor for the series.

What I Loved: So many bodies, so very many bodies. Author Scarlett Dawn went full tilt on her very bloody, very explosive conclusion to Beth and Daniil's story and I ate up every word. If you're squeamish Obsidian Music may not be your cup of tea but to me this crazy blood spattered installment signaled Beth's full rebirth into Daniil's world of the Russian mob. Watching Beth transform into a fierce mama bear willing to kill to defend the ones she loves was really satisfying.

What I Didn't Love: I love Beth and Daniil's extended family but for the conclusion of their story I would have loved a few more scenes or brief moments just focusing on the pair. I needed a slightly stronger reconnect for the passionate couple I fell so hard for.

Favorite Quotes:

"I nodded, feeling that glow of love inside my heart, hearing him. Seeing him. Smelling him - coffee. He still smelled like coffee."

"No one would ever try to take my babies from me again. If they did, I no longer had any such compunction about killing the bastards. It would be their funeral."

"You will live, or I'll follow you to Heaven and drag you straight to Hell."

"You are so wrong and so right for me."

I love, love, love the Lion Security Series and Obsidian Music was a solid conclusion... but if Scarlett Dawn ever decides to do more with these characters I will be there in a heartbeat. Obsidian Music should not be read as a standalone. Do yourself a favor and check out the whole series.

Happy reading.

A little disappointed

I love Scarlett Dawn she is an amazing writer. I hate putting this review as I normally wouldn't think twice about loving her books n giving everything I read 5 stars. The first quarter of the book is BRILLIANT I think I cried all the way through the first chapters very well written and awesome. Then it went down hill from there. It just went very VERY weird. I felt like I was reading another authors work... Even the grammar and wrong words used were frustrating glaring. The rest of the book just felt messy rushed and badly edited. To be honest situations the characters are put into at times just did not make sense, at all. So sad. Gutted loved this series, but left completely disappointed.

I have loved this whole series. Scarlett Dawn just sucks you in with her writing.
But!
I did find that although I was completely immersed in Danill and Elizabeths world I felt as though I didn't have the whole story.

So although I loved this book and this series it needed the backstory explained and explored more fully; so that we know what the hell is going on and why they had ulterior motives etc. Although you do get the gist of things and know why things are happening.

I LOVE THIS AUTHOR AND HER WORK

I loved this book. Seriously loved it. I am so fascinated with certain scenes throughout and I keep reading them over and over and over again. I completely understand why there are some bad reviews -- there is no sex, not a lot of romance and some major action scenes which are perhaps not the most realistic. This book wasn't about the romance -- that was book 2, this wasn't about the sex -- that was book 1, no, this book was about the rescue, the revenge, the acceptance and love.

I received this eBook from the author in exchange for an honest review; I also bought it from Amazon in support of said author.
The book start where Obsidian Mask ended. Beth is kidnapped. Beth is pregnant with triplets. Not a good combo.
This book is filled with action and drama. We see Beth suffer, how she reacts to abuse and how she change in order to protect her unborn sons.
Beth is now hardened, and the preacher's daughter, in my opinion, died. She is now the perfect mate to the head of the Russian's Mafia. She's not scared of violence and death anymore and think revenge is her due.
There's no room to breath in this book, there's attempt after attempted at Beth's and her new family's life, and as a consequence there's really no room to explore her relationship whit Daniil. I missed that.
I adore all secondary characters (there's a new romance that I absolutely didn't see in the previous books) and was shocked by one's betrayal.
It's a good book, but is definitely darker. I was lost in all the senseless violence and unable to follow the plot. I missed sweet Daniil and all of the characters' ruckus. I certainly prefer the previous two installments.
My vote: 3.5 stars

Beth is being kidnapped after the attack in her father's church and held prisoner in tiny room in cellar, chained to the wall in the dark with only enough food to keep her babies alive but her kidnappers don't care much for the mother as they boldly told her, they only want Daniil's babies and will kill her after. Days bleed into weeks and little by little Beth gives in to the insanity of her life in captivity. She hallucinates about Daniil and gets weaker every day. Will her kidnapper succeed or can she escape and find back to the love of her life?

I was going crazy after Dawn left us with this huge cliffhanger last year and then finally we got the conclusion of Beth's and Daniil's story - and what a story it was!!! I was disgusted by what those animals did to Beth after they took her, it brought tears to my eyes and I was wondering the whole time who was doing this to her and who hates Daniil this much to take Beth and the babies from him.

It was a great book but I can't help to feel a little bit cheated by the rush in the end. I was really disappointed and hope there will be at least other books about Eva or Zane. A book about Grigori and Ember would also be great or a whole series where we get the whole story behind Cole, Brent, Grigori and Ember. How it all started, what happened and then the future of Grigori and Ember.

Ember was really something else here when she rescued everybody all alone in the house. That scene seriously creeped me out a bit and I thought she lost it. However, I really do wish that you give us more about Lion Security in the future and it wouldn't hurt if we get to see a bit of the triplets and how Beth and Daniil fare. I hoped for more pages than we got but that's okay since what we got was great. I hope you forgive my greediness, Dawn! ;-)

I've mentioned in previous reviews how pleasantly unexpected I found this series, I ended up loving Beth & Daniil's relationship and just their overall chemistry. Now I understand that Ms. Dawn wasn't going to make us all happy but I am just left annoyed an unsatisfied. I agree with other reviewers that I expected more about Beth & Daniil and yes sex, but I felt like there was barely anytime with them. And what there was still was disappointing.
Now maybe the reason we got so much of other characters was because Ms. Dawn plans on giving us other character books but I just don't care. Like really really do not care about the other characters I just want Beth and Daniil and what we got just felt like nothing and unfinished. There could have been so much more, Beth & Daniil could have warranted more books or at least for this book to have been full length but no.
So after loving the first two books would I recommend this book or serious to others, no probably not.

Copy received from author for an honest review

Obsidian Music continues on directly where Obsidian Mask ends, so you will need to have read the first two books before starting Music.

This series has been adrenaline filled from the start, but this final installment was full throttle from the first word to the last!

You never knew what was going to happen next to Daniil, Beth and the family. I was surprised, shocked, elated. And at times, even though it seemed out of place with what was happening, I laughed out loud!

Ms Dawn has given us a shoot em up, no holds barred conclusion to the Obsidian series, and kept me wondering from the first word to the last.

I can't wait to see what she brings us next.

Trauma, revenge, and a happy ending

The action doesn't stop. So much so that I rolled my eyes. It's been so long since I read the first two that I was confused by who some of the characters were but I figured it out. Definitely read this after the other two as none of the characters are explained.

The heroine accidentally sees another member of her boyfriend's family having sex while she is too far along in her pregnancy. If this was a way to add a sex scene it was disappointing.

I'm glad that their story has a happy ending but this one really brought out the gore and head shots so I won't read it again. It felt like the heroine compromised her beliefs so many times that she didn't even care anymore.

After the year long wait I finally had my copy in my hot little hands and let me tell you it was worth the wait!!!!!!
While not many lol moments in this book, it was still everything we have come to love in a Scarlett Dawn book. With so many twists and turns and an ending that you just don't see coming. So once again she has hit the ball right out of the park with Obsidian Music. My only problem with this book was that it was over way to quickly!!!!! Now I only hope that we will get the stories of the rest of the Lion Sercurity team.

I. Can't. Even.

Scarlett Dawn killed so many people in this book I think Quentin Tarantino was like, duuuuude, that's a lot of bodies! But guys, it worked. SD worked that blood bath into a teeth clenching good time.

Elizabeth and Daniil go through hell in this book, but you can't underestimate the ferocity of a mother. Or a dad for that matter. This is not your "typical ending" which is kinda "Scarlett Dawn typical" am I right?

Other than blood, SD gives us something else. Love. Pure, strong, unwavering love.

Obsidian Music was such a great conclusion to this series, I'm just sorry it's finished. Another fantastic book, and one of the best Russian mafia series I've read. I love this authors writing, she has a way of making you see things from a different side and her sense of humor is shown perfectly. So many things are revealed in this book that makes the whole story fall into place. I really, really hope she writes more about this family, I just can't get enough of them. This series needs to be read in order to get the full enjoyment out of the storyline. Loved it!

Oh my goodness! I love these characters. Scarlett Dawn has done a fantastic job in drawing you a great picture of what's happening in the story and there are some pretty violent parts. Thankfully none of these people are lay down and take it type.

You have to start at the beginning of this series to be caught up. Obsidian Music isn't a stand alone novel per se.

I would highly recommend starting at the beginning. You'll be sucked in - and love them I believe you will.

The end?

The third and final book of the Obsidian series will take Beth to her dark side. While not as humorous or "steamy" as the previous books we see how Beth and Daniil will learn how to be together. A bit disappointed in the lack of interaction of Beth and Daniil. The focus of the book is not solely on their story as many other characters will be given key parts in this book.

After reading the first two books in this series I couldn't wait until this book finally came out. And I have to say that Mrs Dawn didn't disappoint. Disappointing

I was looking forward to the 3rd series and I find that although the writing was good it was rushed and short. I read it in less than 4 hours! The story focused more on fight after fight. There is a surprise at the end but I never got the satisfaction of a happy ending since it just ended up in delivery room and that's it!

Omg that ending. For some reason I thought her mother would go after them and be a badass but that wasn't the case. That twist in the end I was not expecting that at all. So very twisted, I loved it this book is amazing. There are so many things to love about this book but I only had one issue and that was that she got away so quickly. Literally she killed someone and walked right out because there weren't any other people in the house. I thought she would put up more of a fight with more people in the house or even shoot the gun on the way out. All I have to say is donille was right when facing an obstacle and you have to choose between death and killing someone with a gun most would choose the gun and go down blazing it's human nature. Even her parent understood why she need to shoot that gun.
All in all this book is 10/10 a great conclusion to the end of the series even though I wish she would no a novella with them fading their kids together and even how they all reacted to 3 new baby brother lol Eva. Gosh I'm so invested I want to know what she named those kids.

*SPOILERS AT THE END*

Okay okay so the second and third book offered more answers. The second book focuses primarily on the evolving relationship between Daniil and Beth. Book three is focused on the aftermath of Beth’s kidnapping. Overall, It was super cute and funny but also offered vulnerability in book three. The heroine is actually pretty likable and strong. One issue I did have is how fast paced everything was and the last plot twist of book three was just random and unnecessary imo 🤷🏻‍♀️ BUT with that being said the books were written well and I love the humor that was infused and the banter between Daniil and Beth. Honestly would read again! Now where are the books involving the side characters?????

Series Review

Compared to the King Hall series, this one feels less well developed. There are frequent grammar errors--the books need a good once over--and the plot was your typical Cinderella mafia tale. The main character needed more development especially in book 3. Her recovery was glossed over too quickly and was not believable. The religious undertones were not to My taste, but then the complete 180° that her parents went through was even less believable. I felt like this series was just hitting key plot points dutifully in an effort to get to the end rather than telling a story.

In the end, here was not much that surprised me in this series or that pulled out any deep emotion. I wasn't invested in it though I tried to be.

Finally 4 stars in the last one

Of the three books, this one I will give 4 stars. The editing was not better by no means but but everything wrapped up nicely. There were a lot of twisty turns that were explained but I certainly didn't expect them. A lot of unexpected plot twists that only come out in the end have no indications throughout the story but with each one of these revelations I can look back and see the "a-ha!" and "so that's why..." moments.
In addition, there were some pretty hardcore stuff in this book with lots if action and edge-of-seat moments. The ending actually left me satisfied with a sadness to be done with the series.
If you can get past some of the weirdness in the first book and all of the editing issues, this isn't that bad of a trilogy.
