I absolutely loved this book. I highly recommend it.

Helen’s daughter Peggy is extremely sick and very close to dying. In a desperate attempt to safe her life she heads across town in hopes of getting her daughter a vaccine that she is convinced will save her life.

The amazing and well written journey of what happens next makes this book so good.

I was drawn into this book immediately. The author has mixed fact with fiction and stayed true to the period of time in which the book takes place. I loved that Helen, although living in poverty, was portrayed as someone educated and intelligent. The love she had for her sick daughter was beautiful. And, who couldn't fall in love with Brave Peggy, an 8-year-old dying from a severe case of dysentery. Dr. August Gardner was such a kind gentleman and had a wonderful bedside manner with the children. In spite of being a trained professional, I loved that he was willing to listen to Helen when she presented her findings on yogurt. I can only hope that the author plans to write a sequel so that we can learn how things work out for Helen and August as they move into their new careers.

I received an ARC of this book from the Publisher, but the thoughts and rating are my own.

Amazing. Gregg Luke has done it again! I couldn't put this book down. I love how he is able to combine the science and romance in such a masterful way. Gregg Luke's writing makes it so readers immediately connect with the characters and are pulled into their story. The science in the book is so well written that it seems more like a fantasy and then you remember it's all factual! I love all of his books because they don't fall under one category. This one fits the categories of suspense, scientific, romance, and historical! What a fantastic read.

This was a very fascinating book. I am such a medical nerd that I absolutely enjoyed this one and being able to find love or you least expected, even though you’re from completely different circumstances and all because of a love of reading and research and being able to try and help save people from dysentery that kills because they don’t know how to fight it, and this book was all about working together and finding that answer, it was so much fun to read, and I enjoyed every moment of it

Premonitions was a little different from the previous books I’ve read by this author, but I enjoyed it just as much. One thing I always appreciate about his books is the way he incorporates his medical knowledge into the story, and that really stood out to me in this one. Even though Helen and August’s story is fictional, the medical information surrounding the treatment of Peggy’s illness is based on fact, which added an interesting layer to the story.

The story of Helen Clarke and her young daughter, Peggy, immediately captured my attention, but it also tugged at my heart. This poor young mother! Helen is alone, homeless, and penniless, and watching her desperately try to care for her very sick daughter broke my heart. Her situation made me wonder if I would have been as strong as Helen if I had been in her place. Her determination to do whatever she could for Peggy was one of the things I admired most about her.

I loved Dr. August Gardner and the way he treated his patients. I could understand why Helen developed feelings for him so quickly. I also loved seeing how Helen interacted with the young patients at the hospital. She read to them and helped however she could, even though she had little to nothing in the way of money or material possessions. The medical aspects of Peggy’s story kept me fascinated, while Helen’s struggle and the growing relationship between Helen and August kept me emotionally invested.

Helen and August's story left me wanting more. I’d love to see them get their true happily ever after—not just a happy-for-now ending. This is a moving story of a mother’s love, hope in the face of impossible circumstances, and finding unexpected possibilities when life doesn’t go according to plan.

I received a complimentary copy from the author. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

Gregg Luke has done it again - combined his medical knowledge with a fascinating story that plunges us into the time when that knowledge would have been invaluable - and wasn't available. His characters were intriguing - a poor young mother with a dying daughter, her only assets being her love of books and her intense love of her daughter. Enter a doctor who is willing to try new things - while having to fight the ignorance and prejudice of the times. You hope throughout the story for a happy ending, while knowing all the time how many unhappy endings occurred at that tragic time in London. Loved the ending! Loved the story! Loved the characters! Loved learning how some medical advances were happenstance....or were they? I received an ARC of this book, but bought a copy to give as a present, I loved it so much.

The events in this book take/took place almost 100 years ago. I enjoyed the science & medical information that was being researched & learned about by the characters and how Dr Gardner and Miss Clark were able to bounce ideas off of each other. The story plot was engaging and moved along at a quick pace (I kept being surprised that the whole story takes place in only about two weeks total). The one thing that bothered me was how the MMC kept sending such mixed messages to the FMC - the way it was done made me question his sincerity in a way that didn't add to the story, for me. I do love a happy ending though, so know that you can count on that.

I received an e-ARC from the publisher
