This is a sweet clean romance and a great start to the series. There were times when Sara just got on my last nerve but Craig and Happy the beagle made up for it.

Sara goes to Australia to get away from her life. Her dating life is now fodder for the paps and they are ripping her apart. To getaway she lands in Summer Beach at her cousin's house. Along the way she has met some interesting characters and began to hear a different way to speak.
One day at the beach, Sara finds a hurt dog and brings him to the vet. Here she meets Craig Murphy and instant attraction for both occurs. Craig bumbles the first meeting because of that and being short handed with lots of emergencies going on. To make up for it he asks her to dinner and they embark on a sweet romance.

Until Sara finds out Craig is a reality star for Vets. This hasn't changed who Craig is though and Sara is conflicted. Here is where I begin to have Sara get on my last nerve. Why? Well she starts to compare this to her experience with her last actor boyfriend. Mind you Craig hasn't done anything to her. Hasn't changed but she has issues with the stardom thing. After Ellie talks to her she does give Craig another shot but when in Sydney his agent pulls a fast one and Ellie decides that Craig was in on it. Again going by the past and not asking first.

By the time things are figured out Sara just wants a whirlwind romance but seriously Sara do you think the two of you aren't in each others hearts. Craig wants more so much more and she is resistant.

Overall Sara is a good character. Fun and willing to try new things. She is sweet and kind but her experience changes her in some ways and makes her more wary of men in general. She sometimes goes too far with her assessments basing them on her last experience. Other than this she is fun and kind hearted.

Craig is just awesome. He is kind and fun. sweet and sexy. Never says a harsh word to Sara and always hoping to make her happy. In Sara he sees a future and tries to convince her of this. His agent is a piece of work but he does do the right thing with her as well. When he is willing to sacrifice for Sara my heart went awww....so swoony. That is when Sara finally realized what a doof she was being and took the chance.

A fun light hearted romance where two people meet and have instant attraction. There is no over drama, no cheating just a sweet romance where one character has past bad experiences keep her leery while the other works hard to change that. A really sweet romance one to curl up with a hot chocolate in a book and get lost in.

I love all of this author's cosy mystery series so thought I would try this one out. It is purely romance, and just like most normal romance books that i've read, I just found it annoying.

This was a really sweet story. Not smutty at all, but very sweet. Not sure the cover couple match the story participants, but that's OK. Basically, Sara is a bigger girl. I'm not sure we learn really HOW big, but she's definitely not the super skinny of all the actresses in LA, where she lives. And where she crossed paths with a Hollywood hunk who made her feel special. Apparently, it was all a PR stunt. And, of course, being involved with a star means paparazzi and all manner of invasions of privacy. After the breakup, it was worse, so she's escaping LA to visit her cousin in Australia. First guy she meets is one of the local veterinarians, Craig. They have great chemistry until Sara realizes that he's actually a celebrity vet, so she tries to put the brakes on any potential relationship. To her, celebrity means paparazzi, and she does not want to go through that again. But Craig isn't willing to give her up so easily. Not after their first date, and not when she's getting ready to go back home to the US. Cute, cute story. I just wish there'd been a bit more steam.

I understand that this is meant to be a light and fluffy beach read but I couldn't quite appreciate it. It was really cheesy with little to no character development and instalove. It also felt like a little too much emphasis was placed on Aussie slang. Like how many can I possibly cram into one sentence (though I've never been so it may simply be my ignorance). Also, I was ridiculously pissed that the hero dismissed someone saying "Did he really ditch you because you are too fat? Was he cheating on you?" to his date as playful teasing especially after the heroine told him about her reservations. Hello?

Personally, if you want a good escape to "down under" romance, I'd suggest Rosalind James' Escape to New Zealand series.

This novel by H.Y Hanna has been published using a couple of titles, Playing for Love: Escape Down Under ~ Summer Beach Vet ~ Book 1 and Truly, Waggly, Deeply ~ Paws by the Beach ~ Book 1. It is also a part of an anthology, Love Down Under.

Sara is on her first trip to Australia to visit her cousin Ellie after a breakup with her Hollywood actor boyfriend, who was using her as publicity to boost his career and the negative comments about her in the gossip rags was very unflattering. The one drawback is she has to leave Cocoa, her pet Beagle with a friend back in LA.

One her first day in Summer Beach, Sara finds an injured Beagle on the beach and takes it to the local vet clinic and meets Dr. Craig Murray. The tall sexy vet and Sara are instantly attracted to each other and start to see one another until she finds out he is a popular star on Aussie TV with a pet rescue show. Another celebrity and again the unwanted attention and unflattering comments in the gossip magazines...

Will these two with only two weeks find a way to love or will the problem Sara has with the unwanted public attention ruin their chances with happiness? Loved how Happy, the found Beagle played a part in the romance.

What a wonderful love story! Sara was burned by a TV star and decides to take a vacation to visit her cousin in Australia. While she’s on the beach there, she runs across an injured beagle and takes him to Summer Beach Vets where she meets Dr. Craig. They have an instant connection and are slowly falling in love until she finds out he’s a TV star in Australia.

A lovely sweet romance. Learning to adjust instead of running is a sign of emotional maturity.
She went through a bad time with one romance and ran...now she is in that position again. Has anything changed?
Comes as a complete read with dogs!

5 Doggy Stars

I was given this book for my honest review.

The saying goes that dogs are a man’s best-friend but when you really sit and think about that what does it include? Why is it just dogs? What makes dogs so special that they warrant more merit? Do dogs actually have more power over one than another pet? Do dogs have a sixth sense about them that brings out more than a cat, bird, snake or another animal? Are they matchmakers or can they read our minds? This is a mystery that will have us all thinking for sure.

Sara-sweet, pretty

Craig-nice, hunky and a vet

Sara makes her journey to Aussie land to visit her cousin. She is smart and sexy but wants to time to recharge her batteries after a battle of seeing her boyfriend with another. She is a strong willed woman that has strong morals that she will not let dwindle. As her happening come along she runs into one that takes her breath away will this one be the guy that she lets ground her or will she run away before letting it all happen?

Craig is a hunky vet that is a bachelor in his own making. His life is complete and is happy with its path. But something is missing in his life in which he has always known to make it complete. Will his path cross another to make his eyes light up bright?

Craig and Sara’s journey is fun and light hearted. They have fun getting to know each other and feelings come to each but making them known to one another is another story entirely. Sara doesn’t want a relationship that will span another continent but Craig is willing to take that risk for his heart. Will this couple meet in the middle and let their hearts soar as one?

To the author: This was one amazing read that kept me from page 1 till the end. You took an amazing woman and showed strength within her. You took a man that has a big heart and made it soar higher for not just an amazing woman but a normal woman in this day and age. The women of today’s world seem to think that we all have to be like sticks but in reality we are not. Every woman deserves to be loved for her heart not what she looks like on the outside and you did that in this amazing read.

To the readers: Enjoy

Happy Reading

Playing for Love is book one in H.Y. Hanna's Summer Beach Vets series and is a very sweet and fun story. If you are looking for an entertaining, quick read which is perfect for an afternoon relaxing on the beach or snuggling up next to the fireplace on a rainy day, this is a book for you.

Sara needs to get away from LA and the hurt she is left with after a very public split with her celebrity boyfriend which ends up splashed on the covers of the tabloids. So she decides to take a vacation to visit her cousin whom she hasn't seen since she moved to Australia. On her first day in Summer Beach Sara meets Craig, a gorgeous local veterinarian, and very quickly feels an attraction to him as well as a connection upon gazing into his beautiful blue eyes. But after her recent breakup, Sara remains wary and cautious of beginning a new relationship with Craig, especially when she will be leaving to return home in two weeks.

When Craig first meets Sara, an American woman who has come to town on holiday, he is immediately mesmerized by her beauty and can't stop thinking about her. Although he can sense she feels a connection towards him as well, Sara is persistent in keeping her heart at a distance. As Craig and Sara spend more time together, their connection continues to grow. But when Sara discovers there is more to Craig's life than being a vet, can she accept who he really is, and can he convince her not to walk away from their love?

Although there are moments of "uh-oh" and hoping the characters will be able to overcome their issues, Ms. Hanna writes a virtually angst-free story and one which kept my attention and charmed me as well. So if you are looking for a sweet romance and simple story of falling in love, Playing for Love is definitely going to be a must read. Although this is the first of Ms. Hanna's books I have read, I enjoyed the experience very much and look forward to continuing on with this series, especially for those moments when I am looking for a relaxing story of love.

I was torn about what to rate this book and finally thought about 2.5 stars.

I actually read Summer Beach Vets 2.5 "Playing Santa" first, which I liked better and couldn't help drawing comparisons. Firstly, there were several descriptive phrases that came up in both books and the hero's eyes "darkened" many times - once okay, but it was enough times for me to notice. I also felt in this book there was more "telling" than "showing." Their last week together was basically described as "the most magical seven days of Sara's life" with a brief summary of what they did and then we jump to Sunday, the second to last day she's there. It just seemed like a huge jump from a couple of steamy kisses (and that's all they did!!!) to him asking her to drop her life and stay in Australia. And I don't have an issue with them just kissing but two brief episodes of that didn't seem enough for me to believe that they had such a huge connection. Again, if there had been another scene or two showing a deeper progression instead of what felt like a leap to "please stay with me" it might have been more believable.

The other thing that distracted me was a lot of references to the food and customs. I get trying to give the reader a feel for the place and lend authenticity to it but I personally don't need to read about every item the character is eating or drinking, especially when I felt that I wanted more description in other areas. But others might enjoy this kind of "traveler's guide" to the local cuisine.

Despite that, I did like the main characters, especially Dr. Craig Murray, and the story was a decent read, especially if you're relaxing on the beach or similar. I did like her writing enough in this one to try the second book in the series, which I did like better, so perhaps each one gets a little better.

My Review:

I found there was a lot to love about this story. Sara has escaped her crazy LA life to spend a vacation with her cousin in Summer Beach, a small town in Australia. Not long after arriving, she encounters a lost beagle on the beach that is injured. She rushes it to the vet, where she meets the handsome Craig. Their attraction is instant. Craig is delicious. What I loved most about these characters was how easy it was to relate to their story. Sara has some body-image issues, but she isn't overly whiny about them. She dated a celebrity jerk who did a number on her ego, but she seems to bounce back in the story. I love that Craig doesn't have to spend every moment telling her that she looks perfect to him. He does mention that he likes how she looks, but it isn't overdone. It was also nice to see that Sara valued herself and didn't just jump into everything with Craig. Even though this was a short novel, I could connect with the story. It was well written, flowed nicely, and had the perfect amount of detail for the setting and action. I also loved the Beagle's match-making attempts. It was very cute. I adored the story and look forward to reading others in this series. I would recommend this to any romance lover. It is a good, clean story that will captivate your heart.

Playing for Love is just a super simple, cheesy romance. A good light summer read, but nothing too amazing.

Sara takes a vacation to Australia to visit a friend and escape from the tabloid mess she is in in the states. She is not really famous, but famous by association and she just cannot stand the negative attention she is getting anymore. She just needs an escape for a little bit to regroup and not have to think about things for a bit.

When Sara first gets to Australia she finds a beagle lost on the beach with a hurt paw. She takes him to the vet and that is where she first sees Craig. Craig who is super hot and Sara is super attracted to him. Craig of course is attracted to her as well and they quickly hit it off. Things go pretty good until Sara finds out more about Craig's life and there is a bit of drama. Can Sara really be with Craig? Can she trust him, especially since he reminds her of past things that have happened in her life? And what about when she goes back to the states? Of course everything works out in the end. This is a light, easy read that is a bit ridiculous at times, but it was alright.

Could there possibly be any more cliches in this book?

So very often this felt like a game of 'how many uses of Australian slang can I cram into one sentence?' by the author. There was even a glossary because there were so many!

It felt almost inescapable in reading this to not make links to certain things. For instance Summer Beach. All I could think was Summer Bay and Home and Away. As for Dr Chris Murray, his celebrity vet status reminded me rather markedly of Dr Chris and his Bondi Vet fame. If you're not Australian then this will make no sense, but I'm an Aussie, so these things are advertised on my television nightly.

The one thing that did make me laugh was Rob McDonald and his dog, Happy. I couldn't help it with this one, my brain went straight to Ronald McDonald and happy meals.

Was this book badly written? No, it wasn't, but nor was it able to really hold me as a reader. I found I couldn't like Sara. Yes, she had a bit of rough patch in LA, but she acted like a spoiled brat on more than one occasion. There was nothing for me to find myself warming to her at any stage and with such a short book there really wasn't a lot of room for character development for either her or Dr Craig.

Finding Love Down Under With The Help Of A Beagle

This story is part of a series but each book reads as a standalone novel. Sara needs an escape and leaves LA and goes to her cousin's in a seaside town in Australia for two weeks. The only hard part was having to leave her sweet beagle, Coco, back in the states with a friend. This story is Sara healing from a bad break up with a movie star boyfriend who used her to move his career in the tabloids and taking time to recoup. Meeting a veterinarian, Craig Murray, and falling in love. But how can two people make a relationship work when 7000 miles separates them. How can she deal with his notoriety as a TV vet after what happened in LA? Is this a holiday fling or has she found true love while Down Under.

I love how Ms. Hanna weaved the story of Sara and Craig. She helped the reader picture the location, sharing the beauty and the flavor of the location, the food, the people, the language with slang and even the skyline and stars at night. This is a fast pace, page turning sweet romance.

This is a very sweet and light read, there is no real drama or any over the top conflict that will make the story over convoluted.

Sara Monroe has fled to the land Down Under, Australia after a disastrous ending to her relationship with a douchebag/jackass celebrity (I'd use a lot more words to describe him and so will you after you read the book). To get away she goes to stay with her cousin Ellie (we'll get her story in the next book) in Summer Beach.

On a nice, relaxing walk on the beach, Sara finds a beagle (I think those are the Snoopy dogs) in trouble and what does this dog lover do. Why, rush it to the vets of course.

Dr. Craig Murray is one of the senior partners at his practice as a vet and when the pretty American comes in with the injured doggy he is instantly smitten.

The characters are nice and endearing, I like that they seem very down to earth and relatable. Obviously there will be a little conflict, because what book doesn't have a little hitch, but it works and the story still stays nice and light. If you're looking for a nice book to pass the time or if you're an animal love this is your book.

Sara Monroe has found herself in the headlights of the L.A . Paparazzi. After her breakup with Jeff, a handsome star of a hit TV series the Paparazzi have not been kind to her. Sara decides she needs a break from the celebrity gossip magazines and heads off to Australia. Her cousin Ellie has invited her to come spend some time with her and enjoy the beautiful beach and quiet life of the Land Down Under. I found this to be a fun love story with Paparazzi, handsome celebrity TV stars, and a lost Beagle who starts Sara’s vacation off with an emergency trip to the local Veterinary Office. I really enjoyed this clean romantic story. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to read a delightful romantic story and learn a little about the ways of The Land Down Under . The author brought the scenery and the life style of Australia to life for me. The way her Aussies spoke was a delight and I was captivated by the characters from the first page.
I was gifted a copy of Playing for Love by the author for my honest opinion which I have given.

Playing for Love (Summer Beach Vets 1) is a fun, flirty book. There is no world to be saved or great mystery to be solved, I like those kinds of stories too, but sometimes I just want a traditional romance. This one is a delight. It is a sweet, well-written romance.

Australia is on my bucket list to visit but thanks to the H Y Hanna, I went on a mini trip there with Sara. The descriptions are so well done; I felt the breeze on my face and thought about getting some sunscreen too. Loved the lingo, it gives the story a local flavor that enhances the enjoyment of the story. Thank goodness, someone usually gives a translation to the Yank. I need it too.

Craig is the perfect leading man in this story with Sara. He is kind, compassionate, romantic and a hunk to boot. The fact that he is a veterinarian makes this story and series refreshingly original.

Playing Santa, a second book in the Summer Beach Vets series is out now. I can’t wait to read it, this series is a hit.

I am giving this book 5 stars. Here s my reason why. First it is a Stand Alone while still being part of a series. This means you can read it and follow through or hang on to the rest of the series when you wnat that pleasant relaxing read. And for the rest of story and more reason why 5 stars are appropriate. H. Y. Hanna has writeen a truly refreshing novel. Her main character, Sara, is suffering from being used by an ex boyfriend. To ease her pained heart she travels to Austrailia to visit for a brief respite and escape. Her leading man,Craig, is scaring her because of his choice of career. It is too close to her ex's career and she is falling in love but still runnning scared. It has dogs that will charm the chillout of any heart and helps bring the two together. It is a must relaxing read. If you like like clean romance and easy reads at any point you will enjoy this book and want to read the rest of the series. Good job H. Y. Hanna

After finishing a rather dark book, I was looking for something light and fun to read. This book definitely fit the bill! Sara needs to escape LA after a public embarrassment, so she goes to visit her cousin in Australia. She meets a local vet when bringing in an injured dog, but she soon finds out he may be a bit more of a "celebrity" than she realized.

I actually read the Christmas novella before reading this book, so I was already a big fan of Sara and wanted to learn more about her back story. Once I started this book, I realized it was Craig who really made the book!

As with Hanna's other books, she does a great job of describing the exotic location. I enjoyed reading about the Tim Tam Slam and felt like I was visiting Australia right along with Sara. I believe book 2 is about Sara's cousin Ellie, but I'm excited to read her story.

Sweet and cute. I loved the beagle matchmaker who brought Sara and Craig together.

Sara Monroe is fresh from a broken relationship and taking a vacation to escape the paparazzi in Los Angeles. She goes to a remote area in Australia and meets a wounded beagle on the beach. Of course she brings him to the veterinarian clinic and meets the hunky vet Craig Murray.

The story is kind of predictable, and it's a light-hearted beach or poolside read. In my case, it's a Stairmaster read. I enjoy stories with pets and there was enough drama about the beagle for Craig and Sara to bound over.

I also enjoyed the descriptions of the locations Sara visited as well as the food she ate. The Aussie slang was delightful and brought back memories of hanging out with an Australian back in college days.

I'm glad there are more delightful stories in this series.

It's the first book in the Summer Beach Vets series and I really enjoyed it. It was a fun adventure with in Australia with Sara and Craig.

Sara wanted to escape from all what happened and decided to visit her cousin in Australia. She goes to a Summer Beach, which is a very idyllic and beautiful place. One day, when she is walking on the beach she finds a puppy, who is injured, so she brings him to a vet. She meets a very handsome vet and there is an instant attraction, but everything doesn't go so smoothly. There're things in Greg's life that bother Sara and she has to leave for the United States in short period of time. How will everything work out, it's worth to find out!
It's a light-hearted romance, enjoyable protagonists and it takes place in a wonderful place, what else could you ask for, it is a good read.

Totally enjoyed this story. If you are a dog lover, you'll definitely enjoy this series and even if you are not, the descriptions of Australia and the Aussie slang and culture will definitely pull you into the story.

Dr Craig Murray definitely reminded me of Dr Chris Brown in the Aussie TV series: Bondi Vet. I love Dr Chris Brown and have often wondered what sort of personal life he had and what a great boyfriend or husband he'd make. Whilst reading Playing for Love, I could just picture Dr Chris Brown in my mind. Dr Craig Murray is definitely swoon worthy. He is kind, compassionate, romantic and I love his patience with Sara. I also love that little "paranormal" added to the story which is to do with Happy the Beagle.

Can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Sara Monroe was escaping her life in L A and going to visit her cousin, Elle in Australia. She had been made a fool of by her ex boyfriend. He was an actor trying to get noticed and he did. Then she found out he was using her to get noticed. In Australia she met Dr. Craig Murray, a vet, when she found a beagle injured on the beach. Summer beach was a quite town and Sara loved it there. The handsome vet asked her out on a date. She really liked him until she found out he was a celebrity vet in his country. This is a short story and really sweet. You will love it as she tries to deal with her feelings and Craig's popularity.
