Please don't be deterred by my three star rating! Not Planning on You was a fabulous book that I loved and can recommend. It simply lost a couple of stars because it contains one of my most hated plot lines!
This really "spoiled" (no pun intended) a lot of this book for me.
On a good note, the characters are all back. We get to catch up with Jason and Claire from Weekends Required, and the next romance for book three is nicely introduced within this one. I am captivated by the men of Mericom. Where are all the CEO's in real life, and why don't they look and behave like Jason, Gray, and Nick? The epilogue was AWESOME, and it's cleverness had me laughing out loud and reading it over and over.
I am hooked on this series and will be buying the next book (Beth and Nick's story...hopefully!) as soon as it's out!
Favorite Line:
"He was a man who made million dollar deals over breakfast, he was on a first name basis with senators and congressmen, and he was proud of the fact that he was never at a loss for words. No matter what the situation or problem, he was smooth, it was his God-given talent and it had made him a very successful business man. This woman in front of him, with her eyes flashing and her foot tapping impatiently, had done what no one else could do; she'd made him speechless.

OMG! I have no words to describe the feelings for a book already in my ALL TIME FAVOURITE!!!! What I thought I didn't find in book 1, I found a hundred times more in this book!
Playful, funny, smoking HOT, sexy, interesting, suspense-filled, touching, never boring... a real, REAL page turner! You just have to read one more chapter, a few more pages!!! I love this kind of books that make me sacrifice hours of sleep just to finish them! and what a worthy sacrifice this has been!!!
Sydney Landon's world is a world full of sexy -to die for!- men who are not afraid to show their feelings to the women they love....maybe even sing a song for them!!!
This book includes the best marriage proposal ever!!!
I just can't wait for the next book in the series!!!

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, Weekends Required, so I was looking forward to Danver's #2. I always love that, with most romance series, we get to see the couple that had the HEA in the first book again. And Landon didn't disappoint, we got to see a lot of Jason and Claire, but there was also a great new story here that I thoroughly enjoyed!!
Not Planning on You is Suzy's story, and I adored her in Danvers #1 so I was very happy to dive into it! Suzy, having gone through the heartbreak of losing her cheating fiancee Jeff, is determined to get on with her life without heartbreak. She's busy with her job in events planning, determined not to be won over by the flirtatious and persistent Gray Merimon. But when she finds out he's going to be moving into town and suddenly he's agreeing to her flawed plan to have one night of sex, it seems like Suzy's bitten off more than she can chew. When a misstep leads to Suzy heading to the ER on the night they're supposed to be 'getting it over with', she's confronted with the possibility that Gray is more than just the typical rich boy looking to break her heart. Gray's intentions become clear as he stays by Suzy's side after her injury, and she can't help but admit her own deep feelings for the sexy sweetheart. Complications from a past relationship may mean an early end to this heartfelt romance, though, and Suzy's heart may not survive a second fall.
I have to say, I absolutely loved Suzy and Gray. I already loved her in the first book as Claire's friend, but to get to see her POV and her quirky personality was great fun!! And Gray, this sexy dreamboat of a man, won me over with his tender, insistent attention that he gives Suzy. I was so smitten with the way he took such good care of her and worried about her feelings, then flipped a switch and was Mr. Hot and Bothered!!! Definite chemistry between these two, I was left fanning myself on more than one occasion!! LOL
I definitely enjoyed this story more than Weekends Required, I really found myself engrossed in Suzy and Gray's relationship. My heart broke for Suzy when Gray started making a retreat at one point, it really felt like a punch to the gut when he was being so inconsiderate of her. She was so afraid of getting hurt, and when he essentially proves that she shouldn't have put her heart out there it was so sad!! I wanted to strangle Gray for being such a selfish jerk when it came to Suzy, there was no excuse for his behavior. I do wish that part of the plot was a little better thought-out, because once things get ironed out I think he needed to do some serious long-term groveling and proving that he'd never do something like it again, but it's all just kind of washed away like it never happened.
Overall, this was a great sweet, steamy romance with some funny and memorable characters, and I give it a solid 4.5 stars!

This was a hot, sweet, and good ride. It was a quick ride, but a good one, nonetheless. That said, it also had so many elements of what it so prominently selling right now – a book very similar in many ways to the Fifty Shades and Crossfire series. In some ways that was positive, and some ways, it was meh. But I’ll get back to that in a moment.
Not Planning on You begins with our heroine, Suzy, an event planner for Danvers International located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, finding out that the uberhawt, ubersexy, all alpha male, CEO of Mericom, Grayson Merimon (Gray for short) will be spending a lot of time at Danvers in Myrtle Beach…much to her chagrin. She is still getting over the heartache of her fiance’ cheating on her and putting her heart back together, and while Gray definitely sends her libido into overdrive, Suzy is not ready for a relationship or to give her heart out once again. Luckily, Gray is a very insistent man, and whittles away Suzy’s strong layers, getting her to finally agree, not to a date of course, but to a night of some hot and heavy sex to help simmer the temptation that has been wracking both of them. While on their non-date, and prior to the amazing sex that is supposed to occur, Suzy has an accident, breaks an ankle, and finds herself needing to be taken care of for some time. Of course, Gray instantly takes charge, takes over, and refuses that anyone but himself take care of her.
The chemistry between Suzy and Gray jumps off the page from the get-go, and it is clear to see that they are going to set things aflame when they do finally get down to business. Suzy is a very strong, independent woman who knows who she is, what she wants, and what she doesn’t. She is beautiful, full of confidence, and loves to dress in a way to show off her assets and style, topped with six inch stilettos. Gray, the dark, hot and brooding CEO, is equally as gorgeous, all male, and the perfect man in all senses of the word. After he gets Suzy back to his home (that he is able to purchase within a day, and with the mindset of making it their home eventually), his perfection goes into hyperdrive. Not only is he richer than rich and the most perfect male specimen to be found, he has a wonderful relationship with his brother and his parents, his manhood is well above average, AND he cooks from scratch. Believable for the reader? Not.At.All. Nonetheless, he takes care of Suzy, and through their time together, they get to know one another very well, and you can see how they are able to fall in love…not because they are beautiful and the sex (that they haven’t yet had) is amazing, but because they really do click and enjoy each other’s company.
Of course, there is always a problem in perfect-ville. For Gray and Suzy, it’s Gray being stalked by a pesky ex-lover. This comes to haunt them in the worst way imaginable and drives a wedge between our hero and heroine. Are they able to survive it as a couple? You’ll have to read it to find out. ;)
So going back to how Not Planning On You is similar to Fifty and Crossfire, and how that can be good and how that can be bad, I’ll start with the good. It’s good in that it gives the reader the perfection of man to dream about and with which to escape reality. Do we all want that? Hell yes! There are so many elements that I imagine women dream about and are enticed by: tall, dark, sexy CEO who is head over heels in love with the woman of his affections, he’s rich, he does all the right things, he is blessed with his amazing manhood, AND he cooks! Sign me up, please!! Now the bad. Is it achievable? Hell no! NO ONE can be THAT perfect. Additionally, the hero’s name is Gray. Really? Wow! If that doesn’t send up a signal, I’m not sure what would. Also, I think the CEO part has become too cliche’, and the hero should not be as well off and owning his own company. It would be nice to see that changed up a bit. Much like Fifty, too, the conflict was a bit far-fetched and way too easily overcome.
Not withstanding my minor criticisms, though, Not Planning On You was a fairly quick and enjoyable read. While some could say that Suzy and Gray fell in love too quickly, I actually enjoyed watching them fall in love in a way different than most contemporary novels these days. They didn’t fall in love through their lust for one another, but because they actually spent a lot of time together, getting to know one another. And when they did finally get together, watch out! The sheets were set on fire. I also really enjoyed watching Gray fall to pieces when Suzy would say or do something to break down his hard exterior. He is definitely a kitten underneath his Tiger skin, and it was adorable to see. I also enjoyed the peripheral characters, most especially Beth and Nick, who I can only assume might be the main characters in the next Danvers novel. I know I will be reading it to find out.

Not Planning on you more like not planning on finishing this series. I don't know why I listened to so many Sydney Landon audiobooks and convinced myself that while these books aren't technically good brr kind of trashy with over the top explosive characters and crazy events like our heroine getting injured on her first date and our hero forcing her to live with him until she's healed... I just stopped... Caring. I think I'll have to take a break of my sanity will poof! Disappear.

What an awesome book. I am in love with Gray he is for sure my new book boyfriend. I must say he pissed me off a few times but he redeemed himself in the end. He is a good guy. Suzy was great and cracked me up at every turn. Now I am ready for Beth and Nick's book it is going to be epic.

I've had NOT PLANNING ON YOU on my Nook for about 2 years. It got lost in my massive TBR pile. I finally decided to give it a go on audio.
The Story
I have to be honest, I zoned out a few times early into the story and I'm not 100% clear why Suzy, who wanted no kind of relationship with Gray, agreed to stay with him when she broke her ankle. It doesn't make sense to me and it's not believable. But I guess Sydney Landon had to throw these to characters together somehow so that Gray could "date" Suzy since she kept turning him down.
Why did Suzy keep turning down dates with Gray? She got hurt by her last (and only) boyfriend. He was her high school sweetheart and she just knew they would get married and live happily ever after, until he cheated on her. Now she doesn't want to get hurt again so she's been trying to fight her attraction to Gray. Suzy thought she could shake Gray up by saying that just sleep together to get over their attraction to each other and be done with it.
Gray wants more than just sex and knows about Suzy's past and that she's afraid of getting hurt again. But he wants the real thing with her and does his best to win her over.
I think the added element of Gray's "ex-girlfriend" with the stalker issues wasn't needed.
The Narration
Allyson Ryan voice rang a bell with me when her name didn't. I'm 85% sure she narrates under another name and has narrated a PNR series I've listened to. Since narrators used pseudonyms for a reason I'm not going to call her out on the other name. But I will say, her performance is the same in the Danvers as it was in the PNR. Which is OK. She does well with the female voices and non dialogue but not so great with the males voices. And sometimes she's a little too dramatic in her reading when I would not have read it that way in my head. So for me, Allyson made some of the cheesy lines in NOT PLANNING ON YOU even cheesier. Really I felt like I should have been drinking a glass of wine while listening to all the cheesiness.

I'll give the next book a go but not on audio.

Having not been blown away by the first book in this series, I wasn't sure how I would feel about this next installment. But after seeing all of the rave reviews from my friends on Goodreads, I dove in to give it a shot. I had loved Suzy's character in the first book and wanted to read more about her. I was slow getting into it due to other reading distractions and had almost resigned myself to give up and try some other time. I am so glad I kept reading!
I am in love with Suzy and Gray (I just love the name Gray, Grayson...swoon). I want more of them, like right now. Their story was awesome - intense, sweet, sexy, hilarious. It was a perfect combination that left me wanting more every time I put it down.
I loved the entire cast of characters in this book. Beth, Nick, Ella, Gray's parents. All of their parts made it a fantastic book. The humor in this book was hysterical. I found myself chuckling out loud more than once!
What started out as iffy for me turned into wonderful, and I'm glad I continued reading it. I'm thrilled to know the author will be releasing another book about Nick & Beth. I adored them!
*The only downfall to this book were all of the grammatical errors. Normally I don't really notice or it doesn't bother me. But the last quarter of this book had loads of them, so many that I started noticing more and more and I wish it had been proof read better before release. But still WELL WORTH purchasing and reading! Highly recommend!

OMG!!! Sydney has done an amazing job on the second book of the series! I was hooked from day one. I laughed, cried and swooned through out the book. Gray and Suzy have an amazing chemistry and their desire for each other could not be denied. Their quick witted banter had you wanting more. Suzy Denton is the spunky, outspoken and wild dressing best friend of Claire's from Weekend's Required. She has a spirit that is like no other. When she first met Gray Merimon, she told he was a stuffed shirt and didn't want anything to do with him. Her body told her otherwise. After going through a breakup with Jeff, her longtime boyfriend. She did not want to get involved with anyone. Gray pursued her for over a year. She finally gave into him by saying "let's scratch the itch once and for all and get it out of our system." The event that followed made me cringe for Suzy. I found this book to be more emotional than the first. I was with Suzy thru her ups and downs rooting for things to get better for her. After reading this book, you knew who would be hooking up. Amazed at what went on under Suzy's nose. When you are blinded by love, everything else takes a back seat. Can't wait to Read about Nickolas and Beth. Saw that one coming when they stopped arguing all the time. Well now the wait is on for the next book.

Oh suzy ... I think that everybody should have a friend like her ... Suzanna(dont tell her that to her face because she'll correct you "it suzy") Is such a sassy, independent and very blunt kind of girl ... I <3 her so much ... Any way in the first book we meet Suzy and Greyson and since the first time he meets her he falls for her sassiness and her bluntness, but not all is easy for them they go through ups and down... Since the the beginning you want there love to over come there obstacles because you want to believe that opposite do attract (well that's what I want to believe).. I can't wait for her third book ...

OMG! I can't believe I'm actually writing my first review. But I had to....this story was amazing. I loved the romance. I loved the heat between Gray and Suzy. I loved the humor. The families were so supportive. I loved seeing how Jason and Claire were doing, from the first book! This is a wonderful series to get lost in. I highly recommend it. Can't wait to see what happens next with Beth and Ella. Thank you Sydney for sharing your gift!

I loved Not Planning on You. I liked it a lot more then Weekends Required. Suzy was always making me laugh with her one liners and quick wit. Beside a few times in which Gray made some really stupid choices, I loved him. He was sweet, tender, patient and damn sexy. The Danver’s series has been a pleasant surprise. I wish I could get my hands on the next book Falling in Love With Me now!

This is the second book in Sydney Landon’s Danvers series and I liked it more than the first one. I think the two main characters were a bit more likeable, their dialogues were a bit more entertaining and the storyline was less predictable. Suzy Denton was a great female character, she was witty, loving, a tough exterior with a warm heart. Her story sort of started in the previous book where she met Gray Merimon, but it all really happened in this one. I am a sucker for sexy males who have no qualms about chasing the woman they are interested in so I was as happy as a clam reading this story. Gray was just delicious - I was melting at his every word.

I am so glad I decided to continue reading this series and I hope there will be a book 3 because Beth and Nick have to get their story too.

ok so with THIS book, Ms Landon did NOT get any better in her writing style for my taste, but the REAL problem with this book is that it was outrageously STUPID. I'll only give you one of the MANY examples: so suzy has to go get a hard cast put on her ankle. this is not a 5 minute operation, correct? even if you have NEVER broken a single bone in your body, you know THIS, correct? Weeell, Gray is so agitated with distress because he could not 'get a hold' of Suzy during said situation, that it felt like he was actually crying thru the pages and actually said "did they hurt you baby?"....ARE YOU KIDDING ME, you pansy ass sniveling idiot?!?!?! What kind of a 'gorgeous, billionaire, alpha' male was Ms Landon trying to portray here? RESEARCH lady.

I think I loved this one more than book one in the Danvers series. We met Suzy Denton , in Weekend Required, Claire and Jason's story and I was pretty happy to see that Not Planning on You was going to Suzy and Gray's story.
Both had met briefly while having dinner with best friend Claire, but her encounter with Gray had him pinned as an up tight suit that wouldn't know fun if it kicked him in the bum. Little did Suzy know, Gray was definitely taken by her, and he would stop at nothing to have her. With an impending merger between Danvers international, where Suzy is head of Special Events and Mericom where Grayson Merimon is CEO , it is guaranteed the two will be forced to spend plenty of time together.
The sexual tension between, Gray and all round fun girl with a saasy attitude and dress sense to make any company owner cringe, Suzy, it becomes a matter of time before they give in. Simple, one night of monkey sex, to get it out of their systems. One dinner, then home for a wild ride.... simple? yeah.... NO.
While leaving the restaurant Suzy takes a nose dive and ends up in hospital with a broken ankle, bruised ribs and a concussion. Taking everything into his own hands, Gray demands Suzy stay with him while she recovers. Once again their tension is undeniable, and despite her aches and pains, she manages to wrangle in eligible bachelor Gray. He is prime real estate, to any woman so when he becomes a target of a crazy ex, both Suzy and Gray's relationship is thrown into disarray when Reva shows up with a shock that puts a while new world between this new couple.
It was obvious that Gray was attracted to Suzy from that 1st brief meeting during dinner 12 months earlier. He made the fatal mistake of a one night stand with captain crazy herself Reva. Now with a growing baby belly and the news he is the baby daddy, Suzy attempts to keep up her appearances, but knowing the man Gray is, she walks away from the man she truly loves.
Suzy while in the depths of despair, and still incompacitated with a broken leg, she relies on sister, Beth and Nick, Gray's younger brother. They become a large part of this story, and I'm guessing book 3 in the Danvers series will be their story, cause there was so much inuendo about their non-relationship, that had left me with more questions than answers. But getting back to Gray and Suzy, he must prove that he can be both a daddy and a partner to Suzy. But after catching her cheating ex-boyfriend she finds it hard to trust again.... Gray must get through to his woman, before it us to late.

Not Planning on You is a great addition to the Danver’s series by Sydney Landon. I’ll admit I fell in love with Suzy (our heroine) in the first book in this series, Weekend’s Required. While I’m not the snappy dresser Suzy is, I’m pretty outspoken and I love how she just tells it like it is. What is fascinating is how the interest of a man who she thinks she has nothing in common leaves her perplexed. Nothing I like better than when someone with such confidence gets thrown for a loop.
Suzy and Grayson (Gray) meet briefly in book one. The attraction and sparks fly immediately and on the surface these two seem like such a mismatched pair. Over a year Gray and pursued Suzy but she has refused his advances. She challenges him to become her “sex buddy” and is surprised that the “button down stuffed shirt” says yes. However, an accident, a hospital stay, and some rehabilitation time changes things pretty drastically. The very independent Suzy is now dependent on Gray, his brother Nick, and her sister Beth.
What I love about this story is that even though these two characters throw off enough sparks to light up a small town, because of the accident they have to put their sex lives on hold. This really forces them to slow down and learn a lot about each other and in reality; they find they have way more in common than they thought and that they genuinely like each other.
Just when things start to really heat up between the two of them, Gray’s stalking ex-girlfriend makes an announcement that throws everyone for a loop. I’ll admit there were a few times in this story that I was truly worried the happily ever after I was hoping for wasn’t going to happen. Even though the story was about Suzy and Gray, I really enjoyed the interplay between all the other characters in this book. I especially loved Gray’s parents and their words of wisdom. Not Counting on You is not your typical romance. There are a lot of layers and emotion to this short story in addition to a great cast of characters. While Sydney may be a fairly new author, I think you’ll find she has quite a way with words and I hope you’ll enjoy her works as much as I have.

I really liked the second book in this series as well, but I was a little disappointed that with Suzy. She was such a vibrant funny character in the first book. But in this book she sort of lost some of that spunk. In fact I found her very ordinary in this book. She didn't say a lot of the outrageous things she did in the first book hardly at all. That disappointed me. But I still really liked her and Gray's story. I was a little annoyed with Gray and how he handled everything concerning Reva. Especially Suzy's birthday thing. That whole part of the story seemed very out of character for Gray. He was in love with Suzy and was so afraid of messing up and yet he didn't think to call once? Ugh it annoyed me.
I did love this part though. Suzy was doped up on pain meds and was about to drift to sleep in her hospital bed after Gray told her sister he would take care of her at his house.
See? That Gray wouldn't have messed up as badly as he did, in my opinion anyway.

As she finished those last words, Gray held her hand to his lips and pressed a kiss against the palm, whispering, "I'm afraid you have to, from the moment we met, I ceased to exist without you. You've put me off as long as I can take. Ready or not Suzanna, I'm coming for you, and I don't intend to stop until I have you...forever."
See? That Gray wouldn't have messed up as badly as he did, in my opinion anyway.

This was just ok for me. The first part was really good and there was some great intensity and fun moments between Suzy and Gray.
I liked the first book in the Danvers series and really liked what I was introduced to of Suzy from that book so I was eagerly looking forward to the story of her and Gray. Unfortunately Suzy's personality that I enjoyed in the first was only evident for a couple of chapters and then for the last half she turned into something else. I missed her spunky spark when she became somewhat whiney and inconsistent. Yes, people can change their minds but she gave me whiplash with all the back and forth.

Another thing that irritated me (and a constant pet peeve for me with romance novels)is the incredible speed at which they move. I'm not talking about having sex but the dating for less than a week and declaring their undying love for each other, breaking up the next day, not seeing each other for a month but getting engaged as soon as they lay eyes on each other. HUH??? Come on!! That ending felt really rushed.
Sadly, at one point I wondered if this book had even been seen by an editor with all of the inconsitency and grammatical errors.
I will read Beth and (I assume)Nick's story but if it reads like this, I will be done with the series.

So I think I loved this book a little more than Weekends Required. Suzy and Grey's first meeting sparks flew but was wrought with bad timing seeing that Suzy's boyfriend for years cheated on her and left her high and dry. Grey still tried to pursue her but it was not until he moved from Charleston to Myrtle Beach that he kicked it up a notch. There love for each other was evident through out the pages. I loved the loop hole with crazy Reva even though it almost broke Suzy and Grey. The epilogue was a bit funny because for a second you thought it was Suzy that was pregnant but other than that it was good. I loved the fact that Suzy was oblivious to the fact that Beth and Nick were sleeping together and had been for a while. What is it about these Denton sisters that drive the Merimom brother wild. I can't wait to read about Beth's story. I think just like Grey that Nick longed for Beth but their both going to have to over come struggles to get there. I believe that just like Suzy the parents are going to love Beth and SPOILER the baby. Okay the last part is just an opinion but this book made it seem that is was Nick and Beth sleeping together so that is where I got it from.

I read the first book in this series in a day, and the second one was NO exception! I would even dare say that I liked this book more than the first one. Scratch that, I LOVED this book. It picks up on the story of Claire's best friend Suzy, and Claire's husband Jason's new deliciously yummy business partner Grayson. We met him briefly in the first book. Grayson (or Gray) has been pursuing Suzy for the better part of a year and he will stop at nothing to have her. You also meet Gray's equally yummy brother Nick, and learn more about Suzy's sister Beth. They help with all of the bumps along the road for Suzy and Gray. I found that I actually cared about all of these characters and what fate held for them. I literally laughed out loud on more than a few occasions at this read. It was SO extremely enjoyable. It had everything that I wanted in a book. GREAT plot, plot twists, drama, romance, and left me smiling by the time I was done. One of my new favorite authors! Definitely gets the recommend :)

I enjoyed this book. Suzy is a great character. I love how she get her strength from with in. I like the Suzy is who she want to be for herself. I love Gray! I love how he see who Suzy truly is! I like that Gray wants to fight for her. I enjoyed watching their story unfold. Another Great Book by Sydney Landon.

This book has a lot of emotion. I got mad, I shed a tear, I thought awww in several spots because it was so sweet and there were certainly some really well done HOT love scenes in this book. LOVED Suzy! She is awesome and only wanted for someone to love her and put her first. Awesome read!

This is one of my new favorite series. I have fallen in love with the whole Danvers International office crew. I am sure the next two books will be about Ella and Beth. Can't wait to read them. This was a great 2nd book.

I enjoyed reading this part of the Danver's Series because I felt I could relate most to Suzy. However, I have a feeling with the 3rd coming out in the Fall, I may have to change my statement for that.

I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked this book! I loved Suzi, she was strong/sexy/smart! The man Gray is perfect! The story is really well done, lots of comedy, drama, suspense, romance, and passion! I will be reading the author more often!
