This is a graphic novel that I bought for Tasha for her birthday. I decided to read it, also. Deadpool is a Marvel character that I knew nothing about until I met Tasha. He's different, funny, irreverent, kind of nasty and also: indestructible. There are also movies out with this character. Deadpool 2, coming out soon. So, I enjoyed it.
A special nod to the beautiful women who are sometimes featured in these kind of books. There is nothing wrong with admiring a good looking person.
It gets a star and a half taken away for the ridiculous costumes on every woman in this book. Seriously, objectification much? For one, your shorts should be longer than your underwear. Two, ever heard of buttons people? Sigh. Otherwise decent storyline, and at least a dozen laugh out louds
3 stars maybe 3.5 for the portions I really enjoyed. I found the story mostly entertaining but it wasn't my favorite Deadpool book. I liked the different universe concept but some of the jokes were just lame.
I really disliked the outfits all of the female characters had. Way too needlessly sexualized. There was no need for characters who are doctors or professors to be wearing underwear while working instead of pants. It was actually a little distracting because almost every page I was rolling my eyes at the way the female characters were drawn.
The only thing I enjoyed about this book are the parody covers. While I am the farthest thing there is from a prude, the improbably dressed female characters threw off the rest of the storyline. Not that there was much of a story. I gave up around issue 10 and skimmed the rest of the book.
Another great Deadpool book. Overall the whole crossover with Headpool was very funny. Only reason I gave it a 4 star, was the final issue starring Lady Deadpool. Was really a very dumb, issue. Not in a good way, or way Deadpool can be at times. Just that the plot was pretty non-existent.
I always wanted to read this volume of Deadpool. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it for a price under €60. Thank God Marvel decided to reprint it as a Classic Volume.
When you see the cover, you'd think this could be a serious zombie story. Well... It's Deadpool, so don't expect it to be that serious. The story starts pretty simple. Deadpool gets hired to retrieve a bio-chemical weapon which is located in the Savage Land. They only forget to mention that it's his zombi-verse head he has to find.
Along the way, Deadpool meets some interesting characters. Although I have to admit that the way women are portrayed, could be a bit offensive. But remember, it's a Deadpool story! Zombie Deadpool (or Headpool), is a fun character who really gives a new twist to the story. Rather than nagging all the time about being hungry for flesh, Headpool shows some interesting development. Even though he is as reckless as Deadpool himself, he too knows how to give a (dangerous) twist to an impossible situation.
I especially enjoyed the parts where Deadpool and Headpool travel to different dimensions, only to find another version of himself.
A nice story, which introduces new characters and new universes of which some could become very familiar in upcoming stories.
This volume also includes an issue of Lady Deadpool, which occurs before Deadpool travels to her universe. I didn't find this to be as interesting as I hoped it to be. You could compare it with a girl falling in love with her idol, and doing everything to win his heart. And of course, things go completely wrong. A nice story to learn more about Lady Deadpool, but it could use a better plot.
