Feels Like Home

Rate this book
Hattie Holbrook is the perfect blend of spit and polish, of humor and grit . . . growing up with eight siblings will do that to a girl, especially when six of them are boys.

Hattie has a dream to transform the old hunting lodge on her parents’ Montana ranch into a wedding venue and off-the-grid vacation destination. Silverwood might be a small town, but with its proximity to Glacier National Park and thousands of tourists each year, and Hattie knows there’s no one better than her family to provide an authentic outdoor experience.

After a year of blood, sweat, and tears, the lodge is almost ready, just in time to host her pro hockey player brother’s wedding. Everything is going to be perfect. She’s thought of every detail, and planned for every possible disaster.

Except the return of Noble Kane.

In Hattie’s mind, Noble is nothing but trouble. He’s known for it. If he can’t find it, he makes it. He’s the distraction she absolutely does not need, but thanks to her well-meaning mother, he’s her lodge’s first and only guest.

Winning the bull-riding World Championship should have Noble feeling some kind of way. Years of training, sacrificing, and giving everything to the sport had finally paid off.

But all he feels is empty. Listless. Alone.

His dream? To go back to the one place that felt like home. Never mind that when he left over a decade ago, he pretty much burned every bridge.

He’s back in Silverwood to set things right, to make amends, to pay for his mistakes, and to own up to what he did all those years ago. And it’s instantly clear that the person who’s going to be hardest to win over is the one, he only now realizes, who matters most of all.

He’s got two weeks to prove he’s changed and convince Silverwood to accept him. Two weeks to confess secrets he’s been holding onto for thirteen years. Two weeks alone with Hattie in an old hunting lodge that’s full of memories . . .

What can possibly go wrong?

My Quick Takes:
- 5/5 stars
- Genre 📚 Cowboy Romance
- Language 🤐 none
- Spice ❤️‍🔥 none/kisses only
- Content 🤔 grief, past death of family member

If you’ve read Courtney Walsh’s books before, specifically the Holidays with Hart series, and even more specifically the third book in that series, My Merry Mistake, you will be happy to know that this book has its beginnings in My Merry Mistake. The male main character from My Merry Mistake, Finn’s big Montana ranching family is the star of the show in Feels Like Home, and by show I mean a brand new series! The Holbrooks have 8 siblings and I am hoping that each one eventually gets their own book.

As mentioned above, this book had all of my favorite tropes. I’m talking cowboy romance (I’m from Texas, so duh), childhood best friends to more, second chance, forced proximity, need I say more?! I personally think childhood best friends to more adds so much extra depth and the immediate tension between the male main character, Noble, and the female main character, Hattie, was palpable. I loved the backstory and character arc of Noble, a professional bull-rider. Courtney Walsh handled his character well, and I shed multiple tears over his past and development. I always appreciate when an author can make a dual point of view book read like two separate points of view. Both characters had their own distinct voices and personalities. I also enjoy that her titles showcase an older range of characters. Hattie and Noble are in their early 30’s, and its nice to read a romance book that isn’t about young twenty-somethings (maybe that’s just my age talking lol)

Having just read My Merry Mistake when it released last year, I was pleasantly surprised at the crossover characters, again, I really hope all of the Holbrook siblings get their own books eventually. This book is set in fall, but you can read it any time of the year!

Cute! 🤠

Enjoyable but nothing was stand out or memorable. The tension between our main characters was lacking and felt more slow burn.

I've been roped in to Copper Ridge and I'm not even mad about it!

If you loved the Holidays with Hart series, you will devour this spin off series! Even if cowboy romance isn't your go to genre--it isn't mine--Courtney Walsh does a fantastic job of setting the beautiful landscape in Montana that will send you to Amazon to order a pair of boots and cowboy hat.

Hattie and Noble have such a rich and complicated past that leads to an ever better prickly and romantic future, complete with kayak rides, late night bonefires, and smalltown charm. Not to mention all the Holbrook brother's who hopefully get stories of their own.

I hope Courtney Walsh never stops writing, because she is an insta read for me. Every book, every trope, every time.

One of my longtime favorite authors writing a book in one of my very favorite sub-genres (cowboy romance)? To say I was excited about this one would be a complete understatement. I could not wait to dive into this one... and it did not let me down, proving once again just why she's been a longtime favorite. Noble and Hattie... oh, I just adored these two. There was so much complicated history between them... so much friendship, so much yearning... but also so much hurt. Discovering what had happened all those years ago and seeing them work through that history took me on a roller coaster of emotions, in the best way possible. Their romance was sweet and cozy... but it was also a great redemption story for Noble. And I love a good redemption story! If you love cowboy romance and stories that feel like coming home, this is certainly one you'll want to add to your TBR.

Feels Like Home is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language. This is a spin-off of My Merry Mistake (Hattie is Finn's sister), and while it was fun to catch up with some familiar characters and get to know this family better, you do not have to have read that one to enjoy this one.

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

✨Gifted by the author thank you so much for the copy! ✨

Courtney Walsh is about to make me a cowboy romance girly… and honestly I’m happy to join the club. 🤠❤️📚

Welcome to Silverwood! Feels Like Home brings us Hattie Holbrook a determined dreamer with big plans for her family’s Montana ranch and Noble Kane a former hometown troublemaker who’s come back carrying thirteen years of secrets and regrets. Put them together in an old hunting lodge with plenty of history and you know things are about to get interesting 👀

I loved that Courtney is building an entirely new world while weaving in familiar characters from a previous series I already adore. There’s something so fun about getting to revisit a world you love while meeting a whole new cast!

But the EMOTIONS. My heart ached for Noble and everything he’s been carrying 🥹 And Hattie’s vision for the future of the ranch had me ready to find a plot of land and start dreaming up my own little Montana getaway 😂🌾

And now I’m already wondering which Holbrook brother we’ll get next 🙌🏻🎄

I received a free advance copy of this book for review.

This was another winner from Courtney that made me both smile and cry! Feels Like Home is the start of a new series of interconnected standalone stories set on a family ranch in Montana. It is also a spin-off exploring the family previously introduced in My Merry Mistake and I loved the crossover but it can also be understood completely on its own.

I loved the beautiful setting with fall vibes as well as the chaotically loving big family dynamics. As someone who grew up as a tomboy with four brothers I found many aspects of the setup very relatable! This was a wonderful story of found family, second chances, forgiving yourself and others, and what it means to truly come home. The emotional beats hit just right for me and made for a beautiful read.

Trigger/content notes: grief, past parental abandonment. Spice level is closed door.

Definitely worth reading! But I kinda got tired of “I have to keep hating you so I don’t love you” thing and all the weird southern sayings! I did love the overlap with the Hart sisters series and I’m excited to read the rest of the Holbrook’s series!

I love a good cowboy romance and Courtney out did herself on this one! 😍 this one made it in my top reads of the year!

There is just something about two broken people figuring it all out and finally being able to come together. This is where I actually love second chance romance.

Hattie might just be one of my favorite contemporary FMCs I’ve ever read. She was so outspoken and took no one’s crap. I loved it so much. Her comebacks gave me life. She might have handled her grief of her brother’s passing and Noble leaving town without telling her not in the best way but she figured that out eventually. I loved watching her gradually forgive Noble and finally let him back in after all the trouble he went through.

Noble. I loved watching him try and make things right with the people he wronged in his youth. Especially Hattie. He kept showing up for her so that she would see him as a changed man. He was so broken inside for many reasons which lead to him doing things he shouldn’t have. Everyone handles their grief and guilt differently but it’s never too late to make things right.

I loved the slow burn in this one!! Them finally admitting their feelings and kissing was just so satisfying!!
I loved the sprinkle of Raya and Finn’s wedding!! 🥰

Courtney Walsh writing cowboy romance, my book reading world is complete.

I was absolutely delighted to have been sent an early copy of this book, I inhaled it and loved every single page of it. It was brilliant.

This book was set on Copper Ridge Ranch in the small town of Silverwood, a wonderful community to be a part of, and one id love to visit.

Hattie Holbrook grew up on Copper Ridge along with 6 brothers and a sister and their parents. When Noble, a new boy to town turned up at school and stood up for Hattie against a bully, he quickly became part of the family and one of Hattie’s best friends.

I loved Noble and Hattie, they had such a great connection and they were so much fun to read about. I loved the banter between them a lot, it made me laugh out loud several times and I had a smile on my face the entire book.

I thought the storyline was brilliant, I loved all of the characters and really enjoyed the Holbrooks as a family. They were very close and I enjoyed seeing that connection between them all. I also loved seeing how they included Noble into the mix.

I loved the ending, and now I’m patiently waiting for book two.

Such a joy to read, I recommend you add this one to your TBR.

The setting, the family & the importance of grace & forgiveness make this an absolute must read!

Hattie was stubborn with a capital S. She definitely had some healing to do, and boy did I want to shake her, but Noble was so patient. He works so hard to right the wrongs of his past & his character was just so easy to cheer for.

The theme of grace that runs throughout this book is so beautiful and Hattie’s family is the absolute best! Another winner from CW!

If Courtney Walsh writes it, I’m going to read it! I am so happy she decided to writes this series, which is a spin-off My Merry Mistake. You do NOT need to read that book and this can 100% be read as a standalone. This book focuses on Hattie, Finn’s sister from My Merry Mistake. It’s just so charming and cozy and I adored everything about it, just like all of Courtney’s books! The setting was perfect and I loved the cowboy romance vibes. What I loved most was Hattie and Noble and their dynamics. They had a complicated history and I enjoyed learning about their past and what happened years ago. I can always count on a Courtney Walsh book to leave a smile on my face and this one did just that. If you have not read one of her books yet, this is the perfect place to start!

I was so happy to get a spinoff from the Hart sisters’ books. This book was so incredibly good and just what I needed. I adored the dynamic between Hattie and Noble and I cannot wait to visit this ranch again.

Hattie was stubborn and I kept wanting to tell her, girl you are worth it! She has experienced so much heartache in her life so I completely understand that she had some healing to do and I loved that she was willing to allow that healing. The way that this book was all about grace. What a beautiful thing. I loved the steady dynamic that her parents brought to this whole story. They were the best.

Can we give it up for Noble who had the most growth. I adored getting his perspective and actively seeing his change. The aspect of grace for his story was so good.

I mean obviously if Courtney writes it I’m going to read it and this book shows why. So well done and I look forward to a Christmas book next?!

Thank you to the author for allowing me to read an early copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Holbrooks are back!

I was so excited when Courtney announced this new series and the fact that Finn and Raya's wedding was going to start everything off?! I was sold!

Noble and Hattie are a great pair. I loved their shared history, the unrequited high school crush, the second chance at romance...everything about their story! I also really loved how Courtney crafted their journey back together. It wasn't easy; it was in fact messy but it was also very real.

All in all? I cannot wait for more books in this series! This is going to be a fun one!

This was a cute read, but felt hollow. I enjoyed the Holbrook family again since I have read My Merry Mistake.

I was surprised there is a message of grace, but not the source of that grace. If I remember correctly (which I might not) in the past books like My Merry Mistake there is explicit mention of God, but that was oddly missing in this entire book. The family even has an event on Sunday with no mention of church, which seemed different than other Walsh books. This almost seemed to be missing something and maybe that is the missing piece.

Sweet

Second chance romances are one of my favorite themes. And another is the former bad boy looking for redemption. Feels Like Home has both, along with great characters and a huge family that should spawn several follow up books. I really appreciate the sweetness rather than graphic sex, which can be hard to find. I would have given it 5 stars except too much time was spent on their musings about their attraction to one another and it got repetitious very quickly. I would have preferred more time on their individual jobs, to make them more grounded.

I was so excited about this surprise book and it did not disappoint!!

First of all, I LOVED having dual POV. It really made the story and was so necessary to fully understand Noble… as well as Hattie.

I loved that Hattie fought it a bit. She felt SO relatable. I don’t always love second-chance romance because too often it feels like the hurt is glossed over or the forgiveness comes “too easy”. But in this case, it was perfect! We really felt Hattie’s dilemma while also learning more about Noble and the “why” behind his actions.

I’m so excited for Kate and Boone ?! 😍

Apparently I need to hold off on romcoms right now because nothing is hitting the spot, lol. This was a fun book and people will like/love it, I swear! I think I’ll resist sharing my thoughts this go-around because it might be a me thing. The story is sweet, clean, and has a hopeful ending (which I did deeply appreciate).

I could not put this book down. I’m ready for a whole new Copper Ridge series on the Holbrook family. There’s just something about Courtney’s writing style that brings out all the feels…the humor, the tender moments, the tears and anxiety that makes her books more than a RomCom. Loved this book and I love this author.
