As a historian, I can suggest this book both to colleagues and people that casually read about history and want to learn more about the political landscape of the 19th century. A book that explains the complex shifts of power between the european powers, the rise of nationalist movemenets, the path from empires to national states and of course the huge revolutionary movements of the 19th century, without leaving behind any details. Huge plus that there are seperate chapters that talk about the economic growth and the state and the customs that these societies had back then.

Παρότι πρόκειται για τον δεύτερο τόμο,προτείνω αυτό το βιβλίο σε όσους αισθάνονται ότι έχουν ελλιπείς γνώσεις πάνω στη σύγχρονη ιστορία της Ευρώπης.Με πολύ απλό και κατανοητό τρόπο θα αποκτήσουν μια σφαιρική εικόνα και θα μπορέσουν να προχωρήσουν τη μελέτη τους πιο ανετα!

Ισως ο καλύτερος ιστορικός συγγραφέας που έχω διαβάσει. Υπέροχος λόγος, εκτενείς περιγραφές χωρίς να γίνονται βαρετές, ενώ όλα τα γεγονότα δένουν μεταξύ τους. Νομίζω πως αυτή η τριλογία είναι το “go-to” εάν θέλεις μια πλήρη και σφαιρική παρουσίαση της ιστορίας της Ευρώπης. Όχι με στεγνό και «διδακτικό» τρόπο, αλλά με λόγο και κείμενα που σου επιτρέπουν να εντρυφήσεις και να αφομοιώσεις τη γνώση.

Nu ma pricep eu ca sa judec daca o carte de istorie e buna au ba; eu stiu ca asta mi se pare excelent scrisa, in detalii exact cate trebuie.
**Foarte fain unghiul de vedere dinspre Germania lui Bismarck si Franta lui Napoleon al-III-lea.
