Meet Frog and Toad as they discover the true meaning of friendship. Sometimes it is not so easy, like the day that Frog goes off by himself, leaving Toad to worry that he's lost his friend. But whether they're in Frog's garden or Toad's house, or even in Toad's unusual dream, Frog and Toad are always best friends.
Frog and Toad are Friends, Days with Frog and Toad, and Frog and Toad Together are Arnold Lobel's most beloved legacy to young readers. Both new fans and old will love having these favorite Frog and Toad books together in one volume, for hours of nonstop Frog and Toad stories. (--dust jacket flap)
Arnold Stark Lobel was a popular American author of children's books. Among his most popular books are those of the Frog and Toad series, and Mouse Soup, which won the Garden State Children's Book Award from the New Jersey Library Association.
Delightful buddies, this duo encounter challenges and rewards together in fun, funny, and compelling stories. A joy to engage, whether young or old, with morals and lessons to be told. Simple words are easy for children to understand, while concepts are basic though perhaps difficult for even us adults to remember to practise. Excellent anytime, anywhere reading with resonating tales.
2025 is the year I want to feel that sense of wonder and whimsy again when it comes to my reading, so what better way to start by reading children's literature!
Starting with Frog and Toad was a great and spectacular idea.
Each story was inspirational, funny, quirky, and even as an adult I related to them (for instance, their willpower to not eat cookies, but Toad simply saying he was just going to bake more instead. )
I loved reading on my own and reading it to my students
The only problem with this publication is it doesn't contain all of the Frog and Toad books. I know I loved these as a child and rereading them just solidified my understanding of their quality. The art is cute, the sentence structure is appropriately simple, and none of the stories seems to lack a point or have questionable morals.
This was a really great book! I liked it because they where good friends but went through some rough times. It made me think about the friendships I had too! This book was one of my favorites to read when I was little and my moms favorite when she was little.
I loved it! I finished it in 15 mins or less! I loved their friendship and their bond🥹 Toad a very funny frog, also so sweet. Frog was so sweet and he cares for toad a lot. Finally, the book is so worth reading, also it’s good if you want to improve your english, and a great children book!💗

This book has mini stories in the book. Every story has a great moral for children. The book only have mini sections makes it easy to read on book and come back to other ones.
Personal Response- I chose this book because I remember my grandma used to read these books to me as a child and I loved them. Reading the book over again as an adult reassured me how fantastic and sweet the characters are. The humor is subtle but funny and the friendship between Frog and Toad is true friendship.
Purpose in the Classroom- First graders would enjoy reading the book individually because the text is large and there are only a few sentences per page. The illustrations would increase children's reading experience because they are great representations and additions to what is being said and described on the pages. Friendship is a key topic for children at this grade level and Frog and Toad's friendship demonstrates how friends should treat one another; to be loyal, share, and have fun spending time together. The teacher could discuss friendship and use this book as a guide. The book is one in a series and young independent readers that like this book can easily go onto the next book. Plot and setting are literacy elements that could be taught using the book as well.
There is a sweetness and innocence about Arnold Lobel's books. The friendship between Frog and Toad demonstrates consideration, loyalty, generosity and a great deal of sharing. Lobel is able to capture the essence of true friendships and in my opinion, it's an important thing for kids to be able to see and read about what true friendships are about. The pictures are endearing and the stories are heartening. I purchased this 3-book set for my child but also for the child of a friend. I highly recommend it to all.
This book is one of my favorites to read to my daughter. She's not quite four, but we've read this often enough that she knows the story that goes along with the few pictures. After reading "cookies" the night before she asked me, "mommy, do you know what will power is?" Love it!
Also, I will still laugh out loud sometimes at the simple, beautiful humor while reading the stories to her.
Arnold Lobel has a charming sense of humor that comes out in the antics of his two characters Frog and Toad. This is a fun series for kids learning to read independently.
