1.5 stars. So-so short paranormal m/m romance with a dash of m/m/m tossed in. This story about beta wolf Blaine finding out that his mate is one of his pack's enemies was definitely nowhere near as good as the first book. The whole thing was choppy and felt rushed and incomplete.
I loved reading this wonderful book this is a great series so far. I loved Gamble and Blaine the relationship between them. This book has a lot of sex, but it was really good I couldn't believe how strong and loving Gamble was to Blaine. This book was much better than the first book. I would recommend this book to everybody who loves paranormal and light bsdm.
60% done with the 78 pages and rage quit. No. No thank you. Creepy three ways, serious lack of safe sex, rimming, questionable consent, and none of the shitty characters I spent 81 pages with in the first short story made it to the second story with their personalities intact. Also, the new added character is a complete douche nozzle. He's completely unlikable, which is fine for your bad guy or a character on the periphery, but this guy got his own third person POV, for sobbing out loud.
Here's how far I got with this shit: 'I had a small (seriously small, almost six lines in the whole story) but pivotal role in the first story and now this story's all about me. I'm angry because my alpha and his new mate do nothing but stay home and have sex and I have no one.' 'I'm your alpha and up until a month ago I was completely heterosexual but now you can totally have a gay three-way with my mate and me!' 'Yay!' 'I'm a wild wolf and I'm the one who kidnapped your alpha's mate, who is also your alpha, (because that makes sense) and beat him up. 'You bastard! 'Yeah. Now imma have sex with you because we're mated but I'm wild and untrained so I don't know that and I want to kill everyone ever.' 'Nooooo!' 'I tied you to the bed and now imma humiliate you!' *blowjob* 'Oh noes! I love the way this blowjob feels but I don't want you to be my mate. I hope no one ever finds out.' 'Hey! Wtf is going on in this holding cell?' 'Oh no, my alphas! This wolf who's tied me to the bed and was about to force me to have sex that I was actually interested in having with him anyway because of my crazy wolf mating hormones, is the one who kidnapped your mate and almost killed him!' 'What?! He's dead!' 'Noooo! You can't, I think...he might be my mate.' 'What? Noooo!' 'I know. Noooo!' 'Noooo!' 'Yeah.' (why the fuck am I reading this? *rage quit*)
Seriously, it seems like, the moral you should take away from all of these stories is; once you find the one person you were ordained by God to find, all your problems will be magically gone.
Also, one of the main characters in this one was named Blaine and I just kept hearing Ducky from Pretty In Pink saying "His name is Blaine? That's not a name that's a major appliance!"
ETA: I actually went back and finished this, because I'm clearly a masochist, and my synopsis stands.
It was Ok. It kinda fell short. It needed to be longer and have more story. Would have liked more story on Gamble and Blaine. And less Devin. And Corey for someone who said repeatedly over and over in book one, that he wasn't gay, sure changed his tune in this when he starts a 3-ways with his friend.
I would have given this three stars like most mm novellas I read if the main characters from the first book werent totally out of character ... There is no way either of them would have been up for a threesome in the first book but yet they were in this one, I think she thought it helped this story but it didn't it just ruins my view of the first one
I have mixed feelings about this story. To be truthful I didn't felt anything while I read this short second novella in this series. Even 40% of sex didn't sing for me. Maybe if there would be actually some serious plot, then it would be interesting, but this written novella was simply easy, written for sex only. But hey some will jump for it!
Beta discovers his true mate is an extraordinarily tough enemy
This story is a mix of testosterone-driven strong Alphas taking each other, rough & tumble dominating posturing, and just a small part true mate sap. The posturing added to rough drives will be extra enticing for many readers, but didn't work well for me, especially when the mating lurve pops out in ways that seem very out of character.
2.5 stars - rounded up for Alphas taking care of their beta and the tough Fenrir reciprocating (even if off page)
I didn't like this one as well as I liked the first book. There is nothing in what we knew of Corey and Devin that would support their decision, in this book, for them to take Blaine as a third. That whole thing felt wrong.
I wish that we had more insight into Gamble's thoughts about Blaine. His switch from enemy to ally was just very sudden, and while I understand why, since it's common in this trope, it wasn't really clear just from this book.
And the silliness continues. However, I am not taking this book seriously, so I can show kindness and give it 2 stars.
I'm still in shock over Corey's sudden about-face from denying his attraction to another man, to sleeping with him with an audience... all the way to having a threesome with his Beta. Meaning, I rather skimmed this second installment.
Good premises on the story. I am always interested in reading about enemies becoming lovers. And the idea of having Blaine and Gamble in opposite camps was nicely shaped out, with valid points that kept them apart.
No idea why I'm so generous with the 2 stars. I guess... it was an ok story.
Also, I like the name Gamble, reminds me of the X-Men character, Gambit.
After getting a small taste of Blaine in first novel and liking what I saw, I was excited that I was going to see more of him here.
I thought this story fit in nicely with the first book. However, I was really put off by the three way with the Alpha, his mate and Blaine. Not because I'm a prude who doesn't like graphic sex in novels. I'm all for it if the scene fits with the story. For me, this was out of character for Corey and Devin. Until meeting Devin in the first story, Corey was straight and resisted his pull toward Devin. Skip to the second novel, Corey and Devin have seemingly done nothing but have sex for at least a month and decide to take Blaine into their bed because it's what they think he needs. That didn't seem like something Corey would be comfortable doing given how new he is to being with men. It also seemed to be a slap in the face of the idea of bonded mates.
I was also a bit disappointed with how Gamble treated Blaine whom he immediately recognized as a mater. Gamble took without permission and that didn't seem like something a loving partner would want.
The story wasn't bad but there were some wrinkles that could have been ironed out.
I'd read the first book in this series a long time ago and decided to give this one a try. Very sexy and sweet, with enough angst to keep me happy since I do happen to like angst in my books. This made you feel for both characters since Blaine was having to deal with the idea that his mate wasn't claiming him, and would be put to death in three days, and Gamble didn't want to claim his mate because Blaine was part of the enemy pack, and he did not want to force his mate to leave his pack.
I'll probably check out the rest in this series as I like the author's writing style and the stories so far, though I was a little shocked about the threesome involving the main characters from the first book.
Touch My Wolf, book two in Ms. Cole's Fenrir Wolves series does not live up to the first book. Because the page count is so short there's very little background information on Gamble which weakens the story. We all know how possessive wolves are of their mates, so I had a hard time believing that mated wolves would welcome a third into their bed. Not at all what I'd expected from this book so I'm giving it two and a half stars.
53 pages? In such a short "book" I don't understand why the author bothered with the whole threesome part at all. It confused the entire story. Gamble is such an unlikable character that couldn't get into him at all. Blaine was one of the highlights from the first story and I was disappointed in how badly he is treated and how he allowed himself to be treated. I felt like the author completely changed this character and the changes were not good.
The 2nd in a 3 part series. I feel like you really need to read all 3 as the books are too short and reference the other characters/stories too much to be effective stand-alones. All together, they made an entertaining read. One of those series the author could just end after 3 or keep making up new characters...
The ending was a bit abrupt. I would have liked to have read a little about Gamble and Blaine after their mating as they seem to have so many things to work out but I did enjoy it and I think it was a good addition to the series. I hope that their will be another one soon!
This one wasn't as good as the first story. I didn't care for Gamble's character. There was much less plot in my opinion. I didn't buy that Corey and Devin would easily invite Blaine into a threesome. This was merely on ok read for me.
I love the idea of this series. Not too sure about the roughness. The hate between the two characters. And the threesome between Blaine, Corey and Devin, I just wasn't feeling the connection. Not sure if I will continue.
Really enjoyed this one and was glad that Blaine found his mate. I hope Gamble will fit in with the pack and accept them as his own soon. I'd like to see him be friends with Blaine's friends, his old alpha doesn't deserve his loyalty!
