I loved this story! I really enjoyed the fact that the author spent the whole book building up to the "relationship" part of the romance. She took time to build up the characters and their stories - it wasn't rushed at the beginning and the rest of the book just story line to keep the book going - it flowed perfectly. While reading, the anticipation of the budding romance keep me wanting to read more and more. I was sad it was over, but also very happy with the ending! I love all her books.

This was a new to me author with a wonderful relationship building story for characters I really enjoyed getting to know. I wish I had more time to review, but I've had some personal issues that have stalled my review writing. I'm way behind in both reading and reviewing, so only a few short words and a rating until life returns to normal and I'm not so far behind.

An ARC was provided by Netgalley and the Publisher in exchange of an honest review.

“It is, for the most part. Love is complicated, it can be downright ugly, but with the two of you it can be nothing but beautiful in the end.”

Fading Memories is a story of Isabel Marie “Izzie” Nichols and Dakota Dean Jackson. Izzie’s past was a wreck. Her father died due to cancer and her fiancé, Peter left her, she mourns for her father’s death as she watches the love of her life go away. She cynic considering the pains she experienced in her past, she never wanted to love again. She lost her entire universe in her twenty four years on earth, and now, she can’t manage to have another man break her already broken heart. That was until she met her hot neighbor, Dakota Dean Jackson. His straight forwardness and the rest of him somewhat attracts Izzie in a way and she somewhat found connection towards this guy on their first meeting. She kept on denying it until she already opened up to him before she knew it.
----

Fading Memories could have been better. I love the story line despite of it being cliché, the characters and the flow of the story. I do have some issues in this book, though but I liked it.
I hated Izzies friends. They were so nosy to the point that they were dictating her decisions in her life as if she can’t make her own decisions. They also meddle with Izzie’s relationships like her heart can’t love the person she wanted, I feel pressured for her.

Second, I keep on noticing that Dakota seems to talk a lot in this book, straight forward isn’t the right term to describe him. He’s talkative, and straight forward. Okay. I take my word back, yep, he’s too STRAIGHT FORWARD as a man, but I like him. I love how he became so determined to be in Izzie’s life, how he gave her time to evaluate her feelings for him and how he takes care of her.
I think I have issues about this book was written. I didn’t feel connected most of the time and it seems like it lacks emotions. I didn’t feel convinced with regards to the situations being shown in this book as if the emotions were written for the sake of writing it and I didn’t feel anything.

Considering the story, it should have contained lots of emotions, but… it was okay.
I think it’s just me, but nonetheless, I enjoyed some parts in the book especially the last part.

3 out of 5 stars.

Izzy has sworn off relationships. After the death of her father and on the night of his funeral her fiancé Peter informed her he was moving and that they were over. After all those years together, she thought he was the one. Yes things had been strained since her father had gotten sick. Now she was determined to spend the summer redoing the beach house and spending time with her two best friends Leah and Kelsey. Now she has to deal with her new neighbor Dakota. Maybe he is built, hot and down right sexy and when they touched it sent sparks through her body. She wasn't going there.

Dakota left the design company to make it on his own. Renting the beach house he wanted nothing more then to get close to Izzy. the hard part was going to be getting her to let him.

A emotionally moving story. I really felt for Izzy. Makes you want to slap Peter. What a dog. Losing her father then her fiancé made Izzy closed off to emotions. She didn't want to be hurt again. Dakota was wonderful. Sweet, caring and he made no move to rush Izzy. He isn't sure what will happen when a past secret comes out, he just hopes it won't make Izzy run. Loved the best friends, they subtly and not subtly pushed Izzy and Dakota together. The whole time making sure she was protected. They just wanted her back to the way she was before and to see her happy. Once the secret comes out it makes the story that much more romantic and adds a whole new dimension to the story. I received a arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Grief is in two parts. The first is loss. The second is the remaking of life. ~ ANNE ROIPHE

Izzie is no stranger to loss and grief. She lost her mother when she was nine and on the day of her father's memorial her fiance leaves her when all she needed was to be held.

Dakota moves in next to Izzie. He left everything behind to find his peace in the cottage next to Izzie. He's no stranger to grief and loss and his heart has always yearned for that special person, the one his heart has always belonged to.

Izzie has constructed walls around herself and her heart. Dakota is determined to break them down.

AM Willard did an amazing job of portraying the Grief and loss in this story as well as the strength to overcome. The way she wrote Izzie's character had me feeling all of her emotions. All of the supporting characters made this story the best seller I'm sure it will be.

This is my first read by this author and it certainly won't be the last as I loved it.

It's been a nightmare of a year for Izzy as she comes to terms with that dreadful day that her father died and her fiancé left her. She's determined to give men a wide berth. Then Dakota enters her life and moves in next door.

Can Dakota break down the walls that Izzy built to protect herself?

Will Dakotas secret blow them apart?

This author knows how to balance heartbreak with some great laugh out loud moments. Let's not forget the great secondary characters. Loved it.

Fading memories tells a story about Isabel Nichols alias Izzie and his hottie-guy-next-door, Dakota Jackson. Izzie has lost her mother when she was nine. She has just lost her father also because of cancer and was left by Peter, her ex-fiancé. Being ditched by Peter, she has sworn that she has never fallen in love again. She becomes somebody who is sarcastic and cynical if it comes to a relationship with a man. However, a small incident in the beach with her neighbour, Dakota brought her continuously meetings and connection that later scared her. She's scarred because she could not take a risk of having her heart broken again. Therefore, even though Kelsey, Leah and Joseph-her three best friends encouraged her to take a chance with Dakota, she kept denying the chemistry and the connection between them two.

description

Finally, Izzie later took a chance with Dakota until a secret from the past has ruined her trust towards the guy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

In my opinon, this book is more than what I have expected. I love the story even from the beginning, I could predict its ending. However, I have some issues related to this novel.

1. The way the author described her main characters.
I do think that Izzie is too constantly told in this story. There's nothing wrong with it tho, as it's her story but in my opinion, it would be better if the author could give more roles and more touching on Dakota's character. The author can describe him as somebody who wants to possess Izzie so he becomes over protective over her. Give him more roles in this novel so the reader will not only see the dominance of Izzie.

I do not really like Izzie's character also. I think her character can be described more as independent lady who does not only listen to what her close friends say. Izzie's close friends are also too noisy in interfering her new relationship with Dakota. I feel it is somehow annoying. :)

2. I do find it's weird to have Izzie's father writing her a letter and mentioning Dakota as her love that he pushed out of her life when she was nine in chapter twenty-nine. He also told she would need someone like him. Next letter is even more weird as it's said that her father envisions her in having a son. I mean like..seriously? how can one predict one's life? is her father a shaman or something?

3. In my opinion, it would be better if the author put more emotions also in this story. I feel that the emotions and conflicts here are too flat. For instance; after Izzie found out that Dakota's father was the one who made her mother passed away, the flow written after is not so phenomenal in my opinion. It's flat..flat...flat. The author could just make it more dramatic so the readers will feel emotionally connected to Izzie's story.

Despite of the issues, I must admit that I do enjoy some parts of this book-most parts actually. I love it because Ms. Willard could write a romance story which is more elegant without exposing so many sexuality that in most other novels from other authors seem so trashy.

description

I do love some parts telling how sweet Dakota to Izzie. I love it when he took her to play the kite and tricked her so he could win and could steal a dinner moment with her.

description

I love Dakota when he took Izzie for a dance. It's so sweet of him and so romantic.

My favourite quote of this book is “Write your dreams down, toss them into the sea, and make a wish, Isabel. Life is too short to live with regrets, own today as if it was your last.”

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

For Mature Readers: 18+

I loved A.M. Willard’s "Fading Memories". It was a delightful, page turner about finding and embracing true love. The story line had that familiar ‘boy next door’ feel with a twist on it.

There were some serious laugh out loud moments throughout the book. Many of them involved situations of utter embarrassment for the main character, Isabel Nichols (Izzie).

I loved the characters in "Fading Memories". Dakota, the man next door, was my favorite and new book boyfriend. He was patient, kind, devoted to Izzie, and hot. He always knew the right thing to do or say. Just the kind of man women dream about (which Izzie did). I even loved Izzie. Her determination was admirable. She wanted to solve her own issues, but she lacked the self-confidence to really do so. Her weaknesses were so obvious, but Willard gave her room to grow (and she did). Another great character was the unseen one, Izzie’s father. Everything he did was in his daughter’s best interest (so he thought). I loved his words to Izzie (read the book and you’ll understand this). Izzie was surrounded by well-meaning friends who loved her to death and wanted to protect her fragile soul.

"Fading Memories" contains a few well-placed sexual references, but they are necessary to the story. They don’t feel like they were thrown in for the sake of having a romance.

Contemporary romance stories are like palate cleansers for me after reading a lot of heavy hitting, creepy stories. Willard’s novel was refreshing and did everything I needed in a well-crafted love story. I highly recommend this book and I look forward to read more from her.

~I was given this for an honest review~
This is such a remarkable book about finding and opening yourself up after having your heart shattered. Izzie, is beyond heartbroken. Between her dad passing away and her fiance leaving her in one day, she has shut down her heart. She only lets her close friends in. Enter Dakota, he's the handsome charming man next door who's determined to win Izzie's heart. Let's just say she makes him earn it and doesn't take it easy on him. I absolutely love her friend, Kelsey. She is one of these characters that you want as your best friend. She tells you straight up no bs with what's going on. She doesn't sugar coat it all and that's exactly what Izzie needs in her life. Kinda sounds like myself in a way, could be why I like her so much.
After listening to her best friend and coming to terms with all that happened, she is determined to live again. She takes baby steps and just when she's about to open her heart to Dakota, he drops a huge bomb on her. With the help of her friends and the love she has for him, she recovers just fine. This book is a reminder to us all about moving on and finding the right people in our lives to help heal us again. I absolutely loved this book and would recommend this to everyone I know. Very well done!!

LEEANN'S REVIEW
4 STARS

Izzy has had a rough trot. 12 months ago, she lost her father & fiancé all in the one day. He father passed away & her fiancé left her.

Dakota knows from the moment he lays eyes on her that Izzy is his. Now he just needs to convince her of that. The only thing standing in
his way is one whoppa of a secret.

This is a good story, it is a little bit long in some parts but overall it Is still full of all the ingredients that make a good love story.
The characters are likeable. In the beginning, Izzy is a bit nasty to Dakota, but in all seriousness if I had friends that interfered in my life
as much as hers did, I would have snapped big time. Given all the grief they give her trying to push her into doing what they think she should do
I think she held it together quite well.
Dakota is the typical alpha, he is very protective of Izzy & she cannot understand why when they barely know each other. He is likeable but at times
I started to think he wasn’t very good at taking the hint when it was given!! He earns bonus points for persistence that’s for sure!

There are some funny moments & some really super sad ones. Overall this is a great holiday read & I would be interested to read more
by this author.

Memories sometimes sustain us when we are in pain. The sweetest memories help us hope for a better tomorrow when our lives are in turmoil. Painful memories help us grow and strengthen our character. They make us think and analyze what went wrong. Sometimes we find our answers... sometimes it takes some time to fade those memories so we can move on. "This is our story, it's about how memories fade away, and new beginnings start."

Izzie is trying to mend her heart after losing her father and her fiance all in the same week.
The father she adored and the man she thought was her forever - unbearable loss! A year has passed and now it is Summer again. She is trying to take control of her life, remodel the family beach cottage she inherited, and hopefully move on.

The cottage next door has been sold and the new neighbor is positively delicious to look at. The attraction is immediate and the relationship that almost does not happen is a story full of romance, sweet and painful memories, and relentless pursuit of the happiness we all wish for. Beautifully written, this book is nostalgic and full of interesting propositions. If you are a romantic at heart, this is the book for you. Enjoy!

It's no secret I love Mrs. Willard and her books.

I was fortunate to get a sneak peek of this book. I had no idea what to expect but I enjoyed it from start to finish.

Izzie is a woman who's suffered her fair share of loss and heartbreak. Still recovering from her father's death and the her fiance walking out on the same day, she's understandably disappointed in life and love.

Dakota moves in next door and Izzie can't deny there's something there, but too afraid to risk it, she pushes him away. But he won't give up and won't take no for an answer. He works hard to break down Izzie's defenses but Dakota is carrying a secret of his own. Once she finds out, will they be able to make it work?

Surrounded by a super fun supporting cast, this book will make you laugh, make you cry and make you stop to appreciate the love surrounding you.

I recommend this read and hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Good story about having to move forward. I really enjoyed it and the relationship between the two main characters. Makes you want to really keep reading.
The reason why I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 was because I would have liked to know a little more about what happened in the end. My personal preference, nothing against the book, author or story line :)

This was quite an enjoyable read and I was pleasantly surprised. I won't go into a description here as many have already done that but I have to say that the first half caused me irritation with the heroine. She was mouthy, negative and just not that nice to be around. Once the story hit approximately 60% I was all in and glued to the story, unable to put it down, until the wonderful HEA!

I will definitely read more of A.M. Willard's work.

Anyone who has read any of my previous reviews knows that I’m a sucker for second chance romances. Second chance stories gives the reader hope that a bad choice or decision can be rectified or reversed. The only thing that makes the story better is if the second chance has a little twist to it. Fading Memories is a second chance romance with a twist so it goes without saying I’m a fan.

Fading Memories is a tale of loss, grief, determination, and moving forward. Isabel Nichols, the main character, is an only child devastated by the death of her father. To make this loss even more emotional, her fiancé leaves her when she is so broken and grieving. Alone without any family Izzy finds herself emotional and unable to shake off her depression. The story picks up a year after these events and Isabel’s determination to make changes and finally try to move forward.

Dakota Jackson is Isabel’s new neighbor. He is a very attractive young man who immediately shows an interest in Izzy. From their first meeting he is obvious about his desire to be friends and often hints that he wants more. There is also something that Dakota is holding back and not ready to share with Izzy or anyone for that matter. The banter between Isabel and Dakota is refreshing and fun.

The story is well written. I started reading Friday evening and finished the story the next day. Generally the book flows with such ease that I never felt bored nor did I want to put it down for a break. The setting and story line are realistic; I never felt myself giving an eye-roll or hand-wave.

The characters are developed in a way that the readers wants to know everything about them. I really like Dakota. He is very patient and kind. He is determined to help Izzy move forward and put the recent past behind her. His character, to me, feels more developed then Izzy is some ways. As I sit here thinking about the story I think it is because I don’t understand some of Izzy’s reactions to Dakota’s kindness and obvious deep feelings for her.

The supporting characters are great. Kelsey, Leah, and Joseph are Isabel’s close friends. They have her best interest at heart and encourage her every step of the way through her grief. Joseph is like a brother in many ways. They are her support group who tells it like it is. I can see where any of these characters can spin-off in another book.

This is the first book by A.M. Willard in my library but I’m sure it won’t be my last. It has a little angst, engages the reader and has a very sweet second chance theme. A great book to spend time with.

“Fading Memories” was not on my reading list this week, however, the other day I was trolling around the Kindle store on Amazon, saw this and wanted to read it! I have never read anything by A.M. Willard but so glad that I did! This was the perfect way to spend a summer afternoon sitting out on the deck, and imagining I was actually on Tybee Island watching the waves crashing. This is the story of Isabel Nichols (Izzie), a teacher on summer break that is beginning to redecorate her beach cottage. Izzie has had a heart breaking year of losing her Dad after a long illness and having her fiance Peter break up with her the day of the funeral. She has great friends – Kelsey, Leah, and Joseph – but hasn’t really been herself since everything fell apart at once. Then one day, she has a new neighbor, and this neighbor is incredibly hot, sexy, and sweet! Dakota moves into the cottage next to Izzie and begins shaking up her safe, controlling, heart-broken life. Dakota comes on pretty strong as far as wanting to just hang out and spend time with Izzie, and her friends love him so they keep encouraging his presence, but she is all cranky and impolite about it. Eventually, she softens to Dakota and considers the possibility of falling in love again, but of course, Dakota has something he hasn’t told her, so enter more complications.

Let me start by saying that I didn’t like Izzie at all until about halfway through the novel. Then I started liking her a little bit, then decided I loved her! While reading, I tried to remind myself of the things that had occurred in her life to make her such a bossy, cranky person, but as the story develops, so does Izzie. I loved Dakota from the start except he was somewhat pushy at first, and then you find out what he is keeping from her and sort of wonder why, but otherwise, he’s fantastic. This is not a life-changing read by any means, but is definitely a page-turner and you quickly find yourself invested in the characters and worrying/wondering about the resolution of the story! “Fading Memories” stands out to me as far as romance novels because of the message of letting go of the bad that’s happened in our lives, and how important it is to rebuild yourself and find happiness. People have a tremendous ability to move past heartache and loss when they are ready and willing to let happiness back into their lives. Overall this novel reminds us to be grateful for what we have now and what we have to look forward to in the future. Additionally, it touches a little on soul mates and some things just being meant to be, which I always love. I truly enjoyed this novel and look forward to reading more from A.M. Willard in the future!

This was a wonderful story! I loved that Izzy spoke her mind and took her embarrassing moments in stride. She's tough on the outside but fragile on the inside. Her snarky side towards Dakota had me laughing out loud.

"…let me tell you now, you call me 'woman' again and YOU…WILL…WEAR…THIS…BOTTLE."

I thought Dakota was more sweet than alpha. He has been in love with Izzy for years and was determined to tear down the walls around her heart. He was the perfect mix of patient and determined.

"I want to be the man who takes the pain away. Don't ask me why, I just know it’ll be me."

The BFFs – LOVED them!! Kelsey, Leah, and Joseph were a riot. Izzy couldn't have surrounded herself with a better group of friends.

~~~~~~~~~~Tracy's ★★★★★ Review~~~~~~~~~~
Isabel lost her Mother at a young age but she had her Father to hold onto. She loved him and he was her life and then in one night she loses not only him but the man she loved. Time has past and with the help of her friends she is feeling stronger. She decides to change her beach front home that belonged to her Father. She meets her new next door neighbor Dakota and he is so annoying, stubborn, hot, nice, hot and he will not go away.
This story was amazing but prepare to have tissues on hand. The story of Izzie and Dakota was sweet but what really touched me was the love that was shown on the pages. The depth of emotion surprised me and touched my heart. You feel the true meaning of soulmates in this book. Having that one person in your life that touches you and you always feel them. A.M. Willard is an amazing author the way she weaves her story into your heart and it becomes part of you. I was so sad to finish this book because these are characters I will miss. This is definitely a must read and a must re-read.
~~~~~~~~~~Virginia's ★★★★★ Review~~~~~~~~~~

AM Willard has bought an excellent book. We meet Izzy and her daughters that are characters unto themselves, and of course the guy next door Dakota. I highly recommend this book as you won't be disappointed. She writes this book with so much emotional story about loss, love, laughter, healing and moving on. Izzy does her best to fight her attraction to him although that seems hard for her as he catches her staring at him, she just doesn’t feel that she deserve a chance with Dakota. Will Izzy give into hers and his desires? Well to find out you will just have to read it for yourself

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE BOOK

This is the guidebook of second chances, of learning that no matter what life dishes up you have to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get on with it. It is about learning to love again, not only someone else but also yourself.
The story is about Izzie and Dakota and I have to say that they were just two of the best characters I have read in a long long time.
Izzie and her girls – who are hysterical by the way, live next door to Dakota, and you would have to be blind not to give the man an admiring glance.
But Izzy has her head elsewhere after the death of her father. She is also dealing with an ex that quite frankly needs to get the heck out of her life. He really was an ass.
Life for Izzie is routine, she has her pattern and as much as she may not want to admit it – she really needs to change things up a bit, she is old before her time. So when she meets Dakota it was so special, this immovable woman, so entrenched in her ways, up again a man that just calls it as he sees it and he sees a woman that he wants.
Now, not one to accept change she does what she does best and digs her heels in, refusing to see what is right in front of her face but this is one lesson she is going to have to get with the program pretty damn sharpish because the “wall of muscle” isn’t taking no for an answer.
So can she loosen her grasp on the reigns and give in to what is blatantly obvious that they both want? Or will her barriers force Dakota to walk away?
The shenanigans between the two of them were just spectacular, honestly I was hooked by their tale and their characters.
But I have to say that the author was super clever by introducing Izzie’s daughters into the fray, they were just fantastic, and they were funny, loving and totally the only things that were keeping her sane. They kept her focussed and showed her what life really could be, that she had plenty to give and that she had to cut loose.
The book is beautifully evocative and exquisitely sensitive.

3.5 Stars. Original review at www.125pages.com

I received this book for free from My Book Tour in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Fading Memories is called a Mature Contemporary Romance, so it threw me off when in the first chapter a character says “Bitch please…” To me a mature novel features characters after forty and the speech of the characters did not match that age level. So for the first third of the book I was confused, as no age was attributed to the characters and they spoke as if they were early to mid 20’s, but the “mature” label was there and it was what I kept remembering. Then about 30% in there was a scene in which the main character speaks about moving out of her dad’s house in with her boyfriend and the time frame would put her at 25ish at the time of the story. Once I got that in my head the book was a much easier read. Isabel as a wounded lead was a very strong character and her emotions leapt off the page. The male lead Dakota, while not as strong, was still a solid player and brought a grounding to the story. The seaside setting was very rich, and was practically a character in its self. All told this was a good story. Feeling abandoned by all but a few friends Isabel locks her emotions inside and creates a hard shell. Dakota does all he can to break through despite hard resistance. This was a nice book that with some clarity on the age of the characters or the category could have pushed it to a higher level.

◊ Favorite lines – “How will I ever love again? How can you love someone with your whole heart when you don’t have a whole one left? There’s an organ inside my chest that beats; it pumps blood throughout my body, but it’s dead. No amount of therapy, CPR, or love will bring it back to life.”

Isabel has had one seriously rough and rocky past. She lost her father and her fiancé all at the same time. While her father passed away her jerkoff of a fiance decided to leave her high and dry. Now Izzy finds herself back at the beach house where she grew up, a place she loved, feels at home. Thank god this girl has her best friends near her because Izzy is seriously lost.

“I don’t want to cry- I’ve done nothing but cry for months. I want to smile. I want to believe. I want control back in my life” ~ Isabel

Dakota is Izzy’s neighbor down the beach. He is immediately attracted to Isabel but she is stubborn and does her best to continually push him away but our boy Dakota isn’t giving up so easily. With a little help from her friends (who have become Dakota’s too) she finally starts to let him in, but just when she finally feels like she can live and love again a bomb is dropped.

Once the secret comes out, can she move past it? Can Dakota move past the real reason he is living on the same beach, can he let go of the past?

I enjoyed this story. The characters are likeable and Isabel’s friends had me cracking up, one could only wish to have friends like she has that support her in every way. Once Izzy let go I felt like I could like her a little more, she was downright nasty in the beginning of the story to Dakota but it was part of the story because of what she experienced in the past year. Dakota is just a swoony alpha male and I really loved his character. You will find yourself laughing and you’ll find yourself in tears with this one. 4 Stars for Fading Memories!

Very grateful to have been lucky enough to receive an early copy of this book.

I adore this book as it is a beautiful and touching story about loss, love, laughter, healing and moving on. Surrounded by the BEST and funniest daughters in the world, Izzie has some fun and interesting adventures with Dakota, the sexy swoon worthy to the max hottie living next door. Oh Dakota I'm still thinking about you and your blunt ways. Izzie, being deeply sad and quite cranky due to her loss of her father and an ex that is from hell, needs a big change in her life and fast. Although apparently she did not get this memo as she is a tough and uptight woman not looking for any changes. Then she meets Mr Super sexy, Dakota. with his "magnificent wall of muscles" (as Izzy says) and is immediately surprised by his bluntness and obvious attraction to her. Izzy, being a stubborn woman, does her best to fight her attraction to him although that seems hard for her as he catches her staring at him often while licking her lips. Will she soften up and give into hers and his desires? Will Dakota get fed up waiting and move on?

What an excellent book. Not only were Izzy and Dakota great main characters, so were Izzy's daughters. Oh the fun they have with their mom is infectious. I loved these girls they were so much fun and the genuine love and appreciation they have for their mother is just beautiful. They were also very good for Izzy and helped her stay strong, sane, laughing, and helped her to grow. I highly recommend this book and this author AM Williard as you won't be disappointed in either, I promise. I truly hope she writes another book in this series and FAST.

Just a few pages into this story, I could already tell that it was going to rock me emotionally. I related to many of Izzie's feelings and my heart ached for all of the pain that she had endured. Her tough-girl exterior appeared as if it was getting harder and harder to pull off after she met Dakota. I had to admire his drive to get to know her and overcome her barriers. He was quite the character and I thought his cocky arrogance just might be able to break down the emotional walls surrounding his next door neighbor. When Izzie ran into Peter at the store and was forced to interact with him, my blood was practically boiling. Already in the book, I found him to be a deplorable human being for leaving her when she needed him the most. When Izzie finally started to open up to Dakota, I knew that it was very special. I understood completely her need to close off her emotions for fear of becoming immersed in the pain. When Izzie finally finds the strength in herself to speak her mind to Peter, I was absolutely thrilled. I wanted to give that girl a high-five for sticking it to him! I was so ready for her to grab happiness with both hands. And then Dakota's secret comes out... and my jaw just about hit the floor. I totally didn't see that twist coming at all and I could barely put the book down because I needed to know what would happen next. As things rushed toward the ending, it was bittersweet to watch Izzie make realizations, and the letters left behind for her were real tear-jerkers for sure. By the ending, I was very pleased with how everything had worked out. This was a beautiful story that reached deeply into my soul.

The house next door to Izzie has been empty for awhile, when movement next door catches her eye. She is very curious who bought the house. When she saw the owner of the house she dropped a bag with wine in it onto the concrete. Dakota just moved in next door to Izzie. Izzie has been hurt a lot in this last year, loosing her father and her fiance all in 24 hours really hurt her. Her friend Kelsey is the one who had to put her back together after Peter split. Kelsey, Leah and Joesph want Izzie to get back ,on the horse and try with Dakota.
Izzie is a teacher and she finally is getting her house set up and painted the way that she wants it to be painted. She is a very stubborn person. Dakota is the new neighbor, he has a secret that only he and his brother David remembers. David is Dakota's brother, he likes to start trouble. Kelsey is Izzie's friend, she is a teacher and she is very protective of Izzie. Leah is Izzie and Kelsey's friend, she isn't a morning person. Has feelings for Joesph. Joesph has feelings for Leah, he became friends with Dakota. Izzie, Kelsey and Leah's go to person. Peter took a job in Houston, Izzie's ex. He is back in town.
This book drew me in from the first page. There were some things that I didn't see coming. I truly loved how well this story is written and how well the characters were developed. I couldn't help but feel connected to the characters.

Fading Memories by A.M. Willard

❤❤❤❤❤

New to me Author!

Wow! This is a beautiful and well written story. I can tell this is a labor of love just by its presentation. Starting with the cover. Beautiful!! Perfectly placed hints throughout the story come full circle at the heartwarming end. Identifying and relatable events have put this read in my Favorite category.

Meet Isabel "Izzie" Nichols, a young woman who has been through hell since she was a young girl...  certain events have happened the past few years causing her to have trust issues and a huge wall up. I can relate! Very believable character, likable, and personable.

Enter Dakota Jackson, the new neighbor who takes an instant liking to Izzie. He is so adorable in his own way. I really enjoyed how he handles Izzie. Well depicted and lovable. Just what secrets does be hold? I'll never tell. Two hearts and souls destined to be... Will they figure it out??

This is the first time I have read this authors work.. I Love the crisp, clear, and clean writing style. Easy to follow, fast paced with a mysterious flow throughout. Well Done A.M. Willard!

Highly recommend!

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Fading Memories by A.M. Willard is a romance about destiny and soul mates.

Isabel (known to her friends as Izzie) is alone. Her parents are deceased and her boyfriend left her for someone else. She is throwing herself into home improvement projects at the beach house she inherited from her parents. She seemed very cantankerous and ornery, but had some steadfast friends that stuck with her.

Dakota is Izzie's hunky next-door neighbor. He is helpful, protective and very familiar with Izzie (which seems to annoy her to no end).

Friends see their mutual attraction long before Izzie is willing to acknowledge it. Izzie's ex-boyfriend pops up and isn't too keen on the attraction. Dakota being a gentleman gives Izzie everything she needs including the time and space to stand on her own.

Without giving away the plot, this sweet romance is about fate, destiny and true love conquering all. A must-read for all of us hopeless romantics.
