Everyone called her Lucky, but Clover never felt like luck was on her side. After losing both of her parents in horrific ways, Hank and Diva, her parents’ best friends, stepped in and raised her as their own.
Clover found love young, but happily ever after soon felt more like a myth than a promise. With her best friends and family beside her, she did her best to navigate life, until she realized everybody around her wasn’t rooting for her.
Some enemies came disguised as friends. Others shared her blood. As old flames reignite and buried feelings resurface, loyalties shift, relationships unravel, and bonds are pushed to their limits.
Friendships crack, family ties are tested, and the people Clover trusts most may be the ones hiding the biggest betrayals.
When jealousy, betrayal, and lust begin to outweigh love, Clover is forced to see the people closest to her for who they really are. For a woman called Lucky, love may prove to be the one gamble she can’t afford to lose.
Chenell had done it again! I think this is one of her best books that I’ve read. She integrated characters from her previous works - Never Knew Love Like This - and gave us an update on while writing a whole brand new story. Clover and Dash had me in tears laughing because they were both wild! The entire cast was amazing and I reallly enjoyed the storyline!
I typically enjoy Chenell’s books because of her attention to detail, relatable characters, and well-developed storylines. Unfortunately, the very things I usually appreciate about her writing worked against this book for me
There were entirely too many characters, POVs, and unnecessary backstories. It felt like every storyline came with a backstory to another backstory. Also, some of it was repetitive. The issue wasn’t just the number of characters, but also not being able to invest emotionally in so many different storylines before the other was sufficiently executed. I found myself wondering what the actual plot was.
Dash and Clover 👎🏽 The author repeatedly gave me reasons why these two don’t work together while also surrounding them with people who treat their relationship like some great love story. Their childhood connection, shared daughter, and family history weren’t enough to make me root for them at all. They’re divorced, still involved, and still engaging in the same toxic behavior. What exactly am I supposed to be rooting for? Their reconciliation? Their separation? I genuinely didn’t care either way and got tired of hearing about them.
Then there’s Clover. I didn’t necessarily dislike her, but I wasn’t particularly impressed by her either. It felt like the author surrounded her with an entire supporting cast whose purpose was to reinforce how special, loved, accomplished, and deserving she was. Meanwhile, anyone who took issue with that treatment was conveniently portrayed as jealous, bitter, or antagonistic. Creating women we’re supposed to dislike doesn’t automatically make the women we’re supposed to love more compelling.
We've got Dash cheating on Clover. Monty stringing Caprice along while wanting Iva. The twin entertaining Kimber while still JUST ending things with crazy Alva, Alva becoming another jealous woman confronting the woman he actually wants. Hank and Diva were separated because he won't leave the streets. Montrell and Tru are having problems because he won't settle down. The same conflict recycled through different couples.
There was plenty happening, but very little I felt invested in. I usually appreciate the depth Chenell brings to her stories, but this one felt overcrowded rather than well-developed. At 43%, I simply wasn’t interested enough in any of the characters or their storylines to continue.
As always Chenell you never disappoint us. I love this book and all the characters had me all in from beginning to end. That Dash had to killing myself laughing at him when he said he didn’t need that stuff because he’ll be dead anyway and then had the gun to his head talking about killing his self then saying I got a daughter why would I have a loaded gun under the sofa. lol that took me out. I love how each couple finally got their lives together and got their happy ever after. Also I’m glad we got a little update from some of the people from Never Knew Love Like This. Now all we need is a book from the twins and their ladies I know that will be too funny. Awesome job. Keep up the amazing work.
Once again my bestie Ms pen pimping Queen Parker has set the tone and she came with a standalone that should really be a movie, I was seeing pictures of everything going on and I was stuck cause babyyy I loved everyone in this book even the damn hating villains, I actually seen Clover whooping Dash and Sade butt yes I did, Ms Parker please don’t have us waiting some more years before you give us another good book, you could do a finale to this book with the twins and Montreal being a dad I know that would be funny and add the characters from My little secret and this characters as well like a recap on every one just a thought…. Great job loved it 😊🌹💝
I love Chenell Parker stories! "His Four Leaf Clover"☘️ is just another example of how great Chenell Parker books are! I was not surprised that after her tragic beginning that Clover ended up staying with Hank and Diva. I was surprised that Clover and Dash had married, had a child and were divorced, although they never stopped loving each other. Brother Monty 💩ed and stepped in it, and out of pride and hurt feelings, brought the 💩 home with him. Fonzo was the only one who seemed to have some sense, along with a normal life. There were many snakes in this story trying to keep our couples apart, but they got dealt with! Shout out to DIVA! She was the truth!
I won’t give this a rating because this just isn’t for me. I struggle with being invested with couples already established at the beginning of the book. As well as they were kinda toxic together lol. I got to about 40% and had to let it go. I know Chenell Parker’s books are normally a messy good time but some of the tropes I can’t do. Please read and form your own opinions. Chenell Parker is still that girl.
Initially, I was a little confused because I didn’t read the books that were recommended before reading, but I pushed through and am glad that I did. Absolutely loved it. The book was well written and quite interesting. I loved the close knit family and friends’ ties. There were lots of characters and I loved them all. I think that my favorite was grandma Dot. She definitely didn’t mince her words.
Three stars because of the way they ended Trent. It could have been better than that. Once I realized what they were doing I almost dnf’d this book. It was a ton of characters. Not really a plot. Kind of like a soap opera. A lot of fluff info. Took me a few days to read this so it was as good as this authors other books.
I really enjoyed this book by Chenell Parker. It was fast and just a little drama. I can’t believe that Trent got away with so much stuff. His mother was his downfall after being told several times that he needed help. He would not accept the fact that he needed help. Great story, Chenell.
This was an another great book. You did it once again Chennell baby Trent was crazy crazy and his mother knew that boy needed help. I love how all the brothers loved their women unconditionally. That Caprice got hers…. I love how Sage changed her life. And last but not least Diva baby I love how she was down for her Daughter in laws
A lot of heartbreak at the beginning, (knew Dash would be a good problem 😆.) Love Diva and Hank, truly good hearted parents. Clo,Monty,Caprice,Trent,Trudy and Dash learned the hard way that impulsive behavior as adults will always result in horrible consequences.
As always, Chenell Parker you have done it again! I loved how Cashmere, the twins, and Carmelo came about in the story. Can we say another spinoff to get their stories??!?😁
Let me say thank you to Chenell for dropping another 5 star read. The book game was definitely missing you. All I have to say is read this book, u will fall in love with it.
Read this book all night, from the beginning to the end, gave us drama, stalkers, fighting, psychos, denial, and then a beautiful ending ❤️. I'm satisfied with my favorite, until the next book.
This is my first time reading a book by this author and I was not disappointed. This book kept me entertained the entire time. Diva, Clover and Dot had me laughing the whole book. Looking forward to reading more of your work.
As always Chenell Parker always delivers!!! What makes me mad it just takes so long to get another amazing book!!!! Come on Chenell let’s keep these wonderful stories coming!!!!
Good book, but sooo many unnecessary characters and pov's. It really took away from an otherwise good plot. I love this author though so I'll definitely keep reading anything she drops!
I really enjoyed this read. I missed her writing and savored this one all week. I love the unique relationship between Clover and her in laws. They truly loved her as a daughter. Dash was obsessed even though it didn’t stop the drama.
Her books always capture your attention. It’s real and relatable. Not over dramatic or exaggerated with drama and things I love it. Can’t wait til her next book
It was over toooo fast even with it being 400 and something pages😩.. The book was so good and it was good to catch up with cash and her crazy brother in laws.
