Deep in the heart of winter, things are beginning to shift for the Zoo Crew. Drake Bell is wrapping up his last days in law school and preparing to take the bar exam. Kade Keuhl has finally relented and agreed to apply for his private investigator's license. The ski lift at the local Snow Plaza has grounded everybody from hitting the slopes. And Emily, Drake's former college flame, is back in town looking to make him an offer that could alter everything moving forward.
A hundred miles east of Missoula, just outside of Butte, the mansion of reclusive billionaire Wes Koenig is burned to the ground. A radical new accelerant is used to reduce the place to rubble in a fraction of expected time, leaving local law enforcement stumped and heightening the impetus to apprehend whoever is responsible.
Working under the constraints of expectations and growing unrest, a much deeper story unfolds than anybody anticipated. What started as a simple case of arson soon begins to stretch back a decade in length, encompassing land deals gone bad, deep personal ideologies, and activism taken to its ugly extreme.
I originally hail from the midwest, growing up in the heart of farm country, and still consider it, along with West Tennessee, my co-home. Between the two, I have a firm belief that football is the greatest of all past-times, sweet tea is really the only acceptable beverage for any occasion, there is not an event on earth that either gym shorts or boots can't be worn to, and that Dairy Queen is the best restaurant on the planet. Further, southern accents are a highly likeable feature on most everybody, English bulldogs sit atop the critter hierarchy, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with a Saturday night spent catfishing at the lake.
Since leaving the midwest I've been to college in New England, grad school in the Rockies, and lived in over a dozen different cities ranging from DC to Honolulu along the way. Each and every one of these experiences has shaped who I am at this point, a fact I hope is expressed in my writing. I have developed enormous affinity for locales and people of every size and shape, and even if I never figure out a way to properly convey them on paper, I am very much grateful for their presence in my life.
To sum it up, I asked a very good friend recently how they would describe me for something like this. Their response: "Plagued by realism and trained by experiences/education to be a pessimist, you somehow remain above all else an active dreamer." While I can't say those are the exact words I would choose, I can't say they're wrong. I travel, live in different places, try new foods, meet all kinds of different people, and above all else stay curious to a fault.
Here's hoping it continues to provide us all with some pretty good stories...
Three friends -a brand new lawyer, his PI friend and techno guy, come off the ski hills to find high school buddy charged with arson, upgraded to murder...all on circumstantial evidence.
Taking time off school work and skiing, the friends investigate other suspects. The group starts investigating the circumstantial evidence and find flaws. With the energy of youth, they travel to several small towns, investigating, talking to leads.
Interesting perspective to crime solving...shows that hard work is rewarded!
This was interesting as well as entertaining. How can an innocent person be sent to prison with evidence they believe is convincing? How does the media determine the way an investigation goes? How about the police department with considerations of reputations, career choices, aren't they allowed to be human? If they make mistakes, how do they psychologically handle impacts that cannot be changed?
Love the Zoo Crew! Glue Guy has it all. Education in an industry I would not have known about. Intrigue - how can this be the suspect. How will they find the right murderer? Everybody jumps in an does their part - the chase is on. And what a ride it is. Hop on for the adventure. Could not put down.
As always, I enjoy the Dustin Stevens books, the zoo crew is one of my favorites, good action, good read, good people. Not on the edge of my seat, but comfortable, wanting to read #5 now that I’m finished with #6. One small issue, though there were less grammatical and editing errors in this one, those proof reading need to clean up their act a bit.
Another suspense thriller from the Zoo Crew Series . I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the complete series. All are well written and full of suspense . I recommend that they are read in in order written. I highly recommend this author.
The Glue Guy is a great book, good storyline, everything... it just has so much editing that needs to be done, the errors detract from the plot. Believe me, I have a problem with grammar and punctuation, but I'm not a published author! All that aside, Drake and the Zoo Crew are the heroes again...was there ever a doubt? As an almost attorney, Drake has great intuition and the need to fight for the rights of the wrongly accused. The author is good at explaining details needed to backup his story.
I love it when the title reflects the person of interest. And the title is definitely true of this guy. The slovenly acts of law-enforcement, probably way too much truth in all the stuff , which is really pissy. Wondering if this is Drake's last case as a student. A case that is overwhelming to everyone else. Amazing what you'll find if you just look!!
Well Mr. Stevens has brought his A game again!!! Anyone with an ounce of compassion cannot read the first chapter of this book and not be hooked. Tyre and Kara are such a great couple, the detectives are total opposite s, and of course the Zoo Crew are, as always, lovable. I dare anyone to try it.
I read this book nearly three years ago and just realized I never reviewed it. Since I read it in one day and rated it 5 stars, I have to conclude that it was fast-paced with likeable characters and a story that insured I'd finish and enjoy it. Sorry, Mr. Stevens - I'll do better next time.
This was an interesting story that unfolded nicely into more than you would first expect. I liked that the ending was more realistic, with just the job at hand being completed rather than one college kid saving the world.
The Zoo Crew stories always take a different path than I expect them, too. This was no exception! Fun, fresh, well thought out and with characters you just have to enjoy!
Read the Zoo Crew series for well crafted characters and plots and an education on real social issues ...All set against magnificent Montana!
These books will delight you if you like friendships that are more like family, if you enjoy following a group of main characters through a series of stories based on real world legal situations you may never have heard about, and if you like it when the good guys win. Nothing here will scare you in the middle of the night; everything here will keep you reading because you care about the everyday people who are caught in disaster outs circumstances through no fault of their own. Oh, there are true bad guys and real life and death risks; there are knots of facts and possibilities to untangle; and there are choices which change life directions. Every book of Steven's embeds me into a world where I can imagine meeting these characters for breakfast ... or going to them for help in a personal crisis.
Not sure what you're thinking when you read the title of this novel, but I'm sure you'll find that you have missed the actual reason by miles. I know I did. What a great experience in the writing of this book. Not going to give you the correct answer, but you'll remember something from your past that will allow you to relate to the title and be able to name the correlation as well. Looking to hear more from the Zoo Crew in the future. Thanks for another great read.
This book was not quite up to par as all your others I've read. Took me almost 1/3 into the book to know where I was. Hard to follow, stay with it. Doesn't mean I won't read another of your works, just hope it won't be another one like this one was. .
Well that was an explosive story with a difference, talk about small town police work at it's best this story highlighted how some law enforcement tend to go with the easy way out instead of doing due diligence and properly investigating every crime, thank goodness for the Zoo Crew these guys never give up.

What a great story. Thrilling and suspenseful, great characters and a well thought out adventure. I have read the whole series and each one has been better than the last. Hope you enjoy these stories as much as I have, I bet you do! Enjoy!
He can write a thrilling book and still make the climax even more exciting. All of the Zoo Crew books are some of the best thrillers I have read recently. I hope that he will continue the series. I await it's release.
Another great read by this author. At first I didn't think I would like it but then, all of a sudden it grabbed me and I am up past my bedtime finishing it. Good book !!!!
