For sexy, self-confident Ava Miklos, seduction is a game. She lives for the feeling of triumph that accompanies a new conquest, particularly a challenging one.
When her mother discovers that Ava is a lesbian, she threatens to cut her off financially if she doesn’t go to counselling to “correct the problem”. Knowing that without her family’s support she won’t be able to continue attending university, Ava agrees. But instead of relenting to her mother’s homophobic wishes, Ava does what she does best. She turns each therapy session into a game of seduction. Over the course of six weeks, Ava describes the sensual details of her many erotic conquests to her beautiful, elegant therapist, slowly lacing their relationship with a sexual tension that first becomes palpable and then unnerving. Despite her best efforts to remain a master manipulator, Ava finds herself falling in love with the very woman her mother had chosen to destroy her, and for the first time in her life, she faces a very different form of destruction.
I liked it, well... the first half of the book anyways, when the story is just erotica.
Young woman has seduced her mother's best friend and mother threatens to cut her off financially if she doesn't visit a shrink. Young woman then tries to seduce the shrink by telling her tittilating stories about her sexual exploits. We see that this has an effect on the shrink who gasps, takes a lot of deep breaths and crosses her legs a lot. So far so good.
Then the young woman meets this other young woman in a club and gets introduced to kink. The other young woman has an older dominant mistress. Our young woman is intruiged and delves into that world and loves it. The shrink does not like it one bit.
The story gets off the rails when the young woman joins the other young woman and her mistress on a trip to this island where they meet up with a group of other powerful mistresses and their slaves.
f/f, f/f/f explicit
Themes: when porn attempts a plot it all goes down the shitter
I was so excited to read this because the synopsis is so promising and enticing, but right now I am honestly really disappointed. It started so well and with such a strong story and a lot of sensuality and intense chemistry and teasing between the doctor and Ava, but then, somewhat in the middle of the book, it all went to shiii lol it’s as if a completely different person finished writing the book. It all just stopped making sense and didn’t feel real and it just ruined the mood to the point where I was skipping pages and just wanting to get to the end to be over with this. Such a promising book that got sloppy about 50% into the story :/
Forbidden: Seducing the Shrink by Eden Fairbanks: This is a book I picked up to kill some time. Well so much for that idea! I read it twice in a row. I adored the mystery of it. The subtle romance of talking in detail about your sexual exploits with someone you would rather be on top of and tasting. It was serious, erotic, and fun. My anticipation was at a peak and then it hit ice and a slippery slope to nowhere. This is where Eden Fairbanks wanted to lead me. I bought it hook line and sinker. It was when things looked sad for Ava that the twist began. It ends with a Happy Ever After, so if you are hanging about with time on your hands. This is a fun read and very warm.
I really liked this book, it's short and super kinky. I wish they had gotten together a bit quicker, but it added to the angstyness that it took so long.
Forbidden: Seducing the Shrink a novella by Eden Fairbanks. I guess I expected an erotic romp. It was what I got. I did get more than that. It was a story of sexual growth and personal discovery. It was the realization that a character can change completely in the span of an hour and a half, read. I like it. I liked that It was the story of a woman finding what she wanted from life and walking into the disappointment she found HEA.
