4.5 Salacious Stars!

My first Joey Hill read, and I really enjoyed this book, however, I did have to remind myself it was "fiction"...
Sexually EXPLICIT a total OTT BDSM fantasy for those that are into a noncon by multiple men, Savannah unwittingly became a sexual centre piece, by Matt, a man she was very fond of, And he looked on as each of his partners pleasured her, Wow, the sex scene's were SCORCHING! and the buildup was so HOT that by the time it was Matts turn, it felt almost anti-climactic, the writing so smooth and well articulated, I felt an instant connection to the characters, mostly Savannah, I had very mixed emotions on this, but the fantasy of it won out! Another guilty pleasure... I plan to continue the series,
and I would recommend it... 😉

Board Resolution is a gorgeous, beautifully written, bundle of erotic loveliness with Matt heading up the sexilicious knights of the boardroom team.

From my first introduction to Matt and Savannah in Hostile Takeover, I've been keen to discover their story. And, of course, I wondered what happened on the famous board room table? Board Resolution is their story and, as with all the stories in this hardcore BDSM series, you need to go in with an open heart and an open mind.

Savannah Tennyson has wealth and power in a male dominated environment. She’s an “…extremely capable CEO of a Fortune 500 company…” Savannah is strong, likes to be in supreme control, and lives her life by rules, rules that are ultimately stifling her. She fights against her true desires of what she thinks she should want, as opposed to her inner most fantasies. Matt, and the Knights of the board room, show her something new and different; how it feels to give up control and let go in every way.

Matt knew she would respond…
The erotic coupling is dived into almost immediately, and then the reasons why unfold to us throughout the story in a drip feed style. The author reveals tender, touching moments from their history, moments that have bought us to the present, thrilling time in the boardroom. Savannah can stop the pleasure at any time, but why would she want to? Her body is worshiped in the most beautiful, fictional way.

Board Resolution is a sensual feast, a sublime work of erotic art. Joey W. Hill always pushes my comfort limits; I love her for it and crave more of her writing. There’s nothing as magnificent as a man who worships his girl and Joey gives us this, and so much more.

BDSM & LOVE
There’s a deep brand of love and romance weaved into the kinky, sensual eroticism. Joey W. Hill's descriptions are so incredible beautiful and create such special pictures and emotions, layering the text with grace and sensuality. The entire series has captivated my heart and imagination. This author makes me fall in love with her writing more and more each time I read a story from her portfolio of books.

Reading order
There's been lots of discussion about the reading order of this series between various friends, and we seem to agree that starting with book 5, Hostile Takeover, is the best way to step into the Knights of the Board Room world. It worked perfectly for me. I came to this story with an understanding and an affinity with the characters. If I hadn't started with Hostile Takeover, I believe that this story, BOARD RESOLUTION, would not have given me the feels that it did ALL the way through.

If you love kinky pleasure laced with fierce love, in your reading material, I'd highly recommend this series.

4.5 Never Be Afraid To Face Your Destiny Stars

 photo BoardResolution_zpsb6232a0f.jpg

The Knights of the Boardroom.........Matt, John, Lucas, Peter and Ben. I get such wicked and illicit thoughts about these 5 men. There is just something so addicting about them. Before starting this book, I read Book 5, Hostile Takeover first. It was about Ben and it began my love affair with The Knights of the Board Room. All these men play such a vital role in each other's lives that I was able to have a glance at each of them in Ben's book. I then proceeded to read Willing Sacrifice (Book 6) about Max, the Knight's Head of Transportation, and got to know even more about all the men but Matt intrigued me especially deep. From that moment I knew I had to know more about Matt and the rest of the Knights.

This story takes place in one night. One intense and passionate night. One that includes Matt Kensington, CEO of Kensington & Assoc, Savannah Tennyson, CEO of Tennyson Industries and the rest of the Knights of the Board Room. Matt and all the other men are sexual dominants. They are exquisite in their control and dominance over the women they love. When they love, they love hard and fast. They are steadfast and determined, they are loving and sensual, they are tender and rough. The only pain they give is with the upmost of pleasure.

The story occurs during one evening. As the night progresses, Savannah's recalls the memories of things Matt has done for her. We are able to see the relationship that Matt and Savannah have had over the years. Savannah has always known that Matt has been there for her in good and bad times. She was raised without a mother to a father who was more business than loving. Savannah grew to take over her father's company but was always alone. She couldn't really see Matt's love clearly. She was too afraid to open her heart, it was easier to be alone. So one Friday night, Matt decides it is time for Savannah to open her eyes and see what is before her. Matt loves Savannah and knows that she loves him too. He goes to extreme measures but it is who he is and he would never harm the woman he loves. He knows she craves submission, he just has to break down her walls. He knows she will not fall easily so he gets support from his team to "help him" explain and show Savannah that she is in fact his.

I will tell you that what occurs in this one night is beyond sexy. It is dominance, it is submission, but what it really shows is the passion, desire, steadfast determination of a man who loves a women down to his very soul. My only complaint- This book was too short for me. I loved it really, I just wanted to read more about this great love. A love that I could feel so strongly that I couldn't stop reading.

Joey W Hill writes the most sensually erotic love stories. They are first and foremost LOVE. All her heroines are strong successful women. There is nothing weak about them. They have internal struggles but with love come freedom from those struggles. These men, these Masters, are all dominant gentlemen. The words that come out of these men are tender, sexual, and all consuming.

"This is the way it is for a man in love. You're in control of my destiny now. You're a goddess to me, but you're also terrifyingly mortal. I couldn't stand losing you."

"Rule One, the first and last rule you'll ever need, Savannah, to get through anything, Are you paying attention? ........
I love you."

I will tell you if you read this series, I would highly suggest that you start with Book 5, Book 6, and then go back to Book 1, 2, 3 & 4. BR with Jxxx ♥ and Terilyn ♥ and we all agreed that the book order I just gave works best for this series. I promise you won't go wrong!!

Board Resolution (Knights of the Board Room, #1) Board Resolution by Joey W. Hill

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Well where should I start ….. I finished reading Board Resolution and the wonder that someone could write such a combination of a nebulous teenage wet dream and the fantasies of every inadequate woman hater was overwhelming.

The premise that a woman who was as powerful and masterful in a male dominated world of high finance could be reduced to some trembling and sexually desperate slave was such a stretch for my human mind to begin with that I could hardly believe that the author would push me even farther into fantasy land with the thought that a bit of date rape combined with a most creative gang-bang which would be “just what she needed” just pushed me over the edge of any possibility to see this as anything more than literary porn written to appeal to men with inadequate equipment and women with severe mental problems.

I should pause for a moment to make sure you understand that I am not a fan of erotica (much less BDSM). The reason has nothing to do with the sex but much to do with the fact that almost all of it (with a few notable exceptions) is poorly written, has little if anything resembling a plot outside of writing about sex in various incarnations and generally reduces the characters to little more than what can be done in the erogenous areas between ones legs. The writings of Larissa Ione are more to my speed in this area since she weaves her erotic scenes into an overall plot that while including sex in various forms have an end game that includes more than an orgasm.

Back to the story at hand, our dual personality heroine Savannah, who apparently can run a billion dollar corporation but has the need to be date raped and treated like a piece of meat by Matthew Lord Kensington (ya gotta love that name) and brought to the pinnacle of self awareness by a gang-bang of sorts with his buddies. I know what you are thinking, “What a fantastic love story” < sarcasm/off> but somewhere along the way anything resembling reality checked out and it might as well have been Star Trek porn (and the actions of this version of “Scotty the engineer” are about as impossible as getting that extra bit of warp drive).

The HEA of this makes my head spin since I would have tasered his ass on about page 11 and end of story or if I let things play out in this nightmarish scenario, the next step should have been Savannah getting a sexy 40 caliber Glock and polishing these boys off this earth. Apparently, my naivety in the world of BDSM did not realize the proper reaction is to be grateful to the rapists and fall madly in love with one of them. Such is this story and since I don’t have a number smaller than the national debt to measure the incredulity of this story all I can say is that it does have a “train wreck” appeal but any lasting compulsion to read it again would have me wondering if my secret desire is to become a serial rapist.

Wow.. this was one extremely sexy, sensual, erotic story....

The entire book takes place in one room over the course of one night.. and not a single second of it was wasted. Matt, Peter, Ben,Jon and Lucas all have a point to make to Savannah.. that she needs to come out of her shell. Matt is deeply in love with her and she with him, though she would never admit it..

Matt and the guys own the business across the street from Savannah and her business.. they have lots of dealings with each other on a regular basis and its always just the six of them in every negotiation. Although Savannah is cold and aloof..this group of guys has alwasy been more like a family to her. She's bottled up and confined --cold and beautiful. Matt wants her heart and his plan is to give her a night of insane pleasure. Each man specializes in one particular pleasure..they will have Savannah tied up and at their mercy over and over and over and over again throughout the night until they break her and she opens herself up. They will each give her extream pleasure but take none for themselves....because she will heart and soul belong to Matt before the night is over and he is the only one that will have her completely... if she will let him.

As highly erotic as this book was..there was an actual story here and I enjoyed every page of it. The writing was sensual and beautiful. Ms Hill was able to bring Savannah to life through the pages and I felt how much each of the men truly cared for her. Their bond together was so strong and they did all this for Matt knowing that this night of pleasure would bring Savannah out of her shell and in to Matt's arms.. forever.

I think this is a buyer/reader beware book. Personally, this is straight up my alley. I read a couple of reviews from women who are horrified and feel this is a book of rape and degradation (sic?). Well it certain was a book filled with non consensual acts. Oh boy were they hot and steaming. All I could think about was if there really were that many males focused on me for this scene, I'd probably die from overload. I'm not sure where Ms. Hill comes up with these scenes. She paints the picture so realistic, I can happily live through it vicariously. And my husband no longer wonders what will happen to him if he sees me reading one of Ms. Hill's books.

Now I don't want people to think her books are just sex. She writes good story lines with characters who are three dimensional. In addition, there is always a realistic conflict which is explained and understanding then ensues. I love Ms. Hill's books and one day, I'd love to be able to write like her. Until then, I'm just happily enjoy the worlds she creates.

“Say it again,” she said softly. “Say it so my heart will hear it.” He had stilled within her to give her time to adjust, and he pressed his cheek to hers, his breath in her ear. “You’re mine, Savannah. Now and always.”

This is my first read from Joey Hill and my first foray into more hardcore erotica/BDSM. I went in with my eyes and mind wide open, and I'm glad I did because I would have done the genre a great disservice it had been otherwise.

That said, I did have a couple of jawdropping moments. LoL! And let me tell you, this book gave a whole new meaning to board resolution. As hot or as erotic the sex in this book was, it wasn't what made the book for me. It was actually the character of Savannah.

Savannah Tennyson was groomed at a very early age to takeover the family business. His father had these ridiculous rules that he drummed into Samantha, basically stripping her of her own identity in order to become the kind of daughter her father wants her to be. She was so successful at it that people call her Savannah Cyborg because she's literally untouchable and doesn't show much emotion. In order words, this girl has no life whatsoever.

Poor girl. I loved her tough exterior because you can clearly see that underneath that hardass CEO facade was a vulnerable woman who craved a connection with someone.

“Tell me the dream. Your fantasy.”
“To be held,” she whispered. “…Someone…comes to me, to my bed, and holds me.”

Of course, we know that she wasn't just talking about anyone. She wants Matthew Lord Kensington. I know. His sounds like a pompous ass but he's actually very sweet and very patient with Savannah. Unlike her father, Matthew sees the real Savannah and most importantly, he wants the real Savannah. He sees beyond the tough facade and recognized Savannah's loneliness.

The trick was getting Savannah to admit Matt was all she needs. Granted, his methods were a bit, ahem, unconventional, I did understand why. Savannah needs Matt, not just in business but on a personal level but being who she is, she would never admit that to herself much less Matt. So I did understand why Matt felt the need to push Savannah into admitting her need for him.

“That’s the thing. You’re teasing my men, but you’re challenging me. From the first moment we met, you’ve known you were mine. Every negotiation has been a dare, a taunt. You want me to prove I’ve got what it takes to make you submit, claim what’s been mine all along.”

I must admit, this was the part of the book that I had the most difficulty with especially during the first part of their, um, negotiations. But as I said, Ms. Hill did a great job of exposing the characters' motivations that you'll understand why it happened.

Personal thoughts...

There was an important element that I felt I need to address about some of the "scenes" of this book. I think some of the reviews have mentioned the and the question whether it consensual or not?

I actually had to reread that scene twice and my opinion is that it was consensual. This is from Savannah...

“Fine, then. You’re right, Matthew. We’re two adults. We have a sexual attraction. It’s obvious. Let’s relieve it. We’ll have sex, get it out of the way. I’m sure you’ve indulged the itch as often as I have on a boring Friday night.”

That said, I believe Savannah had a different idea than Matt as to the "how" part. Yes, there was a moment there when Savannah fought Matt but I felt it was part of their play, more like in keeping with Savannah's personality. Matt actually recognized this and called Savannah on it.

There was also a moment where Savannah said stop it. After rereading that scene, it was clear that Savannah was reacting to Matt's way of getting her to admit her feelings and not to the act itself because they haven't gotten to that far yet. And Matt did give her the chance to walk away. She stuck it out and that was it.

I must admit, this book and this whole series is not for everybody considering the topic but the prose, the characterization is superb.

Personally though...

3.5 Stars

HOLY SHIT BATMAN! THAT WAS HOT!

After reading WAAAYYY too many emotional reads lately, I just wanted something I could read, get involved in, not have my emotions wreak havoc on me but not really have to care about it at the same time. Board Resolution was exactly that.

Savannah Tennyson has the nickname of Cyborg Savannah as she is closed off to everything. Her Father has made her that way. After his death she moved right into the top spot of his company. It's lonely at the top, but she will never tell anyone that.

Matthew Kensington wants Savannah. He has since he met her 2 years ago. However, he can't get to her, she is too closed off.

So one Friday night he calls her to a meeting at his office. They constantly work together Savannah always choosing to come alone to meet Matt and his 4 co-workers.

This meeting is like nothing she's ever been to before.

What follows is a WHOLE lot of smushing! for those who don't watch Jersey Shore, just another word for sex BUT not really sex! Only one actual sex scene in the book. - Sexual intercourse as in Penis goes into a Vagina that is. There is plenty of non penetration SMOKING scenes!

Matt is in love with Savannah, he knows he must use his Dominant behavior to break her into his Submissive.
He does this by bringing his Colleagues, Lucas, Jon, Ben and Peter into the mission.

So basically after a bit of a story and background, Savannah is suspended above the boardroom table and at the mercy at all of them. She can stop any of it at any time but Matt knows she won't due to her Never back down attitude.
They all care for her deeply, so no one will hurt her.
So it's fair game to all of them.

Only one rule

"You can play with her in as many and varied ways as you wish that will give her pleasure, but you can't fuck her pussy. Understood? And if you touch her, you have to make her come" - Matt

Matt is in charge of the whole thing but these 5 dominants worship Savannah into Submission.

Each of them have their own expertise. Boobs, Anal, Cunnilingus, and a very very very awesome experiment machine thing that plays with all of a girls fav part at the same time! I WANT ONE!

The only thing that shit me about this book is how they had Savannah suspended. I'm not part of the BDSM world but I do like to read about it. I just could not picture how it looked and it annoyed me. The Author does an amazing job of describing the contraception, but I just can't visualize it.

Anyway, this was free on Amazon so I picked it up. I'm still not too sure if I want to venture on with the series as I have a feeling it gets a lot darker and rougher. We'll see..
Happy reading!

2nd read: April 2015
Buddy read with Maru
*sigh* I love it.

1st read: January 2013
Favorite quote:
She was on the step above him, so their positions put them at eye level. His expression had hardened with an emotion she couldn’t read as he studied her face. In a surprising move, he suddenly slid an arm around her back and legs, swung her up in his arms and turned, carrying her down the steps.
“Matt,” she hissed. “What are you doing?”
At the bottom, he let her feet touch the floor, but he held her elbow another moment. “That was to remind you that someday, you might need someone else to carry the load for a while. And you can trust me to get you where you need to go, no matter how steep the hill is. Up or down.” He left her there, amazed, speechless. Oddly happy and hurting at once.

I liked how the story was structured: the present interlaced with all the important moments in the development of their love. I swear, if other authors did the same with their novellas I would give them all maximum stars!

The only thing that was a little... other... was the way all the friends "pitched in"(that sounded better in my head). I loved how Savannah was so strong and sure of herself in every aspect of her life, all beside interpersonal relationships. Matt was so sweet and took care of her wants and needs without her even noticing(that's a very good quality in men btw ;;) )! Now the other knights, wow, I think I would have had testosterone overload!

All in all this was great! I went in search of an easy erotic novella and came upon this story. I loved every minute of it! Ms Hill wrote a great love story and erotic romance in about 120 pages. It was a lovely surprise.

PS: Ben can come and cook for me EVERY time!

4.5 Hearts
5 out of 5 for hotness

Holy hot sauce Batman I think I need to change my undies.

WHAT. A. SCORCHER.

I actually thought I knew a fair bit about this book before I started reading....well the main jist of it anyway.... or the part I was most excited about anyway, A career woman gets her groove on with five guys whilst in a boardroom.

And seriously, those few words were enough for me. I mentally raised my hand and screamed ‘Pick me, pick me....oh please for the love of God, PICK ME.’

But I was actually surprised. It wasn’t a sausage eating contest where the one female contestant needed to devour as much edible man meat at one time. It wasn’t like a porno scene....actually scratch that....it wasn’t like a sleazy porno scene, it was actually quite nice in a XXX, ‘5 men are gunna give it to you’ kind of way.

I don’t want to give anything away – other than the huge amount of sex part – but I LOVED how the emphasis was on Savannah’s enjoyment. It was utterly and completely about her.

The only thing that stopped me from giving a full blown 5 heart rating was that my mind couldn’t get around the sexual contraption the men used on Savannah. And this wasn’t an ‘author can’t describe it properly’ issue, it was a ‘reader has ADD and can’t concentrate enough to figure out the configuration of the contraption’ issue.

The best part??? The best part by far was the ending. I adored Matt. He was a damn sweet character in such a scorching hot read. I can’t get over it. It was quite simply sigh worthy.

4 stars.
I really liked this book.
It was my first Joey Hill and immediately had me excited to moved onto her other books.
I love the writing and the layers she attempts to add to her erotic material.

This book was so close to fabulous...
I felt like I was reading an impressionist painting.
The brushstrokes were beautiful, masterful even.
The overall picture was striking.
The subjects were wonderful (loved the boys at that table)
But when you look closely, it doesn't quite come together as a complete picture.
The dubious consent niggled constantly.
The reasoning behind the boys participation was unclear.
The objectives didn't quite match up with the means (but I really wanted them to!!).

I wanted this to work! I it could have been a contender for prized placement on my shelf!

Some of it was beautiful.
Some of it was kinda spiritual and deep, which was cool and not typical and I dug that.
Some of it was, well... creative.
But dang it, the whole thing just didn't gel.

Bottom line:
The concept was pretty amazing, the content was at times surprising and beautiful, but the execution wasn't completely successful. My dots didn't all connect and I'm pretty sure it wasn't reader error (always a possibility).

I wouldn't likely go back to re-read this one, but would jump hurdles to read the next one and/or more of Ms. Hill's work.

Board Room Resolution (Knights of the Board Room book 1)

Savannah, CFO of her father`s Fortune 500 Steel manufacturing company has always followed her father`s strict rules. These rules have been hammered into her by Daddy Dearest, and she applies these rules in business as well as her life.

Matthew Kensington of Kensington & Associates is a Dominant male, who, from the day he first meets Savannah, he knows she is the one for him.

Because of her upbringing, associates and co-workers alike have dubbed her The Cyborg due to her cold no nonsense attitude.

Matt knows that to get his woman, he is going to have to work harder than ever to convince her that they belong together.

The story starts off with a late night business meeting between the two. To ensure that his plan works, Matt needs to be on his playing field; The Knights Board Room.

The fireworks implode almost immediately and I don`t mean sexy fireworks.

Savannah is determined to the core to rebuff his advances, and this is where we get a glimpse of why she is the way she is.

Enter stage left. The Intimidation Team.
 photo BeFunky_knightsjpg_zps1fa56c65.jpg
Yep, you guess it; each of the Knights make an appearance .

Throughout the story, Savannah recalls her first encounters with each of the members. Each one so different from the other.

Joey sure knows how to write a fantastic BDSM series.

Few quotes:
She yearns for him to make her surrender.

Why was she so violently aroused by being restrained; Why on earth would she, a master of controlling her life, be so completely seduced by the lack of it.

Love has a million rooms to discover, sweetheart, and i`ll spend the next ten lifetimes and not know everything about you. I`ll only crave more.

Rule One: the first and last rule you`ll ever need Savannah, to get through anything, pay attention. I love you.

I really loved this one; Matt really went above and beyond to show Savannah just how much he wants her.

Joey is definitely a new fav author of mine and I will be devouring her books as fast as I can ;p

OH MY GOD This goes down as one of the best, hottest stories I have ever read. Mercy, I had to stop every few pages to take a cold shower. All I can say is I would kill to have 5 sexy men work together to give me pleasure. The ending was a little cheesy but I didn't care and liked it. I can't wait to read the stories of the other hot knights of the boardroom.

Just did a re-read and still love this story. My fav. of the series.

WOW!!!

Matt and Savannah have been working together for years. There's always been an attraction and underlying sexual tension between them.

Savannah has been raised by a domineering father, who never showed any emotions because he taught Savannah that it was a form of weakness.
She never felt loved by her father. She only lived by his "rules", and he dictated everything in her life to prepare and mold her to inevitably take-over his company.

Matt is a Corporate CEO who really "sees" Savannah. He doesn't see her as the person her father has created, but as a strong, intelligent woman who also craves to be loved and needs to be shown compassion.

 photo dontwanttofeellonelyanymore-1.gif

Matt, you won my heart with your persistence, and patience with Savannah. You saw what she needed, and you gave it to her... along with your heart.

 photo iwillwaitforyou.gif

.. and Savannah you fought him 'tooth & nail' every step of the way, because everything you've ever been taught says that if you ever show emotion, it is considered a weakness. Until, Matt finally breaks down your walls and you are really able to hear what he had to say to you.

*** Just a side note: This book definately made my "How to lose your virginity" column :)

5 Lord Kensington Stars

The only reason I didn't like this book because I want MORE Matt and Savannah. But I really liked it anyway. Hostile Takeover is the first Joey W. Hill I read then moved on to book 6 with Janet and Max's story. Those two five star reads for me gave me so much insight into Matt and Savannah, especially Matt. To the kind of strong, protective, kind, and feral man he is with his wife and those he loves.

Many glimpses of him through the eyes of Ms. Hill's other characters had me enamored. The point of my telling you this is because I don't think Matt's book should be read first in the series. It's short, their relationship is lightening quick and the finer details are scarce. Without reading books 5 and 6 first my impression of Board Resolution would have been undoubtedly different.

I want more Matt and Savannah. But the thing Joey W. Hill does best, in my humble opinion, is make her reader yearn for the type of love the K&A leaders give. God the things Matt says to her, making her forget all of her worries, her fears. The purity of a D/s relationship stripped down to the fundamentals of human nature. Joey W. Hill gifts each and every time with a powerful, gripping love story even when it's a short one. I could read about the K&A men for days and never get bored. It's an erotica series you won't forget.

Let me preface with saying....I love Joey Hill.

However, this one just didn't work for me. I feel like a missed a huge portion of the book, mainly the beginning and build-up of the characters. Was there a book or series I should have read before this one? Because I gotta tell you, the flashbacks were nice to learn more about their "relationship" & how their connection came about, but I had a huge problem with her being pleasure by everyone, BUT he main character, Matt!!!

Seriously, 75% of the book is her being pleasured by his friends and business partners, WHAT? That's right, all the board members share their women & seriously, this one sex scene was like almost the entire book. Crazy! Matt doesn't even get it in until like 90%!!

Now don't get me wrong, I like a good ménage scene as much as the next girl, but.....really? I read this series out of order and started with book 5, (loved it by the way), so I thought I'd start from the beginning because I needed myself a Joey fix, but I just wasn't feeling the chemistry with Matt & Savannah....seriously you know I'm bummed when I whip out a million ellipses........anyways.....

At least this was a quick read & Hill is well known for her off the charts sex scenes as well as her extremely well written novels, so I can't say it was all bad!!! Just mostly bad....for me....

Well, this was a verrrry steamy story. Savannah has been raised by her widowed father almost without emotion to take over his company. Matt has been watching her for years, knows she is his, realises she is submissive but knows that she is closed up behind a steel wall. He decides a boardroom intervention of an erotic nature is the only way to break through her defences and bring her to him.

He calls a Friday evening meeting and what follows is of fairly dubious consent when he restrains her and invites in the rest of the Knights of the Boardroom to pleasure her. Very erotic

Knights of the Boardroom? Yes please, Sir!

It is a damn shame Matt and Savannah didn't get a full-length novel. A damn shame.

February, 2014

The first time I read this book last year, I didn't like it very much. I don't know why, it just didn't sit well with me. Now, since I've decided to finally continue with this series, I wanted to meet the knights again, and give this particular knight another chance.

After reading Board Resolution the second time, all I can say is that my previous thoughts about it were only due to bad timing, because this time I really, really liked it.
“You want me with a hunger so bad you’ll tear my flesh off my bones to crawl inside me. I know it, have known it for months, and so have you.”

I believe what bothered me on my first read was that I felt that everything Matt did to Savannah was a bit too much to take all at once. Yes, I know she never put a definite stop to it, but still... It kind of made me uncomfortable.

This time, it was like I was reading a completely different book with completely different characters. Everything that happened, everything Matt did seemed necessary and really the only way to break that armor Savannah had been carrying around her heart almost her entire existence. I admit, I thought it was hot and kind of romantic. Those little glimpses of their past were extremely romantic and sweet.
“That was to remind you that someday, you might need someone else to carry the load for a while. And you can trust me to get you where you need to go, no matter how steep the hill is. Up or down.”

You see what I'm talking about? Beautiful. Savannah is one lucky lady. And she deserves it, deserves someone like him.

God, I must have been a blind idiot the first time I read it.

Now I can't wait to meet the other knights more personally. Lucas, Jon, Peter, Big Ben, I'm looking at you.

***5 "Rules Were Made For Breaking" Stars!***

Savannah Tennyson is a control freak. A businesswoman so good at her cutthroat negotiation skills that she's earned the nickname "Savannah Cyborg," she lives by the set of rules instilled in her by her successful father and repeats them like mantras lest she take her hands off the wheel for even one second. Like Cleopatra, she believes she must be queen first and woman second, someone who holds the reins rather than be trampled underfoot by conquering men.

Matthew Lord Kensington knows what control looks like; he exercises it every day in his board room. He lives and breathes dominance and submission dynamics, and though he knows his love for Savannah is more than just a power play, he's not sure she realizes it until the night he decides enough is enough.

From the first moment we met, you've known you were mine... You want me to prove I've got what it takes to make you submit, claim what's been mine all along."

Joey W. Hill writes the psychological depths of D/s better than anyone I've ever read, and Hostile Takeover is unrelenting in its exploration of hidden desires and mastery of the mind. I love her books because of the loving attention she pays to the little corners of the psyche, the parts that can eat you alive when you're engaged in an emotional or physical struggle with another human being, the parts that punish you in your loneliest moments. She takes your most sensitive nerve and strokes it, and it is always exactly what you need.

*Confession: I read Board Resolution first, and though it functioned well as a stand-alone, I can't wait to read the KOTBR series in order.

This review was sponsored by Behind the Chintz Curtain. You can read it below but the formatting over there is much nicer. :)

What do you call a tale where a woman shows up for a business meeting only to be assaulted, manhandled, stripped naked, rendered immobile by being bound to a specially designed piece of furniture, blindfolded, gagged and forced to submit to her captor and, possibly, his stalwart management team?

Aw, you guessed it – it’s a love story.

Geoffrey Tennyson wasn’t one of those men who felt sorry for himself because he had a daughter and not a son. He just played the hand life dealt – and spent every moment from the day she was born until the day he died instilling in her his own version of the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition. There simply wouldn’t be a situation that would come up in any business negotiation that Savannah wouldn’t be prepared for.

But then Matthew Kensington enters the equation.

He’s determined to peel back the layers of business acumen and ice cold ruthlessness to find the woman underneath. To anyone else, it would probably seem like an impossible task. But with the right amount of strategic planning, a carefully crafted and briefed team of associates, and the element of surprise, he’s confident that he can pull it off.

Extreme situations call for extreme measures. And what Matt puts Savannah through is definitely intense. But she actually never says ‘no’ to him (or his colleagues), even though he gives her not one but two methods of calling for help if things get to be too much. And he stays right there with her through every single moment.

Nothing tender or sweet about this one but it’s definitely something of an emotional thrill ride.

I'm not sure what to think of this book. The first 10% was awesome. Super dominant business man and his main competitor is the heroine. He sets up a meeting and then makes it known he wants her. Their initial verbal exchange is pretty cool.

But then...it just got too crazy for me. Heroine is a 35 year old virgin and ends up hanging in some type of sexual harness that comes out of the board room's ceiling. And then hero invites his 4 team members in and they get a 1% extra share of his company for every orgasm they give her.

It was so extreme. Even for trying to take it as a fantasy, it was just too much. I enjoy this author's writing, but I can't do this series.

Alright, I'm going to swear here, so if you don't want to read it, my advice is to move on.........................................

Well f**k me five ways till Sunday, that SURE was interesting! I must admit, not my usual cup of tea BUT I'm going to continue reading the rest of this series, just to see if I develop a favorite Knight of the Boardroom :) I may NEVER be able to look at a boardroom the same way again....

Welllll..........spoilers ahead and a 1.5 rating

This was my very first read by this author and i honestly found the entire thing weird. Matt, in trying to break down Savannah's walls and get her to surrender and admit that there's something between them, sets up a meeting in the boardroom where each of his partners take turns with Savannah. They are not allowed to have actual sex with her but pretty much anything else goes. I found the reasoning behind this scenario to be the most convoluted piece of craziness I've ever read, that in addition to the somewhat formal speech and reminiscing during what was supposed to be some very hot scenes just had me uncomfortable. I couldn't connect with anyone here and Matt doing this all because he loves Savannah so much just capped this pot of madness. I'm reading the next book to see if this author's writing style and choices are really not for me but I'm not excited at the prospect at all. Fingers crossed!

Horrible....I thought the story line was going to be good but I found it unbelievable. The BDSM was kind of hot at first but then got to be too much totally scary and creepy. The main guy Matt wants Savannah who is a tough girl, and to get her attention he gets 4 other men to sexually abuse her. Once they are done having their turn with her she gets a choice of leaving and forgetting anything ever happened or she gets to pick 1 of the 5 men that she wants to give her virginity to. (which by the way they all love her & are doing this to help her) She is then hurt because she is given the choice to choose a man and that Matt is not just forcing himself on her. When she is finally left alone with Matt she realizes how much Matt loves her and that she has always loved him, and they live happily ever after. This story is so ridiculous and gross.

Not bad

Most of the sexy scenes were with Matt's four men and when Matt and Savannah finally did have sex it was towards the end of the book and happened so quickly. Not that the scenes with the other guys weren't hot, but there wasn't to much interaction between Matt ad Savannah.
