A romantic suspense anthology like no other! Four stories, one event and four dangerous missions on the same night.
It’s Inauguration Night. Glamorous balls throughout the nation’s capital celebrate a landmark event. The town and nation are in the mood to celebrate. But not everyone is so pleased. A home-grown sect known as the Red Mantle plan to make it an event to remember for their own reasons. As their assault succeeds it will be up to those attending the ball to step up and face the fanatics, or die trying.
UNMASKED: An Edgars Family Novella-by Suzanne Ferrell Abigail Whitson and Luke Edgars are working an undercover operation during the inaugural ball in an attempt to discover who has stolen land to air missiles before they can be sold to a broker—their target for the night. When the playboy arms dealer arrives at the ball, his bodyguard turns out to be someone from Luke’s past. That isn’t the only surprise of the night. When the ball is invaded by terrorists, Abby and Luke find themselves trying to extract the arms dealer from the fray to protect their mission, while they also risk their lives to protect innocents from the carnage.
DEATH UNDER GLASS, A Faithful Defenders Novella by Jeanne Adams Edward Millner and his girlfriend Retta Geminous, are celebrating a glittering inaugural. When Red Mantle terrorists take the ballroom, both bullets and glass start flying. Edward and Retta help the agents still standing retake the ballroom, but casualties are high. Can Edward face his demons and use his former Special Forces medical skills to save the night? Can Retta and Edward overcome their troubled hearts in the face of certain death?
DANGER’S EDGE, An Arachnid Agency Novella by Nancy Northcott When terrorists disrupt the inaugural ball, new Arachnid Agency operative Kelsey Mitchell tables her planned undercover operation and works to bring help into the hotel. Her only ally is Greg Reed, an FBI agent on medical leave after being shot during a robbery. Kelsey dreads making a novice mistake, and Greg is afraid he’s lost his edge. Attraction flares between them though Kelsey knows the Feds disapprove of people who work for her freewheeling agency. Together, she and Greg must fight their demons and the terrorists to gather intel for the FBI and create a safe landing zone for a rescue force. Can they succeed against overwhelming odds, or will the battle cost one or both their lives—or their hearts?
LETHAL TARGET: An Armed & Deadly Novella by J.D. Tyler FBI Special Agent Dalton McCoy is playing a deadly game, working undercover for Methan, leader of the extremist terrorist group, the Red Mantle. He’ll stop at nothing to keep Methan and his men from achieving their goal of bringing down key members of the government. When Dalton’s plans come to an unexpected head at the glittering inaugural ball, he doesn’t count on tenacious reporter Jolie Montfort placing herself in Methan’s line of fire as well. Now the agent must take out the terrorist leader and get them both to safety before it’s too late…

Excellent showcase of how 4 different authors can seamlessly write a common story thread. The plot revolves around a group of men who call themselves The Red Mantle whose hated of women in any form of power had been pushed to the brink when a woman is elected President and many other women hold seats of power. Their thinking is this abomination must be stopped and they plan to do this on inauguration night at a hotel hosting a huge inauguration party in DC.
Normally for books like this I would write a review on each author's part in the book but I'm going to do it a little different this time. All 4 stories take place at the same time. The difference being the main couple and where they were when the Red Mantle started shooting and took over the hotel. In the first story Luke Edgars and Ebigal where working the inaugural ball on an uncover op to take down an arms dealer. They end up leading a group of people out of the hotel but not before running into many intense situations. The second story was about billionaire Edward Millner and his girlfriend who get trapped inside one of the ballrooms and manage to take down the terrorists locked in with them and do triage on the living before being rescued. The third story was about Greg Reed , an FBI agent on medical leave who happened to be their with his cousin and ends up teaming with an uncover Arachnid operative named Kelsey who was pretty kickass. They manage to make it to the roof to allow SWAT to come in. The fourth story was about FBI agent Dalton McCoy who had been uncover within Red Mantle to try and prevent this situation from happening. He didn't succeed in that but his teaming up with reporter Jolie Monfort does prevent a massive bomb from exploding in front of the hotel.
Even though the main plot was the same through out each story each couple being in a different location what they saw and experienced was different so its was like getting a new story each time but you knew what was coming at certain points. I've only read two of these author before but all 4 stories were each great and full of suspense and action. Two of the couples were already in a relationship and the other two meeting for the first time during the harrowing ordeal.
I'd like to applaud each of the author for their attention to detail in the other authors story and making it seem like just one author wrote it and not 4 different ones. This was an on the edge of your seat suspense from beginning to end and I loved it.
The United States has sworn in its first woman President and inauguration parties are in full swing across Washington, DC but one party is about to come to an abrupt halt. The Red Mantle, a homegrown terrorist group that believes women have no place in government, has infiltrated the hotel where the party is being held with a plan to kill as many high-ranking, female government officials as they can, including the new President, who they have good reason to believe will be making an unscheduled stop at the party. Will anyone be able to stop these well-organized killers before they reach their target?
Capitol Danger is a unique anthology in that each of the four stories, written by Suzanne Ferrell, Jeanne Adams, Nancy Northcott and J.D. Tyler, occurs during the attack on the inaugural party yet is told from the perspective of that author's characters. Undercover FBI agents, a television reporter, a former Special Forces medic battling PTSD, a rookie agent from one of those no-name black ops agencies and many everyday people with no special training must all put their fears aside and work together when chaos erupts. Events move seamlessly from one story to the next as friendships are forged, relationships are tested, the suspense builds, and lives are put on the line as the characters race against the clock to identify and stop the terrorists before more lives are lost.
There's plenty of action in these well-written, tightly-woven novellas that tell a suspenseful, edge-of-the-seat story that could easily have been ripped from real-life headlines. The four authors skillfully navigate the tunnels, stairways, hallways and ballrooms of the fictional Fierenze Hotel without missing a beat. The collaboration among the authors and attention to detail is evident throughout with the suspense skillfully built from beginning to end. Romance is light but leaves readers with the possibility of happy endings for several of the couples; couples I was delighted to discover that we'll be seeing more of in future books and novellas from all four authors.
In the case of Luke and Abigail from the first novella in the anthology, their full story has already been published and can be read in Suzanne Ferrell's Vanished (27 Feb. 2014).
The Concept of this book is so good, eight characters, four love stories, one event .. and how will they get out of it.. each writer was completing the one before her which was really nice, it made it like a big whole story, so here is my review of the stories:
UNMASKED:So in this story we follow Luke and Abigail and the rest of Edgars family while they battle a terrorist attack while trying to solve a mystery of money embazzelment at the same time ..it was alright, I never liked luke to begin with so the story didn't grab me that much 3/5
DEATH UNDER GLASS:The story is about Edward and his girlfriend Retta who happened to get stuck in the same party as the first story and how they deal with it .. it was sweet and nice 3/5
DANGER’S EDGE: This part of the story takes place in another place but under the same attack, we will follow Greg and Kelsey, they both don't know each other until the attack happens and they are forces to unite to get out of the place in one piece and send for help to save the others, I think this one was the most boring one of them I didn't quite enjoy it 2/5
LETHAL TARGET:This is about Agent Delton and Reporter Jolie, I like the concept of this story best, the relationship is so rushed since it's a short story but that got me interested in the whole Samson case 3.5/5

REVIEW:
NOTE: Because all four storylines in the anthology CAPITOL DANGER are interconnected revolving around the same set of circumstances and premise, I will review the anthology as a whole, not by individual storylines or authors.
CAPITOL DANGER is an adult, contemporary, romantic suspense anthology that follows the events on the Inauguration Night of the first woman president of the United States of America. The sect known as Red Mantle will stop at nothing to destroy and take down everyone connected to the new female President, and anyone who stands in their way is collateral damage. The storylines cover a timeline of approximately 1-2 hours.
The four separate but integrated storylines, each with a different leading couple, run parallel to one another. Most of the heroes and heroines (as well as a number of operatives) are current or former members of the military CIA, FBI, Special Ops or Dark Ops organizations hired to work undercover to serve and protect. All, if not most, of the leading characters are unaware of the events unfolding in the other storylines; each will have to contend with the massacre that is about to take place within their own Inauguration Ball. Two of the novellas focus on escaping the fallout of the death and destruction; two follow the attempts to survive under mounting murderous rage and a growing number of dead and dying. The anthology contains scenes of graphic language and violence; there are no sexual scenarios.
Three of the novellas-Unmasked by Suzanne Ferrell, Death Under Glass by Jeanne Adams, and Lethal Target by JD Tyler-are installments in existing series; Danger’s Edge by Nancy Northcott is the first in her new Arachnid Agency series. CAPITOL DANGER, as a whole, can be read as a stand alone; the reader will not need prior information from the existing series to understand the premise but saying that there is some history between several of our leading couples who met in previous storylines.
CAPITOL DANGER is a dramatic and intense, engaging and riveting anthology of suspense, mystery, action and drama. There is romance, love, a couple of happily ever afters, and a look to the future for a couple thrown together by a storage closet and fate. All four storylines focus on the murderous and vengeful actions of a misogynistic, religious zealot whose followers are willing to die for the cause. I see the potential for the continuation of some of the storylines-perhaps there is a CAPITOL DANGER II in the development.
CAPITOL DANGER seamlessly blends four different styles of writing into an exciting storyline of intrigue and suspense.
Okay... so I've finished part of it, but I did complete a whole story within the anthology so I'm calling it complete... for now. I promise to go back and finish the rest, because it really is a good read. ;)
As I mentioned in a previous review… I’ve read quite a few anthologies this year and while I love the experience, I was kind of getting bogged down. So… that’s why I only read the prologue (which is quite the set-up and clues readers in to exactly how fanatical this sect is…) and one full story. I promise to go back and read the rest of them because the premise is really great and the characters are intriguing, plus, I’m always looking for more books to add to my TBR pile (crazy, I know.)
Below is my full review of Danger’s Edge. Why did I pick this one out of all the others? Because I’m a fan of Nancy Northcott’s writing and her ‘never afraid to cross the line to get things done’ characters… both male and female.
Review of Danger's Edge: My go-to when it comes to romance is PNR. That doesn’t mean that I don’t read contemporary romance, I just have a preference. When it comes from an author I already love, there’s no question. Having said that, it’s no surprise that Danger’s Edge did not disappoint. Kelsey was on assignment for a totally different undercover op and Greg was on medical leave from the FBI. Who better to take on a bunch of suicidal maniacs? Even though they didn’t start out exactly trusting each other, it didn’t take them long to get over that obstacle and as a bonus, discover an attraction that was totally unexpected and poorly timed. I can’t wait to see how this all pans out. This novella is listed as part of a series so I’m really hoping that there’s more to come. ;)
I received Capitol Danger in exchange for a fair and honest review.
What a timely, exciting and very scary premise for a book - terror at one of the inaugural balls for a new, and viewed by some as controversial, president. This book gives the reader the story of the events prior, during and right after this gala, told through the eyes of different characters written by different authors! Encompassing all our fears regarding terrorism and change outside our comfort level, this riveting read is a must-read for those who love political thrillers and contemporary romance. It explores the fear of change and the unknown from both a rational perspective and from an extreme, irrational perspective. And we are reminded once again that the threat of terrorism can come from within the borders of the United States as well.
The book blurb describes the 4 scenarios for you, so there is no need to repeat the storyline for the sections written by Suzanne Ferrell, Nancy Northcott, Jeanne Adams and J.D. Tyler. What the blurb doesn’t covey to you, the reader, is just how engrossing and well-written this book is. Each author may have her own characters and writing style, but the four stories placed together under one cover meshed so well it created one amazing romantic thriller!
As an aside to fans of Suzanne Ferrell’s Edgars Family series fans, not only do Luke and Abby make an appearance, but my beloved Frank Costello has a role which set up his story in Ms. Ferrell’s next series book, “Exposed.” And although I was not familiar with the other three authors, I look forward to placing their books on my “to be read” list!
Capitol Danger is a collaborative story in four parts by authors Suzanne Ferrell, Jeanne Adams, Nancy Northcott and J.D. Tyler. It’s the night of the Inaugural Balls in Washington, DC and the setting is at one of the swankiest hotels in town.
Each story transitions seamlessly into the next and doesn't disappoint. Each author maintains her own voice while transitioning into the next story without any gaps. Lots of sexy and edgy agents, mage's and a few surprise you won't see coming!
Action packed, this hot romantic suspense is a must read and gets better with each story. You won't want to miss out on this anthology. Discover four awesome authors and a story that will thrill you until the very last page!
I love how these incredible authors were able to blend their characters into one huge night of fun! I haven't read a story like this and look forward to their next adventure. Ladies, please don't wait too long :)
This was a completely different style of writing, it us four different authors, four different love stories but the suspense is all center around the same incident. All four stories were great! I think the concept is awesome, I really enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it. If you are a fan of Suzanne Ferrell you will not be disappointed and it was great to read about Luke and Abigail again and see their romance take the next step. As for the other authors I have not read anything else by them but I will now!
I really enjoyed this book, very unique in 4 different authors telling the same story from diffierent aspects of the suspense story. Great concept and it has intrugued me to read more from these authors some I have never read before.
My favorite story was Jeanne Adams, her hero Edward Millner was just awesome. Sigh! I highly recommend this fast moving romantic suspense.
4 novellas by 4 authors that tell 1 complete story.
Super action story about a terrorist attack on an Inaugural ball as a woman is elected President. The first story is part of the Edgars Family romantic suspense series. The last story will be continued in the Armed and Deadly series. In the meantime read One Last Kiss for Samson's story.
OUTSTANDING job by the 4 authors to advance the story from start to finish based on their characters and what part of the hotel they were in when the attack took place. So Good - Highly recommend!
I received this book from the author for an honest review! And wow it was good! Each author tied the romantic suspense story together! Loved it and highly recommend!
Overall: It was somewhat odd reading this, because it depends on a woman being elected in 2016. This is probably a good sampler of the authors. Ferrell and Adams: While these seemed to be parts of series, I didn't feel lost and I felt the story was engaging. I would read more of the series. Northcott: I already like this author and series. Tyler: Um. Nope. We started out with "it's okay to rough up the suspect" and continued with how bad the media are to law enforcement. I did finish the book, because I wanted everything to tie up in the larger arc. I have a feeling this author might be better for me at a longer length, but I can't deal with the police/media attitude at this point.
I only read the prologue and the first story because it is part of this series, and I am unfamiliar with all of the other series. I may read them later.
I hated the Prologue. I don't like reading things from the Villain's PoV, and the more gross the villains are the less time I want to spend with them. This prologue went on about twice as long as it needed to to establish the background. By the time it was done it had me turned me off of the book so badly that I had to force myself to continue even though I knew the first story was the whole reason I bought this book.
I liked the characters in the first story, and was glad to spend more time with them. However the premise of the book was so dark that I didn't really enjoy the story much at all. I do not like the new character, Zoe, that was introduced. She was not likable. I hope she won't be the protagonist for the next story.
Read the second story. Didn't know any of the characters, but they were pretty likable. I may have to look into their series. Did NOT enjoy all of the death and destruction.
Read the third story. It was ok, but spies are not my cup of tea.
Started reading the fourth story and it was more spy stuff. Worse it was spy stuff spent with the loathsome villains. Bailed on it fairly early.
This was very entertaining. Four authors writing about the same story using different characters and each happens simultaneously. The main plot centers around a terrorist group called The Red Mantle. A woman has just been elected president and has placed other women in high positions in her cabinet. Believing a woman should never rule over a man, the terrorist group launches an attack on an inauguration gala where the newly elected president is scheduled to make an appearance. There is also an undercover operation taking place there where an illegal arms dealer is about to be taken down. The event is loaded with FBI and other law enforcement agents. This is where the different scenes take place with each revolving around people who are more than qualified to go on the defensive.
I totally enjoyed the combined effort of these authors. It made for a refreshing change from the normal romantic suspense. I would definitely recommend.
Excellent book written by four awesome writers. I love the idea of getting four different views from different agencies dealing with the same threat. Great characters, excellent storylines. Looking forward to reading more from these authors.
One event, four short stories by different authors. It's a great concept and well executed. I enjoyed all four stories which to me is unusual. It's too bad none of these were full length novels.
