A Change of Heart Piper Quinn is fighting for the future of her wolf sanctuary. So when reporter Ethan Hale arrives to cover her struggling shelter—and deems the wolves a danger to the community—she's ready to prove him wrong. A former park ranger, Ethan's seen just enough tragedy to support his claim. Soon their difference of opinion is front-page news. And Piper and Ethan must reconcile their opposing views with their stubborn hearts that are quickly finding refuge in each other.

Piper is in desperate need of funds for her wolf sanctuary. So when she gets the opportunity to talk to a reporter about her beloved wolves she jumps at the chance. But the reporter, Ethan, has an agenda. And soon Piper finds herself fighting for not only her wolves, but also her home. The sparks fly, in more ways than one, whenever these two are together.
This story is primarily emotion driven. There isn't really a lot of plot and what is there is predictable. The two main characters start the book with some glaring differences and don't really resolve them until the book is almost completed. Because of this, the romance felt a little rushed to me. But I didn't really get a sense of time, so perhaps it was longer than I thought. Overall, it was a nice story that I enjoyed, but it didn't grab me or keep me wanting to read until the last page.
I received this book free of charge from in exchange for my honest review.
I'm a new fan of Teri Wilson's, and I love the sweet stories she tells and the bleak, beautiful Alaskan setting in this series. Though I didn't like this book quite as much as the one before it, Alaskan Homecoming, this was still a tear-jerker with a feisty, independent heroine and a strong but internally wounded hero. I'll definitely read the other books in this series!
Alaska is a place I've always wanted to visit and after reading this book, I feel I've been given a lovely peek at the rugged and wonderful place. This story of Piper and Ethan, people with hurts in their pasts, is heartwarming and sweet.
Loved the setting and wish there were more stories from Aurora but I didn't like this book or characters as much as I liked the other books. Still, nice reading.
I loved this book! Both main characters were wounded souls and how I loved them! Piper was raised in the foster care system and has been searching for a family her whole life. She's also been deeply wounded in her one experience in a relationship. She has bonded with wolves and has made it her life's work to provide sanctuary for them, thereby making a substitute family for herself. Ethan had a very traumatic experience happen to him while he was a park ranger so he changed jobs and became a reporter. Ethan and Piper clash about the wolves and it turns epic! Their "war" makes it to the front page of the newspaper! However, their wounded souls come together on a deeper level that neither wants to acknowledge. I loved the journey they both took - in their personal lives, in their careers and in their relationship. I also enjoyed revisiting the other couples from previous books in this series! The rescued wolves were front and center in the story but everything was so well interwoven with the main characters and the townspeople too. A very enjoyable read!
Alaskan Sanctuary by Teri Wilson. Didn't realize there were other books before this one, since there were no "series" title listed, but knew there were other books when Palmer the reindeer showed up. He is a funny, stubborn reindeer. He plops himself down someplace and only moves when bribes with carrots. Palmer is funny in these stories. Piper Quinn has a wolf sanctuary. She is applying for a grant to keep the place open. Ethan Hales shows up to do a story on the sanctuary. Ethan is remembering five years ago when a bear attached a small girl in a park and doesn't think the wolf sanctuary should get funding. He writes his opinion on that. Piper writes an answer to his opinion in the paper the next day. This goes back and forth. The one wolf is poisoned. Hate works are written on her cabin. Sparks fly between Piper and Ethan in more ways than one. A very good read.
This latest book in Teri Wilson's Alaska series is without a date my favorite! I loved them all and this one I will most definitely reread. What a unique story! Wilson breathes life into the main characters Piper Quinn and Ethan Hale. I couldn't help but love and feel for them both. In particular, Piper's heartache that propels her to create a family with her wolves tore at my heart. Not only do the characters in this book come to life but I could see the setting in my mind like one would when watching a movie. This would be a book I would love to see turned into a movie. The descriptions of the setting were, in one word, exquisite. If a 6 star rating was possible this book would be my first 6 star review.
"The beautiful details of Alaska will draw the reader in. Wilson creates a tale that is rich in emotion and even manages to educate the readers on wolves' (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).
Love this series. Palmer is my favorite character. Learned a lot about wolves in this book. Would like to try the Gold Rush blend at the Northern Lights coffee bar.
