Smart moms know how kids’ minds grow upon sweet pickles!
Outraged Octopus is the champion of personal liberties. She declares a loud, resounding “NO!” (eight times in a row) to any social injustices, waving her flags to make the town a better place to live in.
Sweet Pickles is a series of 40 classic children's books based on 26 animal characters living in the town of Sweet Pickles. There’s one character for each letter of the alphabet and each has an exaggerated human personality trait. One-by-one, the characters finds themselves faced with one of life's common pickles, but just because a pickle is a problem doesn’t mean it can't be handled! The life lessons that come out of each character's pickle impart basic values, ethics and social skills to children.
The original Sweet Pickles book series has been digitally remastered into enhanced ebooks with vibrant artwork, and a soundtrack of award-winning animation voice actors, narrators, and story-based sound effects.
The new enhanced ebooks series creates an entertaining and engaging experience for children, while being an educational reading tool for parents and the whole family.
My first time to read Sweet Pickles. I don’t remember these from childhood at all. There are 26 animals for each letter of the alphabet and they get into pickles in their story. Octopus is a social justice warrior. He wants the world to be fair. It reminds me of the movie ‘The Way we Were’. A friend is being bullied and Octopus steps in to help him. There are 3 animals being mean. I don’t know that wrapping bullies up in a flag is the way to solve the issue, but I enjoy the heart that Octopus shows in life. It’s a fun series and the nephew thought this was funny.
Both kids got into these books. They are great for a summer reading challenge. They gave it 5 stars.
We're just getting back around to the point where protesting and standing up for a cause is once again being seen in children's books. This is a story about Octopus, who is determined to make her city a better place. When she discovers a group of bullies ganging up on a defenseless playmate, Octopus immediately intervenes. In fact, the strong "No Bullies!" message is very contemporary to today's kids' media.
I had the "Sweet Pickles" kit as a kid, and I remember some of the books, but I don't remember this one.
