LOVED this story! It was unexpected, sexy, sad, funny and HOT! Lani wants answers for her sisters death so she goes undercover and finds way more than she bargained for. Tony has been in prison it seems forever and has nothing left to live for. When a sassy, sexy Lani enters his world, things start to brighten. I can't wait to read what happens next!

Really good book and easy to get in once l picked it up it was hard to put down and I highly recommend it to anybody and l really enjoyed reading it and would happily read it again

Prisoner
Great storyline
Have you ever been talking to someone and they just didn't get what you were saying? Tried to get your point across but couldn't explain yourself with the right words? For me, that is this book. I think the author has this great idea but just doesn't get her point across completely because there is all of this extra that just doesn't make sense.
I don't normally describe a book, but here I cannot resist. The author opens with a sex scene between the female lead and her boss who happens to be married with kids. She pursued him, like she does all of her conquests male or female, married or not. She even has a scene with her partner's wife. She is a detective and comes up with this wacked out plan to get into jail to find her sister's murderer. Well the plan work even though it shouldn't. Days later she ends up in a situation that she takes surprisingly well, despite the fact that it is basically rape. And then she falls in love with the guy? The storyline before that was just too much bs for me to get into. The storyline after they meet and get down and dirty is pretty good and well excuted. I got in to the story up until she became a whiney female. That didn't make sense to me because she was basically a dude with tits before him and now she is suddenly a girly, whiney, female?
I think the author has a great idea. I think she built great characters before she put them in the story but as it developed they changed into something they were not meant to be. The dude cries, a lot. She never cries but he does. He is a trained Seal but he never acts like it. Those guys have instincts that will never leave them, this guy has almost none. He is not a Seal in my eyes.
I may read the second book if I ever come across it after it is released, but only to see if the author gets better with her execution. Maybe I do want to see a little where the story goes, just a little.
This book is an erotica, there is sex and lots of it.

When Detective Melanie "Lani" Vaden's younger sister is found dead in a jail cell, it is ruled a suicide. Lani doesn't believe it and decides to go undercover to find out exactly what happened to Addison. With the help of her partner, his wife (a former lover), and her step father (a doctor), she manages to infiltrate the jail.
It quickly becomes apparent that something is not right and within the first weekend there, Lani finds out exactly what it is. After being kidnapped and forced to watch two prisoners from the nearby maximum-security prison fight to death, she is informed she is the winner’s prize and must do whatever he wants if she wants to survive the night.
Into her life enters Antony "Tony" Roman, a SEAL officer, who was falsely convicted of war crimes. He is everything Lani doesn't need in her life, but after spending a very hot night together she knows she has to help him; he is not the monster everyone thinks.

Ms. Silvey really had me going with this book. In the beginning I thought it was just going to be another sex-filled erotica book. Boy, was I wrong! I read it in one sitting!
This book was action and sex packed but, there was no shortage of real genuine human emotion. By chapter two I was hooked and could not put it down until I was finished. I even found myself crying as Tony explains his past to Lani after one of their "sessions". I cannot sing the praises of this book enough. Five out of five stars!!
Remember this book is ONLY for the 18+ Crowd for LOTS of mature themes! If you don't like some "naughty time" with both genders and a little violence this is NOT the book for you!

Prisoner grabs the reader’s attention from the very first sentence. Why? Well, I would have sworn that it was a masculine voice I was reading and then … BOOM … it’s a woman. The opening really drew me in and made me even more curious about Lani Vaden. Detective Melanie ‘Lani’ Vaden is on a mission to find her sister’s killer. At least, she wants to know how her sister dies suspiciously in police custody. Det. Vaden is willing to do anything it takes to get the answers she needs. Even if getting her answers puts her in harm’s way. Lani is a cocky, take charge kind of girl who needed a strong male lead that would counter her well. She finds her match in Antony Roman … former Navy Seal Antony Roman … sexy former Navy Seal Antony Roman who should have been celebrated as a hero but instead has been imprisoned for 10 years. Sentenced for committing crimes he wasn’t guilty of. Roman is the perfect match for Lani because they complement each other so well.
The concept for Prisoner is different than most of the books I’ve read lately. The story had the potential to spiral off into so many different directions but the author did a very good job with keeping Lani and Antony’ s story on course. What made the story was the chemistry between the lead characters. As the reader, I could clearly see the chemistry between the two and how they needed one another for survival. Roman needed Lani because he was preparing to die, to give up on his life. Life, family and love lost (in his eyes what did he have to live for). For Lani it’s the feeling or the knowledge of being cherished. The secondary characters are interesting and I am hoping that the next installment is ANGST filled with ex-wives and ex-lovers galore.

This is not my typical kind of read, but I found the blurb to be intriguing enough to want to know more.
I enjoyed reading Prisoner, it was a quick and easy read with enough to keep me interested throughout the entire book. I found the relationship between "Lani & Tony" to be a little unusual, but it worked! The second half of the story is where it picked up for me and I was able to understand the characters better and get a sense of who they were and their story.
Overall, it was a well written, quick read with some hot scenes and the characters had a few witty remarks that I enjoyed. This was the first book I read by this author and I would def read more.
If you're looking for something different, and erotic, I recommend this book!

Prisoner was a wonderful surprise. It is raw and graphic as well as uplifting. Melani, aka Lani is a cop who's wild child sister died in jail of suspicious circumstances. Lani want's to know what happened. Antony Roman, a former SEAL has been in prison for 10 years, serving time for a crime he did not commit. This is a story about live and death, love and redemption, right and wrong. The heat is on full blast once Lani and Antony meet. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more of Melissa Silvey's work.

I really loved this story, there is so many feelings that go along with reading this story. It is sexy, sweet, sad and interesting. It had a different feel than most books I have read lately and I have really enjoyed getting to read this book.

I have to say it grabs you from the get go, some people may stop after they read the first sentence, but I was too curious to see what was going on! I absolutely loved the whole story line and was routing for Lani throughout the book!

This book sucked me in from the first page. And that's rare for me. Normally it takes a chapter or two. Tony is wrongfully imprisoned. Lani is imprisoned so she can find her sister's killer. And due to circumstances that make you wonder if it is ever done, they meet. After one night of nothing but sex Tony decides she is the only female he wants to visit. During their visits they learn about each other's lives. In the second half you get a lot of the answers to the questions from the beginning of the book. It's one I couldn't put down because there was always something you wanted to read more about. Cannot wait for the next book!

Such an amazing and sexy read! Follow Lani on an emotional ride to find out the truth behind her sister's "suicide" where she trades in her badge and handcuffs for a cot behind bars. You wont be able to put this book down once you find out what happens behind bars! Lets just say prison isn't like Vegas, and what happens there is unlikely to stay there....

I got this book from the author for an hones review. This is the first book that I have read from this author, and it was amazing. I will be reading book 2. This book has steamy sex scenes. It has M/F and also a little F/F. If you don't mind that than this is the book for you.

Yes I read The Prisoner book 1 in a whole sitting, I just couldn't put it down!
The story of Lani and Roman is somewhat an unusual one, it has many highs and lows and I have to admit I got quite teary reading some of the chapters. But this is good because when I do that as I read I know that I'm reading a damn good, well written book!
Melissa has to go down on my favourite author list now. She writes with such a passion, and you can feel this in her stories and well thought out grounded characters. The story just jumps off the page and into your head, then come the emotions, happy, sad, despairing and just downright heartbreaking tears.
This and book two in the series has to be at the top of your to read list because it is absolutely amazing.

As the author, I often fall in love with my characters. But these two, Lani and Tony, along with the supporting characters of Constance, her husband Jamie, and Lani's ex Killian, all stole my heart. Although their story is complete in Prisoner and Together, I may have to revisit these characters in the future. I am very proud of this book, and I hope you enjoy it when you read it.
It is intended for a mature audience of 18+, because Lani is a cop with a foul mouth, Tony is an ex-seal, and they are very sexually and emotionally attracted to each other.

Love this book! Being the editor for Melissa Silvey gives me an in depth look at everything she writes, and let me tell you, Prisoner is one of my favorites! I can't wait to see how Tony and Lani's story progresses in Book 2!

This book catches you attention from the very beginning, when I started reading it I couldn't put it down. It is a hot, steamy, amazing, emotional read. Lani is a strong willed Detective who wants to know what happened to her sister who died in prison, so she hands in cuffs and goes undercover to find out. Tony Roman is hot, alpha, ex navy seal now prisoner, who has lost wife, kids and falsely convicted of war crimes. I can't wait to see what happens in book#2.

Antony Roman is a SEAL who was unjustly sentenced to life in a private prison for war crimes for the last 10 or so years. Melanie Vaden is a cop who goes undercover at the women’s jail to find out what happened to her sister who died in the hands of the prison system. What she discovers is much bigger than she expected. She is soon the ‘prize’ for an illegal death match. Matches that are happening weekly between the male inmates at the prison set by corrupt prison authorities.

I have fallen in love with Prisoner by Melissa Silvey. This was an unexpected read for me due to the fact that I have never read anything by the author, but let me just say Prisoner will not be the only book I read. She has a way of drawing you in with some hot, steamy scenes, but also giving you a great love story as well as some mystery into Prisoner.
Melanie “Lani” Vale is a tough woman in her own right. She is a cop, a daughter, and sister. But I feel she has a vulnerable side to her that not many will ever get the chance to see. And this side is put to the test when she is determined to find out the real story behind her sister’s death when she was put in jail. The one thing Lani never counted on was to find the one person behind bars that she truly has a connection too and that is inmate Antony “Tony” Roman. But not only could he be the one man for her that she can’t have, but he could also be the one person to help her get what she is looking for.

3.5 stars. Given by the author for an honest review. I enjoyed the book. If you read the blub you know what its about. It was a different concept than anything I've read thus far. It could have gone in so many different ways. But the author kept it fairly simplistic and it waa an easy read. Lani was a strong female lead and made no aplogies for who she was. Roman was pure alpha male. I liked it and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

I really enjoyed the story in the beginning. Lani is a wonderful character. Strong willed and head strong. However as the story goes on she because really annoying and whiny. Thats when I started to not enjoy what I was reading. While I do enjoy erotica there was just to much sex for me. It started to seem repetitive. I do really love that actual plot line though.
