The gang is back, and this time pitted against the most-dangerous enemy the galaxy has ever faced. Among the challenges our heroic trio encounters are a five-thousand-year-old mutant genius and a one-trillion-strong race of ravenous trans-dimensional invaders. Once again Adam, Riyad and Sherri find themselves neck-deep in an epic struggle to save the Milky Way from an evil that doesn't play favorites. And uniting against the invaders are the Humans, the Juireans and even the Klin...to show just how serious the threat has become. Yet in spite of all the massive space battles, heroic deeds and daring rescues, everything to this point has only been a prelude, a Prelude to War.

Like all the Human Chronicles adventures, this one is a non-stop, action-packed page-turner, filled with exotic aliens, damsels in distress, covert military operations, spectacular space battles, devastating secret weapons, and even a few trans-dimensional portals which require closing--at all costs. Full of humor, as well as tight, compact writing, Prelude to War is over-the-top science fiction adventure as only Adam Cain can live it and T.R. Harris can write it.

Really bad editing

The story is great, but there are so many mistakes in the writing that it seems there was no editing whatsoever. I wouldn't be mentioning it except that it spoils the flow and disrupts my imagination as I try to immerse myself in the story.

I was somewhat disappointed with the previous instalment in The Human Chronicles series. However, with this instalment the series is back in good shape. Very good shape indeed.

Adam, Riyad and Sherri are back. A few other friends like the voluptuous Arieel Bol are back as well and all of them are in good shape to dish out quite a bit of Armageddon on certain, unsuspecting, trans-dimensional alien invaders.

Where the previous book felt like just a repeat of old stories this one embarks on a new fresh story with fresh enemies as well as friends. Some of these are truly enemies and some, like the five thousand year old mutant genius, are jumping all over the enemy-friend scale. I did quite like this mutant though. We are introduced to yet another race as well. One which are shown to have some very important qualities when facing these new enemies.

If you have read any of the previous books by T. R. Harris you would know by now that these are fairly straightforward, simple, action adventures as opposed to hard core, deep, science fiction. This book is no different. It starts off with a little prelude but it rather quickly embarks on one of T. R. Harris’ usual roller-coaster rides of twists and turns with a healthy dose of alien bashing during the ride. As one reviewer stated, these books would make for a good TV-show or a TV-movie mini series, provided that it received a decent enough budget and an above average scriptwriter of course (SyFy please keep your paws off this one!).

Despite the name of the book it does not end in an outright cliffhanger. It is a good adventure with both start and finish. Sure the dangers are not over and the enemy is not defeated but the reader is not left hanging. The book ends in a acceptable place in the overall story as well as in a fairly happy ending.

There are a few mishaps concerning the editing that even I noticed but not enough to spoil the enjoyment to any real degree. With this book I am back to eagerly awaiting the next instalment in the series.

Humans are still the apex!

The human chronicles is one of my favorite sci-fi series. It seems like there are many Adam Cain imitators now, but this series still tops them all. Although this books falls into the typical kindle trap of sub par editing (missing "and'," to", etc...), I'm used to that sort of thing ; of course I am, I subscribe to kindle unlimited! Anyway, if you read the first nine, I know you'll like this one. If you haven't read 1-9, go do that now!

Great read

This was another good read by Mr Harris . I always love it when Adam gets into trouble. The book was action packed and a fast-paced page turner. Could not put it down . Love this series it's got more aliens then you can shake a stick at and they all contribute something to the story. Even has some of the main ones from the first book . Great job.

My favorite so far.

I just finished binge reading the series to this point, and I have to say that this one was the best yet. We were introduced to some new players, the most intriguing of which to me was the mutant, Panur. Well done, Mr. Harris. I can't wait to see where you take us from here.

Another Great Continuation of the Story...

Great continuation of the story. I have come to see these characters as old friends. I am continuing on to the next book in the series.
