Submission at The Tower: The Depths of Desire

Rate this book
"This is not a love story. This is the story of the hunger inside of me which must be fed before it consumes me entirely…"

After a chance encounter with a handsome stranger introduces her to The Tower, an institution that trains women in submission, Janie McClusky is irresistibly drawn to the place. But admittance comes at a price, and soon enough Janie is utterly bare and fully on display, blushing crimson as the men at The Tower thoroughly explore her body, bringing her pain, pleasure, and shame as they see fit.

As Janie’s training begins, there is one man among the group who seems to know her own needs better than she does, and before long she finds herself yearning and even begging for his touch. But if she relinquishes control completely to this captivating stranger and allows him to break down her remaining defences, will there be any coming back at all?

Publisher’s Note: Submission at The Tower is an erotic novel that includes spankings, sexual scenes, extensive BDSM content, exhibitionism, anal play, and more. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

"This is not a love story. This is my story; the story of my base, complicated needs and how I intend to satisfy them."

I love that quote, but I think the 'not a love story' may not be entirely true. Janie McClusky is on a mission to finally fulfill this all consuming hunger that's been inside of her. A chance run-in with a handsome stranger and a card that reads....

"The Tower.
Consensual Female Surrender"

Is all she needs to set her journey of submission into motion.

Janie goes to The Tower for a trial or an audition to see if this is something that she will want to pursue and to see if the men of The Tower will accept and train her. Janie is submissive to the core. She knows this and needs to fulfill this deep seeded need down into her soul. This group of men may end up changing her life forever.

"While you're here, you belong to me and to every other man in this room."

Once Janie is introduced to the men of The Tower, there is one man in particular that Janie has a connection with. He is not completely immune to Janie and also has a strong pull and unexpected desire towards her.

I don't really want to tell you too much more because I don't want to spoil anything for you. Just buy the book. If you love stories about self discovery, power exchange relationships, BDSM and hot and steamy erotic sex then you'll love this book. The writing style is exquisite and flows really well. Just when you think the story might be coming to an end, you are actually plunged a little further into this erotica world. All I have to say is... "lost property box". Holy hell! I want to do that... with him!

description

I've gotta mention the sex. Oh my... I think I may be blushing a little right now just writing this. "It's Hot" does not accurately describe the level of hotness. I did occasionally get some butterfly flips in my belly. However, he (who you will figure out soon enough) didn't eat her pussy until really late in the book. Not really that big of a deal because ALL the other stuff he did more than made up for it. But I do love a good clit Master. Mmmm ;)

"Fuck, I want to do you, right here and right now, little one," he growls into my face. "I want to possess you and make you mine."

description

What I didn't care for is that Janie is a bit of a cry baby. I mean, I get it that this is a life changing experience and she is seriously riding front row on her emotional roller coaster. I'm not saying that I probably wouldn't do the same thing if I was her, but I feel that she can cry at the drop of a clothes pin and the way she uses avocado felt like a weak and wrong moment to me. I get it... it's her journey.

Overall, this is a very good read and I would recommend this to anyone who likes BDSM erotic romance. This is my first Felicity Brandon book and most definitely will not be my last. I'm very interested in some of the side characters too. Are they going to get their own stories or are they going to become a bigger part of the main story? I'm very intrigued and can't wait to read more to find out where Janie's story takes us.

Here are some of my favorite quotes:
"Now I'm going to fuck your beautiful face, number sixteen," he says above me, his voice like thunder over my head. "Don't try to fight me..."

"I will master you in every way and you will be laid open wide to me. I will know you in a way that no other man - in fact no other person - has ever known you before."

"Most women who choose to submit are strong-willed and intelligent. Our job is less about controlling them and more about inspiring them to serve."

"This is who I am - at least this is one part of me - and I am tired of repressing her. I am tired of being denied."

"...while you're still convulsing at my touch, I am going to fuck you hard into this mattress. Do you understand?"

This book is the best mix of well-written and hot. So many erotica eBooks are short chapters of a whole, written by authors with dirty minds and limited writing skills. This is not one of those.

Felicity Brandon can write. The writing in this book is slick. The words don't get in the way of the ideas. I pictured every moment in Technicolor, and I was never distracted by a bobble in grammar. This book is full of smooth sentences that stroked the clit of my (not-so) inner grammar nazi.

All this slick writing paved the way for a story that is hot as f%@k. A submissive woman happens across a man with the key to unlocking her submissive self, and ends up in a living fantasy of public humiliation and submission and private affection. And submission. Any submissive will recognize her need and her compulsion to be there, as well as to stay.

As the author says, it's not a love story, but sometimes that's not what a girl needs.

This book is the best of both worlds--truly excellent writing and hot, effing hot sex and submission.

This book is a deeply personal self-study of a woman learning to embrace her submissive nature. The author is clearly a master of erotic exploration and is able to make even the most base act appealing. This heroine clearly wants to submit and revels in being debased. It's clearly written for those who see romance and sensuality in a power exchange. If you like well-written and titillating erotic, you'll love this book.

Not Just Great Erotica, Great Fiction. Read. Get Hot. Read Some More.

I have been wanting to read Submission at the Tower by Felicity Brandon for some time, being a lover of all things erotic and knowing her reputation for great stories and great sex. I had been told by several friends that the author’s work was very good and she had a knack for starting the fire.

So, it had been on my list for a bit. I got the chance to read the book earlier in the week, and I have been chomping at the bit to write a review. I was so interested in reviewing it, that I put my rating up on Goodreads long before I finished my review.

All that to say, I loved this story. I love her writing and I plan on completing this series when I get a chance.

There is so much formulaic fiction out there—especially in Erotica and Romance. It is almost like we can read dozens of books, change the character names and voila, it is the same book we read a week ago, or a month or a year.

Don’t get me wrong—I love those books and I read them like I’m addicted. But, this one comes along and throws me curve. That is all I will say about plot. It is fun and dark, and perverted -- and it is different, and it will keep you engaged all along.

The characters in this, particularly the main characters is a strong 3-dimensional woman that you actually give a damn about. She starts out a little measured, but she blossoms, and her depth quickly draws you into her. You begin to see all kinds of layers with her, and you like her a lot. you care about her, and all the things she struggles with.

ah…the most important thing—at least for many of you—the sexy. What’s the sexy like? is it good? is it engaging? does it draw you into the scene? To those questions, I say: it is very well written, it is very good (fanning myself every night after reading) and it is engaging like much of Erotica is not. The sex is not mechanical, it is filled with emotional relevance, and deep physical description that heightens your involvement.

There were times I had to put it away and take a breather, the sex was so hot! It engaged me at a base, sexual level. I wish I could write like Felicity Brandon. She will make you gasp and breathe deep. She will make you look at the ceiling and imagine you are…well you know…take it from me. If you want Sex, this story starts the engine takes it right to Climax…quick as you like.

Submission at The Tower: The Depths of Desire is an erotic BDSM novel and a unique, intense and fast-paced exploration of one woman's journey into sexual submission. Set in the luxurious and mysterious location known only as 'The Tower', the story is told entirely through Janie's eyes and offers the reader an insight into every arousing high and insecure low that she experiences there.
Upon arrival, Janie consents to 'audition' for the men of The Tower and from there the reader is invited to bear witness as her every dark and delicious fantasy unfolds at the hands of her new masters. The book contains sizzling scenes of submission, sexual humiliation, and spanking, as well as those of the developing intimacy and desire she feels. Janie is prepared to submit her body for mutual pleasure, but when she meets an alluring dominant called Patrick Shaw, she'll have to decide if her heart is on offer as well...

This was only my second foray into the "Lifestyle" of BDSM but wow!!! What a journey. I read it in the space of two nights, which is a testament to how well written it is.

Described in the first person, and over a period of 24 hours. It follows the main female character Janie who has been fighting to suppress her submissive urges. Signing up for a program of submission at "The Tower", enables the reader to experience the ordeal through her eyes. This brings a personal touch to the book, and captivates the reader, well it did me anyway.

For myself not knowing anything about the BDSM lifestyle, the author makes it clear that the act of "submitting" is not only empowering for Janie, but it something that she consents to, and not forced. It is a journey of self-discovery and something that Janie needs to fulfill her life. Not being one to inflict pain on myself, I never really understood why anyone would want to have that done to them. However, the story itself has cleared up that mystery for me.

It is not just cruelty and pain, it is sprinkled with a touch of romance if you look carefully enough. Janie's passion for Shaw the masterful Dom at the Tower, is almost a love story be it on the back of Janie's humiliation and pain through the ordeal of submission.

In conclusion, the book is beautifully written, and captures and keeps your attention the whole way through. A definite page turner and one that I can highly recommend if you are new or indeed familiar with this genre and lifestyle.

I'm Breathless For More

Janie shows up at The Tower for her audition. Will she be accepted as a submissive? In front of a room full of Dominant men she's led through a series of training exercises by Shaw, a strong sexy Dom. Janie, known as number sixteen, senses the instant chemistry they share and following the public session, Shaw breaks his own and The Tower's rules as he privately trains Janie. So, will she or won't she sign the contract? If she signs, she'll see the luscious Shaw as her primary Dominant. But she'll be at the disposal of the entire group. What will she choose?

I loved the story and the oh, so hot sex. I can't wait for the continuation. Submissive at the Tower is highly recommended.

I finished this book and I was rather amazed at Felicity's writing. There are some really, really, REALLY good points here, and for people interested in BDSM erotica, I would definitely recommend this for a read. Even though the book is written in the present tense, which I personally do not care for, the story was engrossing enough that I was able to forget about the tense and just enjoy the story. The sex is good, and the portrayal of the BDSM lifestyle was... interesting. It's the main character's desire to learn to submit, and find her power in submitting, and her internal journey is done very well. Unlike some other BDSM books, it's made very clear this is entirely consensual, and it's what the main character wants, desperately.

Why not five stars? The book happens within a day, and it both seemed... too rushed and too long all at the same time. It seemed to me that she was rushing into the spankings and lifestyle, inviting more. Which I get. It's hot. It was enjoyable for her. Yet for a newbie? It seemed too much. And it happened over the course of a day... which means all those words are one day. One. Day. We couldn't spread it out? See more of her life? Why does she want to be so submissive? How does the Tower work exactly? I would have liked to have seen more. I do think this is an excellent beginning to a series, but I felt somewhat... bereft here.

It's beautifully written though, and it was hot, and my nitpicks were just enough to ding it a little bit. It didn't diminish my enjoyment of the story (that much), and I would definitely like to see more. :)

This is the first book I have read by Felicity Brandon and what a journey it was.

This book is well written, sets the scene to the point you really are there, truly an astonishing read.

This book is written in 1st person and over a 24 hour period. As the reader we follow Janie the female character who has been fighting her submissive urges. ‘The Tower’ she finds and sets herself on the program first having to undergo a trial. A trial you simply feel every touch, sound, heartbeat and emotion. The trial by far means is not easy, she is shown the true meaning of submitting yourself, and entering the BDSM lifestyle.

Shaw the masterful Dom is chosen to take Janie on this journey of discovering and fighting her own inner battles. He looks after her, Dom’s her makes her get a scent of self-discovery, pushing her limits.

I felt a romance building, correction I wanted a romance, and in some sense I felt exactly that, but Shaw was simply remaining her Dom, and Janie to get through the pain and humiliation, convinced herself he felt the same, but no.

Now for me and for what Janie went through it appeared a lot mentally and physically for a 24 hour period, but by all means, it worked. This was a journey of self-discovery, pain, spanking and a hot Dom. A definite page turner, and if you enjoy reading BDSM this book is for you or if you are thinking about entering into the submissive world, this will give you a good indication what might go on or you might experience.

It is not often that a book grabs you and refuses to let go until the end, but this one kept me up until three am, reading this powerful story of the complete submission of Janie McClusky at the hands of Shaw, one of the members of an organisation that trains willing women in the art of complete surrender.

Janie is given a number, sixteen, instead of a name, and is assigned to Shaw to take control of her as she proceeds with the interview to admit her as a submissive to the Tower, where women are trained to submit to the members of the organisation. The chemistry between sixteen and Shaw is intense and very powerful, and as she enters the world of complete submission, he takes her to places she has never imagined. Not only do we see the depths of Janie's need to submit to Shaw, we come to see how he too connects powerfully with the woman he has only just met.

The author has a superb flowing writing style and is able to draw the reader into this intensely erotic world, and hold their attention with this powerfully-written book right through to the end with little effort. I look forward to reading much more from Ms Brandon in due course, based on the strength of this book.

The heavy and complex world of BDSM is not my go-to erotica, as I prefer more light-hearted, tongue-in-cheek naughtiness. So, the fact that I was incredibly intrigued throughout my journey with Submission at The Tower is a testament to how good the writing truly is in this compelling novel!

Janie is in search of herself. Finally realizing that she should shed the shame of her desires and embrace them instead, she auditions for a spot at the Tower. Her whirlwind experience over the course of approximately twenty-four hours leaves barriers broken and a new purity of conviction in regard to her desires. She learns that power is derived from surrender, and that her brave exploration provides her a new freedom she never imagined.

Felicity Brandon is a serious writer who has penned a terrific novel, clarifying that it's not important why we have the kinks we do, but how to wrest happiness and satisfaction from them instead. I highly recommend this terrific title, and I can hardly wait to read her next publication!

Holy mother of literary gods! What a fantastic book!

I must say, what an exquisitely written trip into the rabbit hole that is the mentality of a true submissive. Janie McCluskey takes you on a first person journey through her admittance through full acceptance of her desires to be controlled and beyond.

If you want to take a trip into a lifestyle that you might not comprehend fully, I highly recommend this book as your tour guide!

This is a very intense book. It takes place over 24 hours, but there is a lot going on. There are a lot of different aspects of BDSM that make an appearance in this book, including humiliation. But what I enjoyed most about this book is that is showed the internal thoughts and emotions of Janie . There is a lot of room for how she feels and experiences her submission. She even surprised herself with the depth of her feelings and how far she could go and take.

This was one hot story that the reader gets to take while Janie searches for something missing in her life. Will she find it at The Tower? One man seems to take a very real interest in her and as he puts her through all the tests required to become a house submissive, we start to wonder if this might turn into something more. Beautifully written but to be honest, there were a few times I kind of cringed a bit and thought about stopping but I didn't want to do that. I'm glad I didn't. I really hope we get more of Janie and Shaw in a future book?

When you are faced with your strongest temptation, deepest longing, most shameful fantasy, buried under layers of social masks and acceptable behavior, will you embrace it or will you run away scared, like you did all your life? Will you surrender to the calling coming from the depth of your soul or will you withdraw to the comfort of your shell, forever asking the question “what if”? How do you get over the habit of resisting your urges when you have been fighting all your life?

These are some of the questions the heroine of Submission At The Tower must answer for herself during the most intense, humiliating, painful and arousing audition. The audition to be accepted in the Tower, a mysterious club meant to bring fantasies to life and train submissive women. Janie finally can have an abundance of what she always craved and get in touch with the desire to submit, with her slutty side, to get over the fear of being labeled as a “whore” and let the wave carry her away. All this can be hers, if she finds the strength to get over the resistance and her own pride, to embrace her new role at the feet of the man who understands her needs and nature better than anyone.

This is the first book by Felicity Brandon I read, however, it will surely not be the last one. Her writing is flowing, well-structured, beautiful to read. Submission At The Tower is a perfect balance between dirty, shameless eroticism and emotional intensity. It is as if the reader experiences all that Janie goes through during her journey through the world of kink and domination.

The characters were very well-drawn and felt real even if the whole setting was meant to be more about a fantasy and was somehow surreal. I loved that the heroine was a more mature woman with life experience and not the usual wide-eyed ingenue and innocent. Still, that didn’t prevent Janie from being awkward and clumsy like a blushing schoolgirl during her first attempts at submission. The conflicting emotions were overwhelming her and she’d often go from shy and somehow prideful person to a woman fully confident whom Master she wanted to belong to.

That brings us to Shaw, the man Janie feels instant chemistry for and her guide through the audition and initiation. In many ways, I feel he was a great Dominant with quiet strength and hypnotic, alluring presence. It was no wonder that Janie was instantly drawn to him. He’d be the perfect Master for a woman like her who wants to learn how to surrender. A person used to be in control needs a subtle yet firm guidance during such a scary transition, from an independent woman into a willing submissive. Someone harsher and colder would have either completely broken her or would have steeled her resolution to fight back. The moments when he lost himself in his sudden passion for “number 16” were quite endearing, as well as boiling hot erotic.

As for the sex scenes, Felicity truly knows how to make even the harshest kink and most humiliating tasks appear like the most sensual and exciting experience that can happen to a girl. Even the things I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy reading about, let alone going through in real life suddenly were so seductive I longed to be in Janie’s place.

So, the book has a strong story, amazing erotica, and intense characters. In time those two characters would become a perfect synch of dominance and submission once they allowed the wave to bring them together.

My biggest problem was exactly that, the time. The whole book takes place in one day, which was way too overwhelming and a little rushed. Even though I understood the characters I don’t feel like I truly got to know them in the context of the outside world. What is Janie’s social history, first kinky thoughts, and feelings, her past relationships, why is she fighting so strong. All we really learn about her is that she is a very sensual woman in her late thirties and that she’s been fighting for respect all her life but that didn’t satisfy me. Shaw is an even bigger mystery. And The Tower? How does it function exactly? How was it ever founded and how did Shaw find himself as one of the Masters? What happens after the end of the week at the Tower? Do the women walk away more sure of themselves and their submissive nature or do they continue visiting that strange, erotic place?

Perhaps we’ll get all the answers in the next book and I really hope there will be one. All of this didn’t diminish my enjoyment of the story and the exploration they went through. However, it left me hungry and in need of more. So I hope that Felicity will bring us back to the Tower soon enough. There is so much left to learn about the world she created.

Even if pain and humiliation are not your particular kinks, I’d strongly recommend this book to anyone with interest in human nature and sexuality. It’s a great example of erotica done right.

A well written story about a woman that is seeking herself and her sexual longings. It is written with a use of words that captivates the reader because it feels so real. You are almost a fly on the wall. Very well described steamy dark scenes.
I like the chemistry and passion between the characters.
A intense engaging erotic story about finding yourself and fulfilling your needs.

This was the first book I had read in this genre and the first by this author, and OMG! WOW! Never have I read such an intensely emotional and absorbing story of a woman determined to explore and even embrace her need for submission and masochism.

I adore the way Felicity Brandon’s talented writing took hold of my mind and my emotions and proceeded to submerge my very being into the psychological mindset of a woman who craves total submission, humiliation and pain. And, I loved feeling like I was there for this journey. I loved every single word! This story is not only erotic and exciting, and sinfully sexy, but by letting us into Janie’s thoughts, it is also extremely informative. Janie works hard, extremely hard, to shed the feelings of shame associated with her previously suppressed desires. It was surprising to me to discover the more she submits, the stronger she becomes. Through this encounter at the Tower, Janie, is finally learning to fully accept herself, as she truly is, and that that person has great value.

The characters Ms. Bene so skillfully created along with the myriad emotions she elicited from me will forever live on in a hidden part of my own psyche. Do yourself a favor and READ THIS BOOK!

I enjoyed reading this book. It's well written and described. All the characters are well done. I didn't enjoy the degrading behavior to the women. I felt that they were negatively treated because of their needs and men were lauded. I would not read more of this series.

I started reading this ages ago, had to put it aside in order to read some arcs and for some reason had never got back to it. A 'snow day' gave me the opportunity to finish this and I'm very happy that I did.

Whilst this doesn't end on a cliffhanger, it doesn't end at a HEA, or even really a HFN. It warns it isn't a romance story, and whilst there does seem to be a very wonderful connection between Shaw and Janie, the warning is correct. What we get is a powerful story of a woman exploring her submissive side and applying to enter a training facility to do just that. At first I though this was going to be just a lot of sex with little substance but I actually discovered that this book has depth.

I really felt a connection to Janie and loved seeing her struggles and enjoyment during her time at The Tower. She is a strong and powerful female who owns her sexuality and finds release in her submission. I loved the chemistry between her and Shaw and can't wait to find out how the story continues - more please Ms Brandon.

Janie enters the Tower to audition for a position as a submissive in training. The BDSM "gentleman's club" has auditions to add to their stable of submissives and Janie has consented to go through the many tests of her voluntary need to submit. She is put through her paces and her guide is Shaw who gives her the assurances Janie aka #16, needs as each test pushes her boundaries. This was one steaming hot story of one test after another and Janie is humiliated, used and abused all with her consent! I adored how firm yet considerate Shaw was with Janie, but he always stuck with protocol, even though he gave Janie what she needed to succeed. Although this keeps your interest and has plenty of titillating sexual scenes, I still want more!!! Does Janie continue going to the Tower, does she continue her Submissive Training? Do Shaw and Janie get to see each other again? I sure hope Ms. Brandon picks up her pen and satisfies my need for more!

This book was fantastic as Jane takes the opportunity to explore her submissive side to its fullest that she so desparately needs to figure out with the help from the Doms at the tower she is a number 16 and we get inside her head as she lets herself go and truly experiences her most secret desires in front of her master. I loved Shaw he was intense and wasn't an easy master and pushed Jane to the limit. The writing is just WOW and the characters were very well developed. Emotional, sexy, I loved it.

Submission at The Tower

This book took me 4 time of stating, stopping, then starting again to get through. I am normally not one to drop a book then go back to it so many time. This story was exceptionally written, flowed well, and was the kind of story I kind of normally read. I do love Felicity Brandon's works dearly... But, there was just that one something that just held me back (a trigger I guess) I had to force myself to get over to finish reading it to the end. I do recommend this story highly with caution if you are like me with triggers. Enough said.

Too Hot To Handle?

I started this book with excited trepidation. At first it was getting good. Then it felt too much. Then it was good again. It was always good. It's just that a few scenes took me a back. This definitely isn't for everyone. Yet, I didn't think it was for me but I liked it. Goes to show you never know if you'll like something unless you try. Try it. You might like it!

This is about a woman searching for what she finds sexually satisfying. She explores her submissive side and in doing so finds an emotional attachment. She is seeking admission to The Tower. The book ends and she hasn’t made up her mind. I would have liked to see her go back to The Tower for the week long stay and explore her chemistry with the man. Leaving it hanging left me unsatisfied and that is why I gave it four stars instead of five.

I got this book in exchange for a voluntary review. Janie knows she doesn't fit in a vanilla world. She goes to the tower to ask to be admitted for submission training. She becomes number sixteen. This book is an erotic story told of someone seeking to enter the world of BDSM. The author definitely takes the reader along for the ride !

Oooh - the interaction, the electricity between number sixteen and Shaw is intense. When they become Janie and Patrick it’s becomes even more.
I’m not that big in humiliation, but it’s not my story - it’s Janie’s.
It was a fast paced story, even if it took some time - had to read every word.
