Alex, Gabriella and the other Guardians of Orion have arrived in Fenodara, a beautiful Luminar city that acts as the last beacon of hope for a dying civilization - but also a place that hides a dark secret. Never before have they been so close to the Ageless war and witnessed the way it corrupts not only the fading world, but also those who live there.
Soon afterwards, a devastating attack on the city rips Orion apart. Broken and defeated, the Guardians are forced to separate and travel through the dark underbelly of Pandemonia in a desperate attempt to save those they love, and stop the forces of Hades before it is too late. However, the longer Alex spends in the dark and hostile world, the more a single fact becomes clear to him.
This is a journey they might never return from.
DILECTI SURGEMUS - SOCII POLLEMUS (Chosen we rise - Allied we prevail)
Stuart was born in the smoky outskirts of london. After years spent running the rat race, in 2008 he knew it was time to start working on the novel he’d been threatening to write since he was 16. several scrapped storylines, and one English and Creative Writing degree from the University of Birmingham later, The Awakening landed.
Stuart was more shocked than anyone when the novel became a sleeper hit and set him on an entirely different and far more exciting path through life than he ever expected.
Cut to 2018. six novels, a novella and several short stories down, Stuart spends most of his time in his home in Worcester, continuing to pen the bestselling Hasea Chronicles series, as well as new science fiction/fantasy stories, all whilst avoiding the addictive siren call of daytime television.
In addition to the ongoing hasea chronicles, Stuart has written the golden Wing - the first book in the children’s fantasy series, Tommy and the Simbots, and is also hard at work on London Burning, the first novel in the dystopian series, The Grit Saga.
A Triumph of Fantasy and Suspense in the Hasea Chronicles by Stuart Meczes: A Breathtaking Culmination of Epic Proportions

Seamlessly picking up the threads from its predecessors, this novel is a tour de force that catapults readers into a world of unparalleled imagination, heart-pounding adventure, and profound emotional resonance.

The narrative's relentless pace mirrors the urgency of the Guardians' quest. Meczes masterfully portrays their shattered resolve and individual struggles, creating a symphony of character development that resonates deeply.
Amid the darkness, Alex emerges as a beacon of introspection and growth. The dichotomy of inner turmoil and steadfast determination renders Alex's journey utterly captivating.
"The Veil" is a testament to Meczes' gift for intricate world-building. The palpable atmosphere enriches the storytelling, immersing readers in an experience that is as visually stunning as it is emotionally resonant.
Throughout this extraordinary tale, the looming specter of Hades adds a spine-tingling undercurrent of suspense. The Guardians' valiant struggle against insurmountable odds underscores the novel's central theme of resilience against darkness. "The Veil" is more than a mere fantasy novel—it is an immersive journey that will leave readers spellbound. Stuart Meczes has created a monumental work that defies genre boundaries, blending fantasy, adventure, and profound introspection into a symphony of storytelling. With its richly developed characters, intricate plotlines, and resonant themes, "The Veil" stands as a testament to Meczes' extraordinary talent and secures his place as a luminary in the world of modern fantasy literature.
As author Stuart Meczes rightly mentioned in his note at the start of this book, the story gets deeper and darker as it progresses. The Veil is the third book in the series and follows the events of the second book, leading the reader right into the story. In this book, we get to see different sides of each character and how they have changed over the course of the journey so far.
The author has done a wonderful job in describing Pandemonia and bringing it to life. This is a whole different world that our main characters now have to navigate. The author's writing keeps getting better with each book and so does the suspense. This book will draw the reader in faster than the other two and is definitely unputdownable. I read it at a stretch over a few days, always feeling the need to read just one more page to know what happens next and this ended up in turning the pages until the very end.
In this book, we are rewarded with more insights into some of the Guardians and the bonds that they all share. It stems from shared experiences, love and a sense of belonging. I quite enjoyed the different points of view and even the way the story is told from Scarlet's point of view once the Guardians are forced to split up. The first person point of view helps to understand the characters more and relate to them as they find their way through Pandemonia and all the pandemonium around!
A truly wonderful book in the series, The Veil sets the tone for the rest of the book and I cannot wait to know what happens next. The ending is once again a cliff-hanger leaving the reader wanting for more and thus ensuring that we pick up the next book in the series! Fans of fantasy fiction with supernatural elements, magic and adventure will love this series!
Although it was a very slow starter, and, quite frankly, I wasn't even sure that I would stay with it, "The Veil" has ended up being my favorite book of the series so far. It answers many of the questions raised in the first two novels in the series, whilst raising others.
We get to see more of each team Orion's individual strengths and weaknesses in this book as well. I always enjoy more character development. Of course, there's PLENTY of action and adventure. You know that if Team Orion is involved, trouble is not far behind.
All in all, a very enjoyable read. I recommend for ages 15 and up as there is a bit of vulgar language.
love it so much, I'm always glad how this book are written they had the perfect amount of drama, romance, action and blend so well that it makes you feel part of the story altogether.
In this particular book what I liked most was that the characters developed themselves so much through a lot of experiences and the adding of Death breaker make the book so much more interesting at this point, Dellagio's story was super heartbreaking but I did liked it too, and the story have gone so complex that reminds you sometimes of life itself and how it can be so interesting and crushing at times too.
I can't wait enough to se what will happens next on the conclusion.
I loved this series of books, I just can't put the book down! I love the storyline of normal humans becoming Chosen and lead lives of undercover heros. I think the characters are well developed and personable. I felt like I really got to know Alex, Gabrielle and the others through their journey. I seriously couldn't put this book down. Disclaimer: this book was given at a discount or complimentary in exchange for an honest review.
Dark and tough! Oh my, this books was another step up from the others and I loved it. I really like how situations were put into a "grey" shade and not all black and white, god and evil etc.. So many tough, heartbreaking and nerve-wracking scenes all over. Can't wait to finish the series next year.. Stuart Meczes is an author on my follow up list.
Really getting into this book series and finding myself absorbed in the story. I feel I really know the characters now and seeing the pen pictures that are drawn. Each book of this series gets darker and more blood thirsty. I hope good overcomes evil in the end but time will tell I will be watching for the next episode having be left on the cliff-hanger......
I wasn't a fan. Stuart spent half the book talking about a city and its workings, which had no significant baring on the later chapters, only to end without a major climax.
The whole first third could almost be left out and you wouldn't miss anything in the latter part.
