Grief broke her. Addiction is destroying him. Can two shattered souls survive the wreckage of the truth?
Sadie Quinn is drowning in a sea of trauma, just trying to keep her head above water. She doesn't have room for distractions, let alone love. Then she meets Colt Ryder. He is raw, intense, and fighting his own quiet war against addiction. Despite the heavy baggage between them—including the baby Colt is expecting with another woman—they find a rare, fiercely protective sanctuary in each other's arms.
Me: Randomly scrolling on TikTok and coming across a book wrote because of an MGK song filled with trauma so I had to read it!
I can’t honestly believe Lead You On is a debut novel. I couldn’t put this book down and the whole way through the book I just kept thinking how this one book couldn’t be the end of Sadie and Colts story. This book is full of trauma, addiction, pregnancy loss, child loss, mental health battles, and so much more. But the love between Colt and Sadie is felt so deep on the pages. The friendships between Piper, Jett, Alex, Colt, and Sadie is so real and faithful. I think this book felt so raw because it’s something you can find in real life all over.
Sadie and Colt just couldn’t catch a break, there was another thing standing in between them. Reading them at their lowest points in life and then they finally get there HEA (which we definitely need more of their life together)!
If you’re sensitive to trigger warnings, this is not the book for you. There are A LOT of sad & touchy subjects in this book so please be prepared. This story reminded me a lot of the book “beautiful disaster”. This author definitely describes smut scenes well, a lot of details and relatable words/sentences/phrases used. A lot of great detailing about the emotion the characters were feeling, good descriptions on what things looked/sounded like/felt like.
One negative I will say is that there was A LOT of tragedy happening in this story. It was like one bad thing happened and BAM here’s another thing to ruin your day! It’s not negative towards the book itself but for me personally I take everything to heart and it weighed a lot on me.
As a debut novel, I think this author has a lot of potential and I think a lot of people can find this story very relatable. Especially if you’ve experienced any form of infant loss, d*ug use, self deletion, etc.
Even though this type of story isn’t my cup of tea, it made me cry at various points and that alone always deserves a 5 star rating. To evoke an emotion simply from reading a story is a powerful thing to posse.
This book took my breath away. You don’t only love and KNOW the main characters.. but you know and LOVE the side characters as well. Piper, Alex and Jett. They are just as important as Sadie and Colt!
This book took me by a whirlwind. The trauma the angst the real and raw truths behind addiction and trauma. I loved this book with every fiber of my soul. I felt for every character. I could relate to Sadie and colt. I felt like I was apart of the friend group while reading it. Like I was there. I laughed, I kicked my feet and giggled, I swooned and I cried my eyes out . This is such a masterpiece!!!!!!!! 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
I FINISHED Lead You On, and oh my god, I loved it SO much! ❤️🥹 The MGK references. The music references. UGH. Everything about this book!
This story hit a little closer to home for me than I expected. While my own relationship wasn't nearly as toxic, I could relate to parts of it. I went into my relationship knowing he was an active user, but I made it clear that I would never allow myself to be made less important than that again. Granted he was also never aggressive during his using, I gave him a year to take his time to quit, and he did. Reading this story reminded me so much of my own relationship and how complicated love can be when you're trying to navigate the hard parts together.
I loved how raw and emotional this story was. It made me feel so many things, and I even laughed a few times! I love when a book can make you feel so connected to the characters that their struggles feel personal, and this one definitely did that for me. The music references made it even more special, too. Music has always been something I connect with, and the MGK references were such a fun little bonus!
I saw MGK on May 16th during the Lost Americana Tour, the second night of the tour, and if I could do it over and over again, I absolutely would. So getting those references throughout the story made me love it even more.
Thank you for writing such a beautiful, raw, emotional story. I loved the characters, the music references, the emotional moments, and even the moments that made me laugh. This is one of those books that sticks with you after you finish it, especially when parts of the story hit close to home. I loved everything about it! ❤️
I really wanted to love this book, but unfortunately, it fell short for me. I do know how much work and courage it takes to publish a debut novel, and I respect the author for putting her work out there. That said, I still struggled with the execution of this story.
There were SO many heavy topics packed into this book, from addiction and sexual assault to pregnancy loss and infant loss, that it eventually felt more like shock value than meaningful storytelling. One tragedy after another left very little room to process anything, and I found myself more exhausted than emotionally invested.
The character development was another major issue for me. I never felt like I truly got to know Sadie beyond her trauma, drug use, and sexual relationships. The romance felt rushed, the smut lacked buildup, and many of the characters’ decisions felt difficult to believe.
The ending only reinforced these issues. After everything the characters went through, we’re suddenly given a HEA without getting to see the growth and healing that would make it feel earned. Colt’s recovery and transformation into a counselor, felt like a missed opportunity for meaningful character development. It also felt like Sadie’s own character development was left to the side. She gave up so much!
This story had potential but I needed more depth, better pacing, and stronger character development.

I found out about this book on TikTok, and as a big MGK girlie, I had to find out what it was all about. I dove in and was instantly hooked!
I absolutely LOVE Colt. I had my moments with Sadie, but I actually appreciate that the author wrote her as a flawed character. So many books these days have a morally gray MMC and a seemingly perfect FMC, but that’s definitely not the case with this book. Both characters have their flaws, and I loved that!
The one thing that confused me was the timeline and Cami’s age. She’s described as being three months old when she’s first mentioned, but then the book jumps forward a year, and she’s speaking way more advanced than I would expect a new toddler to speak. 😂 I’m probably the only one who overanalyzed this, and I’m pretty sure I just didn’t math the math right!
Regardless, I still think this book was AMAZING, and I would absolutely recommend it to any book girlie!

Wow, this book! I felt every single emotion while reading it. The heartbreak, love, frustration, hope, and everything in between!
What stood out to me most was just how relatable and REAL these characters felt. They weren’t perfect, they made mistakes, and their struggles felt so incredibly human.
Addiction is such a heartbreaking and complicated thing, not only for the person struggling but also for everyone who loves them. This book truly shows just how messy, painful, and devastating that reality can be. Sometimes love alone just isn’t enough.
There were moments I wanted to hug these characters and others where I wanted to shake some sense into them!
Samantha Schneider wrote such a raw, emotional, and beautifully heartbreaking story. I love books that aren’t afraid to tackle real-life struggles, and this one did exactly that!
This book NEEDS to be made into a movie. The raw emotions, heartbreak and struggles that these characters go thru had me on edge the entire 2 days it took me to read thru. I couldn’t put my kindle down, I would have ripped thru the whole thing in one sitting if I didn’t have kids and responsibilities to make me take some time in between reading 🤣 Anyone who’s ever been thru addiction themselves or loved an addict, knows the tumultuous life that comes along with it - and I hope that they have also known what that other side looks like as well because it is so bittersweet. As someone who’s been thru it all, and has also been saved more than once by MGK’s music - I cannot recommend this book enough! Can’t wait for the next one!
Did i read this book because i saw a tik tok that it was written because of an MGK song, yes. Was this story all about trauma. Yes. It was very well written.... and put you right in the middle of avoidance, and bad choices, survival of life in your 20s. The FMC i felt was over looked in the growth department and rushed at the end because she needed therapy to work thru her own issues and trauma.. even tho she was in therapy in the book. She was just as self destructive and damanged. The lack luster growth on her part at the end was rushed.... I felt it could have been slowed down a little bit with more in depth detail. But the love and struggle was there and I ate this book up in a day in a half. A great time.
Speechless… I bought this book on a whim once @Sam Schneider || Author 📚 came across my fyp. I heard @mgk and was sold. What I didn’t know is how much her story and life had in common with my past. I have lost almost all of my friends from highschool to addictions or tragedies. MGK’s music has helped heal me over the years and pushed me through the grief and guilt. This book had me hooked with the opening pages. So beautifully twisted, broken and bittersweet. One of the most gut wrenching and cathartic books I’ve read. Thank you so much for this breathtaking read. Please don’t ever stop writing. You’re inspiring, being your debut novel you killed it. 🖤
I was so excited to read a book based off of an mgk song. I mean come on, hes my fav musician. This book was chaos. And not the good kind. I was so close to dnf-ing multiple times. How did he get her number? That was never discussed. Didn't know she had a brother until the baby. Sadie was toxic af. She went in knowing Colt was/is an addict and still drank and did drugs around him. Her drug abuse was just as bad but she kicked him to the curb so he could get help and not help herself. Plus she was actively using drugs while watching a baby. And she cheated and cheated while he did 1 thing. Such a hypocrite.
I really did enjoy this book. I think it was really well written, pulled me in quickly and kept me wanting more until it was over. The only reason I didn’t give it a full 5 is because personally I felt like some parts jumped from one scene to another very quickly and the relationships jumped quick too. I don’t necessarily love or want a slow burn by any means but I just felt like there wasn’t enough “meat and potatoes” included to back up their quickly developing relationship even though I felt the love there. I would have just liked to see more.
Very much enjoyed this book! First heard about it though tik Tok and being a huge MGK fan had to give it a go. Man I am so happy I did. In the end credits the author states this was inspired by her own personal story and wow! When something is so personal a beautiful story comes from It. Please keep writing and I look Forward to reading future endeavors.
This book was amazing written. There’s, love heart break, real life situations people deal with every day and the author portrays it in a way you actually feel it. Well done🤩
such an amazing read. My heart has felt allll of the emotions reading this book as someone who’s parents are addicts and going thru the motions of forgiving, I cannot thank Samantha enough for this. 100000/10.
This book kept me up all night since I couldn’t put it down. It’s so emotional and captivating. You get sucked into the characters stories and feel everything they do. Such an amazing read!
I couldn’t put it down! I read the book because of the MGK connection, but the author did a great job at pulling you right into this crazy, beautiful world! I can’t wait to see what Sam writes next!
I fell in love with this book could put it down. The characters, the storyline all of it. What are the best books I’ve read in a while highly recommend.
