They gave him the lowest magical rating possible. Then they gave him six students no one else could teach.
Rian Vale has spent his career proving that magical power and magical talent aren’t the same thing.
Grimoire Academy disagrees.
On his first day as a professor, the academy’s legendary testing system gives Rian a single humiliating
ZERO.
His new department isn’t much better.
Six adult students. Six supposed failures. Six careers already written off by an institution convinced its tests cannot be wrong.
Rian sees something else.
A healer whose magic hurts instead of heals. An enchanter whose creations break under pressure. A summoner whose creatures refuse to obey. Powerful students repeatedly failing methods that were never designed for them.
Rian has six weeks to prove they belong at Grimoire.
But the deeper he digs into their failures, the more he discovers that the academy’s definition of zero may be hiding something far older—and far more deliberate—than anyone realizes.
And somewhere at the edge of Rian’s vision, a mysterious ability is beginning to awaken.
MENTOR.
Teaching six rejected students was supposed to be a temporary assignment.
It may be the first step toward rewriting the rules of magic itself.
PROFESSOR ZERO is an adult progression fantasy featuring magical academia, unconventional power growth, forgotten magical systems, institutional secrets, capable adult characters, romance, and a professor who would rather understand why something failed than accept that it did.
I made it 12% (the book does not have page numbers) through this book before giving up on it. The writing was just bland, having a mechanical (not saying AI here) feel to it. It felt like it was written by someone with technical writing skill, but has no sense of how characters interact or personalities flow.
