3.5 - "I've known you since we were six years old and I've loved you for as long as I can remember." Stars.

I think you need to be in a certain mood to read and enjoy Chasing Cassidy, and in the main I really enjoyed it, but due to the subject matter it deals with, is very heavy on the angst and drama, if that’s not your thing then this is probably not the book for you.

”My instincts are always to run now.”

It’s safe to say that Cassidy hasn’t had the greatest start in life, having suffered years of physical abuse by her alcoholic father her one light in the darkest of times has been Zach Stafford. Zach knows what she went through as a child, he made it his mission to put a stop to it, and even now, after she leaves him at the altar, loves her unreservedly.

My happiness begins and ends with her.

As you would expect Cassidy now older, and now living her own life away from her father’s poisonous influence has more than a few personal issues that she is dealing with (you get to experience a lot of what she went through with flashback paragraphs throughout the book told from her and Zach’s POVs). Low self-esteem and lacking confidence, are but the tip of the iceberg. And after running out of her Wedding to Zach, and their subsequent reconnection in Hawaii, you are given the full story from both sides.

A few secrets are revealed as the book progresses, as well as a lot of self-recrimination, anger, acceptance, facing up to the past, dealing with the consequences of your actions, and the rebuilding of trust as the foundation of a strong and healthy relationship, and not forgetting an extremely large amount of crying from all parties, so much so that I almost became immune to it towards the end.

”To forgive is to love.”

This wasn’t an easy book to read by any means, but if you can pull yourself through the rollercoaster of feelings and emotions that you and the characters ultimately go on, you do come out the other side the better for it… I also found lots of wine and large bars of chocolate helped greatly too!

Zachary Stafford is one hot and swoon-worthy male, and Cassidy Pope is a scared and wounded young woman. She's branded unlovable by her abusive parent. Unfortunately, she believes the monster. So, on her wedding day she runs. But, what she doesn't count on happening is Zack promising to show her just how lovable she is. This was one moving and passionate love story! I loved it, and I wouldn't hesitate to read another D. Kelly book. She has a way with her writing that just makes the reader embrace her characters and believe in their story. This was one emotional journey between Zack and Cassidy that was tender and sweet. I got lost in their beautiful story.

Chasing Cassidy is an emotional book dealing with some very serious and painful issues. The prologue starts the story off with a bang and I couldn't help but want to find out more about Zach and Cassidy. At its heart, this is a story about family, love, acceptance, and forgiveness. Zach is incredibly sweet, loyal, and romantic. He sets the bar for book boyfriends at an almost impossible level. There were times I thought he was actually too sweet. Yes, he really was that perfect. Cassidy's evolution through this book was certainly difficult at times, but it only made the journey that much more touching and emotional. Even though there were times my heart hurt in this book, the ending and epilogue more than made up for it. The secondary characters were also amazing and added some much needed levity during the heavier moments in the book. I'm excited that Rylee is getting her own story and I can't wait to see what happens between her, Nick, and Pete.

Wow, this was an emotionally beautiful book that dealt with insecurities that may affect many of us every day. But, it also proved that when we have someone on our side assuring us otherwise, maybe one day we will believe them and put those insecurities aside.

As I read the prologue, it had me in tears, wanting to be able to grab Cassidy and hug her with all my might and let her know that everything would be alright. Due to her childhood, Cassidy has had a negative view of herself, always reminding herself that everyone who loves her is better off without her. Little does she know that, because of her childhood, she’s made more lovable than she will ever know.

The very first time Zack laid eyes on Cassidy, he knew he was going to show her what being loved felt like, because one thing was for sure, she would never get that from her parents. As Zack and Cassidy grew up together he made sure to protect her at all times, but one night would ultimately change everything, and from then on, Cassidy never had to fear for her life again.

As I read this book I thought to myself how devastating it was for Cassidy to feel the way she did and even though those around her made sure to show her how much they loved her, she would have to love herself first to be able to break free of those feelings.

Zack was such an unbelievably beautiful, kind, loving and patient man. He did everything in his power to show Cassidy how much he loved her and how, no matter what she did or did not have, he would continue to love her.

There are many of us that may have suffered through it, or may still be battling it, but always remember that those close to you love you dearly and unconditionally. It may be hard to believe it but never forget that, because of the love they have for you, they will keep fighting to remind you daily. ~ Kara, 4.5 stars

*** I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***

Chasing Cassidy by D. Kelly was a heartwarming and heartbreaking read, about first love, true love, soul mates, trust, hope, friendship and coping with your past. It also deals with the sensitive subject of physical, mental and emotional abuse.

“Faith makes all thing possible”

What I loved about this book was the support and love that Zachary gave to Cassidy, which started at such a young age. He is just perfect; he’s sweet, romantic, loyal and so protective of Cassidy. He knows her; he sees her fears, and he loves her it's that simple. Zach understands her better than she understands herself at times. All he wants to do is help her fight her demons and make her see they are meant to be together.

“I need hi in my life more that I need oxygen to breathe. Every part of him is intricately woven into my soul”

“You own my heart and soul. I’m your, too forever”

The story flicks between the past and the present, and I like that it is a great way to see how Cassidy and Zach grew from friends to lovers. How he became her whole world, and she became his. But it also makes you see where Cassidy fears and demons come from, and once I saw I could understand her. Cassidy has a good heart and with all that she has been through. The way she was treated by some was shocking and I will say she is a lot more forgiving than I would have been.

With Chasing Cassidy D.Kelly has written a book that will make you swoon, laugh, get emotional, and want to punch a few people. I loved the way it ended perfectly for Cassidy and Zach.

“Love finds us, we don’t find it, and no one can stop what’s meant to be”

I’m so looking for Rylee’s story I loved her, and the sneak preview that D. Kelly gave at the end of the book left me with the certainty that her story is going to be in an interesting read in more way that one. There is a lot more to Zack’s sister than meets the eye. Oh wow! That girl has got some secrets. FYI #TeamPete

description

What would you do if you were left at the altar?

Zachary Stafford does what a man truly in love does, in his opinion. He runs after Cassidy Pope, the love of his life. Friends since they were young children, their love grew only deeper upon a foundation of trust, support and family. That doesn’t mean that everything is perfect, far from it. Despite the closeness between them, and his family, there are cracks just waiting to widen with doubt and insecurity.

“I’ve just made the biggest mistake of my life.”

Zach knows his love and, while disappointed, he was not surprised at what happened. He quickly gathers the facts and “…operation true love is in full swing.”

I LOVED this story. Zach, well… Here is someone who, for the most part, listens with his heart and his head. I don’t know if I’ve ever heard of someone who was left at the altar do what he did. He put himself in Cassidy’s shoes and instead of crucifying her for what she did to him he forgave her for what she did to them. He knew everything about her and realized instantly things were complicated. He didn’t let her off the hook though but even then he gave her every opportunity and support he could.

“Only you can make me fall apart, Zach. Only you will ever have my heart.”

A new use for Post-its and a deeper appreciation for real (never fake) drama. Love and family at its best!

Chasing Cassidy by D. Kelly is an emotional and heartbreaking story. Full of angst, emotions and some very hard subjects, this book will definitely stay with you.

Cassidy Pope’s life has not been an easy one. She spends the majority of the time as child both verbally and physically abused by someone that should have loved and protected her. This left huge scars and insecurities for Cassidy. She doubts herself and her self-esteem is practically nil.

Cassidy broke my heart. She was pushed down and hurt so many times; she truly believed she was unlovable and unworthy. Even as Zach loved her, she doubted herself. I loved Zach. He was patient, sweet, caring and loving. He was the strength Cassidy needed.

Cassidy’s one light in her life has always been Zach. They have known each other since they were kids. Zach is aware of what Cassidy endures and always stands by her. As adults, they are set to be married, but Cassidy’s insecurities get the best of her and she runs.

Zach is left heartbroken and angry. He has always loved Cassidy and he is determined to show her she is deserving of so much more. Regardless of what others and especially Cassidy believe. Their journey was heartbreaking and emotional, but pulls you in right from the start.

I loved the banter between Zach, Cassidy and Rylee (Zach’s sister) and their friends. This book will touch you in so many ways. The subject matter is hard to read at times, but this was Cassidy and Zach’s journey. It was full of angst and heartbreaking, but also hopeful. It is a story of love, hurt, and hope. This author is quickly becoming a must read author for me.

Happy reading!

Zachary Stafford 1st saw Cassidy Pope when they were both 6 yrs old. Her father was beating her with a belt. From that point on he watched and tried to protect her as best he could.

Cassidy Pope has a crappy home life to say the least. An abusive dad a non functioning mom. Her saving grace, is Zach and his twin sister Rylee. They become her best friends, they welcome her into her family as do their parents. As they grow up the grow closer and for Zach and Cassidy that turns into love. But what happens when you have been beaten and told that love doesn't exist.

On her wedding day, pressure from his mom, her life, everything boils over and she runs. Zach who has chased after her every time she has run before chases her again but this time he is adamant he will make her see they are it for each other and she can love and is loved fully, madly, deeply.

As he works to prove her worth, she works to believe she is worthy.

I really liked this book, its a 4.5 star rating for me, just missing my 5 star. This is a sweet romance with a little darkness with in. The secondary characters are built and structured as great as the primaries.

Highly recommend this.

ARC Review:

Chasing Cassidy by D. Kelly

Chasing Cassidy starts out with tackling a subject matter that is very raw and heartbreaking. It will absolutely break your heart. However, there is always hope for a brighter future. And D. Kelly does a wonderful job of showing that ray of Hope throughout this book.

Cassidy is a young woman trying to find her way in the world and face not only her past but the dream future she always wanted, even though her future mother-n-law, Priscilla, is completely against her upcoming marriage. Priscilla doesn't view Cassidy as someone who meets the standards she expects for her son.

Cassidy and Zach, along with his sister Rylee, have been best friends since they were 6 years old. Their love and friendship is where she has found her strength for so many years. But the question is, will it be enough for her to face the future ?

Chasing Cassidy is a fast paced fun read that will capture your heart.

It started out so good but I just couldn´t really connect to the characters, althought they were likeable. Then I started skipping pages and that´s why I only gave it 2 stars. Just wasn´t enough to keep me reading closely.

A heart wrenching emotive read that will literally pull at your heart strings. Chasing Cassidy is a love story first and foremost, however, some of the subject matter in this book deals with child abuse verbally, mentally and physically, however, the author has covered this sympathetically and the scenes are written beautifully.

Cassidy spent her childhood believing she was unworthy of love. Forming a strong and steadfast friendship with the Stafford twins, Zack and Rylee is the only good thing in her life. Although throughout the years she has learnt to put a brave face on things she has become a woman filled with insecurities and demons from her past that need to finally be put to rest in order for her to move forward and get the happily ever after she deserves.

Zack has loved Cassidy since he was 8 years old. First seeing Cassidy when he was 6 years old being beaten by her father. On what should have been the happiest day of their lives, their wedding day Zack is left devastated when Cassidy’s insecurities get the better of her and she does the only thing she knows how to do well and runs. Zack makes it his mission to slay Cassidy’s demons once and for all firmly severing all ties to her past and showing her why she is loved by him and everyone around her, that she is worthy of love and finally fulfilling his promise.

“My life isn’t complete without you in it. I know love is real because of you. I am loved because of you, and most importantly I can love because of you.”

This is the first book that I have read by this author but will certainly not be the last. The story was well written, flowed effortlessly and I felt the main characters and secondary characters had depth and were relatable. The banter between Rylee, Cassidy and Zack was witty, funny and real. I could instantly connect to them and felt that I was firmly strapped into my seat on the roller coaster of emotions as I was there for all the ups and downs along their journey.

Looking forward to Rylee’s book, of which a snippet is enclosed at the end of the book.

Would definitely recommend, however it may be advisable to have tissues, wine and chocolate at the ready for when starting Cassidy and Zacks story…you may need them 

4 ½ out of 5 stars

When a book starts with the bride leaving the groom at the altar you can't imagine it will have a good outcome…

Well, Ms Kelly did an amazing job of pulling me into this love story that started when the couple was only 6 years old. Can you imagine knowing your significant other for that much of your life? I would love that! Zack and Cassidy know all about each other and all about what their pasts include and how that affects not only the present but the future.

Most men would give up if they were left at the altar, but Zack is determined to win Cassidy back and prove to her that she’s the perfect girl for him and that it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks because they know each other and already have the perfect relationship.

Because of Cassidy’s tragic history, Zack has to handle her with care and prove to her that she’s deserving of his love and that his family truly loves her, too. I love this quote from early in the book when he’s showing her just how much she means to him:

“There’s never been a girl whose hands fit mine like a glove as if they are an extension of my own, until you. There’s never been a pair of eyes that see into my soul and set my world right again, until yours. There’s never been a set of lips that have locked onto mine like the keys of a lost kingdom until yours touched mine. Every part of you completes every single part of me.”

The supporting characters in this book really stole pieces of my heart, too. Zack’s dad for instance was an amazing man who shared with the couple more than he ever had before in hopes of righting some of the wrongs done to Cassidy by his wife, Zack’s mom.

I don’t want to give away the story, but just know that Zack climbed a lot of rungs on my book boyfriend ladder and he’s up there towards the top. He’s so perfect: funny, charming, sexy, and romantic. I hope that many, many others will enjoy this book and fall in love with Cassidy and Zack like I did...and I can’t wait to read the next book about Zack’s twin sister, Rylee!!!

Reviewing on behalf of Relentless book chics ramblings and reviews

Another heart warming, tissues required story by Dee Kelly.

I was a little nervous about reading this as I loved the Acceptance series so much and I didn’t want to compare this story to it. I didn’t need to worry though as the characters in this are the type that you can’t help falling in love with and the way they are developed leaves you in no doubt that they are unique.

Cassidy is so sweet but she had such a traumatic childhood that she feels she is unable to be loved. She was physically and verbally abused by her father from the age of 6 so her home life was miserable but her saving Grace was her best friends, the Stafford twins, Zack and Rylee.
From the moment Zack saw Cassidy he made a vow to befriend her. Over the years, that friendship turned to love and after 12 years, it was finally the day she would become his wife.

Cassidy has lots of insecurities because of the horrendous things she’s had to listen to from her father over the years and she doesn’t feel worthy of Zack so on her wedding day, which is supposed to be the happiest day of her life, she does what she thinks is best for him, she runs.
Zack is heart –broken, not just because she ran but also for the reason she ran which made him angry. He follows Cassidy to prove to her that their love is worth fighting for and she is the best person on earth for him and he loves her with all his heart.

With some help from their friends and family, Zack sets out to show Cassidy how much he loves her and how worthy she is to be part of his life. Cassidy has a few surprises of her own and there are also a few comical moments with his sister Rylee involving some of Zack’s friends which we’ll read about in a future book.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves a fairytale romance and enjoys a story that touches your heart.

4.5 stars!

First off, any book involving twins will win my heart. Twins are awesome. *wink wink*

Cassidy has spent most of her life emotionally, physically, and mentally abused by her father. The day her family moves into their new home is when everything turns upside down. But fortunately, Zack is there to befriend Cassidy, love Cassidy, and show her that everything her father said and did wasn't true.

On the day of Cassidy and Zack's wedding, the negative thoughts win and Cassidy runs. She runs because she loves Zack and she believes letting him go is the best thing for him. Landing in Hawaii, Cassidy thinks she'll be spending two weeks alone, crying over what she did. Little does she know Zack is chasing after her. He loves her 1000% and will never let her go.

I honestly wish there were more Zack's out there in the world. He was so romantic (a little too romantic for me so that explains the missing half star but he's everything Cassidy needs so I can't really complain can I????) and understood Cassidy in a way that no one-not even herself-could. Everything he planed after landing in Hawaii was PERFECT.

Also, Rylee, Zack's twin sister, is amazing. You get a glimpse into what her story will be and I honestly can not wait for it!

What a sweet read! The whole time I wanted Zack for myself! He was amazing and so caring, even though Cassidy left him at the alter he still loved her and made sure she knew that. This was one of the best, most heartbreaking books I've read. The abuse Cassidy suffered was horrible and I'm so glad she was able to get past it. I really need Ry's book though. I honestly couldn't decide between Pete and Nick so I'm so glad, from the sneak peek, it's headed in the direction I think.

I have read all of D Kelly's prior books and I knew this book would not disappoint. Actually, I think it was better than the first series I read by D Kelly. Cassidy has such a hard upbringing but had great friends and neighbors who accepted her.
This book definitely had some surprises and it was an emotional roller coaster. I hope there will be another one in the works.

If you have read the Acceptance Series by Dee Kelly, you KNOW that she does not disappoint. From the moment I got the first sneak peak of Chasing Cassidy I was absolutely excited. And once again, Dee does NOT disappoint!

Cassidy Pope has a complicated past. At the age of 6, young Cassidys father began to verbally and physically abuse her. Cassidy was shown no love and affection be either parent. Being told she is unlovable, and that love does not exist. After witnessing Cassidys first beating, Cassidys neighbor, Zachary Stafford, made it his mission to befriend her. The best part of her life is her friendship with Zachary and his twin sister, Rylee. As years pass, Cassidy and the Stafford twins become best friends. And Cassidy not only gives Zack her friendship. but her love as well. Although Cassidy tries to play strong, the years of abuse have turned Cassidy into a woman filled with insecurities who doesn’t believe she deserves love.

"A bride shouldn't be sad on her wedding day."

But on the day of their wedding, Cassidys insecurities are heightened. Looking at herself in the mirror, she sees beauty, but her eyes, they are sad. 300 guests waiting at the most lavish and exquisite wedding, a huge wedding Cassidy didn't want. She believes he deserves better, someone who can live up to his mothers expectations, someone to thrive being a part of his social circle, someone who fits into the high-status life life which accompanies being a Stafford, not a measly Kindergarten teacher. Thanks to Zacks mother, Priscilla Stafford, Cassidy is constantly reminded that this is not her, she is not good enough for Zack. And minutes before the wedding, Cassidy does what she does best, runs!

Zachary Stafford is rich and gorgeous, and he could have any women he wanted. But he is head over heels in love with Cassidy. After years of building up Cassidys confidence and getting her to finally agree to marry him, the day is finally here. Today he is marrying Cassidy and today is going to be the happiest day of their lives. Although he knows Cassidy is not his mothers biggest fan, he does not know the extent as to which Priscilla is willing to go to in order to call off this wedding. But moments before they are due to walk down the aisle, Zack is out the door and chasing after Cassidy!

"Love is love. It comes without strings, without obligation, without judgement, without fear. It is unconditional and all-consuming."

When Cassidy hops on the Staffords private jet, she heads for their what should have been Honeymoon Destination. Little does she know, Zack is only a few hours behind her, with a few tricks up his sleeve too help convince her, that she is everything he wants and needs in his life, that she is the girl for him. Once Cassidy has landed, there have been a change of plans, and she is moved from the hotel to this extravagant and beautiful home. Here she meets Pete, Zacks private security. Nosey and curious, but on the other hand, well informed, Pete gets Cassidy to slowly unravel her side of why shes here (although he really knows.)

This just in, " Zachary Stafford, heir to the Stafford Investments fortune, has just been left at the altar by his fiancee Cassidy Pope."

When Zack arrives, and gets briefed on Cassidys whereabouts and safety, Zack slowly slides into the house in the middle of the night. The next morning the two of them finally come face-to-face. Zack is determined to show his poor broken girl just how worthy she is of his love,to slay the dragons of her past, to let go of her perceived notions of how his life is supposed to be.

"For better of for worse, in sickness and in health, mine to cherish, body and soul, for the rest of my life. "

Over the next two weeks together, he is going to give her a crash course in undeniable love....And OMG! I have to say...Zachary Stafford is a head over heels romantic. I mean...BOOK BOYFRIEND OF THE YEAR!!!!!! He recreates different milestones in their relationship and it is just truly AH-MAZING ! Every man should do these things for his lover. The love between Cassidy and Zack are undeniable. It is very clear that the two of them love each other more then anything else in the world. Cassidys past is very sad, but the way Zack loves her and tries to lift her up with positive affirmations is just another reason he is my book boyfriend of the year. It takes a good man to love a broken girl, to be able to lift her up and want to make her feel like hes good enough for her.

Surprise. Surprise. Zachary and Cassidy are reunited with a few demons of their past. Stories unfold and secrets are brought to the surface. When all is thrown out in the open, will Cassidy run away or bring her back into Zacks arms where she belongs?

Dee...the secondary characters, Nick, Pete, and Rylee are so much fun!!!! Each one of them plays an important role in both Cassidys and Zacks life. The drama that has unfolded between this "love triangle" has got me dying to get my hands on Sharing Rylee.

Chasing Cassidy was definitely different than Dees Acceptance Series....but just as GREAT! Dee has really dug into emotions and wasn't afraid to put it all out in the open. I felt every emotion Cassidy and Zack were feeling. I wanted to cry, I wanted to throw my phone, and I wanted to reach in and give Cassidy a big hug!

“My life isn’t complete without you in it. I know love is real because of you. I am loved because of you, and most importantly I can love because of you.”
Could there be a better line????
D Kelly brought to life a couple that while they had known each other from being little more than toddlers now all grown up they embodied the whole spirit and intensity of what being loved really means.
Cassidy had a childhood that was upsetting to read, she had endured more than should ever be permitted as she grew up, at the hands of her father, the one man a little girl should always be able to rely upon to protect them, she had suffered not just verbally but physically also.
The fact that her love for her father hadn’t been able to stop what he had done, left her with such deep seated feelings that she was unlovable, that it was a burden that she continued to carry.
His spite and cruelty were almost as if he had infiltrated her soul and infected her with his hate, painfully carving out a niche in her heart and refusing to allow her to see the beauty that she brought to those around her.
While she was growing up she had one constant in her life other than the misery that her family brought and that was the fact that she had two of the best friends a kid could ever dream of – Zack and Rylee Stafford.
Their friendship was formed in what was the bosom of their formative years but the love they developed grew gently over time, over more than a decade and that journey had been far from easy.
But could Zack show this broken little girl that the woman she had become is one that he wants to spend the rest of his life with and would she believe him?
Cassidy’s father’s verbal torrents were what have damaged her more than anything but Zack has been the epitome of patient in trying to instil in her that nothing that he said was true and that to him, she is more than he could have ever dreamed of, her love for him is more than he could ever want and it is her that makes his heart beat each morning … this man could melt butter ladies he is so smooth, so charming, so down right beautiful I wanted to dip right into the page and steal him away for myself!
Cassidy couldn’t quite let go of the niggling monster that kept chipping away at her soul, that unwitting little doubt that she wasn’t what Zack need, that she wasn’t enough for him and that the best thing she could do for him would be to set him free. Really woman, I could have butt kicked her myself at this point… he would have hung stars for her if she asked him too!
So when the day came for Zack to finally get his girl, the day that should have been the happiest day of her life, she did the unthinkable and took off. I was aghast, where did she think he would not look for her – he would drag himself through heaven and hell to get her back and nobody was going to get in his was, not even Cassidy.
I loved to see the fight in his heart, he was hurt, unbelievably so but beyond that, he was downright mad. He was furious that she had taken off, but in a way he understood why, he didn’t like it – in fact it only compounded his anger but he knew what he had to do to make it right, Cassidy was his and what they had was all that mattered. He would make her see that the love they shared was a love that could not be denied, and he would succeed or he’d die trying!
Heading to Hawaii on the trail of his runaway bride, Zack pulls out all the stops and has the support of everyone around him, he is not coming back without her that is for sure.
The story was beautifully written and the characters were completely charming.
Ryan was just glorious, he made my world a little brighter just in the time it took to read the book.
I loved Zack’s twin sister Rylee and while we got a tiny glimpse into what perhaps the next story may hold with her at its core, I must say I would have loved to have spent a little longer with Cassidy and Ryan, actually I can feel a re-read coming on!

✯✯5 Chasing Cassidy Stars!!✯✯

Yes! D.Kelly is back with a new book and new characters and wow. I have missed reading a book by her. This book was written beautifully. Between the laughing and crying I finished this before I knew it. Then, I got upset because I finished it.

Cassidy Pope moved into her grandmother house after she passed away. Once they moved in her world changes and not for the better. Her father started drinking and became both physically and mentally abusing her. The only thing that makes living there good is her 2 best friends. Zachary and Rylee. Cassidy spends all her time at their house.

Zack knew the minute he saw Cassidy dad beating her in the back of their car that he needed to protect her. The next day he sent his sister to go see if Cassidy could come out and play was the best thing he ever did. They became best friends and he fell in love with her.

Cassidy grew up with Zack and Rylee. Both of their families were rich. Zack, Rylee and Cassidy all went to a great school. That was the only thing her parents did for her. They drank away the rest of it. Even though she grew up with the Stafford family she never felt like she belonged with that type of surroundings.

Zack and Cassidy had been together and in love. Zack did his best to show Cassidy how much he loves her and only her. That without her his life wouldn't be the same. He finally got her to agree to marry him and that's when things took a turn.

Cassidy already felt like she didn't belong in his world. His mother spent every waking moment to remind Cassidy she's not good enough to be a Stafford. On their wedding day Cassidy looks in the mirror and all she hears is everything Zack mom has been saying to her and everything her dad has said. He's always told her she was unlovable and love didn't exist. She's looking in the mirror and Cassidy can't take it. Cassidy does the one thing she's good at. She runs.

Zack kinda knew she'd run. He'd made her a promise to always catch her when she ran. That's what he does. He catches her and recreates a bunch of their biggest and most important events in their lives. He wants to prove to Cassidy one last time that they belong together and he is pulling out all the stops!!

I suggest you start this on a day that you have nothing to do. Because, you will not want to put it down until you finish it. Zack and Cassidy had such a beautiful friendship and relationship that I was jealous. I love how the author gave us important parts of their past and at the perfect time. The way she did it was beautiful. She never left me thinking I missed something. There were parts that were hard to read and would end with me tearing up.

Cassidy had been through an extremely hard hard life. If she didn't have Zack and Rylee I don't think she'd of survived. Even with everything she went through she's still extremely strong and is beautiful inside as she is on the outside. Zack is my new top book boyfriend. If you read The Acceptance Series then you know Daniel is one of my favorites. Well, move over Daniel because here comes Zachary Stafford and that man was on a mission. He may of been rich and the richest hottest single billionaire around. But,he only had eyes on Cassidy. Man he is the best thing ever!!! Hahaha D.Kelly needs to stop giving me guys I'll never find in the real world. Not cool!! This is seriously a read now type of book! You'll fall in love Zack's twin sister Rylee and even his parents. Pete and Nick are also big part of this book. They're all important and I can't wait to see them in Rylee book. Because, she needs a happily ever after.

4 Star Review by Jen Skewes

I loved this book. It is one of those books that just makes you feel good. It is a beautiful love story between two people who have known each other since they were six years old. There wasn't a lot of drama or angst but this story did not need it. It was heartbreaking at times to see all that Cassidy went through but at the same time it will warm your heart because Zachary Stafford is one amazing man. Chasing Cassidy is the beautiful story of a girl who feels so unworthy of love that she decides to run and the guy who will do everything to prove just how worthy and loved she really is.

Cassidy and Zach have been best frieds since they met at the young age of six. They began dating and fell in love when they were in high school. But Zach always knew from the time he was a little boy that he would marry Cassidy. She is his best friend, his lover and his world. He would do anything for her and to protect her.

Cassidy is about to marry the man of her dreams. The man that she loves with all her heart and the man who is also her best friend. Just before they are about to say “I Do” Cassidy runs, leaving Zach at the alter wondering what happened. When Zach finds out the real reason that Cassidy ran, he is not happy, but he will do whatever it takes to get her back. He chases after to her and is on a mission to prove to Cassidy how much he loves her.

Cassidy knows Zach loves her and she loves him. But the issue is that she really needs to believe that she is worthy of all the love that he has for her. She doesn’t believe that she fits in his world. But Zach has a plan. He is going to show her how much she means to him and let me tell you, his plan will make you swoon and just melt your heart. Will Cassidy finally accept that she is enough for Zach and his world?

I really enjoyed this book. I felt for Cassidy so much. What she went through as a child will break your heart. The prologue alone will just grab you from the start. But Cassidy was a fighter and all though she had some insecurity issues she was still a strong woman and I loved her. Zach was every women’s dream. Honestly he couldn’t have been more perfect. He is sweet and sexy and the love he has for Cassidy is so intense that you can just feel it. He loves her something fierce and I loved how he created little moments from their past to show her how much she means to him. I loved his passion and his desire when it came to her. He would give up everything for her and just from his words alone you could feel his love.

Zach’s twin sister is also Cassidy’s best friend and I loved the relationship that they both had with her. This story was Cassidy and Zach’s but we also see her relationship with his family as well. She has known them since she was a little girl and has always felt like a part of their family despite the issues that she had. This is beautiful story about self discovery and true love. This is my first book by this author but it will not be my last. I cannot wait for Rylee’s story and I’m wondering who she will end up with.

LEEANN'S REVIEW
5 STARS

There is a content warning at the beginning of this book & I have to say, you need to read it & decide if you want to continue with the book.

Personally I loved this story. Yes it does touch on situations of child abuse, but once you get past that you see that the story underneath is
about a beautiful lost girl who is going to marry the love of her life.. Or is she?
Cassidy has suffered years of abuse at the hands of her father, but the one saving grace she could always count on was her best friends Rylee & Zach
who are twins & Nick. They made her awful life bearable & gave her light and hope where she thought there was none.

This is a though provoking story about young love and self-discovery. This young woman who, although she has suffered immeasurably throughout her life
is always able to see the good in people. She gives her love freely even though she has been taught to believe she is unlovable. She never holds grudges
and understands that in order to move forward, you need to let go. There are some things she can’t let go of, but Zach, the love of her life is not giving up &
he is not letting her give up either.

Not once during this story did I get frustrated with Cassidy, you could see clearly where she was coming from at all times & there was never any confusion about her
love for her fiancé or his family. She is a truly beautiful soul. I could help but fall in love with Zach! He is 100% devoted to Cassidy & will always put her 1st above everyone else.
He will fight for her & with her and he proves this time and time again. There is nothing he won’t do for her. He is the type of man I want my daughters to fall in love with!!

The author writes with emotion and she has clearly done her research with this book. The serious content is not fluffed up or exaggerated. It is a tough subject to read about
and in this book it was written in a way that at some points was shocking and other times heartbreaking. My heart literally broke for the little girl who was belted up by one parent while
the other one watched on doing nothing. The incident when she was 8 years old had me wanting to climb in to the book & carry her away from it all. And the reasons her father
would abuse her were not understandable at all. I just could imagine a world where I could hurt my own children like that & don’t understand why people do it at all.
Sadly this is common in the world we live in not every abused child has someone or somewhere they can go to seek refuge.

The reason I have given this book a 5 star rating is because the author has done a damn good job of writing a tough story & I can’t imagine it would have been an easy topic to write
about, but she did it & did it exceptionally well. Although at times it was sad & heartbreaking it was also full of joy, hope, romance & sexy. I read it in one sitting & was thoroughly
hooked from beginning to end.
When I got to the end I wanted more, I was not ready for it to end, that to me is the sign of a fantastic book & an exceptionally talented author!

*** Gifted in exchange for an honest review ***

If you love movies like Runaway Bride, then this book will be right up your alley.

We start the story with the Wicked Uber Snobby Mother having chased away our heroine Cassidy just before she is due to walk down the isle - I was begging for her to stand up to this 'Biatch' while reading, but her insecurity got the better of her and she ran... But YAY Zack the Hero is going after her!!!

The story focuses on Zack and Cassidy as they spend time in the house where they were supposed to spend their honeymoon in Hawaii, Zack goes to a lot of trouble to make sure that this will be the last time Cassidy runs, he hopes that he can show her finally that she is worthy of the love he has for her.

When I was at about 48% I felt sometimes Cassidy was being rather dramatic and other times I understood how constant negative enforcement can make a person doubt even the most logical truths... on the one hand she's very lucky to have a Fiancee that loves her beyond measure, and is a billionaire!! But I do actually know how it feels to doubt your worth, when you can't see what it is about yourself that the one who loves you sees. Having felt insecure as a teenager/young adult. I am relating to all the emotional upheaval she is feeling, and that is what most readers want to do when reading a story, you get to live multiple lives when you get lost in a book, I guess that's why I always want to read books that have a HEA ( I am not one to read books that will leave me depressed for weeks!!)

OK onto our Hero...

Zack - oh he's Perfect, a swoonworthy hero who loves his girl!
The 'special moments' he re-enacts to show Cassidy why they should be together forever #RomanceBliss. He is like the old knights of the round table - seriously I thought of him as sir Galahad or Galwain, fighting the dragons and demons of Cassidy's past.

Rylee - Zack's twin and Cassidy's Best friend, she thinks of Cassidy as a sister and can't wait to make it official, so when she runs Rylee is not far behind Zack when she finds where she is, Rylee is determined to help Zack help Cassidy get over her demons.

Cassidy has the worst parents you could imagine, and you cannot blame her for being so ready to run and hide behind the walls she has built since being a kid... As I read this story I couldn't help but wonder how on earth Zack and Rylee's mum had turned into such an Uber Biatch, but we find out slowly as the story develops.

BUT love conquers all... and we have my much needed HEA by the end of the book.

Thank you Ms Kelly for allowing me to review the book, as usual you have created a book with characters that feel real and relatable. I have enjoyed reading Cassidy's journey of discovering that Love can conquer all.

I am very curious to see what you have in store for Rylee!!!

Here is another great story from the author of The Acceptance series. I enjoyed reading this book so much that I devoured it within a few hours while on vacation. Sweet romance, dark secrets, horrible parents, amazing friends and siblings, all that and more is what you will find inside the pages. Cassidy Pope and Zack Stafford share the kind of love that everyone strives for in their life; the kind of love that can handle anything.

Cassidy is six when her father moves them back to his old home after his mother’s death. There, her nightmare begins. Beaten by her drunken father and neglected by her equally unstable mother, Cassidy’s life is dramatically changed when she meets the Stafford twins, Rylee and Zack. They become her best friends and help her withstand the horror that is her home life.

Cassidy and Zack grow up building a strong friendship that soon turns into love. Their love starts when they are children and carries them to adulthood, when they decide to get married. But although she’s grown knowing love from Zack and Rylee, her demons still haunt her and the cruelty at the hands of her father carry over, causing self-doubt to set root in her mind.

Her insecurities and the constant meddling of a third party cause Cassidy to doubt her worth in Zack’s life and she does what she does best; she runs … on her wedding day. She loves him above everything, but feels she can never fit in his world. Zack is devastated and angry. But he knows Cassidy. He knows this is her way of coping and he’s promised that he will always chase her. Promising to himself that this will be the last time, he sets out to find her and make her realize that they are meant to be together and will never give her up again.

People are hurt by Cassidy’s actions, but this decision turns out to be the best one she could’ve done. This causes them to re-evaluate their life and look into what they really want. Secrets are revealed, leaving only some people intact. Will Cassidy and Zack be strong enough to come out unscathed and reach their HEA?

D. Kelly has created characters that are relatable. Their actions and reactions to situations are so common that you realize there is someone out there you know who would act the same way. Cassidy, Zack, and Rylee are the type of friends you wish you had in your corner. They are caring and loyal.

The writing is fluid and the pace is perfect, allowing you to read with ease and the desire to know what happens at every turn. The love story between Cassidy and Zack is consuming. She is insecure but loves passionately. He is a sweet and intense dirty talker that will melt your heart and your panties.
Chasing Cassidy is the perfect summer read!

I was so excited when I found out D. Kelly had a new book coming out. I read her Acceptance series and fell in love with her writing then. Her characters and her storyline may be different with Chasing Cassidy, but I loved reading this book as much as her other series.

“There’s never been a girl whose hands fit in mine like a glove as if they are an extension of my own, until you. There’s never been a pair of eyes that see into my soul and set my world right again, until yours. There’s never been a set of lips that have locked onto mine like keys of a lost kingdom until yours touched mine. Every part of you completes every single part of me.”

Zachary Stafford knew he was in love with Cassidy Pope when he was just a child. He was always her knight in shining armor trying to protect her from the evils in the world, mainly from her abusive father and neglectful mother.

“…and Zack has always been the one to save me. The one to heal me when no one else even knew I was broken.”

Over the years, Cassidy became a part of the Stafford family, her only refuge from her nightmare of a home. First, she was Zack and Zack’s twin sister, Rylee’s, best friend. Then she became Zack’s girlfriend and then his fiancée. However, she allows her insecurities to overwhelm her on her wedding day and flees. Zack has always chased Cassidy when she ran, and this time is no different. But, this time he has to convince her to trust him and stay. Will she finally be able to let go of her past and grab on to her future and get her HEA?

Even though the book deals with the serious issues of physical abuse and alcoholism, it’s a fairytale of sorts. Zack is the perfect Prince Charming…he’s loving, loyal, and forgiving. I love his plans to woo her and make her his forever. At first, I wasn’t sure how I felt about Cassidy. I felt like she gave up on Zack and herself too easily. However, after getting to know her, especially through flashbacks, I came to love her. And, I discovered she was as loyal and even more forgiving than Zack. There was laughter, tears, and secrets revealed. It’s unbelievable how Kelly got me to love and respect a character, not Cassidy, that I literally HATED at the beginning! That takes talent my fellow readers, and Kelly is full of talent.

I can’t wait for the next book which is about Rylee, and boy is this girl hiding some explosive secrets. Kelly did an awesome job of getting us ready for her story through a side plot that only added to Chasing Cassidy. This was a sweet read, yet some really SEXY love scenes were sprinkled throughout the pages. If you like a romance that is emotional with a little bit of naughtiness, you will love this book!

This book was amazing. It's full of romance, twists, turns and soo much emotion.

Chasing Cassidy launches us into the world and life of Cassidy Pope. We get to see Cassidy as a child and then as an adult. Cassidy's childhood after the age of 6 was positively hellish. It's starts after the death of her grandmother; her father's mother.

After his mother's death, Cassidy's father moves them into his childhood home; I think he hopes this will help him cope with losing his mother. However, moving into this house seems to increase his demons and he finally seems to lose control. Cassidy bears the brunt of he father anger. Cassidy has been verbally abused by her father, but now things take on a whole level. On this particular day he beats her on the driveway with his belt.

Unbeknown to Cassidy or her parents this is witnessed by one of the other children in the neighborhood; Zachary. Upon witnessing such a horrible act Zach decides that he needs to make sure this innocent little is OK, to do this he talks his twin sister Rylee. Zach convinces Rylee to go and ask if this girl can come out to play, neither Zach or Rylee realize just how much of an impact this gesture will have on their lives.

As an adult Cassidy has managed to continuously battle her demons and the impact her father's actions/words had on her. As we reach Cassidy's wedding day her nerves are eating away at her and her insecurities aren't helping. In the lead up to this day there is someone who has been exploiting Cassidy's insecurities and trying to make her doubt if she is worthy of love, this person chooses her wedding day to give one more push and manages to make Cassidy flee. After Cassidy flees the truth comes out as to why she has fled causing a huge rift to open in one family.

Tension is high and Zach heads off to track down the love of his life and show her her true worth. But has too much damage been done already?

This is an amazing read. Ms Kelly has incorporated some amazing twists and turns into this brilliant plot. The story that has been woven has so many layers, so much depth and is incredibly realistic. The emotion flows from the pages and I couldn't help but feel connected to the characters. Each character plays a key part and they interact effortlessly.

Once I started reading Chasing Cassidy I didn't want to put it down until the very end, but at the same time I didn't want the book to end. I have loved each and every page in this amazing story.

Another whooping 5* read.
