Noir scifi? Yes please!

A solid book. A little action, a little intrigue, a little romance. Enjoyable characters and a plot that moved quickly without feeling rushed. I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to fans of noir fiction and crime drama.

"But wait!" you might say. "I thought it was scifi!"

Well, there are spaceships, other worlds, and a radioactive guy that burns when exposed to air. But the scifi bit is pretty light. Setting more than story. So if you're looking for hi-tech hardcore space battles, or robots vs aliens, this isn't the book.

This is a gritty group of repo agents mixed up with the wrong sort of people and trying to do the best they can in a tough spot. The story would be right at home in turn-of-the-century New York, or present day Vegas. The fact that it's set far in the future on spaceships and other planets gives it a fun and unexpected tone, and for me as a scifi fan, made it really enjoyable.

Outstanding
This is a fun space jaunt with hard working blue collar crew. Imaginative and fast paced.
Milky Way Repo is a must read for sci-fi fans.

It was a nice light read. The writing is ok and I never once wanted to stop reading. That said, it had quite a few things that had been done a lot. The layout of the ship sounded a lot like Serenity from Firefly. A sort of steam coming from the ship on landing was very reminiscent of the Millenium Falcon and the plot was kind of weak.

I was not paid for the review and there was no gratuitous sex or overt religion in the story.

What a fun book. I picked this up because Mike is a local author, living in the same Rust Belt town as I do. So I was very interested in this Firefly-esque setting.

Mike's great at world building and plot. This is a dirty, corrupt, industrial galaxy where Ripley or Mal would feel right at home, and there are lots of little, realistic touches that had me saying, "Hey, I know that mobster." It's a refreshing change of pace from the squeaky clean politics you usually see in these type of stories. And he moves the story along, throwing twists and double crosses at you at a pretty good clip.

I wish the main characters had a little more personality and differentiation. It's a little rough going in the beginning until they start to click, but not enough to lose a star.

All in all a great debut and I can't wait to read more!

Not your every day read!

Milky Way Repo is a nice, light but exciting read. With just enough action and even a bit of romance and comedy, I definitely recommend this read to anyone who enjoys a good sci-fi/blue collar space opera.

I gave Milky Way Repo 5 stars because it provided me with a short, albeit adventurous, fun and light hearted escape for a few hours. It is well written, with well rounded characters and a wonderful storyline.

I have to say that Duncan was my absolute favorite character. Officially starting a Duncan fan club!

Loved this blue collar sci-fi!

Great, fun read with just enough twists to keep ratcheting up the tension. The story moved well, and I liked that Michael wove in some interesting technology without bogging down in the details. This tale flew like a well-maintained repo ship! Thanks for the enjoyable read :)

This is one of those books that I knew I had to read based on the title alone, and I'm glad I did. Milky Way Repo is a darned good story, capably balancing action, character, and concept.

In a lot of ways the ensemble cast and blue collar feel reminded me of Firefly, and that's never a bad thing. The banter between characters is tight, snappy, and humorous, and really gives the feeling that there's a lot of history between these individuals without the need to drop huge expository infodumps. Storywise, the reader is treated to a fast-paced adventure where all the plot points click and no detail ends up falling by the wayside. I'm very much looking forward to reading the sequel, Bad Rock Beat Down.

All that said, the manuscript could have benefited from another proofreading pass. There are a number typos in the edition I read (most notably a raft of punctuation errors) which may be distracting to pickier readers like myself.

To be 100% transparent, I read this book quite a while ago and even rated it but seem to have forgotten its review. BUT it left a lasting impression... so much so I am still looking forward to the next in the series.

I remember...

This is a pretty solid, well rounded read. There is some action, there is romance and a whole lot of fun. Solid 3 stars! It was good enough to have me placing book #2 in my TBR. I have to be picky with which books get placed in my pile so I don't take that statement lightly

Overall:
This was a light read but one that warrants more time spent among these characters in this vivid world. I definitely reccomend this book if you're looking for a quick, lighthearted read.

~ Enjoy

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Honestly I had a hard time finishing the book. I think it was a descent story and one that can be well received if you're not looking for a book that makes you want to know the characters. This was kind of flat for my likes but I was able to complete the story which says a lot. Spaceships, some twists, a little action.

I could write about tight story structure, great characters and a lot more. However, if you have a Starliner in default, call Milky Way Repo. If you don't, buy the book and spend time with the crew. You will not be disappointed.

Excellent story!

Characters are interesting and likeable. Strong firefly / star wars (Han solo, no Jedi) feel. Has enough detail to flesh out storyline without causing the book to get bogged down.
