Collywobbles can be described as the flutters in your stomach from anxiety. The character in this story struggles with his ADHD- and the goal of the man beside him through it all is to understand him more.
Collywobbles is a low angst, mental health rep, superstition running rampant town, nosey family, college romance.
If you like slow burns that are slower than molasse in Canda during winter, this one is for you. The burn was so slow I had anxiety. I may have even yelled out loud to no one..."OMFG kiss already damn" or "if someone doesn't make a damn move soon, I'm going to shake both of you like babies". That being said I love it, it was weird and funny. I'm not sure why this entire town is hard bend over superstitions, but it made an interesting story telling device, and not one that is common is a non-magical book. Draven might have been a little stalkerish, but I think he was just a boy with a crush- a little overzealous boy with a crush (who could blame him Nyx is adorable). Nyx's ADHD is very well represented in the book; it's not glossed over or made to be a cute little quirk. Tatum delves into the topic with care and thoughtfulness. Reading Nyx's struggles with everything from day-to-day actives and college was really eye-opening. The reader, like Draven, gains a real appreciation for Nyx and his strength. I really loved him as a character. Draven's love and patience with Nyx was so heartfelt and adorable. Plus, a hot man that makes artisan jewelry and leaves gifts on your doorstep, what's not to love. Keep in mind I was not kidding about the slow burn; the two MMCs don't actually kiss or hook up until 60 % through (somewhere between 50 and 60%), and then it's still a constant comedy of errors and push and pull dynamics. Although it did get frustrating, the pay off at the end was good. But if there ever is a Jalen and Corbin, it better move faster. My anxiety can't handle it. 4.5 stars
This was weird, funny and SO much fun. A college romance in a ridiculously superstitious town, with a sweet gift-leaving stalker and a painfully slow burn. Honestly, what more could you want?
Draven was such a sweetheart. Was he maybe a little stalkerish? Sure. But honestly, I think he was just a boy with a crush, and can you really blame him when Nyx is this adorable? I loved how patient and caring he was with Nyx. Plus, a hot guy who makes artisan jewellery AND leaves gifts on your doorstep? Sign me up.
Nyx was so easy to love, and I thought the ADHD representation was really well done. It wasn’t just treated as a cute little quirk. We actually got to see how it affected his day-to-day life, college and relationships, and I loved how Draven took the time to understand him rather than expecting him to change.
And OMG, the slow burn. It takes sooo long for them to share a kiss, and even after that it’s basically a constant comedy of errors and push-and-pull. I definitely got a little frustrated, but the payoff was worth it.
I loved the whole superstition thing. This entire town is apparently VERY committed to their superstitions, and while I have questions, it made for such a fun and unusual part of the story.
Draven and Nyx were just ridiculously sweet together, and I really hope we get stories about some of the side characters because I definitely want more!
A weird, funny, sweet college romance with great ADHD representation, a very patient love interest and one questionable-but-adorable secret admirer. I had so much fun with this one!
Thank you to Tatum Bailey for the ARC — this review is my honest opinion.
The book focuses on Nyx and Draven. Nyx deals with ADHD and anxiety. He's a college kid who's superstitious. Draven has fallen for Nyx and has engaged in some mild stalking. As a secret admirer, he has been leaving presents for Nyx. Their friendship begins when Nyx asks Draven to help him discover the identity of his admirer. Nyx sees Draven as his lucky charm after Draven helps him avoid falling and requests that he remain with him to counter his bad luck.
I really enjoyed this book. Draven was incredibly kind and very understanding of Nyx's difficulties. The presents he gave were very thoughtful. It totally made me swoon. Nyx and Draven made such a perfect match. I completely understand Nyx's struggles. I deal with ADHD as well, so I really understand how he felt. I feel the author gave an authentic representation of ADHD.
This was a great read. There was minimal angst, and it was really cute. The characters came across as very realistic and likeable. This book's perfect for anyone who loves a cute MM romance.
This story is very different from the author's other books about second chance love. It's super cute story about two guys who share a class in college. One is already obsessed with the other and has taken on the role of secret admirer - leaving anonymous gifts. The other struggles with ADHD and has a hard time focusing and following through on tasks but is immediately infatuated with his secret admired (who he does not yet know is his secret admirer) when they meet in class. It's a low angst story because we already know both MMCs are into each other, but there is still tension. Its a matter of them working through miscommunications and assumptions. Low angst, some light stalking, a heavy does of superstition, neurodivergent rep, a little bit of spice and a sassy black cat. A great book to read if you need something light in between heavier books.
Review to come. I am a serious mood reader. I don't want to DNF this book because I am not in that right head space to read it. I will be back much later to review it.
This was such a good book. it was so sweet and fun. I’m not normally into slow burns but I didn’t really notice I was so swept up with the story.
A collage romance in a superstitious town with a sweet present leaving stalker. So much fun. Draven was such a sweetheart and he was so sweet and patient with Nyx.
Nyx was so easy to love he had a great personality the adhd representation was done so well.
absolutely loved this book!! Draven is such a sweet and caring person and Nyk's secret admirer. Nyk having adhd is always going from one thought to another but Draven doesn't mind. He wants to be with Nyk regardless. I love the understand and caring about the adhd and mental health issue that Tatum has given this story. Such a sweet story. Also hope there are more stories about the side characters!! (less) [edit]
Collywobbles is a slow burn done the right way. At times I wanted to push Draven and Nyx’s heads together myself so that they would kiss, but the wait gave me an amazing story. It ended up being a weirdly sweet and fun read.
I loved Draven and Nyx so much. Though they had a very unconventional start, they have become one of favorite couples. Draven’s patience with Nyx is incomparable and it really makes this story worthwhile. Nyx was just adorably quirky all around.
Oh well, and now I wish I had a stalker like that...
This was a really sweet slow-burn, with a great ADHD representation and a side of superstition/ spooky season felling 😽
What else there is to say?
Like EVERY Tatum Bailey book, I can't stop yapping to unsuspecting friends about it - and like with all the other books - I am in love with the characters, the plot & the author 😽🩵
I just loved reading Collywobbles by Tatum Bailey. This was such a fun, sweet, slow burn read and I really enjoyed reading about Nyx and Draven. I also loved the characters and the superstitious town, superstitions always make things fun right??
I had such a great time reading Collywobbles. Nyx and Draven were such fun and enjoyable characters, and the town’s quirky superstitions added so much charm to the story. Really enjoyed it.
