Kayla’s Chick Rant & Book Blog
Blog Post

Heartbroken and devastated, I moved back home to North Carolina after the man I loved more than anything told me he didn’t want me anymore.
After my disastrous dating history, I had finally found the one, my soul mate, and then he just threw me away like I meant nothing to him. So, what was I supposed to do now?
I did what any woman who had her heart ripped to shreds would do. I rebounded. And I rebounded hard.
My life spun and progressed at whirlwind speed as I tried desperately to fill the hole Jason had left inside me.
I had myself fooled for a while there, until the newness of everything wore off, until the whirlwind slowed to a grinding halt and I was forced to stop and realize exactly what I’d done. I suppose I could’ve trained myself to be content with Aiden, but all I did was…

"The best way to get over a guy is to get under another one."

I could not wait to get my hands on this book after the killer of a cliffhanger Kayla left us with at the end of book 1! She did not disappoint at all.I know Kayla was scared readers would hate her & Jason because of the rocky path they follow in book 2. But for myself, I found I fell even more in love with their story because of the struggles we watched them go through in Wish he was You.

"I'm drunk as f*ck and just wanted to tell you I love you."

My heart ached, it soared and it fluttered in my chest from beginning to end. It's hard to believe this is real and not some crazy made up love story. To know its two of my greatest friends love story makes it even more amazing. I found myself glued to my kindle waiting to see what would happen next. It's one thing to hear the condensed version while just talking with Kayla and its a completely different feeling to actually sit down and read the good, the bad and the ugly.

"If he were to message or call me right this moment, or any moment in the future, I'm sure we'd pickup where we left off, like no time had passed at all."

The beginning of book 2 you seriously hate Jason's guts and actually find yourself rooting for Kayla to find happiness. I don't want to spoil anything but this is seriously a story you need to read and experience for yourself just to understand the magnitude of the emotional roller coaster it'll take you. But by the end I found myself praying some how these star crossed lovers would FINALLY find their way back to each other.

"Your friend Anni is scary as f*ck. That girl can make a man's ballsack shrivel in fear" Haaaaaaaa

I truly cannot say enough how amazing this series is. I love Kayla and Jason as friends and knew from seeing them together in real life that they have a love you don't see every day. Now getting to dig deeper into the love story that is Kayla and Jason it makes you truly appreciate the journey they went on to find their HEA, I for one CANNOT WAIT for the final book where we get to see all the pain, tears and heartache vanish away and in its wake a beautiful, memorable love story that is in my eyes one of the best stories ever!

"What if one person finds their soul mate and the other one just refuses to acknowledge it?"

And just putting it out there I would LOVE to see this story become a movie for the soul purpose of seeing a certain sex shop scene on the big screen! Ha did u think I was going to tell you why??? Sorry, but you gotta read this book for yourselves to find that out ;)

"God Bless Our Troops." <3

What are you waiting for?! GO #ONECLICK this series ASAP!!!!

spoilers in review..
gave it 3 stars.

Where to start? I wanted to skip a few chapters expecially in the beginning.
The relationship with Kayla and Austin was doomed from the beginning.
It was based on lies and that on Kayla's part. Austin is a big Fuck and I would have kicked him to
the curb a million times already but even if he wasn't a complete dick, Kayla's reasons for dating and then marrying him was a big enough reason for it to not work out.

She had Jason on her mind 24/7 even some things like the tattoo reminded her of jason and the poker table..? Also where were her parents and best friend in the don't marry him it is way to soon, you are doing it all for the wrong reasons? Someone should have spoken up.

A little into the marriage there were valid reasons for not staying together.. the fighting but mainly the fact that Kayla was happier when he was gone, then the whole Jason messages keeping secret (still don't know what his deal is). Then the fact that there was no intimacy when they were together.. only when Kayla decided that in a day she wanted a baby.

You do not decide in a day you want a baby, definetly not in the situation you are in. She was selfish for wanted a baby more to say lonely and sad, and even the damn name she wanted came actually back to Jason. Is she a great mom ? Yes no questions about that, but her reasoning were wrong and it took something as austin neglecting the child for a day to realize she wanted a divorce? I am not saying she was at fault for leaving the baby with the father, but she mentioned herself he did not care for the baby and only gave Kayla one because she wanted to be a mom... she said that he did not look out and no mention of him holding the baby.. when she left he was engrosed in his damn video games.. knowing all the mentionings above.. there were warnings signs... she should have left a long time ago.. also still almost every day obsessing about Jason would have been a clue.

From book 1 we knew Jason could not have any kids.. and I feel that Josalyn is kind of consolation prize.. I don't really know how to explain it.. but knowing how book 3 will end up.. it is not hard to guess... I will be reading book 3 because it is an ending to a series wil I re-read it again? No def not.

Not going to lie, Book 2 was harder to read, not that I didn't like because obviously I did. It was harder because Kayla's heart was shattered after returning from Texas. The one she deemed her soulmate, sent her packing back to North Carolina. Because of that, she meets another military man, Aiden and some things about him were too freaking similar to Jason, but for the bad boy ways. At first, Aiden was a man any girl could hope for, well that is until he wasn't anymore.

Throughout the 2 years after leaving Texas, Jason did pop up back into Kayla's life via MySpace. I can understand why Kayla wanted to keep that connection, I really do, I just felt she was going to set herself up for more disappointment, and she did, but the only good thing Aiden did was give her a baby girl, other than that, he turned to be a real douche waffle. Just when Kayla is near her divorce, she texts the last person she thought she would get a reply from, Jason. Oh man I cannot wait to dive into book 3, the last book. While book 1 was the meet cute and devastation, book 2 was real angsty and my heart and emotions were all over the place.

I am diving into book 3 now.

I was lucky enough to receive this book as an ARC and if you'll remember from my review of the first book, Wished For You, I was thrilled to have been given the opportunity to read it as I would never have picked it up for myself.

Well, Kayla has done it again! In this book, which is also a cliffhanger, we find out what happens when Jason basically, throws her away at the end of book 1. We get more of her scary best friend "my Anni" and let me tell you, EVERYONE needs an "Anni" in their lives!

When Kayla moves home and tries to start over, as a reader and a woman who has also experienced being let go by who I thought was “the one”, I experienced a gamut of emotions while reading about this new journey she was on. There was everything from elation to feeling how depressed Kayla was when she lost her best friend because he “didn’t want her anymore”.

From the beginning of the book, I was once again drawn in by how Kayla has turned her blog into a real romance novel along with all the angst that goes along with these types of books. She truly believes Jason is “the one” for her and while she struggles to get over him, she again turns to the internet to find someone, this time to “replace” Jason so she visits MySpace. Although I don’t think her true intention was to really replace Jason, because in her mind, he’s irreplaceable, it’s clear she had to do something to get her mind off of him. During this first date with the new guy, when they go to a party, we meet the man who eventually becomes the dreaded “replacement.” At first, I wanted to like Aiden. He seemed like a great guy and he cares about Kayla. But I could see signs that there was trouble in the making. We see how Kayla finds him attractive, but the spark she had with Jason just isn’t there. My heart hurt for her while she was trying to move on with her life the best way she knew how.

There are times in this book that I was crying both with joy: when Riley Alejandro enters her life and the birth of her beautiful baby girl Josalyn, to when the man I like to now refer to as an Assmole, did what he did on several occasions. I was incensed at some of his actions and really want to find him and junk punch his ass!!

During the entire journey of this book, there are moments of hopefulness and joy like when we find out how Jason really feels about her and how he misses his best friend as much as she misses him. Then to the emotional torture Kayla experiences when she hears his voice on the phone or reads his messages/emails, and we find out what he’s doing to get her out of his mind.

We all know that this book ends in a cliffhanger and that ultimately, Kayla and Jason get their HEA – this is not a secret and I’m not giving anything away with this review. However, when the book ends and I’m sitting on my couch crying because I want them to be together so badly, we’re given a glimmer of hope... what is that glimmer you ask? You'll just need to 1-click the book to find that out won't you?

* ARC REVIEW FROM ABIBLIOPHOBIA ANONYMOUS BOOK REVIEWS BLOG *

If you wish hard enough, could he become the man that didn't want her back? If only wishes came true.

When reading a book, you get a bit inside the authors head, but reading KD's book, she let's us in... all the way. I love that she's telling her story. A story that's full of mistakes, love, lost, wanting. What happens if we just settle for the second best? And that's what Kayla did, she settled and tried to forget about Jason, but once you've had a taste of love that's so fierce, there is no forgetting, your heart won't allow it. No matter what you try to do. And Kayla tried EVERYTHING.

In the beginning I felt bad for Aiden. The poor guy didn't know what he was getting with Kayla, he didn't know that she wished he was another man, that their relationship was biased on comfort.

“I don’t know who or what hurt you, but if you let me, I’m going to kiss and make it better."- Aiden

But hell, that flew out the window, faster than a bird trying to escape their cage. He's an ass. I can't stand him... and still, he needs to be kicked in his baby maker's.

" You’re my one who got away,”- Jason

I seriously haven't read a book that flies by. One minute I started, the next I'm ending. I believe the way KD writes, it's so easy for you to read. It sucks you in and doesn't let go. We have to know what happen next, and again, we're left wanting more... not as bad as the last time, though. I wanted her to scream, say 'Im done!', but it takes her a while. I loved seeing her turn into an independent woman, who would do whatever she had to do, no matter what. Seeing pictures of her on IG, Facebook, it makes you feel closer to her, that you know who this person is, who this dog Riley, is. Lol! I'm no stalker... maybe. Hehehe! Amazing book, I felt like she has grown even more into a writer than the last book. Can you even imagine how more awesome the final book will be!? I need it now!!

I can't wait to read the finally book, to read her happily ever after.

** Review by Kylie from Bloggers From Down Under **

With book one finishing on such a heartbreaking cliffhanger, we catch up with Kayla as she tries to get on with her life without Jason. She's moved back to her home town and soon makes new friends.

When Kayla first meets Aiden, she's not ready for a relationship but soon things are quickly moving in that direction. When, on a weekend away, Aiden asks Kayla to be his girlfriend, even she is surprised that she agrees.

When news of Aiden's deployment comes, he does the only thing that really makes any sense to him, and proposes. And even though it's only been a few months, Kayla once again finds herself agreeing.

It's not long after the wedding, (while Aiden's on deployment) that Kayla and Jason seriously begin communicating with one another, and Kayla truly realises that Jason is her soul mate and the only man for her.

But fate has other ideas, and while you may be expecting a happily ever after, we don't get it in this book!!!!

Another superbly written piece that honestly feels like shooting the breeze with one of my oldest girlfriends. Not all parts of this story are pretty, and Kayla will even tell you herself that it was the hardest time she had to deal with.

Another instalment that I couldn't put down............eagerly awaiting the third and final book so our girl can finally get her happily ever after.

A definite 5 stars.

I dropped what I was reading to read this book!

Real life fairytale! I wanted to like Aiden, but I don't. I wanted to feel sorry for him since you got married but were not in love with him. I don't. Jason should have let you know he was not coming after he got your hopes up. You are a strong woman. Please dont maje me wait long for 3!

Book given by author for a honest review.
I totally loved all 3 books in this series. I dont think i have ever read anything like this, with myself being a blogger too I love the way she wrote this.
I love that this was a true story.. how she met the man of her dreams, and the long, hard and painfull road to getting him and her HEA.
as soon as I was done with book 1 i dove head first into book 2.. i felt so bad for Kayla.. she was devastated and alone.. trying to get over the heartache that is Jason.. she gets back into her old ways.. parties and military men..
when we met Aiden I wanted to like him.. he was likeable.. for a very very short time.. then he just got on my nerves.. and was a total ass bag.. but she did get one very precious thing from him.. her beautiful and precious baby girl Josalyn and lets not forget that super cute pup Riley Alejandro...
Obviously her marriage is falling apart..her and Aiden both know it.. they dont talk.. dont see each other... and that god damn stunt he pulled with Josalyn... Kayla had all right to shit a brick and leave his ass.
i loved the ending to this one much better then the first.. yes it was still a cliffy but we get Jason..
Amazing job!! i loved it!!

Seriously awesome ending-ish

FYI: I’m immediately devouring book 3 in T-minus 30 seconds :D
I found KD through fb and decided to start with this series bc it’s about her real life- how freakin awesome is that??!!!
Anyway, this series has been amazing so far! KD has a unique way of writing that just pulls me right into her head. I’ve teared up and laughed out loud several times now, startling myself bc I was so deep in the story.
This series is definitely a must-read!! I have a feeling I have found a new auto-buy author!!

I enjoyed this book so much more than the first. I feel like the writing was better. As I said in the first book, I enjoyed the story line. This one had more drama and had my beard breaking for Kayla. She just wanted to be loved after Jason dumped her and unfortunately she jumped head first into a relationship with the first guy she found, who turned out to be a total a-hole. I can’t wait to see how her and Jason come back together to get their HEA

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts are 100% my own.***

We’re back with Kayla. And no, you can’t just jump in and read this book. Doing that will greatly affect the way you’ll feel about this book and the characters. So, go back and read Wished For You (my review here), then come back here and read this. There are some kinda spoilers in this, but not something that can be helped, truly.

Kayla is estranged from the man she loves. She’s back home, nursing a broken heart when she meets Aiden. And this story is more about her relationship with Aiden and her longing for Jason than it is a romance between she and Jason. And while that doesn’t really follow the typical romance narrative, I completely understand why it’s done here.

Here’s my take on the whole thing, and it might get me flack, but I’m also looking at it from a 40-year-old woman’s perspective that’s not emotionally involved. I don’t think Kayla gave Aiden a fair shake from the beginning. I think she wasn’t honest with him but only barely more so with herself. And I think that it is possible he felt that on some deep level. THIS DOES NOT EXONERATE him from his wrong doings. And trust me when I say that there were some! I just think that much of the heartache and misery of this time could have been circumvented. BUT in the end she had an amazingly beautiful daughter and Kayla seems to have grown as a character during this time, so maybe that was a necessary evil.

That being said, when the heart has found its center, it’s impossible for it to not pull toward it. And though there was distance and time and sometimes forced isolation between Jason and Kayla, they forever found themselves bouncing back toward each other.

Ms. Robichaux’s narrative voice is still very different from the norm. And it still feels awkward to me at the beginning. But it’s supposed to. It’s supposed to feel like reading a blog and hearing from an old friend. That hasn’t changed from the first book to this one. Which is refreshing and it’s relevant to the point of the story. It is HER story. We’re just her friend and she’s finally getting around to emailing it to us. And while some people might take an exception to this writing style, I find that it suits the book perfectly. So the question is, would I recommend this book. In for a penny, in for a pound! I read the first, really liked it, recommended it. I read this, and though I’m not as keen on it (it’s nothing to do with the writing or the subject), I’m dying to get my mitts on the third. So, yes, I would say, with all things, there are growing pains to be experienced, and this is one of those. But do read it. I do recommend it. It will be so worth it in the end.

WOW!!! It's been a long time since I've had a book suck me in and literally make me feel everything written on each page in a long time!!! The Blogger Series, by KD Robichaux, is a true story based on her story with her soul mate, and now it's not all perfectly happily ever after. The details in the books just captures you and makes you feel like you are there watching everything like on a movie scene. Not only does it take a lot of courage to put your real story out there it takes a lot to show your mistakes especially if those mistakes involve the ones you love. It just amazes me how well this series was put together. I'm going through my own personal love issues at the moment and these books just proved to me there is hope, and sometimes happily ever after isn't always so easy to get to, but it's still worth every moment.

Wish he was you, is the story of how life had to continue for Kayla. After being heartbroken by the love of her life and moving back home, she had to face her new normal. Which wasn't all that great either, especially with all the drinking she was doing to help numb her pain. This ended up bringing Aiden into her life, someone she thought would be able to fill the hole inside her. So she made mistake after mistake with him wishing he was Jason. Seeing how dramatically things had changed for Kayla, you can't help but wish for something to go right for her in book 3.

ALERT!!! CLIFFHANGER AGAIN!!

What a story! Heartbreaking. Emotional. Funny. Amazing.

I liked that the story took place in Texas (near Houston) which is a place I am familiar with. Most people look at me like I am crazy when I tell them to stay on the “feeder” as many do not know what that is. I was glad to see that it was appropriately named as the Houstonians call them.

I can’t imagine going through the things that Kayla went through and then to have to walk away leaving her heart in shambles. My heart reached out for the heartaches that Kayla had to go through. At the end of the first book I wanted to reach through and smack Jason for pushing her away while my heart just ached for the heartbreaking moment that Kayla drove back to NC. I thought the flirting and playfulness between Jason and Kayla was funny – just like two typical teenagers. Jason was a typical bad boy that had a soft side and was willing to take care of the people that he loved. This made Jason all the more likeable in my book.

I read the books as a trilogy which I was glad for. I would have had to wait for book 2 and 3 after reading book 1. Each book had such emotions with some comedy mixed in. I was hooked from the beginning of book 1 to the end of book 3. I thought they were well written. If you are looking for a good book that will keep you laughing, crying, and turning page after page, then these are the books for you. I recommend getting all three at once as you will not want to wait to see what happens next.

**spoilers ahead**

This book has all the feels! When I finished it I had to sit and just let the story settle into my brain.
This book has a lot of angst and pain but I love that you get to see how strong Kayla is; between dealing with the pain of losing Jason, to meeting Aiden and dealing with his deployments, to having Josalyn, & then her split with Aiden....
I think it could seem overwhelming but I think that KD did an amazing job of showing how there's good in between the bad & that she overcame all the bad she had to deal with. Plus you could just feel the love and happiness she exploded with when she had Josalyn.
I think if I didn't know that she & Jason had their HEA it would be tough with the cliffhanger.

This has become one of my favorite series and I can't wait to read the 3rd book!!

In this installment, we catch up with Kayla after she has been turned away by Jason :(
In this book, I laughed, I cried, I wanted to throat punch people (well really just one person) and I was ready to go dig out my baseball bat to use as a weapon.
This book was hard to read after the first one where I came to know Kayla as a book friend- you know, one of the people that starts to live in your head as if you know them in real life? Well after reading her books, it's almost like I do. It's hard to look and see a "friend" or person go through such hard times. At least we know she gets her HEA and that's what held me through this one!

Another enjoyable read from KD. This is the second installment in her series, and it ends on another cliffhanger. At least we already know that she gets her HEA. I'm eagerly awaiting the third book.

These books are definitely NOT stand alones and will need to be read in order so you can appreciate KD's and Jason's love story.

All the while reading this book, I was wishing I had known KD then and could have stopped her from a monumental mistake she made in this book. She gained something wonderful from that mistake, and she was very strong throughout her ordeal, I wished she didn't have to suffer like she did from heartbreak.

Looking forward to the third installment and their HEA.

4*

Although I preferred book 1 to this book, it is a part of the story. It is needed too see where Kayla ends up and why.
This book is very different. It is based on settling for second best. Realising it is never going to work. Trying to look to the future as a single mum.
Aiden is am A#s! There is blame on both parts but he is a D!£k! I would have murdered him for leaving the baby to get a soar bum.
Again, this book leaves you wondering what is going to happen in the next book. Since Kayla gets her HEA I look forward to reading it.

I've been anxiously awaiting the release of this book! Wish He Was You does not disappoint! After reading book one and being left devastated for Kayla, book two picks up right where we left off. I adore how much detail the author pours into her books, I can honestly feel every emotion right along with the characters. The timeline is easy to follow, and even though we are left with a cliffhanger at the end I couldn't have asked for more. Fabulous read! Loved every word of it!

I'm not a fan of Aidan and that's putting it lightly. Now Jason I have liked till this book he made me second guess myself.

These books are equal parts great and painful to read. Great because I kinda know the end but painful to just think it's based on a real love story.

Book Two in The Blogger Diaries Trilogy—

I shed a few tears for KD at the end of the last book, as well as the beginning of this one. To find your love and lose it before you even got a good grip on it is a hurt I'm not willing to experience for myself.

This 4 star isn't because I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book, I still believe she deserves 5 stars purely for being brave and open enough to share every part of her life with the world, but this is more a selfish reason (sorry KD). Like any other romance I read I wished there was more of the two main characters. I completely understand why there wasn't, since this one was more about KDs personal journey, but the hopeless romantic in me wanted Jason to come swooping in and be with KD, especially reading how unhappy she was since leaving Texas. Unfortunately I needed to remind myself that this wasn't another one of my fictional stories, that's not real life, so instead I looked forward to the small moments they shared in this book, and savored them.

What I absolutely loved most about this book—
I loved seeing KD grow in this book, I especially loved seeing her become mama. The way this book is written makes you feel as though you're a friend of hers, and she's confiding in you about everything going on in her life. I enjoyed every chapter because it brought me closer to the "person" rather than the "author".

I'm excited for the last book because at this point I'm invested in this couple and although I already know they're happily married, I can't wait to read their second chance—after all it is my favourite trope!

I don’t know what to say???

Ok I enjoyed the first book cause I could relate to it a lot and come to find out me and the author had our babies around the same time. But I have to be honest she married for the wrong reason and she never wanted the man from the jump. So everything he did just pissed her off anyway! So she wasn’t fair to him at all. Yes he did some questionable things but she wasn’t being fair! Like getting made at him when she found him in the bathroom??? Ummmm you was having conversations with your ex that you still was so called in love with!!! And her best friend she had that always wanted to tell people off for making her mad?? Why didn’t this best friend call her out on her crap?? And believe me it was plenty!!! And one more thing! I could go on with every thing I found wrong but I will stop here! The whole thing getting mad when you went to the casino was crazy! That wasn’t no reason to get mad. But after reading this book it just looks to me that Kayla was just looking for anything and everything not to be with him and blow up at him!
