Wade Ferris had given up his life of fighting for others, or so he thought. Content to run the small motel he had bought with the money he had earned in the beach front area of Waikanae. The quiet life suited him, especially in the winter when there were little or no Guests to worry about.

This night was no different than any other winters night. It was raining hard and the sound of the breakers hitting the beach made everything seem normal. Tonight wasn’t going to be like every other night though, It was going to be the first night in a series of events that would drag himself as well as his close friend Dan Carline into a fight for survival against a force of extraterrestrial invaders that had plans to colonize his world.

They would be happy to have left the entire task to the New Zealand Defense Forces, but circumstances forced them both out of retirement to wage a private war against the invaders while what remained of the military tried to reorganize themselves after being devastated by Pearl harbor styled attacks in the initial first hours of the invaders arriving.

Trained in Guerilla style warfare, both Ferris and Carline felt right at home, hitting at the invading force, then backing away, only to return and strike again. With each successive strike, they learned more about the Aliens capabilities, their strengths and their weaknesses. Gathering this information and using it to strike harder and harass the Invaders.

They knew that what they had learned about the invaders, they had to pass onto the Military. Finding a way to do that bought them a new set of problems, in the form of the local outcasts and gangs that had formed an uneasy alliance with the invaders who had promised them power and wealth, in return for their help in exterminating any resistance.

Born in New Zealand sometime around the middle of last century, and according to my mother, I was found under a cabbage plant when asked where I came from. During these early years I spent a lot of time with my Grandparents. My Grandfather was a fisherman and owned a small fleet of ocean going fishing boats. Before I was 5 years old I knew how to strip down the engines and how to mend and make fishing nets. All these good things taught to me, I was sure would hold me in good stead at some future time.
So armed with new found knowledge of engines, fishing nets, and that I just grew; I was packed off to Elementary School to begin years of tedious book learning. I remember the first few days quite vividly, wondering home at the first break in class and my mother asking me why I was home. My reply to that was “The teacher said I didn’t need to be there anymore and I knew everything I needed to know.” This was a concept that suited me right down to the ground. But for some unknown reason Mom didn’t see it that way. So I had my sorry butt dragged back to that place! I remained there for one whole year.
At that years end, I was told I was not going to be going back to the old school, which for your information suited me just fine. The trouble was I didn’t hear the rest of the what was being said. I spent that Christmas break enjoying the feeling that school was done for me and I was free to do as I pleased until I was old enough to go out to work. Can you imagine the shock I felt when the Christmas break was over and I find my scrawny ass being dragged out of bed at the ungodly hour of 7:00 a.m. on that Monday morning. (You can insert whatever cuss words you know in here. It’s all good.) A new school, new teachers…oh, crap!
I found myself becoming a foundation pupil of a brand new school. Windley School, a name to be feared in future years. It was during this year that we moved to a new house as well, closer to the school. By the time I was about 8 this learning thing had become a bad habit. Forced into attending this “School” 5 days a week was getting to be a bit of a drag. Although I did find I had the knack for making people laugh and generally getting teachers a tiny bit pissed at me. (Good stuff!) I discovered writing as well during this time and I found that I could get a few laughs out of it. The teacher would say I want a 500 word essay from every one by this afternoon. (Which translated into, I don’t feel like teaching right now I need to rest.) Hell! With only 500 word, I had barely gotten started on the first part. I think the teacher actually feared asking for a word count. While my classmates moaned and groaned about it being so long, I was happily filling my exercise book full of words and dream worlds.
I always knew when the teacher got to my book. There was an audible sigh from her when she opened it. “Clarke come here! “ She would say. “Do you know what 500 words mean?” Yes Ma’am.” I’d answer. “What does it mean? Tell me!” “Not enough Ma’am.” Which usually earned me a slap on the hand from her, much to the enjoyment from the rest of the class.
High School was an eye opener for me. I discovered Girls, lots of girls to occupy my time with. I also during this time I met a local poet, who ended up being my English teacher. Sam Hunt was one of the few people that actually tried to help me develop a style that suited my personality. But unfortunately his time there was limited, His own poetry and needs took first place. I couldn’t blame him for that. If I was at the peak of my career I would have done the same thing as well.
Once out of High School I met a young man that was to become a close and dear friend for many years after. We were destined to share a friendship that would lead both of us through a great deal of harrowing times and adventures. We rode motorbikes together, got into no ends of trouble. Tried our hands at riding in the rodeo for a couple of seasons thinking we might make a fe

I was giving Wade Ferris Chronicles Shadow Warrior for my honest review. I absolutely loved it. W.M. Clarke has a brilliant mind and did a phenomenal job on this book. As you take this adventure with Wade Ferris and Dan Carline you'll be swept away in this war against these two good friends versus aliens.
I laughed, I was sadden by some events, I even was angry and wanted to beat these aliens at their game.
The details that W.M. Clarke painted into your mind made me feel like I was living the life's of these men as they traveled to the different cities to help save themselves and the survivors from these visitors. there is so much action and excitement I didn't want to put it down and often fell asleep reading it only to wake up wanting more. This is a book i will read again and again. I'm really looking forward to reading more about Wade Ferris, Dan Carline, Carmella and Janine Trasco AKA Ginny in book 2 of this exciting series. I was given a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. I am so happy that I was given the opportunity to read this book.
Wade Ferris is a 50 year old retired military man enjoying his simple life in Newfoundland. He has a long friendship with Dan Carline also with the same type fighter background. These are the two main characters of the book.
The book is a science fiction 5 star read.
The story starts out with extreme action and never slows down. The story begins with unknown blips on the radar that are following a plane that is heading for a military base. The radar at the base is not picking up what the plane is picking up and then suddenly everything goes out. I cannot possibly in a few words give a description of how fast things happen! By chapter 2 the Aliens have arrived on the beaches of Newfoundland and Ferris is making plans to get to Carline's home and is prepared to do what is necessary to escape and fight the invaders.
This book is amazing in how fast it flows and how intricate the descriptions of what the characters are doing to prepare, plan, fight and travel. I felt that I was right alongside Ferris and Carline as they traveled and fought back. I often found myself holding my breath, feeling like I was hiding and ducking my head so as not to be seen. I wanted to call friends and tell them to read this book! If you enjoy military, science fiction and fast thinking and action this is THE book to buy!

Starting this book with the knowledge that this isn't the kind of book I normally read I wanted to keep an open mind. After reading the story I feel that it was well written! The story follows two retired army men on their everyday routines and aliens come and try to take their town over. The government wants everyone to leave their homes and the lives they have always known and these two men decide they are going to fight. They begin a journey to gather the things they need to survive and fight. They gain valuable knowledge about the aliens doing so. They also begin to use the aliens own bombs against them to take down vital parts the aliens are trying to build to take over the planet. This end with you wanting to know more and what happens next. You anticipate the following book in the series to continue the story. I believe the author of this novel thought this beginning book to his series out well! It is wrote in a way that even if it isn't your regular type if book you will be completely captivated in the story! I rate this book with five stars I really enjoyed it!

I was given Wade Ferris Chronicles. Shadow warrior by W.M. Clarke for an honest review. To be honest this is my first Sci Fi book I've read in years, and I can honestly say I'm hooked once again. W.M. Clarke has such a way with his writing and pulling you into the scenes i was living the life of both Ferris and Dan Carline. This book is non stop action with two close friends verses an army of aliens. One of my favorite scenes was when Ferris goes in and bombs something that is very useful but the funny part is what Ferris used to do it. You'll have to read it to find out how he bombed it and how these two men make out. Brilliant writing W.M. Clarke.

I liked this story. So not a girly read. Fast paced story of two men surviving an alien invasion. Tons of action and cat and mouse battles with the aliens. Thank goodness Wade Ferris is a low tech man in a high tech invasion. Can they, will they survive the invasion and help the military win the battle for our planet? Book 2 continues the journey but sadly I will not. Guess I am a little more girly than I thought. I did like the story and characters and would recommend to my male friends and sons.

This was my first Sci/fi anything.  I'm a forensic type.  I like to figure  out what I'm reading,  and usually it's hard for me to stay in a book,  but with every twist and turn I found that I really couldn't put it down.  Usually I can figure out who the villains are quickly.
There's one part that really intrigued me,  it was when Ferris and Carline went to the lodge and what they found shocked me.
I was intrigued with how Ferris would go with his instincts.
As I was reading I thought of a lot of friends who I want to read this.  I was really intrigued by it all.
As I read this I could picture it like I was watching a movie.
There was a lot of shocking moments in this book that I didn't expect.
I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good adventure.
This needs to be made into a movie.

This is not my usual type of book, but as I have been told so many times don't judge a book by its cover. This is a well-written book. This book is fast flowing full of action and some really creative situations. From the start, I felt like I was with Ferris and Carline and what adventure they took me on. If you love a great read full of adventure and 2 heroes this is the book for you. I absolutely loved this book.

I've been a huge Science Fiction reader for years.
This book was full of details that had you believing your in the book.
This was well written and well planned out. W.M. Clarke has a wild imagination and that alone is made for a fantastic book. I'm off to read book 2. Keep them coming. My new favorite book.
