Review: FROGS by Emma Child [AMAZING ANIMAL KINGDOM SERIES BOOK 18]
Another amazing entry in Emma Child's super children's series, AMAZING ANIMAL KINGDOM! I personally enjoyed this entry, as I like frogs and collect them [stuffed and ceramic, not live!] Of course, as much as I like them, I still learned a whole lot more information about them, as the author is an inveterate researcher, and each book is lovingly illustrated with excellent photos.
I borrowed Frogs ~ Amazing Animal Kingdom ~ Book 18, by Emma Child, author from the Kindle Unlimited Program on Amazon.
Frogs ~ Amazing Animal Kingdom ~ Book 18 is part of a wonderful animal science series. This book is full of photos and fun facts about frogs, their sizes, where they live, what they look like and eat. It also gives the reader ways to tell a frog from a toad. It is wonderful to use as a science teaching tool about frogs.
My family enjoys these fun fact books by Emma Child. This book can't cover all the frog types, but does give basic details, kinds, and how to tell a frog from a toad.
I suppose a lot of males think that, but only male frogs have achieved it. That's because only the male frog has the small sac in his throat that allows him to croak. The female frog lacks the sac. So that tree frog who croaks loudly in the bush outside my office window really IS a guy (I KNEW it!) but the frogs who croak back at him aren't his girlfriends, but his buddies. Maybe they're planning to meet up to go looking for lady frogs.
As always when I read one of this author's incredible animal books, I'm surprised at how much I have to learn. I would have bet money that there are no frogs in the Arctic OR the dessert (and I would have been wrong.) I knew that some frogs excrete poison through their skins, but I didn't realize they are so deadly. And that see-through frog? Sounds like science fiction.
This series is well-researched and well-written. Ms. Child presents her information in such fine style that children and adults alike can enjoy her books. I look for them and read each new one with great pleasure. You should, too.
Like all the other books in her series about animals, the author provides facts in a fun and easily remembered way, complete with colour photos of the subject animals. In this case there are frogs of all colours, including one type that looks like a strawberry! There are various ways to identify whether a frog is a male or a female, including using the size of their ears! Where are the frogs ears? Read the book and find out...
This is another fun-fact lesson about the little green frogs; well, not all are green. They also come in different sizes, but all seem to love water! They have large eyes which can stare at you, and if you move, the frogs do a big jump. Their tongues are long and sticky, why? So they can snap those tasty bugs right out of the sky! One thing that many people don't know is that frogs shed their skins every few weeks, rather like most snakes. The difference is, frogs gobble up their tossed away skin ... munch, munch! This series of children's books created by Emma Child is factual, yet fun to read. Her series is also very useful for reference for older children. I always learn new things about creatures in this series. Highly recommend.
Did you know there are many many different types and sizes of frogs?
I liked this ebook a lot! It has a lot of info to share that I get most of you did not ever know or even seen before! I recommend this ebook for young kids maybe about 7 years and up or even an older one who may be planning on going to say the much warmer climates so they would not what frogs to touch and what ones not to dare touch as they could paralyze or even kills a human being. Also has beautiful photos and fun facts at the back of this ebook. ,For all these reasons, this is why I feel it needs five stars. Super job Emma! By Angela
“FROGS: Fun Facts and Amazing Photos of Animals in Nature (Amazing Animal Kingdom Series Book 18)” by Emma Child is a great book about frogs. You will learn about their lives, what they eat, their habitats, and you will also learn about different types of frogs. This book is very informative on each frog, and the pictures are great. I would recommend this book and Emma Child’s other book in this series.
