Write Here With You

What was supposed to be a one night stand leads them to a place they never thought they’d be.

Lyric Jackson is more than satisfied with her rolodex of men and women to warm her bed, with no room for feelings. For nine years, she has found comfort with her editing job, apartment with her best friend, and being away from home which holds reminders of her father’s passing.

When Lyric gets a call about her mom's health scare, she decides to return home. She sees the move as a chance to embrace new opportunities. However, she is forced to face everything she's been writing, grief, and... love.

With Summer Break ahead, Drew Brown only has plans for one painting to his heart’s content before another school year. A chance meeting during a night at the karaoke bar ends in a rendezvous in the sheets with Lyric. A night with a woman he can’t stop thinking about.

While Lyric plans on leaving that night as it was, Drew plans to make it more than just a one night stand. He goes into full pursuit to show Lyric things she’s never experienced understanding, attention, and his heart.

But can Lyric let go of pains of the past to embrace the love that awaits her right here at home?

3.75/5 ⭐️

I really enjoyed this one. There’s something about two people who’ve experienced some type of hurt finally finding someone who knows how to love them properly.

Drew pursuing Lyric with patience, understanding, and intention while she learned to let love in was so sweet. I especially loved how they encouraged each other to step back into the passions they had pushed aside. Lyric with her writing and Drew with his art, they weren’t just falling in love, they were reminding each other of who they were.

From a one-night stand to healing, creating, and loving each other properly. This was such a sweet read.

And the soundtrack was FIRE. Meisha had the vibes VIBING.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. I appreciated the opportunity to it.

This is a sweet and spicy romance that centers two MCs finding chemistry then love and being forced to navigate some familial truths that they’ve been actively ignoring. Our FMC, Lyric, is a black-cat, noncommittal author who is finds herself back home, after 9 years being away, to care for her mom and help run the family bookstore. She had been avoiding home to avoid wrestling with the grief of losing her Dad 9 years ago. Our MMC is Drew, a golden retriever, lover boy artist who feels pressure from his Dad to be teacher and not an artist because “art doesn’t pay the bills.”

FMC and MMC meet and the chemistry is electric between the two. The spice is plentiful, explicit, but not overdone. I mean Drew loves to please, what can I say 🤷🏾‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️. While these two are the only characters with spicy scenes, there are plenty of spicy vibes between the other characters like Dani and Tony, Drew’s parents. The story will definitely keep you warm on a chilly night.

The story was nicely paced. I wish I had a little more background on Drew’s shared family trauma so I could better understand the pressure he felt. I also wish for a little more about his parents because I loved their dynamic and I just want to know a bit more of their story. But the author does a nice job of developing the side characters. I didn’t read the first book in the series but now I want to learn more about Dani and Tony. And the author gives some clues about who’s next in line for a book - and I’m so sat for it!

Lastly, this book was effortlessly Black and very rooted in its location, Memphis. I say this because all of the main and side characters are Black but not in a way that leans into stereotypes or tropes. You can hear their Blackness in how they speak, how they relate to one another, and how they move in space. A person with Southern Black parents and who lived in the South for good chunk of my adulthood, reading “yes ma’am” and “yes, sir”warmed my heart in the best way.

If you want to read a story about grown Black folks navigating love, healing from trauma, exploring their passions and grounded in love by their friends and family, please pick this up.

Thank you Meisha G for the opportunity to review this ARC. This is my honest opinion.

What a sweet and touching love story between Drew & Lyric. Sometimes the free bird just needs a safe space to land. Drew saw Lyric for who she was, he didn't attempt to change her or rush her. He let her catch upto him since he was gone immediately.

Lyric has returned home to Memphis to be with her mom, she's faced with a past that includes grief and past notariety, she must reconcile both to be successful as an author. Drew is passionate about art and highly talented, but he puts it on the back burner for practicalities and fatherly pressure. One night of fun brings them together, but they may not be able to walk away in the morning.

This is my first book by Meisha G and I will be circling back on her catalog. This gave the right amount of spice, tension, growth & conflict to beengaging all the way through. I recommend this for readers that love when he falls first and when the one night turns into so much more. 4.5 stars

I received an advance copy of this book at no charge. This is my honest, voluntary review.

Listen starting with page one Meisha G had me gagged in the best way! Lyric challenged me with how I viewed FMCs, while she was a free spirit she also tried her best not to fight her feelings. Even in the moments she did fight, she knew what she really wanted and eventually got it. And as much as I wanted to be annoyed with her, I couldn’t lol. She was confident and funny and though grief had made her apprehensive she still moved with good energy. Drew was that guy! I screamed when I read he was a short king because I imagined him to be at least 6ft with his energy lol. I loved that Drew never tried to change Lyric, instead he got in where he fit in and bulldozed his way to her heart. The side moments with Danielle & Tony, Zay & Novi & even Mr.Bill and Ms.Michelle were perfect. The comic relief in this book was a perfect balance while still covering real moments and the spicy ones 🥰. I love these two together and I can’t wait for the next book 🔥

Write Here With You was such a sweet read. I really enjoyed Lyric and Drew together, especially watching them push each other back toward the things they truly loved. Both of them had some healing to do, and I loved that their relationship wasn’t just about romance it was also about finding themselves again.

Drew was definitely giving patient and intentional, and I was here for it! 😂❤️ Overall, this was a cute, feel good romance with love, healing, family, and a little spice. And the soundtrack?! Definitely added to the vibes! 🎶📚

Write here with me was a beautiful story Lyric comes back home to Mempis to assist her family business. While out one night she meets Drew and some things happen and um let's just say it wasnt what Lyric had planned for. Lyric is an Author deciding on her next project and Drew a school teacher with a desire to create Art but his family's expectations keep him from living his dream. So Lyric and Drew both creatives find they need each other more than thought. This was a great read I finished in one sitting and so happy for Drew and Lyric to have their happily ever after. I felt so seen, especially navigating dating with the loss of a parent (also not knowing how to play spades hahaha). Can’t wait for the next one.

Well-written, cute story about finding love, real friendship, and remaining true to yourself. I liked the way the author incorporated characters from her other books without losing focus on the main characters. Fun read!

I received an advance copy of this book at no charge. This is my honest, voluntary review. Y’all know I love a strong FMC, and Lyric was definitely my kind of woman! She knew what she wanted, wasn’t afraid to go after it, and was applying pressure right along with the MMC. 😂 I also loved seeing a man who was secure enough to let her be exactly who she was. She wasn’t perfect, and love definitely had her a little shook, but she was never weak.

A really good, grown romance with spice, heart, and characters I enjoyed.

If your TBR 📚 needs a romance with chemistry, a little grief to healing, a MMC who falls first and HARD, and a FMC with some serious walls to tear down, pick up Write Here With You.

First of all… Mr. Drew Brown 😍 This man was patient, intentional, attentive, and just the right amount of pressure. Lyric said one night, and Drew said, “Yeah ok…we’ll see about that.” 😂 Watching him pursue her and show her what it could feel like to be loved without having to constantly protect herself was so sweet.

But this book is about more than romance. Lyric has grief and years of protecting her heart to work through, and I loved watching her slowly open herself up to the possibility of something real. And the writer + painter becoming each other’s muse? ✍🏽🎨 Loved that!

And honestly… Drew alone might be reason enough. ❤️

I enjoyed reading Drew and Lyric's story. Meisha G was able to depict the themes of grief, loss, identity and vulnerability throughout their story. I loved the support systems on both sides and the ability to stand up, even when difficult.

A feel good read that showcases healing through love and the courage it takes to be seen.

Thank you to the author for an arc! All opinions are my own.

This is the second book in an interconnected romance series and genuinely works well as a standalone. I haven’t had a chance to read the first yet and didn’t feel like I was missing anything major, though I will eventually go back to read the first.

Lyric is straightforward, self-assured, and isn’t afraid to go after the things she wants. Drew is a golden retriever. He’s patient, loyal, and considerate of others and their opinions, sometimes to a fault.

The story is pretty fast paced, which I liked. Both Drew and Lyric have familial issues. There were times where I thought Lyric was too quick to react and Drew was too slow to react, but nobody’s perfect and I loved that they weren’t either.

I also really loved the different relationships and friendships throughout the book. From Lyric and her mom, to Drew and his mom, to their joint friends, a lot of the conversations made me laugh along with characters or nod my head in agreement.

If I had to describe this romance in one word, I would say it’s supportive.

I wish some of the things that happened occurred on the page and near the end I didn’t like that situation with one of the minor characters, but the things I enjoyed outweighed what I didn’t like.

This book is really about not letting fear stop you from going after what you want. There are some themes of family, grief, starting again, moving forward, and living for yourself.

Read this for:
🎨 She’s a reformed player
🎨 He falls first and harder
🎨 One Night Stand
🎨 Writer FMC x Painter MMC
🎨 Grief to Healing
🎨 Dual POV

I recommend it to everyone who enjoys reading about family dynamics and people who are inspired to create.
