A sweet and spicy MM college hockey romance where a jock falls in love with a music nerd.
"Hey horror boy, what’s up?"
When Stefanos breaks up with his boyfriend, he finds himself desperately in need of a place to live. His best option? The moody hockey captain's spare room. The only problem? The hockey captain doesn't seem to like him very much. Maybe if Alexei knew Stefanos was 'horror boy'—the guy he's been pining for anonymously online for the past year—he might change his mind.
Expect college hockey, MM sweet and spicy romance, hurt/comfort, nerd/jock, You've Got Mail.
When I'm not trying to invent the perfect book boyfriend, I'm studying towards a graduate degree in Modern History, trying to little avail to get better at drawing and watching You've Got Mail for the millionth time!
I write spicy MM romance with special emphasis on sports, small towns and childhood sweethearts.
I love romance books with spicy scenes that don't feel detached from the couple's relationship dynamics, and when our protagonists respect and root for each other.
Audiobook review: The narrators brought another level of emotion out of me with their performance of Stefanos and Alexei. I messaged the author, right after finishing it, asking if we could keep them!
Original 2025 ebook review: Wow. I didn't think the author could top book two, but she did! I absolutely love Stef and Alexei's story! I enjoyed the pacing, the characters, the friendship that became more before it ever knew it had already. I lost count to how many times I caught myself grinning. There were some heart-wrenching moments but the good far outweighed the sad. It was fun to enjoy the cultures represented in the story. I'm not sure if there will be more in the series but whatever she writes next, I'll read. This book hooked me from the start and is one I won't be forgetting any time soon. Can't wait to add this to my bookshelf with the other books in the series! I'll be returning to it just like you would an old friend... often and with love.
The audiobook version of Unrecognizable Player by @emmeryfoxauthor - book 3 in the Ivy League Players series is releasing tomorrow, October 6th, on @bluenoseaudio.
I already loved this book, and the audio version could not have been cast more perfectly! @silashartvo & @walkerwilliamsvo were absolutely ah-mazing!
They truly brought Emmery's words to life!
If you haven't read this one yet I 10/10 recommend downloading the audiobook version and losing yourself in this story that has all the things you need in a good college hockey romance...

✨ALC REVIEW ✨ Thank you to BlueNose Audio for the ALC and I am leaving this review voluntarily You know when you want to write a review, that actually doesn’t sound like all the others? That’s where I am. Because Alexi and Stef became my friends, through the wonderful words strung together by Emmery Fox. She strung them so well, I didn’t want it to end. So now it’s only fair I try to do the same. So you too can be friends with the handsome hockey captain and the band geek who plays by ear. Amazing. The way they met. The way they became friends to roommates to lovers, is such an endearing story. Alexi, with his family from Siberia, that he wants to take care of. Do right by. And coming out as gay was not the road to travel. Stefanos, Greek heritage and completely loving family is out, but not to them. Together they have expectations they think they must live up to, without losing who they are. Nor the families they love. They find they complete each other and they hope their love will hold them all together. And getting there is worth picking up this book or listening to the audio. Either way, don’t miss out. You can’t read this without it touching something deep in your heart. Kudos to both Silas and Walker whose performances are top notch. You both had a melodic cadence that was hypnotic and authentic. And make the audio a repeat listen. I’ll end my garble with my favorite line… “…it used to feel like finally. Now, it feels like coming home” - Alexi Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Spice: 🌶️🌶️ Narration: 🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️🎙️

I just finished a Pitch Black dark romance that left me completely shattered, and somehow Unrecognizable Player came along and brought a little light into all that darkness. 🥹❤️
This story was exactly what I needed. It was sweet, heartwarming, funny, and so comforting that reading it felt like being wrapped in a cozy warm blanket. I loved Alexei and Stefanos so much. Their relationship was beautifully layered, especially Alexei’s gay awakening. It never felt rushed or abrupt. Everything unfolded naturally, and I loved watching them slowly understand each other and fall in love.
And if you're a You've Got Mail lover, you absolutely need this book! It has that same anonymous online connection, falling for someone you don't realize is right in front of you feeling, with such a sweet MM hockey romance twist. 🥹❤️
And the audiobook??? OH MY GOD. 😭
Walker Williams was so good as Stefanos. I could hear every bit of his uncertainty, fear, warmth, panic, and vulnerability in his performance. He made Stefanos so incredibly lovable.
But Silas Hart... sir. Honestly, excuse me for this, but your voice felt like hot chocolate on a chilly night. ☕🍫 Warm, sweet, caring, comforting... I wanted to keep listening just for your voice. What a freaking discovery. I am officially going into your catalog now. 😂🥹
This audiobook genuinely lifted something heavy off my chest. 5 stars for the audio, easily. ❤️
Unrecognizable Player is the third book in the Ivy League Players series. Stefano “Stefi” is an amazing Ivy League violinist. Alexei is the captain of the hockey team. Stefi is in a relationship with a man that has been gaslighting him. Stefi finds out that his boyfriend has cheated/ been cheating on him. He now is looking for a place to live. Alexei is looking for a new roommate. Alexei’s sister’s friend sends Stefano to be his new roommate. Alexei is still on the closest. He got on a book lovers forum. He started talking to HorrorBoy. HorrorBoy is the only person he has ever come out to. As time goes on Stefano finds out that Alexei is the guy he has been talking to about books and a bit more. Stefano is HorrorBoy. I really loved that they found each other online, but fate also brought them together in person too. They both were dealing with internal challenges. They help each other through their struggles. I really loved this book.
Walker Williams and Silas Hart did a fantastic job narrating this book in duet style narration.
