Sam Stone #1

Deep Down

Rate this book
Deep down, six hundred and forty feet underground, danger lurks...

Jenny Strafford and her fiance, Stone, are out for a dinner date with friends. It’s supposed to be fun, romantic even, but the setting leaves much to be desired, at least for Jenny. She’s not fond of enclosed spaces, and even less fond of being underground.

What starts out as a fun evening at an underground museum soon turns into a dangerous struggle to survive…

When the unthinkable happens, and a quarantine zone is initiated, Jenny soon realizes that the government agency that has been sent to help them isn't planning on a happy ending.

In order to protect Jenny, Stone must fall back on his military training. And even those hard-won skills may not be enough to save the love of his life, or the other one hundred innocent people trapped deep underground with them.

An all-new series with an all-new hero! Sam Stone will take your breath away.

I've always liked Dolly Parton, so I already knew a lot about her. Still, this book taught me more! She's just a fantastic person - talented, savvy, and generous. I love that the author mentioned Dolly's Imagination Library, which is a wonderful literacy program.

This book gets four stars because it felt kind of choppy and not as well organized as other titles in this series. But five stars go to Dolly Parton herself!

Dolly Parton is such a pop culture icon you could almost be forgiven for forgetting she's first and foremost a singer-songwriter — not to mention one of the biggest-selling and most heralded in history. (We said almost.)

Behind the hair and the make-up, the stand-up comedy quips and the acting gigs is a deep catalogue of country, folk, pop, bluegrass and various combinations thereof. That's why when Dolly, at age 70, announced her first proper North American tour in decades, so many music fans jumped at the chance to check this living legend off their concert bucket list.

Parton started her career in the 1960s, after leaving her rural Tennessee home for Nashville the day after high school graduation. Stardom came first on television, as a regular guest on the Porter Wagoner variety show. When she decided to go solo (an infamous split documented with great hilarity on an episode of Drunk History), she wrote a song about Wagoner you may have heard of called "I Will Always Love You." A savvy businesswoman from the start, Dolly denied a request for Elvis to cover it when his manager demanded half the songwriting credit, a decision that paid off when Whitney Houston's version made them both millions in 1992.

There have been many other great hits — "9 to 5," the Kenny Rogers duet "Islands in the Stream," perennial karaoke fave "Jolene" — but with four decades of work to her credit, there are also dozens and dozens of lesser-known gems waiting to be discovered.

An essential Dolly Parton playlist is filled with songs that will tug on your heart and lift your spirit. She writes about love and jealousy and betrayal, extreme poverty and pulling up your bootstraps, standing up for yourself and your family and, above all, keeping a positive attitude about whatever life throws your way. Her new release, Pure & Simple, is a collection of love songs that she self-produced. It's her 43rd record — which means there are more than 40 other records to spin if you really want to hear the gospel according to Dolly. I Highly recommend. She is honest, fun, and a wonderful entertainer.

Fasten your seat belts and get ready for a wild ride along with the main characters Stone and Jenny in a non-stop action story that I could not put down until I had finished it. This author certainly knows how to write a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review, and it is one that I definitely recommend to any reader who enjoys good clean action and suspense. I am definitely going to be watching for the next book in this series.

Deep Down by Janeen Worth is Very fast read. Stone and Jenny attend dinner theater in an underground theater where the unthinkable happens. They end up stuck when down in the theater when an exhibit is compromised. I will not give any spoilers away here. I encourage everyone to pick it up.
I will give one "warning". If you are a Christian who does not like ANY language in your books then this is not for you. It s not over the top or vulgar just there. No real references to God so I know some of you will be upset about that.
Overall a good story.

Extreme suspense. I don't always read suspense books, but this one grabs you from the beginning and is explosive to the end! Stone and Jenny are engaged and go to a salt mine museum for a dinner theater and what happens next is Deep Down suspenseful! There are no Christian undertones in this book although I did find it inspirational in how some of the characters responded to situations

Just WOW!!!

I really liked this story. I loved the fact that Stone and Jenny didn't just randomly kill people even if they deserved and also didn't kill them because of things needed to survive. I also liked the fact that romance was not center stage to the story it was the plot. I liked the danger and how it seemed real... I would like to read more novels concerning Stone.
