A Useful Textbook

A number of reviews elsewhere really bring this book down. I disagree. The author makes legitimate and effective attempts at humor and approachability in the writing while conveying a broad survey of research methods for educational researchers. This is likely to be in the mix for reference as I work through my dissertation. Good textbook.

Very good overview of educational research. Delves into each type of research, the best practices, what to look for in evaluating research, and more. I found it very helpful in developing my research proposal for my M.Ed.

If you want a basic overview of research methods within education, this is the book for you.

It does a good job of giving you examples to help you better picture type of research and better understand.

This was like a minefield of statistics and data interpretation. I appreciate it for its helpfulness in my journey toward a literature review but can't say I'd pick this up for light reading any time soon.

Overall this was a very informative book. It could be written in a way that is more entertaining and less dry though.
