Nightshift nursing supervisor Miki Murphy enjoys her work and most of her colleagues at South Florida's Medical Center by the Sea. But things turn ugly when, one by one, staff members are found murdered, each with a Bible verse on a card, signed "thus saith the lord." Miki, always nearby when the murders are discovered, becomes a suspect. When events point to Miki as a target of the lord's wrath, she turns to the police for help. None is forthcoming. So Miki is forced to discover the lord's identity herself.
the lord is a suspenseful and exciting mystery, replete with intriguing characters, a tense and engaging plot, and an entirely believable resolution. Gregg E. Brickman's career in nursing has provided her with the background to make the hospital setting vivid and realistic.
Best of all, Miki Murphy is a character to admire. Her inventiveness, backbone, and spirit brand her as one strong lady. This reader rooted for her all the way through the book. I'm hoping Gregg E. Brickman will pen more novels starring this memorable woman. If you enjoy mysteries featuring indomitable female protagonists,(and who does not?) the lord is an excellent choice.

The Chief of Staff Dr. Sanchez becomes ill while visiting a long-term patient and family. He dies in the Emergency Room. The medical examiner calls it undetermined, the nurses think it was murder.

The murderer has an agenda leaving bible verses on each body. His victims are members of the Emergency Room night shift.

Every time I decided I knew the murderer, Ms. Brickman would throw in a new clue, which caused me to reconsider. The ending came with a surprising twist.

I sought out this book to read because I enjoyed her Sophia Burgess/Ray Stone series. The cast of characters is well-developed and diverse, some are likable though some of them are not so likable. I was not disappointed.

I sent my thanks to Gregg E. Brickman, author of The Lord and Goodreads Frist Reads Giveaway for my copy of this murder mystery.

The location is a medical center in Southern Flordia. Someone is murdering in the medical center and leaving a card with a Bible verse. Misti, a nurse becomes a suspect and then an attempt is made on her but the police are no buying it; she is on her own in this thrilling 'who done it' novel.
