Eric thought he and his friends were safe from the people who wanted Lottie dead. But he was wrong. When they all join him in Houston to ring in a New Year, they discover these men are getting increasingly desperate to eradicate anyone who knows about Lottie’s existence – which means they are all targets now.
To make his life even more complicated, Eric finally meets the woman of his dreams while he’s trying to unravel this new mystery of who wants his friends and him dead now. And he will have to decide between his love for the woman he’s been waiting for and the friends who are depending on him to survive.
Insurrection is the second book in the Resurrected series and continues the story of Lottie’s resurrection and the dangers she and her friends face because she exists.
Insurrection the second book in the Resurrection Series.
Eric's point of view is great. It really brings the series together when you get to see how each character feels about the others through the different point of views.
The humor is great. Eric is a caring guy but also a huge smart ass. The relationship between Eric and Dietrich reminds me of my boyfriend and his best friend. The bromance is real. Never a dull moment.
I did feel like sometimes phrases were a bit repetitive. "Dietrich mumbled something in German" little things like that, but that was about it.
Great ending for the second book. Ready for the third!
This second book continued the riveting story that was started in book one, just from a different point of view.
Warning: there are spoilers in this review! Do not read further unless you want the story ruined!
In this installment of the series, we get the honor of reading things from Eric's POV. Eric, best friend to both Dietrich and Lottie from the first story in the trilogy, tells about his experiences. After almost losing his best friend to a gunshot at the end of book one, and after thinking Lottie was gone from their lives for two years, he is definitely the biggest fan for Lottie and Dietrich's reunion. He is happy that they are finally getting their chance to start a family.
He has always been the never settle down type. In his line of work, it can be very dangerous and it can be difficult trying to have a relationship when the CIA sends you out on top secret assignments all the time. At the end of the first book, Lottie and Dietrich moved back to Dietrich's birthplace in Berlin, Germany. Eric was reassigned a new partner Mark, and Lydia had been staying with him since the kidnapping. After a while, Lydia moves in with Don, one of her family's old friends from their old planet. He is like a father figure to Lydia and she has him teaching her self defense and how to fight back - which Eric has also been helping with. Lydia wants to help Eric and the CIA take down the group of men who have been making money from this body snatching business from her home planet. She is tired of being the victim.
When Dietrich and Lottie come to visit for New Years, there's a threatening note left on her former best friends grave threatening Lydia's life. Eric and Dietrich end up working together again to try to end the threat against Lottie and Lydia. However, in the midst of their investigation, Eric meets a woman that changes everything for him, Elena. When he is near her, the world fades away and she is instantly attracted to him as well. The problem is, her father may be more involved than any of them know and because of Eric's tunnel vision where Elena is concerned, Eric is missing many clues that could be life threatening to Dietrich and Lottie.
Dietrich and Lottie end up leaving and not telling Eric where they went and Eric feels betrayed at first, like he is having to choose between his future and his past. But as more evidence stacks against Elena's father, Gary, Eric decides to take a step back and focus on the investigation. He does send Elena a letter letting her know she is the one for him and that he loves her no matter what, knowing he may end up being the one to take out her father if Gary is as involved as everyone seems to believe he is.
Lottie's mother ends up getting kidnapped in an attempt to draw Lottie and Dietrich out of hiding but Eric goes in again and offers himself up as a hostage, and ends up saving her.
There are more plot twists and turns, but I don't want to spoil it all, so if you haven't read this series yet, you really need to. Will Eric get his happily ever after or will he lose the woman he loves and the best friends and family he's had for years?

Ok wow, such a great 2nd book in this series! It was pretty cool that this book was told from the perspective of Eric and I really enjoyed watching him fall in love. At first I really didn't get how what he had done was such a huge problem, but then the emotional fallout from it all was shown so well that my heart hurt for him and Elena. I know I'm repeating myself but it is such a great, great book! On to the last one!
Actually surprised my review for this book didn't transfer from Amazon Kindle! I must say that I'm currently reading the latest from this author, Peyton's Myth. I can't get enough of her imaginative stories. I curse my body when my eyes begin to close involuntarily because I want to stay in the story! Oh, yawn! I've done it again! Please all readers who love Scifi , romance, mystery, and intrigue..buy this writer's books!
