December is traditionally associated with anticipation of the upcoming holiday season, but for many high school seniors, December is packed with last minute college applications and essay writing. While December brings about the end of the college applications, the beginning of the journey traces back many months, even years. This book is a personal account of this journey, and it traces the process from the first budding college dreams all the way to the final college decision. My college application process was not simple and was dotted with mistakes and lack of information. Some applicants are lucky enough to have a personal coach for every step of the process, but this book details the knowledge I gained on my own, often through trial and error. The earlier in high school applicants begin reading this book, the more they stand to gain. I was lucky enough to attend an excellent high school and have the guidance of exceptional and caring counselors, but there were still many things I wish I had known earlier. The main reason behind this book is the hope that future seniors will be able to avoid the same mistakes I made and ultimately be successful in their college applications.
