To all appearances, Jonathan Hall is an intelligent, friendly eleven year old.
But when hes has one of his strange fits, he changes; he's violent, crude and uncontrollable. For years his mother has tried to shelter him. But Jonathan knows his condition is growing worse, and fears he's going mad.
For all their elaborate theories and exhaustive tests the doctors and psychiatrists cannot reach a diagnosis. By now they are obsessed with cracking the bizarre puzzle - if necessary at the expense of Jonathan's personality, his sanity or even, if they go ahead with experimental surgery, his life. Yet somewhere in his mind the boy hears a small voice crying for help. Just a faint, far cry......
Ok 80,s horror short story. A little stilted two dimensional with not a lot going on. Is Jonathan hall possessed by another or is he just ill? Can frank fuller and the good Doctor Lawrence solve this mystical mystery and will good boy Frank be successfull in bedding the lovely Mrs Hall? Thankfully I was pleased that the story did not exceed 250 pages and franks frantic antics were beginning to bore me. So if the excitement is too much seek out a copy on the net or do the sensible thing and read something else
Okay read. Didn't agree with the psychiatrist treating the boy without his mother's consent. Definitely some outdated terminology with regards to mental illness. The mother needed to lighten up and let her boy get the treatment he needed.
When I rate this book a 3 star, it isn't because i didn't like this book, I just think there was nothing spectacular in the book. I was really intrigued with the ending which made it a good ending. Also the characters were really like-able. It was a great short novel.
