Fade Back

Rate this book
Any way you slice it, Becka Treadway is one hell of a sexy girl, drawing stares wherever she goes. Eager to complete her looks with a daring tattoo, she hurries on perfectly sculpted legs to her appointment at the tattoo shop, unaware of the surprise that awaits her there.

The popular and gorgeous Becka lives her life to the fullest these days. Glad her days as a computer geek are in the past, she has embraced her new lifestyle to the extreme. Partying is the name of the game for her now, at the club where she works as a promoter, and where everyone loves her.

A perfect life for a perfect girl. Well, it would be except lately, it seems she's missing out on something, the end of each day leaving her feeling empty. She can't pinpoint what's bugging her, though, and she'll never admit she's anything less than happy. In an attempt at vamping up her image, hoping it will brighten up her days and nights as well, she decides to get a tattoo, since that's what all of the cool girls at the club do.

That's how she meets Fitz Dixon, a renowned tattoo artist, and for the first time in months, it feels like she's met someone real. Becka can't stop falling for him, and she can't help herself from smiling all the time now, the stupid drugged smile of a girl falling hard for possibly the first real man she's ever met.

Fitz, though, is hesitant to jump into things initially, but the two can't resist each other and dive head first into a whirlwind romance, hearts bared and arms open. However, after their first date, Becka finds something on Fitz's phone that stops her cold and makes her bolt from his place without an explanation.

That's how it should have ended. But crazy in love doesn't always lead a girl to do the wise thing. After much turmoil and soul-searching, Becka knows that she wants Fitz back, and that she's going to give it everything she can to make things work with the low-voiced drifter who sees life in such bright colors, burning with a fire that warms Becka’s very soul. Their hardship defines their love, and neither Becka nor Fitz wouldn't diminish it for all the world.

Fade Back is a 30K word steamy stepbrother novella, with scorching adult scenes and a happily-ever-after. No cliffhanger.

Aw

When Becka goes to get a tattoo little does she know that her life will be changed forever. Finn is a hot tattoo artist who Becka is attracted to instantly. They have sex, go on a date, have sex again.

The morning after Becka is nosing through his phone and she sees pictures and notices them to be of her step-mother. And that means, of course Finn is her step-father. Without explanation she runs out and disappears.

This was a very cute story and I absolutely adored Becka's character.

Refreshing characters, an engaging writing style, and a surprisingly original take on the stepbrother type of romance.

It's new, and nice, to me to find the nerd-girl who reinvents herself into a sex bomb that breaks male hearts without actually having too much action between the sheets. I liked the fact that she's found a freedom she thought she wouldn't have being her old self, but she still found it unfulfilling. Through a last act of defiance, a tattoo, she ironically crosses paths with another hot specimen who is more than what he seems.

It came as a surprise that he, being tattooed and gorgeous, didn't behave like an asshole. Both characters are hot, but they act sweetly to each other as their blushing, talkative yet sexy relationship slowly unfolds. I loved reading it.

And even though you expect how this is going to turn out, it still comes as a shock when they realize who they are to each other. It's all because of the storyline and how it presents the surprise. I really liked how the scenario played out.

I also had a soft spot for Jerome, Becka's friend and a party animal with a mind too witty for his own good.
The story is very well written in a colourful, insightful style that sets the mind frame of the lonely girl who becomes popular through sheer force of will and thinks she's found the Holy Grail of how to be cool and happy in life without anybody to hurt her. The forbidden romance is not loud and crazy, but realistic, sad yet hopeful. The author takes this relationship seriously, not as a means to tantalize, but as a vehicle to show two people destined to cross their paths and learn from each other, evolve into a better version of themselves through a battle for love.

I think this is the most developed, serious, romantic and sensual of all Stephanie Brother's stories I've read so far. Really good.

Becka Treadway is a girl who is unsure where she stands in life yet she goes to get a tattoo thinking it will make a statement about her life. She was the ultimate nerd in High School so in college she has changed her image after something happened to make her rethink everything about herself so she is Ms. Sexy now and Ms. Nerd is gone.

Enter Fitz Dixon, the tattoo artist -and they instantly have a connection. He is sexy, intense and the guy gives Becka the shivers. Definately in a good way- Fitz comes up with the perfect tattoo and when Becka gets the tattoo, well, after the chemistry is so good-the two decide to go out afterwards and everything is so good . It just continues but a sudden twist causes what was once good to just flip out of control. What was perfect goes so out of not perfect and shatters. Fitz and Becka find out they are related by marriage- their parents are married and they are step siblings. Becka is really and completely head over heels in love with Fitz. Does he feel the same, what will their parents say? All I can tell you is this is a terrific story and the sudden twist along with the sexy bedroom play is terrific. I loved the MC and how they were racked with guilt over what they thought was wrong. I thought it could have been taken down a bit and that Fitz should have been more apologtic toward Becka since she really was a bit younger and was more headstrong but overall, it had a great ending so that was fixable. The MC were wonderful and the secondary characters were great too. Fantatsic story and loved the ending. It was a wonderful standalone story which will satisfy anyone's HEA cravings.

My rating: 4.4 stars ****

Becka is a party girl. She is flirty, fun, and comes across as very shallow. No longer happy with her party girl facade. She just can't seem to figure out what she's missing.

Fitz is a brooding, sexy tattoo artist. He doesn't party. He is tired of the stereotyping that is directed at him. He is old fashioned, despite his ink.

When Becka and Fitz meet its hotter than molten lava. The attraction is undeniable as is the chemistry. The two of them behave so out of character, they aren't sure what to make of it. Until they realize they are stepsiblings, then the world stops turning.
Can they get through to their parents? Will Becka be able to convince Fitz that they are worth it?

I've read a lot of Stephanie Brother's books and just like all the others, Fade Back is a quick, steamy, great read. Fade Back is a story of how true love can survive obstacles and make you stronger. You get romance, humor, steamy sex, and then it all wraps up with a great HEA.

Becka wants a tattoo and walks into a tattoo parlor. She is introduced to Fitz who wants to create a tattoo that is right for her. Fitz seems confident at first but they more he talks to her and is around Becka, he becomes tongue tied and stutters. This didn't seem to fit the persona that was described. Fitz and Becka hit it off and one day when Fitz's in the shower, Becka glances at his phone and sees a picture that shatters her to the bone. She runs, leaving Fitz to wonder what happened. This was a unique read.

Stepbrother romances are not my favorites but this one is pretty good. Becka is a former nerdy girl who took steps to change that image. She decides to get a tattoo and falls for the sexy tattoo artist who designed a custom tat for her.

Fitz isn't your typical alpha hero, in fact, he shows that he has a soft side and deep feelings. This was a refreshing, if unusual, characteristic for the hero in a book.

This is a complete story with no cliffhanger! Yay!

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Fade Back maybe the best stepbrother book I have read. I liked the characters of Becka and Fitz, as well as the supporting cast. Becka was sensitive yet strong of heart, and Fitz was a sweetheart. It was like love at first sight. The premise was believable and I could sort of see why their parents were opposed to their dating. It was well written and the length told a complete story.

This is a really good story. It is interesting how two estranged step-siblings have a chance reunion, and don't recognize each other. The romance is hot, and the family drama is very stressful. However, true love must prevail. A great read with a happy ending.

It as ok. A bit short so could have made the build up longer and the ending was so rushed. But it as good. Neither amazing or bad.
