As an infant, Brielle was found abandoned with only the clothes she wore and not a clue as to where she came from. Despite this bleak beginning, she was fortunate to have been adopted by a loving couple and raised with all the benefits of an upper middle class existence. On the verge of graduation from college, and acceptance into the Medical School program, she has long since put the mysteries of her birth in the rearview mirror. She is tethered to the past by one tiny flaw; she sees, feels and hears things that aren’t real! Her visions have always been a part of her, and learning to cope with them over the years as therapists, medical trials and even ‘untraditional’ treatments failed, was just part of life as she knew it. Unfortunately, what was once just a nuisance to her mental state is escalating as each ‘episode’ becomes more violent and the visions threaten everything she has worked to accomplish.

Sarai’s parents have always lived outside the grasp of rational society’s rules and regulations. Having been raised in various communities around the country without the benefit of medical care, school or socialization, Sarai is able to explore the outside world only through the written word her mother taught her to love from an early age. Her mother is the one beacon of light in Sarai’s dark and miserable existence, along with the visions she enjoys of life out in the sunshine filled with laughter, joy and love. Despite the firm hand her father has always wielded on all aspects of her life, she will defy him to fulfill a strange request by her mother. That single moment’s decision will begin to unravel a mystery, decades in the making, which will propel Sarai on a journey toward self-discovery and escape from her father’s dictates. Unfortunately, as Sarai and Brielle’s paths hurtle towards an overlap, not everyone will survive the revelations of secrets better left buried.

I received "Discord" by Angelica Kate through a Goodreads contest. After reading the Prologue,I wasn't sure if I could continue reading this chilling book that includes the subject of child abuse.

I am so glad that I continued! "Discord" is a well written book that doesn't disappoint. My emotions were stretched, twisted, and undone by the plot and its characters.

This book, "Discord", made me sneak time in my busy schedule to read just a few more pages or sections within chapters. Sometimes one chapter wasn't enough.

Though I'm behind in discovering Angelica Kate as an author,I'm hooked.
My next book purchases will be from her book list.

Thank you Angelica Kate for "Discord".

Angelica Kate's generosity in offering copies of her book, Discord, was a very pleasant gift arriving in my mailbox. The story grabs your heartstrings right from the beginning prologue and continues throughout the book. What an intriguing dichotomy in the lives of two young girls. Even though this story is fictional, there is sadly a great deal of reality involved. I just wish that the ending was a bit happier. Discord is definitely a good read.

I received this book as a first read. What makes this book nice is that even though key aspects of the plot are predictable the story is engrossing enough that it makes you want to keep reading. The storytelling is good, the pace is fast, and the dialogue realistic. The story tackles some big issues which makes it an emotional read. The characters are well developed and the overall read while bleak is also inspirational. A sad but good read.

This book is a very good, suspenseful thriller. It keeps the suspense flowing ; your tummy contracts as you wait for the inevitable to come, but what will that be? It is about twins separated at birth, one stays with her mother and the other is adopted. As it is said of twins, they always stay connected. You will not want to put this down.

I received this book from goodreads. This book contains some subjects that are not intended for young readers. This book was really good. The ending was really sorrowful. I really liked how the author ended this book.

A suspenseful page turner!

This is such a well written book. It draws you in and may keep you up as you want to find out what will happen next in the very different lives of Brielle and Sarai. There is mystery, suspense, and romance in their stories. The characters are well developed and engaging. The plot moves along at a good pace. I really enjoyed this read and look forward to reading more of Angelica Kate's work.

I received this book for free from the Goodreads Giveaway.

Oh my! This was not what I expected the book to be. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, as I only skimmed the back cover, so I didn't entirely know what it was about. I started to read the book and had difficulty in the beginning chapters. It was because of my own personal taste and I have a hard time when books (or movies) jump from one person to another. It seemingly threw me in the middle of something that I wasn't sure what was going on. When I finally did get further in, I had difficulty putting it down. At some points the descriptions were hard to take and think about, but the pace of the story continued smoothly. I found myself invested in the characters, so with what happened at the end made me cry! I never expected the book to end like that because in the back of my mind I always think there has to be a happy resolution. There were a lot of...I don't want to say lessons.....but, maybe knowledge, to be learned from this story. The end did end up in its own way happy, but not in the traditional way.

This is not the normal type of books I read, but I sure am happy I kept going and finished it to the end. As much as it hurt at the end, I feel glad to have read the entire story. I know situations like that exist, but when I really think about it I don't know much about that kind of living or abusive ways. People can be horrible to one another, especially some fathers to their own children. I am thankful for the life I have led, and reading this enforced that feeling. I am only glad that Sarai got to know happiness and love after her more than difficult life. Reading her reactions to the simplest things in life, and how she had to learn to do what I do on autopilot everyday, made me think about and better appreciate what I have. Her childlike wonderment was touching and her capacity for touching others was amazing. This story will surely stay with me for a long time, if not forever! Thank you for the pleasure of reading your book.

A book you cannot put down till the end

I was confused by the cover at first but a few pages into the book and I understood what the cover meant.
With every page the Author draws you deeper into the feelings of the characters and with each emotional scene, you can't help being anxious when turning the page. The hint of romance was beautifully laced through this suspenseful story.
Angelica Kate gave such attention to detail, I can honestly say that I was so affected by Sarai's situation that I could feel her fear and hear my heart beating just as she did. I could even visualise the nightmares Brielle suffered with.
If you are looking for a suspense, crime, thriller, romance then this is the book for you.

I won a copy of this on Good Reads and I am so glad that I did! I loved the story and how it all unfolds. The first story follows Brielle, who was abandoned and as a result is trying to make sense of the world around her. The second part is the story Sarai and her survival in the most extreme situations. When the twos paths overlap, we find an interesting story with a plot that I don’t want to spoil for the reader. I appreciated that my book was signed and also came with a nice bookmark. Thanks for offering me the chance to read and review this one!
