It would not be fair to the author if you rated the book poorly based on personal feelings. Thank you and if you do decide to continue to read: Happy Reading!!!***
I've been an avid reader for a very long time. I used books as an escape and for a time it helped. I started to get interested in poetry. From there my love for writing grew. It started as just a hobby to help pass the time. Now, I get kind of twitchy if I don't write.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
The Heartbreak is a story that brought me on a roller coaster of emotions. One minute I'm laughing, the next I'm crying, and at another point I'm yelling at a particular character for being an absolute idiot.
Reasons why you should you read this story: 1) As soon as I started reading it I couldn't stop until I finished.
2) Ariana. I just feel so bad for her throughout the entire story. She's such a sweet girl and she didn't deserve what happened at all.
3) Skylar. There are moments when I love him and other moments where I absolutely hate him. He's also so mean to Ariana at times and that made me cry.
4) I LOVE COLIN SO MUCH! He's one of my favorite characters in this story and I am so happy that he has some parts in the book from his POV. I now seriously want a book all about him.
4) I love that this book is in the perspectives of Ariana, Skylar, Colin, and Michelle. All four of these characters have such depth and it was truly insightful and interesting to hear things from their points of view. It truly made me understand why certain characters did what they did.
5) OH MY GOSH THAT CLIFFHANGER! I wasn't expecting it at all and cried my eyes out. Also, when I finished reading the story I literally yelled "I need book 3 right now."
Overall, I absolutely love The Heartbreak and I highly recommend this book.
I was gifted with this book along with a million dollars to write the bestest, most positive review that I could. I'm happy to say that I don't have to worry about money for a while. :)
Okay, just kidding about the million dollars, but I did receive the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The Heartbreak picks up where Undying Love left off, some time after Skyler has gone to college, leaving his girlfriend Arianna ("Ari") behind. Skyler ("Sky")does his best to study, maintain his jockness--he might go pro one day--and along the way, meets his tutor (Michelle). One thing leads to another, and...
(Okay, here's a little spoiler, sorry, but it's necessary). Shock, you say. It can't be! Sky is cheating on Ari? Will their relationship continue? Well...no further spoilers, but let's say things do work themselves out in the long run, and it will be interesting to see how a third novella plays itself out.
The Heartbreak, while short, touches on a number of issues all young people in their teens have to face. The hard choices they make along with the mistakes. It's a fast-paced read (the PDF I received was only around ninety-five pages) and the characters were a little more fleshed out and likeable--and realistic--than in the first novella. Ari shows greater growth as an individual, becoming somewhat more altruistic in her approach to relationships as well as more mature.
In contrast, Sky is a bit of a dick in this one. He says he loves Ari, loves her more than his life, but there is that Michelle thing to consider...
Then there's Michelle, cold, calculating, but ultimately somewhat more redeemable by novella's end. And then there's Colin, briefly introduced as the lovestruck (for Ari) guy. But the real story is Ari and Sky finding and forgiving, and that's what it's all about.
What I liked about this novella is it's fast pace, quick setups, and alternating first-person POV's. The author takes great pains to make her characters sound different and that's also a plus.
What I would have liked to see was more physical description of the characters. Assuming one hasn't read the first in the series, you'd have no idea of what Ari, Sky and Michelle look like. As for the ages, I'm guessing that Sky is nineteen or so, while Ari would be around seventeen...so more description would have enhanced this novella. And Colin is there for one quick fly-by...in this reviewer's opinion, his presence doesn't enhance (nor does it detract from) the story. It would be best, I feel, to talk more about him in future stories.
Still, all in all, this was a nice summer read, and I'm interested to see how Ms. Connors handles any future installments.
***I was given a ARC in exchange for an honest review**
After reading the first book in this series I was hooked. I loved the innocent love between the two main characters. I couldn't wait to read the second book.
This book was nothing like the first book, which is good because we get variety on this series. We get drama, which I love. I was mad, I was sad, I was hopeful. Reading this book will get your emotions in a twist. You will cheer them on, you will want to slap them. Do you love first love, innocent love, soul mates? you will get that in this book. But don't confuse my words you will get some steamy scenes.
I can say the only thing I dislike is that I didn't get to see the tough Arianna I grew to love in the first book. I wish she would put on her tough pants and kick Skylar to the curve. She knew it would happen she told him a million times, yet she took it as nothing. He played the field, yet she cried in a corner hiding from anyone that wanted to be near her. *clearing throat..coughing...EX..clearing thought** Please badass Arianna come back in the third book.
I struggle with where exactly to start. I suppose I will start with a slight forewarning. This book contains something I really hate in books (I'm happy to tell you what it is if you message me. It's also on my blog version of the review. I just wanted to keep this version spoiler free). I was not prepared. It's something I personally don't care for in books, but I did not let that deter me from finishing it. And I'm glad. Because I did enjoy the rest of the story. It was just the one bad thing that really got to me.
This book starts not terribly long after the first one ends, with Sky going off to college and the consequences of that. I like that Arianna really grew a lot as a person. She seemed a lot less weird and insisting on being selfless (which ended up making her selfish by the way). She just wanted to be happy. And I really liked her a lot more in this installment of Undying Love. Skylar, on the other hand, I did not like so much in this book. He was wonderful in the first book. But he seriously screws up here and I kind of hate him for it. I don't get how Ari can't hate him too, but my opinion is my own.
Something that I absolutely love about this series is that it's short. That sounds weird when I say it. But I love short books. I like this new trend of having a series of novellas where you get a full story in a much shorter page number. Again, that's my personal opinion. If A Song of Ice and Fire were twelve books rather than five, I would be much more likely to finish the series. I'm a Pavlovian dog in need of a reward. And for me, finishing a book is my reward.
Okay so I got sidetracked there. Let's get back on track. If you like YA romance you will probably enjoy this book, as long as the thing doesn't bother you.
Note: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The Heartbreak is the second part of Isabelle's series #TheUndyingLove.
This story follows up part one in which Skylar left for another city for further studies in the end leaving a confused Ariana who thinks that distance will only grow them apart.
The story starts with both Skylar and Ari feeling incomplete without each other busy in their respective college lives. They loved each other and miss each other when Michelle enters Sky's life as his tutor. Michelle was attracted to him right from the very first time she saw him but sky was never interested in her. Their life takes a sudden turn when seduced by Michelle's continuous efforts, he spent a night with her with a deal that they don't and will never have a future together and whatever they are going to share is not love. That turn actually turns into a blind turn when she informs him that she is pregnant with his child.
Unaware of all this Ari is desperately waiting for Skylar to return for thanksgiving holidays.
What future has in store for them?
Will sky choose Michelle and his child over Ari or will he leave both of them to be with the love of his life?
Dive through this emotional love ride to find the answers that follow.
Positives: The entire story is well penned with most of the part being in dialogue form. Apart from discussing about sky's and Ari's lives it also describes the story from Michelle's point of view. Also, an excellent title is been chosen for this part. Though the language used is simple I did not found any grammatical errors. Targeting young readers the story creates much needed curiosity for the last part.
Negatives: The story only discuss about Sky, Ari and Michelle. No other character has been justified or added to the story track. The story could be more descriptive and a bit of unpredictability could have been maintained till the end. As I mentioned in the review of its first part that it lacked literature, I found it missing in part-2 as well. Also the book cover lacks in detailing the content present inside.
Final opinion:
The emotional turmoil through which Sky and Ari passes will connect you with the story and being a quick read, one can easily finish it off in one go.
Loving someone is easy but retaining that love being miles apart being in our limits is the only desire and demand of love. It’s easy to get carried away when provoked but the actual test and proof of love lies in knowing your limits and being in line with them. The way in which both of their mindsets, ability of accepting the wrongdoings by Sky and still acceptable unconditional love from Ari's side will definitely liked by those who believe in love.

Yep. Perfect title for this one. I'm heartbroken. I was so mad at Sky I could've broken his neck! I really did not like a great deal of this one, as what I wanted to happen did not. So, clearly this has become personal to me. I'm mad ay a book character, lol. I don't like Sky's choices in this book. He is a bad boy and I'm irritated with him. Ari does grow up a great deal in this story, though. I'm not happy with all of her decisions either. So, I guess I will go pout now until I get to see how this is resolved in another book. I'll be waiting...
I was reserving judgement and hoping for a stronger second book.but this one is just a continuation of the first with too much weak dialogue too keep the rhythm of the story going.i really want to love this story but as a hard core fan of Raven st Pierre this author has big shoes to fill in that regard...I am reading hint of gravity and also tethered in this book and if you have read either of those you will know what I mean.
