The Indwelling of Jenny

Rate this book
Between the depths of Hell, and the purity of Heaven, lies the earth, and mortal life. God as Creator rejected five demons at the beginning of time, and sent them to Lucifer, to be his children. In the Indwelt series, mortal life is a premium, but mortals themselves are merely vessels for a demon's pleasure. Wargel, the capricious, bloodtthirsty youngest child of Satan, has escaped the portals of hell, seeking a host for his presence. Jenny McArthur, eight years old and innocent, is a child the demon chooses for his own. He enters her mind through the portal of her left eye, and inflicts himself upon her for twenty years, creating havoc in the world and on Jenny. What happens to her, and her family, is tragic. Whenever darkness falls, it pushes light into a hidden corner, but cannot extinguish it. This is true of Jenny McArthur, who comes to believe her life is worth something, and her soul cannot be taken away by the presence of evil. In this first book of the Indwelt series, Jenny is someone near the edge of reality who is constantly surprised by supernatural forces of both good and evil.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review. With that being said, here is my review: I had mixed feelings about this book. The idea of having a demon inside of you since you were a little girl is a great concept for a novel. I just didn't think that this book went far enough. Some of the plot twists were great, but were brought down a bit by mediocre characters and a somewhat weak story line. Where there could have been some intense scenes, I feel that the author rather glossed over them, with no detail. And, you know what they say...'The Devil Is In The Details!' The ending was a real disappointment for me as well. In closing, it seemed more like a YA horror novel than a scary horror novel.

A fresh, harrowing, and riveting tale of demonic possession. Great characters and an intricate plot. I was enthralled throughout. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

I normally don't read fantasy novels unless it is by an unusually good author I have read before, but I wanted to read this book by Linda Davis because I follow her and read everything she writes. Davis did not let me down with this one. Since this is touted as Book 1 of the Indwelling series, I will continue reading. The story is not so out in left field that I had the feeling of "that was weird" when I finished the book. Great job Dunlap, again you did not disappoint. Anxiously awaiting Book 2.

Jenny is a young women in her 20's on death row for murder. As the story develops you learn more of the circumstances that put her there. Jenny is just a young child when the demon Wargel inhabits her body enabling him to control her actions according to his desires. Jenny tries to control Wargel as much as she can, and this means she avoids certain relationships because she is worried what he will do. But even as careful as she was his actions land her in trouble. Will she finally find a way to rid herself of the demon?

Great read

I totally enjoyed this book. Once I started reading I didn't want to stop. The story pulls you in and makes you feel the pain or sorrow of the main character. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone who enjoys feeling empathy or sympathy for a character. You won't be disappointed.

Evil exists

A well written story about the power of evil and one young women's attempt to overcome it. I wasn't too sure if I was going to like the story when I started this book, but I found it enticing to read. Even has a surprise ending!

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! The characters are well-rounded and believable. The story is chilling in many places but its "real" and believable.

Great Read!

This was a very easy book to read and follow. I really enjoyed the twist ending. It has a bit of mystery, thriller, romance and heroism in one story. I would recommend this for those who enjoy those e!ements.
