A Girl with SkillRandy Carter's pa was once a famed Texas Ranger and the list of those who want to see him dead is long. After her pa is gunned down in a cold-blooded act of revenge, the injured sixteen-year-old is fearing for her life when she decides to leave the New Mexico Territory to head west with her temperamental horse Al, her gun Pearl, and the ashes of her family as her only companions.
A Horse Thief with Heart
All Trevor wants is a decent horse. When he sees the best-looking horse he's ever laid eyes on and tries to steal it, his plans are foiled by a very sick girl with a mean punch. When he decides to save her life instead, he is smitten.
The Gambler
When she starts her journey again with her newly besotted traveling companion, Randy runs into an old family friend that knows she's a great shot, a skilled sharpshooter of the likes of Annie Oakley. Bronson has no problem showing off what Randy is capable of to make easy money for them all.
Randy might be a prodigy with a gun but becoming legendary as Miranda Carter was not what she was looking for. Neither was falling in love. Because no one knows Randy’s pa is gone, the outlaws are hot on their tail and dead-set on revenge.
What must Randy sacrifice to find the peace she was looking for?
A very enjoyable story that keeps you interested from start to Finnish looking forward to more books from the author recommend this book to anyone who loves a good western story
A good story of a young girl who lost her mother, and now her father who died in her arms after he was murdered by men seeking revenge. The ending throws you off, because it's not expected, especially with a woman, whose death was faked so that the men who still think her father is dead will stop hunting her. Miranda's father was well a well known Texas Ranger who was relentless when he was on a trail of owlhoots. If her death was confirmed by an obituary, Miranda aka Randy would have peace from those who wanted to challenge her and gain a reputation as the gunman who killed James Carter's daughter..
I mostly enjoyed the first couple of chapters, before they meet Bronson, her father's friend, I didn't like the direction he took them on, and several times I thought 'not again' since them being attacked by the people her father sent to prison become a bit tiring because it felt routine. The characters were alright but quite flat, and when I finished the book I didn't feel like I want to know what will happen next.
For a western with a female protagonist, I was rather pleased with this book. There's not many western books with a strong female protagonist and this is one of the few I found. It does have romance, but it's not really prominent until the later chapters. I definitely recommend this to anyone that is looking for a western with a strong female protagonist in it.
The books have been marvelous and I thank you for them. I have enjoyed each and every one. You have done an excellent job. Thank you for introducing these people into my life. I am enriched. Bill M
This book started out all right then it got worse. I will not try to read another book by this writer. Monsoons in North America are like turkeys in Europe during the Middle Ages!
The book has a good story line but I thought the girl would be a lot tougher than she was. She just followed along with the others most of the time. Needs more action.
I enjoyed the vivid description of life in the West, and the story and characters were well-developed. Not a five-star review because of all the grammatical errors.
I almost didn't read this book! Started to delete it twice in the first chapter, and ended up loving it! Great storyline if you love western stories and tough women!
Now this comes to me. I just sent a review on Facebook about the book. I enjoyed the book very much. I am not buying any more books for awhile but will keep this author in mind. Thanks for a well written book. Don
Am having a hard time finishing this book. So boring because every chapter is like Groundhog day. Same events, same evil, just different town. Too many untruths in this Western book. This author could romanticize death squads in another time period. This is a Fairy Tale of Western Life.
