Jade spent her life hidden away from the world but when tragedy strikes her home she has to set out to discover what she can about the family she never knew. In a world where people are afraid of sorcery and anything that is different she finds herself in the custody of men who are working for Mona, the woman she was trying to escape.
Angela was born and raised in Iowa, in a river town known for its pearl buttons. Having four siblings, she never lacked for someone to play with. As she grew older, she found herself pulled into books and writing more and more. Her parents are her heroes, her siblings her confidants and tormentors, and her children her wonderful blessings.
When I have time, I'll try to write a full review but in the meantime, I really loved this book. I mean if you're the type of person who questions every single detail you may have some problems (if you read it you'll understand), BUT I"M NOT, so I didn't care about some things and instead just enjoyed the story that was before me and ended up loving it. I'm already looking forward to the next book (there better be one!!).
I'd like to start off by saying that the cover is beautiful. I only wish that the girl had green eyes instead of brown since it's so promenant in the book. With that being said, I really liked this book. It was sweet, it had adventure, danger, magic and inspiration. Jade is sweet and kind and treats everyone with respect and always takes time to pray. She always looks for the good in people and in tough situations.
Jade and Blaise met saving each other and quickly fell in love. They soon set off on a journey that would end up changing both of their lives forever. This was a fun read! It was like having your own little fairy tale unfold right before your eyes. I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the sequel!
This is a great Rapunzel retelling, possibly my favorite yet. Its only problem was that it's too short. Jade and Blaise were great characters, and the world was very fun, if a little eccentric. Similar to What Comes Of Attending the Commoner's Ball in some ways.
It seemed like a cozy read to me, which maybe just means that I read and have read wayyy too many thrillers and books with plots twisted tighter than a double pretzel. Because yes, people might die, but doesn't that happen in every novel? 🤭
As with The Guild of Thieves, I bonded with the character who had to go
Incredibly spellbinding! This is an epic coming-of-age set in fantasy. Jade has secret powers. She lives with her adopted parents Mona and Stephen locked away on a farm away from the city and other people. But when Stephen is mortally wounded and dies he tells Jade she must run away and be free at last from Mona who seeks to use her for her powers. As she teams up with a new partner (Blaise) she sets out on a quest to find her family & to learn her history. Can she find out the truth about herself and, most importantly, learn to use her powers? Or will the villagers burn her at the stake as a witch? Perfectly written, this story is very well told! The story and dialogue are easy to follow. The plot keeps you going till the end. Great beginning, great middle, great ending. Great book. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy novels with a touch of romance.
