The "sound bible" of the era.
A succinct measure of all studio techniques for analogue recording.
I have the updated version printed in 1982.
Contextually, 'old hat'.
Its simplicity denies its importance for the digital age, describing the technique behind the robot version that we've adapted to these days, with tweaking that attempts to add warmth and tone which the digital age will always lack.

I trained in sound engineering but don't use this 'engineering context anymore. Though I still think its merits hold up in the modern age, addressing spatial qualities and the use of mics (the hardest lesson for sound peeps, I reckon. Use your ears! Easier said than done.)
