Jade:

It's supposed to be simple. I'm the good girl, he's the bad boy. We're at a party. We get drunk. His eyes are all over me... so I let him be all over me. Simple as that. One crazy night with the sexiest guy in the world. Stripping away all my innocence.

When I meet him, my life forever changes...

Jake:

Yeah, I knew the truth of it all. And you know what? I didn't give damn about it. I take what I want and I forget everything else. So when Jade sees me standing there, being introduced as her new stepbrother, the look on her face is priceless. But something else starts to happen... it turns me on. She's too pretty and way too tempting to be around.

I like it. I like her. I like us.

She's so innocent and so good. And she has no idea.

It's wild and it's fun... just as long as we don't get caught - or fall in love.

Yeah, right.

Jade’s whole life is dictated by her father and his professional aspirations. She lets loose one night only to find out later, her one night stand is part of the “family”. Jade’s dad is a total control freak and she’s just a pretty prop to him. Jade and Jake’s parents getting married was a calculated move but it’s slightly unclear whether that was the only reason they got married.

Jade and Jake have trouble keeping their distance and its only made worse when their proximity increases and Jake is forced to move into Jade’s dads home to play the happy family. This book was quick with some smut, fighting and enough intrigue to make we want to read the next.

Mild spoilers

Review edited.

First I'll start by saying the book is riddled with grammatical mistakes, missing words, incorrect words used and strange jumbled sentences.
The errors started to really annoy me. The author could do with editing the book again.

E.g.

The author keeps using the word to instead of on.
It's like the book has been translated incorrectly.

I'm giving this book 2.5 stars because it's pretty average but it's better than some of the stepbrother romances I've read recently.

There's Jake, the bad boy who has a dirty mouth and seems to think and talk about sex non-stop. He worships his own d***.
I noticed that Jake switches quite a lot throughout the book. He's helping her when she's puking one day and the next morning he's talking to her in such a derogatory manner. They both have issues with their parents but Jake seems to hide behind his bad boy image to hide his pain.

I did not like the little flashbacks to their one night stand dotted throughout the first few chapters. I wish the author had just started the book off with Jake and Jade's one night stand and moved onto their next meeting.

The relationship between Jade and her father was interesting. If I had a father like that I'd want to be a million miles away from him.

The sex scenes were a little better than some of the stepbrother romances I've read recently too. Jake is controlling in bed but his obsession with

I don't think I'll be getting the next book in the series because I'm not invested in this story enough and the errors put me off. I don't want to read a book and have to edit in my head continously.

**If you are a book snob and cannot stand grammatical errors, then stay away, BUT, if you can look past this needing a good edit, then I recommend it. I'll say I consider myself rather picky when it comes to spelling and missing punctuation, but I have learned over time to focus on the storyline, character development and ultimate build-up in a plot.

I am sitting here trying to figure out when the next installment is coming out because I want to know what happens, so I'd say 'mission accomplished' on a successful story.

Personally, I love the 'stepbrother' genre, it's naughty but so overly taboo, that I find myself completely hooked. I mean come on, the temptation under the same roof, perhaps in the next room over with a common wall, who can resist?

This is a story of a good girl/bad boy finding it hard to resist one another, throw in some dysfunctional parents and obstacles and it makes for a deliciously intoxicating plotline.

I am now invested in seeing this through and want to know what comes next with Jade and Jake.

Give it a chance, I think you'll find it an enjoyably steamy read!

Yeah, well.. that was pretty bad.
I have no idea how in hell this book got all those positive reviews so far, so maybe it's just me, who knows? But there were so many things that bugged me.

Let's start with the most obvious. The book could really use an editor. Usually, grammatical errors don't bother me that much, probably because I'm not a native English speaker and, you know, glass house and stones and stuff... But there were just too many mistakes to ignore, even for me. Switching between past tense and present tense (sometimes even within a sentence), missing words, wrong spelling... you name it.

Then, there were the characters. The problem was, there weren't really any characters. The only thing I found were stereotypes. Shallow, clichéd caricatures.
The heroine is supposed to be an innocent, ambitious college student, rich but surpressed by her father - naturally, she's the most beautiful little thing ever, but she doesn't know it; the hero is the exact opposite, a foul-mouthed, drug abusing, troubled but sexy-as-hell bad boy. In reality, Jade is just some pathetic, lame horndog who doesn't know how to stand up for herself, while Jake is a promiscuous, disrespectful brat.
Even the secondary characters were nothing more than clichés. The power-hungry, unloving father. The quirky, gorgeous best friend. The weak, fucked-up (step-)mother. The sleazy, rich secondary love interest with an agenda.
There wasn't one character I found even remotely interesting or likable.

I wasn't expecting much of a story, so at least I wasn't disappointed there. But I hoped that it would at least be a sexy read, even though I didn't like the characters. But Ms. Hayes wouldn't even give me that. The sex scenes were awkward at best, Jade's inner monologues ruining everything.

The reason why I didn't give this book a 1 star rating was that I somehow managed to read all of it without hanging myself. Also, it was a freebie on Amazon and, therefore, I didn't have to spend money on it.

Will I buy the next book in this series? Hell, no. Despite a huge cliffhanger at the end, I couldn't care less what happens next.

OMG! This is intense. If you enjoy bad boy dominance, sweet and innocent girls, and all the naughty between the two, this is the book for you. This book is packed full of excitement, dominance, hot and steamy sex scenes, and smug and pretentious, rich parents who only want what’s best…for themselves that is.
As Jade and Jake attempt to live in the same house, and survive, they stumble on a few secrets, both about themselves and the rest of the “family”.
The author has given us a plot unlike the others, and has blown it wide open, letting it fall in many different directions, leaving us wondering where she is going with it, yet building the excitement as she goes. The characters are strong, yet giving us small glimpses of what they are feeling deep down, even though that is not what they portray to the general public. Is Jade really the pure little rich “daddy’s girl” that everyone thinks she is? Is Jake really the badass trouble maker he makes everyone think he is?
This book ends in a bit of a cliffhanger, only leaving us wanting more sooner than later.
Great read!

Poor Jade- she thinks she has met this terrific guy and he slept with her and totally blew her off. Never heard from him again –Now she has run into him again. She took that heartbreak and channeled it into this song and she is due to debut it tonight in the pub/bar with her friend being her support. Only thing…well that guy, he is here too-she didn’t know until she came across him screwing another woman in the ladies bathroom- Jade was in shock and this guy, whose name is Jake, really seems to enjoy putting on such a perverted display for her. My heart bled for her. Reminds me of boys who pull on girls hair and do things to torment then, all because they like them and do not know how to tell the truth but just want to have a form of some contact. Jake and Jade meet up end of the evening outside of the bathroom and they have words-hers were heartfelt and a throwback to why he never got back in touch after they were last together and Jake just slammed the door on their ever being another time and pretty much said some hard and nasty things to Jade. But words came come back to haunt
Now this Jake guy, he at first comes off as the nastiest piece of work you will ever come across. Hooking up in women’s restrooms, propositioning other women at same event where you were “knocking boots” with first one and propositioning others. But what you have is this young man who is a scared kid on the inside, much like Jade. Jake really digs Jade but he doesn’t want to “like” her so he just behaves horribly to her. He figures he will never run into her again. Wrong!
Jade goes to a family lunch that her father calls to over to and finds out that her father is re-married and he is re-married to Jake’s mother Rebecca Preatt and that makes her son, Jake Ziggen her new step brother. The following twists and turns in this story even better and steamier than the beginning of this story. Jade’s father is practicing deceit; this makes you wonder about him and his true feelings toward his daughter. Does Jade and Jake end up together, will Daddy Dearest be exposed ?
This story will not be wrapped up and there is going to be a book two but some of the questions regarding Jade and Jake’s relationship will be answered but more will come up. I loved how this story took me on a roller coaster. I cannot wait for book two. The only thing I would have liked to know is more about Jake’s background in this story , to get the background on him and a little more on Jade and why her father acts the way he does. But that is in my opinion. Other than that, this is a great story and I cannot wait for book two.

My rating: 4.2 Stars ****

I went back and forth between giving this three or four stars. I decided my final rating is a 3.75, but I like to give the extra star when a rating is between two numbers.
The biggest reason why I rated it at this was the errors. I understand that it is almost impossible to publish a book without a single grammar or spelling error. I would be shocked to find one. But this had too many in my opinion, that I ended up being distracted from the novel itself. That made me sad, because I did really enjoy the story, even if it is more risque than I am used to.
Honestly, if I had not known there was going to be a sequel, I would have rated this only 3 stars. However, I assume that the author would have worked the ending differently, hopefully prolonged it, if there was not to be a sequel.
I realize that their relationship was pretty messed up. However, given the things in life that both of them had gone through, I didn't really expect anything more. For that reason, I felt it was more believable. I am still curious as to what exactly happened with Jake's mom, but obviously it messed him up pretty badly. And it sounds like, prior to his death, the father was not a very nice person. So he did not have any good guidance of what a man should be like as he was growing up. There is definitely a soft spot to Jake though, which we can see at times like when he is defending Jade and nursing her.
I think Jade just finally snapped. Otherwise, her going so far out of character confuses me. She has also had a hard life, despite her dad being rich, and it has jaded her (yes, pun intended there). But I was surprised that she changed that much, that quickly. The entire book takes place within a week.
The other thing that bothered me with this story was the flashbacks. Sometimes I had no idea that we were even IN a flashback! I had to reread several different parts, trying to decide if it was taking place in the present or the past.
Overall, I did enjoy this. And I definitely will read the sequel.

Jade is the good girl who always does what she’s told by her father. One night while he’s out, she does something she’d never normally consider: she hooks up with the campus bad boy. No big deal until it’s sprung on her that her dad has married his mom. Jake goes out of his way to live a wild, uncomplicated life. He’s not sure why he’s drawn to Jade the way he is. He just can’t resist temptation.

This is another step-brother book that seems to be the trend right now. The author paints a world less clean cut than a lot of the books I read, where you have the main male character, Jake, who does nothing but party and screw around. He’s doing his best at being a loser with no goals in his life. Jade is the pretty typical female lead in this story. She’s always done what she’s told and her biggest rebellion up to this point is sneaking out to open mic night while her dad isn’t around. The one that is fascinating to read about at this point is Jake. He doesn’t know why at this point, but he starts to be drawn to Jade. There’s no real evidence of him redeeming himself at this point, but I got to know him enough that want to keep reading to find out if he does get better. This is the same reason I only gave the book 4 stars. While I want to see what happens with Jake, I can’t figure out what Jade’s big continual attraction to him is, unless it’s an underlying rebellion. I’ll be interested to see where the author takes it in the next release.

3.5 star Review Bad Lust - A Stepbrother Romance (A Step Over the Line Book 1) by Aurora Hayes

This is the first erotic book by Aurora Hayes and is an erotic contemporary romance.

What starts out as a one night stand between good girl Jade and bad boy Jake morphs into an extremely complicated and almost forbidden infatuation which may well end in love or destroy them and those around them in the process.

Jade is a wealthy and overprotected young lady with a domineering father. Jake is a bad boy through and through. Or is he?
Circumstances bring these two together again in a way neither of them expected. The mutual attraction they have for each other would be considered forbidden by many. Depsite doing their best to fit the sizzling attraction, desire build between Jade and Jake to an explosive reunion. Part of the fun is knowing that they may well get caught. What is really surprising and to know one more than Jake is the need he feels to protect and look after Jade. Something he never thought he would ever want to do. His normal motto is to bed them and leave. With Jade the pull to her is something Jake doesn’t understand. However in a life altering decision, Jake decides to stay and keep Jade “safe”. What will Jake do and will Jade find out what her father is planning? Be warned though that this book ends with on a cliff hanger.

I look forward to seeing where Ms Hayes takes this story in her next book Bad Heart.

Jake Ziggen was a bad boy. He was a boy every father feared and every mother and daughter had wet dreams about. He believed in fighting, sex, and drinking. He was having fun until he got a taste of Jade Werlem.

Jade was a good girl, almost to good. She was the talk of most guys. They figured she would not even now how to give a good BJ because she seemed just to perfect and innocent. But Jade long for Jake. He was the bad boy she craved and now to get a chance at him. Hell Yeah!!! Well until she found out he was was her stepbrother, but can she find a way to resist the temptation of such a hot bad boy?

Now for Jake and Jade to find out they were going to be step siblings. How funny is that. I did not like Jade’s father at all. Nor did I like Jake’s mother. It is sad that Jake and Jade got stuck with such bad parents.

I love this that this book has the taboo of step siblings. I truly find it hot and sexy. Of course there are some truly hot steamy parts in the book. There will be time you will need a cold shower, but this book is so worth the read. So can not wait for the next book to come out.

I normally do not like stepbrother books but decided to give this one a try because I really love this author's alter and boy did I like this book and I am waiting for more in this series. NOTE THERE is a CLIFF HANGER it is a series if book 1 part didn't tell you that.

Jake Ziggen is the jerky college boy is is good looking and can get any girl to drop their panties for him to screw or will suck him off with a look from him. You know the type. Then there is Jade Werlem. She is a rich girl who has been sheltered her whole life by her dad and kept under lock and key and the only way she gets out is by sneaking away from her guards.

So Jade had a one screw stand with Jake and she thinks he did not recognize her when she saw him screwing a chick in the bathroom at a club she was at. Come to find out of course he did. Bigger surprise is coming up that he knows but she has no idea ... they are step siblings, SURPRISE~
This story is hot and steamy and it is also has parts that made me want to throw my kindle up against the wall since I could not throw it upside Jake's head or Jade's father or her step mother. I am so ready for BOOK 2.

This is one author to follow!!!!

Ok. if you dont mind taboo subjects.
Like the bad boy object of your affection, who has no good redeeming qualities except in a lacking moments of necessary clarity or stupidity,
you just may like your new x-rated book boyfriend. One Jake Ziggen. Yes, hes the one that messed with his step-sister before they even became related. Well technically related. Jade(step-sister) cant stand the S.O.B. but she cant stop wanting him, even if hes no good and off limits and the same can be said about Jake, though he'll never admit it. The parents had the audacity to go and get married. And technically, you couldn't stand either one of the parents. Nothing like throwing a nice little wrench into the fire. But cope they do, even with the last minute courage to try and stay away. *Like thats ever going to work*
Jakes definitely a piece of work and you kind of like Jade once youve figured out where shes coming from, even when shes out of her tree, every
now and then. Its definitely a steamy ride and if you managed not to scorch yourself, you just may enjoy it immensely. So pick up a copy and check it out for yourself.

Jake is the guy every women wants to be with, the bad boy. He has no problem being with them all. Except for Jade. After the night with her he hasn't forgotten it. When she winds up as his stepsister, it takes a whole new turn. Jade wants Jake again even though she will try her best not to. He was her first and know living in the same house with I'm makes it that much harder to get him out of her mind. Just one more time.

There is so much more to Jake then he shows the world. I think Jade sees that in him. he doesn't want Jade to know he has feelings for her so he comes off hurting her as much as possible. Jade is looking for love and she wants Jake. Some of the time I really wondered why she wanted him. Seriously there is only so much you can take of being put down and hurt. Since this is book 1, I wonder where the author is going to take it. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

My Review of Bad Lust by Aurora Hayes
My Rating is 4 Lusty Stars
I enjoy a good taboo story and this one didn’t disappoint. Bring on the bad boy!
Jake Ziggen is all sexy as sin bad boy, and all daddy’s worst nightmare. Jade is the good girl follow the rules and never step out of line kind of girl. When these two meet it’s fireworks on the fourth of July!
This story has an edge. The story keeps you wondering just where this couple will end up. There were times with Jade’s father I wanted to reach into my kindle and rattle his head, what a jerk her father is and as for Jake’s mother she isn’t much better at times.
There are some steamy scenes in this book, as this couple are total hotness. It’s a fast and steady read one I read from cover to cover in one sitting.
This story does have a cliffy only because it’s a series one of which I can’t wait to read book 2.

This story is about Jade and Jake. Jade is a girl who has been brought up by her father alone since her mother walked out when Jade was young. Jake is a guy who has been brought up by his mother who has been through a string of guys since his father left.
Jade meets Jake at a party and ends up having a one-night stand with him.
Jake is the ultimate bad boy and Jade is the perfect princess. Little do they know that while they were doing the deed, their parents were away, secretly getting married.
Now, Jade and Jake have to try to get along as stepsiblings and nothing more, which will be hard since they both are attracted to each other but both fight it with everything they have.

I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to see what else is in store for Jake and Jade.

If you like the romance between a "Princess" aka Rich Girl and the "Bad Boy" - you will love this book!!

This is the first book so it does end in a cliff hanger. But the romance is sizzling between Jade & Jake!!

Poor little rich girl has no clue what her father is planning but Jake will do what he can to protect her even before he learns that she is to be his step-sister. Once she knows about that, she can't get him off her mind and then he tries to protect her even more! She is confused but is following her heart.

She is a good girl that is the daughter a millionaire computer guru but her life is anything from good. Her mother left her when she was 5, growing up with a father that sees her as a pawn in his business deals. He calls her Daughter most times not Jade, like she is a pet or something to look down on. Her father leaves to a special island vacation but comes back with a surprise.
Jake is all around asshole, man whore and likes to get wasted. His mother was a professional piano player until she messed her life. Jake will nail any woman and when the rich college girl comes up to him well he did what he does best. Now to find out his mother just screwed him over again with marrying Jades rich father is more passed off knowing that is a shame and can't do nothing about it.

You'll need the A/C turn on freezing for this one. Umm yes hot scenes check, bad boy check, decent storyline check, oh and alittle taboo check. This is the authors new pen name so she could get down with the sexy, and it's worked well. What I didn't like was the length it was too short, the characters were eh a bit to foul? The editing is easily looked over its only little minor slips so I had no problems, I've seen way worse. But yes I think for me I just couldn't get over how straight up catty or rude the characters seemed. Just s bit overly forceful/dramatizing. But I'll keep an eye out to read the next installment just to quench my curiosity for how this storyline will play out. It's left rather cliff hangerish. Solid 3-4 stars

This review is from: BAD LUST: A Stepbrother Romance (A Step Over the Line Book Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
I bought and read this book because I enjoy the authors work in the past when she writes by her other name a.k.a. Ana W. Fawkes. I just want to say that I wanted to leave an honest review as a reader. The book is about Jade Werlem, a rich "daddy's girl and Jake Ziggen, the classic hot, sexy college bad boy. The story line is very well written by the author and has controlling and selfish parents, suspense, drama, steamy sex between step siblings and a lot more twists. This plots ends with a cliffhanger but I can't wait for the next book to read what happened!

Fanfrickingtastic hot start

Jade and Jake. Oh my! Jake, campus dirty bad boy, bedding the girls once then forgetting them. Until Jade. Then there's Jade, her mother left her with her father, she really wants for nothing, except love. Always left alone but not really cuz the house staff and security are there, her father puts on a good show appearing like father of the year taking care of his daughter alone. That is far from the truth. Jake wants Jade but his mother married her father. Jake learns that her father is basically giving her to a man like part of a business deal. I can't wait to read the next part of this story.

Sometimes you just need a good time

Jake and Jade have just found out that they are step siblings and that makes the game even hotter. Jade is a dorky rich girl that can't forget her night with Jake but treats her badly. Jake so remembers her and he needs more. Their attraction to each other is off the charts but they are so different. He is the bad who just wants sex and to have a good time but Jade has messed him up as he needs her. He can't take much more it is time to leave but Jade is about to be hurt badly can he stay and try protect her or is it best to leave. A really hot book which makes you want more. Let's see what happens next

FORBIDDEN LOVE
Jade is the good little rich girl that never does anything risky until she gets drunk at a party and hooks up with Jake, the bad boy who is also drunk and enjoys having sex with anyone who's willing. She doesn't expect to see him again, and then the next thing she knows her father married his mother while he was away on his trip. Jake has to move into the house so they can be one big happy family for the public eye. Jade and Jake have fantastic chemistry. It will be very interesting to see what develops in the next book. I really enjoyed this book, but it does need some editing. I received this book as a gift for an honest review. Patsy Sacco

This trilogy captured me straight from the beginning. It has a real life feeling with two families coming together in a not so good way. Both Jade and Jake have a not so good past and when they meet for the first time they know nothing about each other. Both looking for a good time and get way more than they bargained for. Things get heated in both their lives and in the bedroom and other places. Things start coming to light as time goes on and life gets a bit rocky for both Jake and Jade. I seriously didn't want to put this book down and I so want more. Aurora Hayes (Ana Fawkes) did an amazing job pulling me in and not letting go.

I received this book for an honest review.

Very hot! Jade meets Jake at a college party, they are both drunk. One thing leads to another and they end up having mind blowing sex. Fortunately, this happens before their parents get married. Unfortunately, that doesn't keep them from wanting each other again and again. Jake decides enough is enough and is leaving the house when he overhears Jade's father saying some disturbing things to another man. He changes his mind about leaving and is determined to protect Jade. Wow, sizzling hot read, I loved it!!

This book is HOT!! Jake is the bad boy player and Jade is the good girl who has never done anything out of the ordinary. They share one drunken night together only to find out that Jade's dad is marrying Jake's mom. Now living together in the same house and being together a lot it's making it harder for them not to want to be together. Jake plans on leaving however then he hears Jade's dad talking about a plan that includes another man and his daughter and he changes his mind. This was a really hot read and I can't wait to find out what happens next.

3.5/5

I'm giving this a 3.5 due to all the errors I found. This book needs heavy editing, though I'm not saying that it was bad. The story line was pretty great and I'm looking forward to reading book two but this one definitely needs fixing.

I like Jade and Jake's characters. They're polar opposites but they're drawn to each other and it seems like Jade is working her good girl magic on the bad boy.

If this is how rich people live though, they should really take a pay cut, I just feel bad for Jade and what she has to go through with her father.

Ahhhh....NOT a HEA...but a good read. At a party, Jake, a bad boy who sleeps around...a lot, and Jade, have a quicky in a back room. Jade is happy to finally not be a fully good girl after a one night stand with the high school bad boy and is glad she'll never see him again. Imagine Jade's surprise and horror when she learns Jake is now her step brother! Jake hates the new household and is set to run away when he learns something Jade's father has planned for her. To save her, Jake stays....the next book will tell us the rest...

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Oh my my. First let me start off by saying I really want to punch Jake in the face. He is such an a**hat. He's rude, selfish, arrogant and oh so yummy. Jade seems blind to me. How can she not know what her father is doing to her. The two of them together though is explosive (no pun intended). They have tons of chemistry and already know each others bodies. I cannot wait for the next installment.

Bad Lust is the first book in a series by Aurora Hayes aka Ana W Fawkes, whose books I've always enjoyed. Yet another "stepbrother" saga, it was disappointingly stereotypical with wealthy manipulative father, failed mother, overachieving pure, rich girl & smoking, swearing, man-whore who lives hard & plays even harder. I just didn't feel any attachment to the characters or involvement with their story.
