At seventeen, Mattie Hathaway has survived her mother attempting to kill her, multiple foster homes, and a serial killer. Oh, and she sees ghosts on a regular basis too. You’d think Fate would give her a break right? Umm…nope, not Mattie.
Dan Richards is the only person in the entire world Mattie trusts, but then the boy goes and breaks her heart. Mattie does what she does best, she runs and lands herself slap in the middle of a haunted house full of ghosts turned vengeful that want Mattie to join their ranks.
Only bright spot on all this? Eli Malone – the gorgeous boy with the beautiful aqua eyes that makes her feel things she’s never even imagined before. She’s not sure what to do with him, especially when Dan shows up glowering at him.
She’ll figure Eli out if she can survive the house. The ghosts are bound and determined to kill her so she’ll be one of them. Now if she can just figure out how to survive them and the demon stalking her, she might be able to decide what to do about her feelings for Dan and Eli.
That is if she can survive the night in the house.
So who am I? Well, I'm the crazy girl with an imagination that never shuts up. I LOVE scary movies. My friends laugh at me when I scare myself watching them and tell me to stop watching them, but who doesn't love to get scared? I grew up in a small town nestled in the southern mountains of West Virginia where I spent days roaming around in the woods, climbing trees, and causing general mayhem. Nights I would stay up reading Nancy Drew by flashlight under the covers until my parents yelled at me to go to sleep.
Growing up in a small town, I learned a lot of values and morals, I also learned parents have spies everywhere and there's always someone to tell your mama on you. So when you get grounded, what is there left to do? Read! My Aunt Jo gave me my first real romance novel. It was a romance titled "Lord Margrave's Deception." I remember it fondly. But I also learned I had a deep and abiding love of mysteries and anything paranormal. As I grew up, I started to write just that and would entertain my friends with stories featuring them as main characters.
Now, I live Huntersville, NC where I entertain my family and watch the cats get teased by the birds and laugh myself silly when they swoop down and then dive back up just out of reach. The cats start yelling something fierce...lol.
I love books, I love writing books, and I love entertaining people with my silly stories.
I have to put this on the back burner. I loved the first one but this one is really making me angry.
Dan with a sudden interest in Meg? Mattie with like a million boyfriend possibilities? I wish we could get rid of the romantic undertones, they are taking centerstage and it's driving me mad. The actual ghost stuff is awesome but I can't suffer through it anymore.
Not to mention Mattie's constant dismay and need to get away from Dan and yet she doesn't f***ing do it. God damnit be a big girl and make him give you space. Ugh.

I expected a interesting plot;something I could pass some free time on. I received that-and more. I started reading. And reading. And reading. I could barely stop reading, and when I did, I was always finding ways to get back to reading this book. Apryl Baker has lost none of her writing skill in this sequel to The Ghost Files, as Mattie now begins to try and recover from her experiences-only to be thrown into another situation. Along the way, new characters will be discovered and old characters will be remembered. A great read for any occasion! I recommend this book for people aged 11 or older, as some parts may be a bit complicated for younger readers, and there is a bit of violence in the story.
SOMETIMES MATTIE NEEDS TO STFU. YOU RUINED IT. IT WAS SO GOOD. The ghost action was really interesting, loved the mystery surrounding Mattie's and Dan's family - but I felt the book was ruined by the confusing relationship developments and all the characters the whole book is submerged with a surplus of characters and subplots that don't smoothly entwine. The plots jumps from one story tot eh next - we're dealing with one intense emotion to another. That's fine - as Mattie is a larger than life- but I felt it went OTT Additionally, one minute Mattie is madly in love with Eric (Mirror Boy), then she's mad about a new guy (Dan's half brother - incestuous or what). And she's also clearly into Dan (my favourite and I hope they end up together). If she just liked them - or was intensely into them that would be fine - but it's like "OMG HE'S THE ONE!! MY LIFE WILL END IF WE CAN'T BE TOGETHER!!" DUMB DUMB DUMB It also seemed rushed. I also felt it was unfair that Mattie forgives a certain person she's known a few months over her best friend Meg (the person she knows longer - what happened to sistahs before mistahs): Based mostly in New Orleans, unfortunately, we don't really feel the essence and beauty of New Orleans. I also didn't understand how someone who believed in God would also be into witchcraft, voodoos, and pagan druid tattoos. Far too many contradictions. Otherwise, it was great to be reading about a new location. The haunted mansion in New Orleans was particularly interesting.
This series is amazing. Just when you think that there cannot be anything left to make it still interesting, they go and throw in a whole new plot! And in the form of a boy that sends heat into our Mattie haha Eli Malone. We learn so much more about Mattie and her trust issues, those are also challenged in this book to her dismay. You definitely want to read this book and find out the connection between Dan and the Malones!!!! The writing style is so descriptive that I can visualize everything as im reading. It flows great and keeps you entertained and intrigued. I constantly wanted to know what was going to happen next. I am already diving into the third book in this series. If you like the paranormal genre books and some romance this is a must read.
Well, Mattie downright became an annoying bit*ch in this book. And if I have to read another line of "There are very few things that scare me," I swear to God I'll murder everyone in this series. She's afraid of practically everything it seemed.
The romance was not necessary. If the writer just focus on the main plot which is the mystery surrounding Mattie, it'll be better. Does she seriously think all YA needed to have romance in it? And if it does, just stick to one guy. Suddenly Mattie is not just a beacon attracting ghosts but also boys. Like wtf.
Too many contradictions, which take the fun in reading this. I have to stop at every 50 pages or so and do something else before continuing because I was that close to fling my reader across the room.
Well, it was fun while it lasted but it'll take a while if I'm going to read the rest in the series. And damn it, I already bought all of them. I seriously need to stop believing in GR rating and reviews.
I fell into this book so hard and early on in a way book one can’t compare. Perhaps it was because I was listening to the audio version but I think this book was just much more thrilling and enticing than the first. Book one had us fawning over Office Dan and this time around we find out that Dan’s maybe not as great as we were led to believe. I was pissed and still am.Sure it had its soap opera/teenage drama moments but I was all for it. I enjoyed this story a lot more than I would have thought, the author took it nowhere I would have expected and I was living for all the shocking moments, though I could do with Mattie passing out less and less backstabbing especially from character we were trained to like. I mean at the end of the day she’s in my opinion kind of a badass. Sure she has her moments of immaturity but she’s only 17 and she sees freaking ghosts. No way Jose!!!! The introduction of new characters brings so much more to the story (one in particular 😍) and I’m really eager to see where the story leads.
Uuuuuugh. Why and how did we jump from such a good first book to such a weird and forced second book? I was so excited to read this book. Like I started reading this the same night I finished the first book excited. But oh such a let down. Let me tell you about all the ways this book just grinded on my last nerve. First of all Mattie whines and moans about how nobody ever cares about her and how she has no real friends and no real family. Do you want to know why Mattie? It's because when someone goes through the trouble of throwing you a birthday party, you totally ditch out on it the first two seconds and then COMPLETELY DITCH OUT ON IT like not even a half hour in. Right? Did this urk anyone? Oh my friend says he got a mysterious phone call so I will jet off with him and screw all my friends and birthday party. Not to mention the good will of my friend offering me a place to stay and live because I'm a stupid stupid girl who is ungrateful for any kind of break she gets. Yeah. The whole party scene at the beginning grinded my gears. Next thing. The whole Mattie and her friend and Officer Dan triangle. If she doesn't love Dan then who the hell cares who he dates? I thought it was clear in the last book and then beginning of this one that she wasn't interested in Dan? But then she flipped her shit when Dan is dating her friend. So much so that she traipses off to God knows where with God knows who because she is emotionally distraught at who he dates? Ugh, as if. And this is the third thing. Did Apryl Baker write Mattie as this HUGELY annoying foster kid because she thinks that it will be more convenient if she has no parents or guardians to say, "Wait one freaking minute. You're not going to New Orleans with some creep on the internet that I've never met. You're staying here and finishing high school, you little truant." Stereotypes are stereotypical Ms. Baker. I guess to finish this rant about all the ways this book let me down was how Eric the Ghost was killed off. The book takes the only voice of reason, the only person who told Mattie to stop being such an annoying little bitch and start fighting for something, and they made Mattie kill him. If that doesn't give you some sense of foreboding then I don't know what to tell you. If you're thinking of reading this series, I'd give it a second thought. It's whiny dribble with not a lot of plot, and not too much creativity. The same whiny problems from the first book bled into this one. Just...pass! Someone call the exorcist for this girl. Get the holy water or something.

Okay, this series is always so comforting to come back to. It never disappoints. Despite what Goodreads says I started reading this series when I was like eight or nine so I have read it at least six times. Probably more. Definitely a favorite of mine. It will always keep a special place in my heart. Definitely not something an eight year old should read though… but it’s okay. When I say I have read it at least six times I mean the whole series. The spin-off (Crane Diaries) has been read at least three. Definitely became an obsession. I love this series and these characters so much. These are the ultimate comfort characters for me, and even though I know everything that happens, I can’t help that childlike and naive sense of wonder. I will never not love this series, and the fact that hardly anyone knows about it makes it all the better. It feels like it belongs to me. It is my comfort, it lives in my heart. It is an amazing feeling.
+Uhmmm.. Back in 2015, I rated this book as 5 STARS! WTH?! Seriously? Maybe my mind is out of place that time. LOL! 😂
+NOW, rereading this : Boring. Redundant. Hilda keeps on passing in and out. Too much romance. As if she doesn't really know who she really likes. Annoying. Duh, lets just focus about ghost. PUHLEASE. Ewwwk.. *rollingeyes* 😒😂 2 stars for Caleb or The Malones. 🖤
+But I still want to finish this series. We'll see. Hope it WILL get better. Haha (crossfingers) 😉🙂

These cliffhangers will be the death of me! LOL! But these books are worth the anticipation! I'm sad the rest of the series isn't available on audible but I will be surely buying the ebooks and reading them ASAP!
The narrator this time around was SO MUCH BETTER! Her voices and emotions were on point.
The plot in this book definitely picked up even more and the drama and mystery had me on the edge of my seat! I found myself gasping with shock at some of the twists which is a HUGE plus for me in books as I usually guess the "surprises" along the way!
This is a fantastic book to read with your pre-teen/teenage kid (my 12yr old niece LOVED it!!)!
I cannot wait to see how this series unfolds! Shame on me for not starting this series sooner! FIVE STARS.
Okay where to start. Apryl needs to see a shrink for coming up with these ghosts. The story line is coming out more like a dark fantasy book but it was still really good. I like all the story lines. You have the ongoing one then each book seems to have it's own which leaves bread crumbs towards the greater story line. I like the new introduction of characters and I think things are about to get messy for everyone. I like the fact that Dan is still around. The ghosts in this book were well thought out. My favorite was the farmer.

As the title suggests this is the 2nd book in the Ghost Files series. The story has 2 main characters, Mattie Hathaway (a 17 year old, who has been in one foster home after another since she was 5), and Dan Richards (a rookie police officer). Mattie sees ghosts, and Dan doesn't believe in them. This book carries on directly from the 1st one in the series, but for me, it isn't quite as good. The ghost parts are fine. This time round there seem to be just too many new characters introduced, and the familial links are just too coincidental to be credible. It seemed as though all of the male characters are either drawn to Mattie, or Mattie is drawn to them, making things rather confusing. Also, parts of the plot line are a wee bit disjointed, making this a bit of a cumbersome read.
Love. Love LOVE!!! Everyone's in love. Mattie no longer loves Jake but is so in love with Dan. Dan told Mattie he loved her a few weeks ago and now he couldn't help that he fell in love with her best friend while she was recovering from a vicious attack. I guess he got tired of waiting for her to turn 18. At this point I don't even know why anyone is still entertaining Dan. Take your ass home to your girl. I don't understand how Mattie's heartbroken over a dude she wasn't even with when she so called loved a ghost more than anything she's ever felt. 🙄 Ghost moves on now Eli feels like home. 🙄🙄🙄 These random love proclamations and crushes are really ruining the story. Fk Meg and fk Dan. Mattie is annoying as hell. I was so excited to read this but I'm really close to tapping out.

These Cliffhangers I CAN’T! I loved this book… again, just like the first one. The storyline/plot is soooo good! I was invested from the beginning to the end (my English is leaving me). I have no words to describe the emotions I went through. Yeah I uave no words to describe how much I liked it so this is a rather short review ;) But I can highly recommend this series and I cannot wait myself to read the next book!
As fast-paced as the first. Had some trouble to keep my ducks in a row while things just kept happening. Enjoyed reading it though. This is a really good series. Wish poor Mattie could catch a break, but I already see trouble lurking for the road ahead. Keeps you glued to the edge of your seat.
Personal Response: I really enjoyed The Ghost Files by Apryl Baker. I liked how it showed that not everyone's life was perfect and being an orphan can be hard. It also showed that friendships can fall apart easy but only true friends stay with and fight to keep each other as a friend.
Plot summary: At seventeen years old, Mattie Hathaway had survived her mother attempting to kill her, multiple foster homes, and a serial killer. She saw ghosts on a regular basis too. Dan Richards was the only person in the entire world Mattie trusted, but then he broke her heart. Mattie went to New Orleans to help her doctor who had helped her through all her ghost incidents. She soon met Caleb, Eli, and Mr. Malone. Mattie found out that the Malone family could see ghosts to but only the bad ones. They gave Mattie a spell to help protect her from the evil in the house. Eli Malone was the gorgeous boy with the beautiful aqua eyes that made her feel things she’d never even imagined before. She was not sure what to do with him, especially when Dan showed up glowering at him. Soon Mattie found out that the spirit of the house wants her dead and would do whatever he could to have her soul so he could be more powerful.
Characterization: Mattie: Mattie is 16 going on 17. She could see ghosts ever since her mother tried to kill her at the age of five. Mattie had trust issues ever since being in foster care because of all the different home issues she had to face. Since she was fostered while growing up, she made very few friends and never got close to anyone. If someone earns Mattie’s trust, they are lucky because she does not trust easily.
Officer Dan: Dan is 20 years old and a rookie cop who has helped Mattie through a lot. He is one of the few people Mattie actually trusts. Dan is willing to give the shirt off his back for Mattie even though he doesn’t have a lot himself. Dan was adopted as an infant by Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Impact of setting: The Ghost Files had many settings. It took place mostly during present day in New Orleans, Louisiana. This was where Mattie, Dan and everyone else found out about their past. What they found out in New Orleans was very unsettling and changed their lives. The reader also found out more about Mattie’s ‘gift’ of seeing ghosts and learned about more people who can see them too.
Recommendation: I recommend this book to anyone in middle school or high school since it is an easier read. This is not a gender specific book. Anyone who has been or is a foster child would be able at least partly relate to the main character: Mattie. Even if the reader does not relate as a foster child, Mattie is an overall relatable character.
I can't stop reading this series!!! This book was filled with such mystery I was on the edge of my seat trying to piece together who belonged to who. Dan you done messed up but I still love you!! The part with his mom has my head spinninh. I even fell in love with Eli. I can't wait to grab book 3 and get started.
I read this book in one night. The author pulled me into the story immediately and didn't let go. I enjoyed the addition of the Malones. I look forward to seeing where things go between Eli and Mattie or if Dan and Mattie will realize they are perfect together. There are some interesting plot twists in this installment and I cannot wait to dive into Book 3.
"Ghost Files #2" is the second book in a series that blends the paranormal, ghostly apparitions, and murder into a thrilling page-turner. It begins with Mattie Hathaway a teen who can communicate with ghosts, survived her mother's attempt to kill her at age five and multiple foster homes as well as the torture of a serial killer. Turning seventeen she not only reaps a loving foster home but a celebration with those she loves including her trusted best friend Officer Dan Richards, only to have her heart shattered when she discovers he's been dating her sexy, rich friend Meg. Stunned by the betrayal she flies to New Orleans to join Dr. Olivet, the "Spook Doctor" and the Malone family who are investigating sinister ghostly sightings at a nearby mansion. What Mattie doesn't expect is to become the prey of vengeful spirits who are determined to feed off her energy and a demon stalking her dreams.
Heartbroken by Dan's lies and betrayal she 's attracted to Eli Malone , a gorgeous ghost hunter with beautiful aqua eyes who ignites her passion. But when Dan shows up at the mansion with a protection amulet , an apology and information about her lineage, Mattie has come to terms with her feelings for both men.
The plot quickly heats up and tension mounts when Mattie's attacked in front of the restaurant where she's celebrating her birthday by a demon that stinks and spews a black liquid, only to be swept away to Dan's apartment where she learns of his lie and betrayal. In this fast-paced and thrilling sequel the action never stops as events unfold that have Mattie hunted not only by a ghost who wants to drain her energy, but a demon painter who haunts her dreams, spilling her blood to bring his painting to life. Yet she's determined to fulfill her role as reaper and to face the horrors in her scary world, wanting to help the ghosts yearning to crossover.
At the mansion the intensity, suspense and horror escalates when Mattie, fleeing heartbreak discovers she's the target of a power-hungry ghost and a demon. Broken, mad at everyone and feeling she's destroyed everything good in her life, Mattie has to come to terms with her emotions if she is to survive against the force that threatens her life. Woven into a story filled with lies, secrets, betrayal and violence there are strong elements of friendship, love and self-sacrifice.
Realizing that she loved and trusted Dan more than she ever expected Mattie is crushed by his lie and betrayal. Although strange when Dan and Mattie's relationship vibrated with controlled passion because of her age, her heartbreak turns into an edgy, electrical attraction to Eli Malone. Sensing their romance is predestined Mattie and Eli grow closer even when Dan appears at the mansion with an apology and wanting forgiveness. But it's Mirror Boy ( Eric Cameron) that Mattie truly loves even though the relationship is impossible and he will have to make a sacrifice that will finally take him from her world.
With well-developed, passionate characters and chilling antagonists in an entertaining and intriguing plot, "Ghost Files #2" is a must-read that keeps you on the edge of you seat from the first page to the last. I enjoyed it and look forward to reading the third installment in the series.
The trauma Mattie Hathaway suffered at the hands of her former foster mother is only the latest in a series of horrible events she's had to survive, but it left scars deeper than her what her damaged hands show. Mattie deserves a break, but fate is not so kind. As her personal relationships fall apart around her, she has to escape, but her escape only drags her further into confusion and danger.
I am a big fan of all of Apryl Baker's books, and I loved the first book in this series, so I was eager to get my hands on volume 2. When I was offered a review copy from the author in exchange for an honest review, I was delighted! The biggest question when starting a sequel is always whether or not it will live up to the first book. The Ghost Files Vol. 2 more than lived up to my expectations!
While this second book wasn't quite as graphic as book one, it was still plenty scary. I had a hard time going to bed after finishing the book! Of course, that might have also had something to do with the fact that I started reading it at ten o'clock at night and read it well into the morning hours until I got to the end. I literally couldn't stop reading, and that doesn't happen to me very often anymore.
The mystery that flows through this book was captivating, to say the least. There were many questions left unanswered at the end of book one about Mattie's past, and well as Dan's. Readers are in for a windfall of answers in this one as Mattie and a few new friends fight off some pretty scary beings intent of stealing their souls. That hardly means more questions won't follow, though! I loved learning about Mattie and Dan's pasts and how it will change their future plans. Baker certainly caught me off guard on more than one account!
As far as the main storyline, I loved watching them confront their enemies and meeting the new characters like Eli and his family. I won't be forgetting them an time soon, especially Eli. Each new character followed up on the usual depth and complexity I've come to expect from Baker. Their interactions had me laughing at times, and tearing up at others. Readers will find it hard not to become emotionally invested in them. I'm looking forward to hearing more from them as Mattie and Eli's family continue hunting down scary creatures. If they're anything like the one they face in this volume, I'll be sure to start reading in daylight and plan on not moving for several hours!
I'm not usually a horror reader, but I have loved both the Ghost Files books. I have every intention of continuing to read the series. As far as content, when it comes to romance and language, the story is prett clean. It can get pretty scary, though, so it's not for younger readers. Even though this is labelled as YA, I'd recommend it to older teens and adults who enjoy strong characters, a great mystery, a good scare.
The premise is entertaining, but Dan is a real asshole in this one. Not because he dated Mattie's best friend, but because he kept it a secret, and because he followed her and insisted on being around her despite knowing that would put her in danger. Also he doesn't seem to realize that you can't demand forgiveness, especially not when you're still making excuses for your asshole actions. I'm not exaggerating here, he repeatedly insists that she has to forgive him because her not forgiving him is making him feel bad.
“No, Squirt, we have to talk. I can’t take this distance. I need you to forgive me.”
He went on like this for a while, sending out major abuser red flags. That is NOT how forgiveness works, it has to be earned, it doesn't matter how badly he feels, nobody is entitled to forgiveness. It must be given freely.
From that point onward he constantly invades her personal space and acts super possessive and jealous, which is absurd because he's dating her best friend. You can't have it both ways asshole Dan. Especially not when you know your presence puts her at risk of being attacked by a demon!
It's especially disappointing cause I liked Dan in the first book.
I'll give the weird religious moralizing tangents a pass because it's probable that this isn't the author using Mattie as a mouthpiece for her own beliefs, but is instead setting up Mattie's inevitable discovery of her relationship to the painter demon (that demon had a son, somebody is bound to be related to him). Mattie being 1/4 demon would even provide a refutation of a lot of religious beliefs about good and evil. I guess I'll see whether there's follow-through, here's hoping the third book has less asshole Dan.

I absolutely loved the first book and excused most of Mattie’s flaws, however, her character just seems to take a downward spiral in the second book. The writing becomes a bit more juvenile as well, to the point that’s it’s hard to read in some places. Overall, the spooky plot and cliffhangers are still just as interesting but the main character severely distracts from this. She seems to want everyone’s unconditional love while returning none of it and refusing to change her self admitted “hard to handle” behavior. Her multiple love interests are not realistic and don’t come off as authentic. She seems to fall for every young man she meets and conveniently most of the characters are hunky dudes who inexplicably immediately fall in love with her the second they lay eyes on her. The whole thing moves pretty quickly and she admits she has feelings for MULTIPLE men but gets upset when of them also decides to make a genuine connection with someone else. She then continuously repeats her try hard inner monologue throughout the entire book about what a hardened, emotionless, foster kid she is. It’s exhausting. I almost wish Apryl would’ve stuck to the main plot of ghosts in this book as the backstory for Dan and Mattie feel extremely forced and don’t quite add up the way they should. Overall a little disappointed. Mattie had great potential and should’ve had a much better role than being a man crazed bimbo through most of this book.

You don’t really need to read book one to understand what is going on in this second book as the author gives enough background information in this novel to get you up to speed. Written in the same style, this novel takes right off from where we left the characters in book one. I thought there were less creepy details in this novel as it dealt more with Mattie and her relationships and her endeavors. I liked the details of the ghostly apparitions that appeared to her which I read about in the first book and I missed them. Those details gave the book the creep factor which added to the books intensity. This second novel is more complex and I thought perhaps a couple times Mattie was over-her-head in spirits and demons. But it’s hard to keep your focus when you dealing with manifestations and guys at the same time. Mattie is finally finding her girl side but it seems to be getting in the way with what is really going on in her life. As the spirits seek out Mattie, both physically and mentally, she’s drawing in more individuals into her strange world. Mattie has always been afraid of telling people her secret, but we all know that everyone has secrets.
We are back with Mattie , the ghost girl. We learn so much more about her and her past. There's so much depth to this story, than I expected. I chose to listen to the audio because I needed something to listen to during my commute. The narrator did a great job and was enthralled with this story.
Ghost Files, is still just as creepy and terrifying as the first. But it did take its emotional toll on me. I really connected with her. I loved listening to her grow as a character. So many times she wanted to give up but she's not one to give up. She's a fighter and a bad ass one at that.
She meets one of the most terrifying evils. But she's smart and uses her abilities to her advantage. It does help that she has amazing friends and family by her side.
This is the first time that I've experienced, Elise Randall as a narrator. I thought she did a great job. Its sometimes hard to find a narrator that you can connect with. But she was able to really bring this story to life, voicing all the these different characters.
I can't wait to read number three in the series. overall, Five Boundless Stars from me....Lissa
*This book was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review* As promised here is the review for Ghost Files Volume 2…Be ready for Ghost Files Volume 3. Apryl Baker does it again…she just keeps me on the edge of my seat with Ghost Files Volume 2. Her writing is so suspenseful its hard to quit! The book draws you in so quickly with Mattie having to deal with another foster home, and not a very nice one! I just want Mattie to be happy and free from all the hurt she has had to deal with. Thankfully Officer Dan comes to the rescue…or does he? I loved all the new characters that are introduced in this new book, the living and the dead ones. She meets some scary characters. My favorite scene in the book is when she meets the painter. I found this scene intriguing, scary, and confusing, but thankfully Miss Baker explains all the confusion away. Mattie and Dan also get to find out a bit about their pasts. Will this new information strain their relationship or will it make it stronger? With all that happens in this book, Ghost Files has me on an emotional roller coaster with heart break, stress, loss, and physical pain. I rate this book 5 creepy stars!
I love mattie! I love that she can take care of herself but she can still get hurt. I can't believe her best friend went off without th the guy she liked what a massive bitch! I'm glad she forgave dan but I probably wouldn't have in her shoes! Also glad Eric sort of died because I felt that as a story arc loving a ghost didn't really have anywhere to go. But also excited about eli but I feel like that might end up with mattie dead tbh. Loved the addition of demons and the fact they smell like sulphur and I really hope we find out who sent it, my money is on meg or dans mum. Excellent series

Once again, Apryl Baker has delivered an incredible horror story. Mattie is back, with my favorite character--Officer Dan. Dan is not quite so white knight in this one, and Mattie meets Eli. She is instantly attracted to him. All this is set above the ghost thing--Mattie sees ghosts. Demons turn up in this book, too, and a family of ghost hunters. Warning: the ending is yet another cliff hanger!
I really do like this series. I love the author's clear writing style and vivid descriptions. Interesting plot again and more characters! Mattie's attitude frustrates me at times, mostly because her impulsive aggression reminds me of someone I dislike. Its another fun, entertaining read. Few errors were spotted but that's okay, surprisingly I didn't mind at all.
This is my second time reading this series, and I'm a little MEH on my first thoughts. The books are enjoyable, but fairly predictable and stereotypical (this girl spends a LOT of time fainting). But those criticisms aren't enough to keep me from reading the rest of the series, especially since it's such an easy read.
