I received this book for free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I was so excited to read this book because it takes place in a haunted house. Fun fact about me: I LOVE haunted houses. My favorite ride at Disneyland is the Haunted Mansion and I often consider it to be my dream home. I also live super close to the Winchester Mystery House (which is totally awesome by the way). So already I was destined to love this book.

description

I liked the first book in this series, but I loved this one more! I tend to like the second book in series more than the first because all the set up is already done. This book got straight to all the haunting fun and did not disappoint.

So first off, Stanton Hall Manor sounds like my kind of house. There’s a room called the Storybook Room and it sounds like the greatest thing ever. The book states, “The Storybook Room was designed like a book store, with antique novels lining each and every corner of each and every wall. It reminded Kate of the castle library in Beauty and the Beast” (90). That place sounds like heaven!

Character-wise, I really liked how we got to meet Luke’s ghost hunting team. I can’t wait to see more of them! Also, I really love Brink. He’s so precious and provides such great comedic relief.

The storyline was really good and as usual there was a good balance of the paranormal and the normal.

I also liked how natural Kate and Michael’s relationship felt. They make a very cute couple.

Overall, this was even better than the first. I can’t wait to start reading the third book as soon as I post this review.

Really enjoyed getting more of this cast of characters. I love Michael and Kate. I loved watching their relationship grow. This ghost story was pretty intense but I never really felt connected to the story of Sterling and his lost love. Can't wait to see if there is more to this story!

Review
OMG…Luke Reiner is back and is better than ever!  Luke, Brink along with Michael continue to make me laugh with their banter back and forth.

After Ms. Smith approached me to review her first book, Cemetery Tours, I was hooked – I just had to keep reading this series because I fell in love with all the characters…

Ms. Smith again has the ability to suck you in to the story where a movie plays out for you.  I was engrossed not only with the characters but with the ghost story at Stanton Hall Manor.

Re-Cap
Now that the cat is out of the bag with Michael, he finds himself the center of attention, losing his job and trying his best to get his life back to normal.  It couldn’t come at a better time that Luke shows up and wants Michael to investigate with him in Maine.  Kate talks him into it and Gavin decides to tag along with the cameras.

We meet the rest of the Cemetery Tours crew and the spirits haunting the Manor. I’m not going to give anymore away about the investigation but I will reveal that Kate and Michael continue to get closer and closer and their relationships blooms!

I can’t wait for the next book in this series to see where Luke will take these characters next!

Five Reasons to grab a copy of Between Worlds

While this is the second book, it will work as a standalone. We met all of the characters in the previous novel Cemetery Tours but Smith does an excellent job of bringing readers up to speed without boring fans. I love that each contains a ghostly haunting, and wrap up.

Michael Sinclair has recently come of out of the closet but not for what you think. He can see ghosts, and in fact lives with one. I really like Michael. He is this sexy, yet nerdy guy with insecurities, and a ghost for a roommate. Kate his girlfriend was the main protagonist in the previous novel. Kate and her brother, Gavin play major roles in this novel. Michael’s roommate is a hilarious single guy who went to high school with Michael and his commentary is hilarious.

Michael, Kate and Galvin join paranormal rock star Luke Rainer star of the hit series Cemetery Tours when they explore Stanton Hall in Maine. I love tagging along with the crew as they film on site. Smith does a great job of sharing the team dynamics, and filming experience. Each of the crew is fairly well developed and has their own unique voice. There are no cliche characters making it feel fresh.

The haunting is fantastic. Low on the creep factor and heavy on suspense makes this ideal for a larger audience. In edition the clean romance allows you to safely share with your teen. The motley crew of characters reminds me of Scooby Doo and friends. It is a perfect balance of mystery and crew interactions.

Jacqueline Smith weaves a clever haunting mystery in Between Worlds that perfectly paced, laced in a little history and filled with humor and suspense. Her characters work well together from the banter to support. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

"Death is complex. It's powerful and timeless."
This series just gets better and better! I loved the different scenery in this one and the new characters, alive and dead. They are so complex and have a strong sense of realism to them. I honestly wish they were a part of my life. They are just too amazing!
I seriously am in love with Michael. He is so different from the guys I read about and it makes me respect him even more for it. He could be my personality twin. His thoughts and morals are almost completely like mine (minus the ghost seeing bit.)
I am impressed with the titles of these books! They couldn't be any more perfect. I love it when a book's title actually relates to the story and with these, you get a personal look into it without knowing it.
I am ashamed to say that I have almost nothing of a review for this book. I was too busy with the story to pick up a pen in the middle of it. All you need to know is that you NEED to add Jacqueline to your tbr is you love and cherish anything about ghosts like me!!
I can't wait for book 3!!! I miss these characters so much already!

Review originally posted on The Book Adventures of Annelise Lestrange :)

I received this copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. Let's go :D

The Story

Michael Sinclair’s life turned into a living hell after everything that happened with Kate, Gavin and Luke. Now everybody knows that he can see and speak with ghosts. Everybody in all Americans everybody. He was now guest of talk shows and did many interviews, but his new acquired fame made him loose his job and made it a pain to find another.

At least, Michael now had Kate by his side. Gavin recovered fully from the ghost that haunted their apartment and went back to work. Just when Michael thought his life may be coming back to normal, Luke Rainer shows up again, asking for Michael to tag along on an episode shooting for Cemetery Tours, as the owner of the house personally requested his presence with the crew.

What seemed to be a fun and relaxing holiday at Maine, Portland, turned out to be a living nightmare for everybody, as a very unaware of death ghost gets angry with the intruders in his house. Soon enough, Michael will need more than his gift to make sure that everyone – specially Kate – will be able to go back home.

The Analysis

Just remembering that those were my impressions and opinion as a reader :)

You know those book series that already start blowing up your mind and then manage to get even better book after book? It seems to be the case with Cemetery Tours. Between Worlds rocked my world even harder than the first book and left me so speechless in the end that all I could do was thank Jacqueline for providing me with the whole series. I would have gone mad to have to wait even one more minute to keep reading. I’m seriously hooked and I regret nothing! FIVE STARS AGAIN :D

The narrative style from the first book was kept: third person with alternating point of views. On this book, we have Michael, Kate and, for the first time, Luke. A really strong asset of the book series, the alternating point of views prevented the series of sounding boring or repetitive, as each character has its own mind and way of looking at things. And I’m always stunned by how Michael really is when we are not in his head, haha!

The plot was awesome and very twisted, more than in the first book. Could I trust Luke’s crew? Sterling was a villain or a victim? Was Joanna in the mansion or had already moved on? Carolyn and Marion were being honest about the house? Luke really didn’t feel a thing for Gail? OMG, I ALMOST WENT NUTS, HAHA!

The characters kept surprising me. This book had way more mystery than the last, but it was palpable how much Michael, Kate and even Luke grew up in Between Worlds. Michael changed a lot after he didn’t need to hide that he saw ghosts, like a weight was lifted from him. Don’t get me wrong, he is still shy, awkward and cute, but he doesn’t try to pretend that he is not seeing way more than he should, you know? He’s happy. Kate also develops, but the golden star went to Luke. As we get to see how his work really is, how dedicated he is, how his mind works, I finally started to like him more. I still agree with Michael that, most of the time, Luke can be a pain in the ass, but he’s really a nice guy and only needs a hug, haha! And maybe a serious person by his side, but I’ll have to see what happens in After Death before making further comments in this section, haha!

I was a little sad that we don’t get to see much of Joanna’s journals, but I can live with it. Smith didn’t leave any loose ends besides her signature major cliff hangers for the next book, so I’m cool with what I got from Joanna’s past, haha! I’m cheering for Emily to have more news from Emily in After Death, but let’s see, haha!

Overall, Between Worlds did more than justice for the expectations that I had after reading Cemetery Tours and I’m only hoping that After Death is all that as well :D

That’s it, people! Thanks for reading and, once again, thank you Jacqueline for the books. I’m having the time of my life :D

I was starting to get a little burned out on the Halloween novels; I mean, look how many I have reviewed in the last month! But I told Jackie that I would read Between Worlds, the second novel in her Cemetery Tours series, and provide a review this week. Boy, am I glad I made that promise because I couldn't put it down yesterday! Between Worlds was exactly what I needed to pull me out of my reading slump.

Between Worlds picks up just three months after the conclusion of Cemetery Tours. Michael is struggling with his new life; a life where his carefully guarded secret is now national news. He has the dead and not so dead begging for his assistance. It is such a request that prompts him, Kate, Brink, and Gavin to join Luke and the Cemetery Tours team on a visit to the haunted Stanton Hall Manor. Here they must uncover the truth behind an interesting love story and help a heart-broken ghost.

I LOVED IT! Reading Between Worlds felt like catching up with old friends with each turn of the page and I have to say that Jackie's writing has only improved with book two. She discusses some pretty serious, and sometimes heartbreaking, issues but still maintained a light, and often humorous, atmosphere. Brink kept me laughing, Luke exhibited a surprisingly complex personality, and I loved the developments between Michael and Kate. I definitely did not have a problem connecting with Michael this time around! I even loved the haunting of Sterling Hall.

I do wish there had been more about Emily. I quickly figured out her secret but I was hoping that Michael and Brink would do more to help her with her reality. I know she was doing better when the group left but I personally wanted more closure for the poor teen. And I really got frustrated with how Kate's mom treats her like a rebellious and incapable teenager. (This has nothing to do with Jackie's writing :) this is me being annoyed with the actual character) I understand that the nearly loosing her daughter would make her so cautious, but I was just waiting for her to realize that Kate is a strong woman and that her overbearing behavior is only pushing Kate away. Oh well, maybe she'll have an epiphany in book 3 :).

Thank you for the excited story Jackie! It was nice having a paranormal book that I didn't want to put down and I can not wait for the next installment! What do y'all think of Between Worlds?

“Someone always dies. Someone is always left behind. Someone is always caught between worlds.”

Michael Sinclair is coming to terms with his new-found pseudo-celebrity status, when pro ghost hunter, Luke Rainer comes back in to town.

Luke needs Michael’s help, because the owner at a location he wants to investigate, specifically requested Michael. Now he just needs to get him on board!

Michael, after being coaxed by Kate, agrees, and off they go to investigate Stanton Hall Manor, a haunted mansion in Maine.

But this isn’t an ordinary ghost hunt. This mansion has a dark past, and Michael finds himself in a predicament that even Luke himself didn’t see coming. The crew is in danger, and Michael is the only one who can help.

Between Worlds, by Jacqueline E. Smith is Michael Sinclair’s story. And when you have Michael, you get his ghostly sidekick Brink! -Lovable, hilarious Brink! :)

It has been awhile since I read Cemetery Tours, so I was absolutely delighted to read Between Worlds, and fall back in love with the characters all over again. <3 I really missed Michael, Brink, Kate, Gavin, and Luke! Cemetery Tours is a series I could read FOREVER! I would love to see more CT books from the perspectives of ALL the characters!

Overall, Between Worlds is an excellent, new-adult paranormal romance, with lovable ghost-hunting characters, that I absolutely would recommend to a friend. I love this series, and I look forward to the next installment!

This is a paranormal book with a romantic twist.

Ms. Smith's second book in the Cemetery Tours series picks up not long after the first one. Both Michael and Kate are recovering from the traumatic events in their lives. Just when they are finding themselves back on a 'normal' path, in walks Luke. Luke convinces them to go with them to Stanton Hall Manor. What they found there is more unusual than even the professional ghost hunters imagined.

While paranormal is not my usual cup of tea, Ms. Smith kept me spellbound throughout both books in this series. Although Between Worlds can stand on its own, I suggest reading Cemetery Tours first for more insight into the characters' background.

Woah. This book was so good. Jacqueline Smith does not disappoint; all of her books are amazing and 'between worlds' is no exception. I loved reading about the Cemetery Tours ghostly adventures and I loved seeing Michael, Kate and Gavin together with the gang again. Like the first book, this one was a total package; it was exciting, intense and completely unexpected. I can't wait to read the third book in this series. I need more!

Michael's secret is out, job offers are drying up like puddles on a sunny day, and Luke is ready to drag Michael on his next adventure. In better news, Michael's relationship with Kate is just beginning, and a trip with her is starting to sound tempting. When the Cemetery Tours crew goes to investigate Stanton Hall, suspicious activity around the house hints the house is truly haunted, which couldn't make Luke happier. Little does the crew know all that a vengeful ghost can do when you invade their space...

This is the second time I've read this book, and I love it just as much as the first time. I definitely enjoy the first book in the series, but this one is even better. There are shocking twists and turns. Michael and Kate's relationship is adorable. Luke is Luke, and can't help but steal the show.

As with the first book, I love all the main characters. I definitely appreciate getting to see Luke more in this book. Michael is just as sweet and nerdy as before. I love seeing how compassionate and loving he is with Kate. Speaking of Kate, she is a great influence on Michael. She's the perfect character to push him out of her comfort zone, but also kind enough to not push him too far.

The main ghost they are investigating in this book (compared to the last book), is much more terrifying, vengeful, and insane (literally). His actions are shocking and will keep you guessing on what he is going to do next. Even though I can't wait to see him go away, I still feel for him by the end.

The setting being in Maine reminds me of the trip I once took up there. Each time Jackie described part of the setting, I got flashbacks of my visit and it always made me smile. Maine is a great setting for this book, and Jackie did a great job describing it.

This was another great installment in the Cemetery Tours series, and definitely worth reading.

I was sent this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Wow, I didn't think it was possible to love this book more than the first and yet I did! Michael's secret is finally out the whole world knows he can see ghosts. Luke is contacted by the owner of Stanton Hall Manor a site he has been dying to investigate, but the owner has one condition to allow them to shoot in the Manor, Michael has to be present. So, Michael finally agrees to join Cemetery Tours, but what they thought was going to be one of the best episodes they have ever filmed turns out to be one of the worst for the crew.

This book was so good and creepy, I freaking loved it. One thing that I have noticed and loved about Jacqueline's writing is that she can make you laugh out loud, cry and be terrified all in one chapter and I love it not many authors can do that; she also writes very likable characters I fell in love with them all over again even the new ones. I really enjoyed that there was more Luke and Brink in this book they crack me up and I just can't get enough of those two. Michael's and Kate's character development in this book was very well written especially Michael! I really liked the way he is starting to accept his gift and standing up for it and for himself. I really loved the story about Sterling and his wife it made the book feel all that more real, it was like I was there with the crew experiencing everything. If you have yet to pick up this series, what are you waiting for? It's so good and I can’t wait to read the third book!

After reading Cemetery Tours, I was hooked on this new series and found Between Worlds, by Jacqueline Smith to be an absolutely stunning follow-up. There is certainly enough background information that this book could be read on its own.
This new instalment involves Michael getting to grips with the repercussions of  publicly revealing his ability to see and communicate with ghosts. Poor Kate has come to terms with the fact that her life must continue after learning about her tragic past, and the tentative relationship between the pair blossoms beautifully throughout the book.

In the grand traditional that started in Cemetery Tours, Between Worlds continues not only the plot twists but also the intrigue. We follow Michael, Kate, and Luke along with Luke’s team into the realm of a planned investigation. It is an investigation that cannot take place unless Michael agrees.

Curious? So was I, especially after his last brush with death.

The story weaves in the individual elements bringing them deeper and closer to the truth until at last the pieces start to fall into place. When you least expect it to happen, the story takes another turn, and Michael is faced with a dreadful choice.

I liked how Michael stayed true to his character. Still reluctant to deal with the spirits and even more hesitant to step into the limelight, he struggles with himself about how much to reveal to anyone in an effort to protect them, all the while knowing the danger is far worse than anyone may suspect.
Kate, enthralled by the glitz and glamour of participating in Luke’s television show, never realizes how dangerous it can really be until—

You’ll just have to read the story, won’t you?

Luke Rainer is back! So are Michael and Brink and Kate, but Luke was my absolute favorite character from the first book. I was so excited to see more of him in this sequel.

In Between Worlds, Michael, Kate, Gavin, and Brink all travel up to Maine with Luke and the rest of the Cemetery Tours crew to investigate Stanton Hall Manor.

I'll admit, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect out of this book, but that's a good thing! It kept me guessing, which kept me reading. It turned out to actually have a very different feel from the first book, it was darker, more romantic, and more in depth. But Ms. Smith's keen writing style and sense of humor are all still present.

It ends the exact same way as the first book - with the reader wanting more! I can't wait for the next installment!

I am equal parts happy and sad. This book was a great sequel to Cemetery Tours and now that it's over, I'm really wanting a third book. There is a third book coming, right??

Jackie's story is wonderfully crafted with equal parts supernatural, humor and romance all shuffled into one mysterious adventure. The characters and the setting were just a few of the many great qualities. There was no point where I was finding my interest lacking, in fact I was looking forward to getting further and further as long as my eyes would remain open.

This is my favorite book of hers this far and I can't wait to pick up more by a wonderful author!

This is the second installment of the Cemetery Tours books by Jacqueline E. Smith. This follows Michael, the boy who can see ghosts, along with his love interest Kate, and the host of the popular TV show Cemetery Tours, Luke, on another adventure to find out if the Stanton Hall mansion is truly haunted.

Very well-written book! Great story! Really enjoyed it!

Michael now has friends to believe. He has a new girlfriend. But he has a somewhat friend who has a cable show on ghost hunting. Lured into helping on the show he gains some more confidence but also faces more notoriety. Life is ganging up on him.

I really enjoyed reading about Michael, Kate and Luke again. Jacqueline Smith has a way of pulling you into a story and not letting go until the end. If you like stories of haunted old mansions, troubled ghosts and lost loves with humor and romance, this is the story for you. I can't wait to sink my teeth into After Death, the third book in the series. I highly recommend not only this book, but this series.
