The hunt is on! The Faustians have made their deal with the Devil -- er, Enchantress -- but Angela isn’t going to take that lying down, is she? No, not by her psychic ribbons and very, very pointy weapons, no, she is not. Out into the wilds of the countryside, Angela and Sera collide with a wandering caravan of ne’er-do-well performers. (Hint: their name starts with a “G” and ends with an “Y” and has an “Uardians of the Galax” in the middle.) Pagan rites, dubious ethics, a deadly curse, and Kieron and Irene Koh being up to no good – who can resist the lure of the Faustians
The Secret Wars that reduced the original Marvel multiverse to a single patchwork planet, meant that there were a lot of crazy permutations. This issue alone surprised me with every page.Still, Angela and Sera's chemistry would remain the heart of this book.
The 1602 Guardians made their appearance, not guarding this galaxy, but as a traveling troupe of rambunctious entertainers.
The short stories folded into the main narrative was a great touch, maintaining the Gaimanesque flavor.
Ah.. Re-imagined Guardians of the Galaxy from 1602 make their entrance. Great stuff. Recommended if you want to start a Marvel series that's not as "superhero-y" as all the other titles. The artwork is beautiful and the story is pretty solid too. Finally, one last thing I really liked was the Venom they had guest-starring in this issue, reimagined too, like a human-turned-monster after taking a potion, and it was a really nice touch.
Old England. Angela. With a side-kick. Hunting monsters and such. Everything in this series is like an old British tale. Anyone who likes that kinda stuff will not be disappointed.
A good, solid issue. I like the story still and it's really funny at times. I love seeing Angela and Serah's relationship explored and their banter is wonderful.
In this issue we are introduced to a well familiar group and an unexpected nut well known enemy to marvel fans. I geek squealed when I realised who they were.
A fun, adventurous issue, looking much forward to the next issue.
Ye old Venom and the Gardiner's Men make for a merry twist in this less-than-happy tale. Serah's story-telling manages to not get on my nerves as it does most of the time and the story-telling was just what it should be. It's a fun story that probably doesn't have long as this leaves the ending with a pretty tight schedule.
I love the 1602 universe, and getting the Guardians in here made me pretty happy -- Angela is a great character, and watching the spiraling interactions with her, the Guardians, and Serah was lovely.
I'm so confused. It's probably my own fault because I'm not reading carefully enough so I'm just going to have to save up several issues and FOCUS and read them all at once. Right, okay, good.
