This was a fun not-too-scary-but-still-scary ghost story! It also had quite a few references that those familiar with the Haunted Mansion ride would recognize. I liked the way it focused on two twins helping their grandfather, and the overall theme of family unity.

The ghoul’s victim’s story in Chapter 3 is about as scary as it gets. I read this to screen it for my almost-five-year-old who loves all things Halloween and Disneyland. The spooky ghoul with his spooky voice and oblique talk of people dying by getting sucked into a gramophone elevates it from G to PG, but still something I’d probably let a five-year-old listen to with a parent present for some of the scarier parts.
